Consequences of Conscience

Next chapter, started the day after I finished the last one. This chapter spans over five days, so, yeah... just so you know. I just realized (after I already finished) that this story has various TV show elements, so, go ahead, try and name them as you read them. Also, if you're wondering, the person I was roughly referring to in the last chapter was named L, from Death Note. (No one knows his real name. ;) http://static.flickr.com/94/212362414_0b08f3d701_m.jpg

"You have to what?!", says Kitsune, her eyes growing wide.

"Just what I said, I have to leave", you say, looking at your feet. It is the next day, almost six in the morning. For some reason, she was up already, walking back from the living room. You were trying to leave before anyone got up to avoid any feelings of guilt.

"But, why?", she asks, tears starting to form in her eyes. `Do I really mean that much to her?`.

"It is a personal reason. I am sorry, but I have to leave.", you say, trying to walk by her.

"Just like your reason for being in Petalburg?!", she screams, her arm extended, keeping you from getting by.

"Do you want the truth?", you ask, trying not to scream. This time you were, but maybe bend the truth a little. "I'm going to find the leader of Team Omega. And I am going to kill him!", you respond, clenching your fist. "He did something horrible to us, all three of us, and I'm sure many more. And he is going to pay for it.", you finish, walking by her, a stunned look pasted on her face. You walk through the living room, and your hand rests on the handle of the door.

"Wait...", she says. You look back, but keep your hand on the knob. She is standing in the doorway, her eyes streaming. She turns and walks back down the hallway, and you hear her door open. In a few seconds she comes back, hand clenched. She walks up to you, and holds out her hand. There are a few folded bills in it, all with hundreds on them. You reach out to take them, but her hand clenches around them again. She puts it back down, and holds up the other hand. There is a silver band in it, with a symbol on the end. You can't quite place it, but you feel as though you've seen the symbol before. "This is the most important thing to me. It was given to me, so I now give it to you. It was given to me by Yane, and he said that I could give it to who I pleased, and I have decided to give it to you."

You reach out and grab it. It is a lot lighter than it looks, almost as light as a feather. You put it on without a word, looking her right in the eyes. "I will give this back to you. I promise." She then hands you the cash, and you slip it into your pocket. You then reach forward and give her a hug, her head on your shoulder, and yours on hers. "I will see you again, I swear.", you say, breaking the hug. You turn and walk out of the door, leaving her there. ``Why did you have to go and do that? Now she's gonna be sad``.
`I had to, she's my friend. She at least deserves to know what I am doing, and to know that I am coming back`.
---

You finally make it to the city, Lilycove. It took almost the entire day, but you make it. As you had walked, you saw many people on the way there. Every one of them gave you a malicious look as you passed. How much could these people hate you, why would they? There is no real reason for it. These thoughts keep you occupied as you make your way to Lilycove. The sun has started to set as you enter the gate into the city. Just as the people on the trail, everyone just glared at you. As you walk through the city, you see the building. That tall, grey, colossus towering over the city.

`That's it, that's where they are`.
``How do you know? There is no way you could've known where it was``.
`I didn't, I only saw the back of the building. Common sense, front looks like the back`. You turn, and start walking again. `But I ain't gonna do it. Not yet anyway. From the lack of sleep and the "activities" last night, both thanks to you, Yane. So, I'm gonna wait 'til tomorrow, then, I am gonna take down that son of a bitch`. Clouds start to roll in as the sky turns dark. The sunset in the city is so much different than out in the wild, the lights bleaching out almost all of the colors. You start to just walk in any direction, taking any turn you feel like. The dark covers the sky, only being able to see where you're going because of the street lamps.

``So, where are you heading?``.
`I don't know... would you?`.
``Well, actually, there is a motel I've stayed at a few times. It's in this city, but...``. A drop of water hits the end of your nose, then on your neck, and then it all fall at once. You quickly make your way under a sheltered bus stop, but you're already soaked. You cross your arms and your body begins to shiver. "D-Damn it, t-that rain is f-fucking cold.", you stutter to no one. `So, your not going to tell me where it is?`.
``It's not that, it's just that I can't remember where it was...``.
"Fuck!", you scream out loud. You sit down on the bench, and readjust your shirt. "Guess I better get settled...", you say. The rain pattering on the roof of the make-shift shelter is slowly calming you. `It's not going too much of a sleep if I do it here`. You just sit there, staring blankly at the street lamp's glow. Your eyes are growing heavy. Your defenses against sleep soon start to come crashing down. `Maybe I can just close them for a while`. You lie down on the bench the best you can, and put your arm over your eyes.

You are only laying there for a few seconds before your ears perk up from a sound. Its foot steps... running. The steps are approaching you, and stop right in front of you. You lift up your arm and look at the figure. Your mouth almost falls open in shock. It's another anthro! Nine white tails swished behind him, covering the rest of his body. "What the hell! God damn rain!", he curses under his breath. He turns around, and sees you sitting there. The two of you just look at each other for a minute, probing the others eyes. `Wow, I'm not gay, but this guy is hot!`. His hair, now messy, was a perfect white color, mingled in with the water made each hair sparkle. The rest of his body fur was the perfect cream color all of his species has. He had a shopping bag in his hand, and was clutching it tightly. But the most distinguishing feature of him was his crystal clear, light blue eyes. He mouths something, but you don't quite hear it.

"Sorry, what?", you ask, slightly embarrassed.

"I said, is it okay if I sit down?", he repeats, gesturing to the seat next to you. You just shrug, and scoot over a few inches from the spot he gestured. He walks over and sits. The two of you sit there, avoiding each others eyes. You find a puddle and keep your mind set on that. "So...", he says. You look over at him. His eyes were just looking out to the rain. "...I've never seen you around here. Who are you?", he continues.

"My names Kyle.", you reply.
``Kyle?! That's not your name!``.
`It's common sense! A new guy comes into town, and then the next day a fellow anthro gets killed? I don't want him to know my real name!`.
``...``.

"...here?", he says.

"Sorry?", you say, focusing your attention back to him.

"I asked, why did you come here?", he repeats, turning his head to you. He sounded slightly annoyed.

"Well, I've never been here before, and I heard that this was a beautiful city, so I walked here. Not a very good first impression for the town, is it?", you ask, smiling and nodding your head towards the rain. He smiles and looks back to the rain.

"Do you have anywhere to stay?", he asks. His fingers start to rap against the seat.

"No, not really.", you say. You see his tails all twitch as you give your answer. You can guess what he is going to ask next.

"Well, my house is not that much farther from here. If you don't mind getting any more wet, then we can run to it.", he says.

"That's alright with me.", you reply. You get up and rearrange your shirt again. "So, how far is it exactly?", you ask.

"About five blocks in...", he points to the right, "...that direction." He gets up, and shakes his body again, droplets of water flying in random directions. "Okay, ready?", he asks. You nod, and he takes off. You quickly follow him, trying to keep on his heels.
---

The key turns in the bolt, locking the door. You and he are panting, trying to catch your breaths. He is the first one to recover, and walks down the hallway. You hear him remark, "Go ahead into the living room. I'm gonna make up some coffee.", he says. You straighten up and walk down the hallway as well. You look into the first doorway, seeing the Ninetails fuddling around in the kitchen. The next room was assumedly the living room. You walk over and sit on the couch. The couch is amazingly soft, almost as if it wasn't there. You start to melt into the couch, feeling strangely at ease. Your eyes slowly close, and you fall asleep.
---

"Hey... Hey! Wake up!". You open your eyes, coming face to face with his blue eyes. You resist the urge to eep in surprise and just go wide eyed for a moment.

"S-Sorry...", you reply, him leaning back again. "... I must have fallen asleep. Where's the coffee?", you ask, looking around.

"Are you kidding? It's morning, bub.", he says. Just now, you realize that the room was being lit by sunlight, not a bulb.

"Sorry. I guess I was tired.", you say, chuckling a bit as you finish. He laughs a bit too, but quickly stops.

"Listen, I need to go out for work. Sorry to do this, but I've gotta kinda kick you out.", he says.

"No problem. I'd better get going too.", you say, standing up. You stretch out your left arm, then your right arm, then both. He laughs a little at your little display.

"Good thing I'm not gay, otherwise I'd have to "go to the bathroom" before I left.", he said, chuckling slightly. `What?`. You then look down and sees what he means... your naked! Reflex's kick in, and you quickly cover yourself up.

"What the hell happened to my clothes?", you ask, looking around.

"You took them off last night. When I came in here, you were snoring, naked, and curled into a ball. Your clothes were in a pile on the floor, so I put them next to the fire place.", he said, pointing to it. You spot your clothes, lying neatly next to the burnt out fire. You quickly run over to them, and put them on. `Did I take them off?`.
``Yeah, you don't remember?``.
`... No`.
(Go ahead, gay people, let your perverted minds wander... O.o)

The two of you walk out of the door silently. He jabs a finger to the left. "I go this way.", he says.

"Yeah, I go the other way.", you reply. ``No you don't...``.
`Shut up!`.

"Okay, see ya Kyle", he says, and starts walking quickly. About now you realize something...

"Hey, I never got your name.", you say. He stops, and quickly turns his head back around.

"It's Lance", he says, then starts to run in his original direction. `Hmm...`. You turn and walk in the opposite direction.
``So... where are you going?``.
`I'm gonna get some breakfast, then head over to that building and get this over with`.
---

After almost an hour of aimless walking, you finally make it to your destination. It is a small diner. You push open the door, and the entire place becomes silent. You already know it's because of you, so you just quickly walk over to an empty table and sit down. You can feel the eyes of the patrons burning through you. There is a menu on the table, so you quickly pick it up. You just want to get in, eat, and get out, as quickly as you can.

"Can I take your order?", you hear a soft voice ask. You look up, and are met with the crimson eyes of another anthro. `Jeez... How many of these are there here?`. "Or do you still need more time?", she continued.

"Uh, yeah. Can I have the steak and eggs?", you ask, looking back down at the menu.

"Okay...", she says, scribbling it down on a piece of paper. "And how would you like those done?", she asks, looking back at you.

"The steak, rare. The eggs, over-easy.", you reply, handing her the menu.

"Anything to drink?", she asks, taking the menu.

"Just some water.", you reply.

"O-kay! It will be ready in a little while.", she says cheerily. She spins and walks away, her emerald hair flowing behind her. You lean back in your chair, and begin to think...

`Alright... now, what will I say when I get there?`.
``How 'bout, "Hi! Can I see the leader of Team Omega? I wanna kill him."``.
`Naw, too strait forward. How about, "Hi! I would like to join... *whisper* Team Omega."`.
``No way! That's way too corny! They'll never go for it. Why don't you say something like...``.

"Here you go!", you hear the females voice chime. You look up and see her put a plate and a glass on the table.

"Thanks", you say, grabbing a fork from off the table. She smiles, nods, then walks away.
``Hey, I got a question. How do you know how you like to eat human food?``.
`Well, my trainer used to make steak and eggs a lot, and she usually shared it with me. I just learned what I liked and how I liked it`.
``That makes sense... I guess``.

You jab the fork into the meat, then reach over for a knife. After a few awkward minutes, you finally cut the steak and the eggs into bite sized chunks. You then slowly start to eat the pieces, bit by bit. Along with periodic sips from the glass, all of the dishes on the table were soon empty. You lean back in the chair, and take another glance around the room.

It seems as though the people had lost interest in you, and had just continued eating. There are a few new people that had come in since you did, a family with a little boy, a trainer and his Houndour, a woman with short black hair... `Wait a second...`.
...That's the same bitch who tortured you! `Damn... it...`. It takes every ounce of your strength to not rush over there and jam your claws through her neck. `No... I have to think of this logically. If I can follow her without her seeing me, I might be able to find a back entrance or something with less security`.

Just about then, she stands up, puts some money on the counter, and heads for the door. You quickly but casually reach into your pocket, grab one of the bills, and put it under the plate. You then stand up and follow her out the door. When you leave, your waitress walks over to your table, and starts to stack the plates. She then sees the hundred-dollar bill, and marvels over getting an $85 tip.
---

`Man... I've been following her for hours. When is she going to go there?`. She has just been walking around, going to a bunch of different stores and buying food. She was carrying some bags now, and was walking quickly through the bustling streets. `Do you think she saw me?`.
``No. You've had your eyes on her the entire time, and she never looked at you. If she does know, she must be pretty smart``.
`Yeah, but then what is she doing?`.
``Shopping``.
`...`.
You just continue to follow her, and when the crowd starts to thin, you start having a harder and harder time following her. Finally, it was just you, her, and four other people on the sidewalk. Those other people also start to dissipate, and you almost had to give up, but she turned and walked into an apartment building. `Damn it!`. You rush in after her, and just catch her getting into an elevator. You look up at the numbers at the top of that elevator. 15... 16... 17... 18! The numbers stopped at 18! You quickly walk over to the stairs, and start to run up them...
---

*Huff puff* `Why'd... I have... to run... up those...?`. You are standing on the stairway side of the door marked "18". You're leaned over, breathing hard.
``Well, my guess is that you're just anxious to get back at her for what she did``.
`Oh yeah`. By now, you stand up strait, trying out slow breathing. It wasn't as hard, meaning your heart has slowed. You put your hand on the handle, but instantly freeze up.
``What? What is it?``.
`I just... got the strangest feeling... that something very bad is going to happen if I open this door`.
``What the hell are you talking about?! Just go through, find her, get whatever you need out of her, and dispose of her!``.
`NO! Not yet...`.
``Not yet? So your still going to do it, right?``.
`Of course! Just... as soon as this feeling goes away`. You just stand there; hand on the handle, griping it tightly. Minutes slug by, and finally, you feel content. "Alright", you say, as you twist the handle. The door gives under the small amount of force you use, and it opens. You look cautiously into the hallway. `No one`. You creep slowly into the hallway, closing the door behind you. You hug the wall, and walk towards the middle of the hall. ``Why are you sneaking around?``.
`That's actually a good question`. You get off the wall, and just walk down the hallway. `Why are there no doors?`. Just as you think that, you come to a set of five doors, each roughly ten feet apart. The closest door to you is one that has the number "5" on it. `Is this all that's on this floor?`. You look in both directions, the left is the door you just came through, the right is a wall, in front of you are the doors, and behind you is the elevator. `Alright, which door?`.
``Uh dun no``.
`...Thanks for the help`. You then get an idea. You walk up to the closest door, number 3, and knock on it.
``What the hell are you doing?!``.
`You'll see`. The door opens, but no one was there. "Yes?", you hear a small voice say. You look down, and see a little girl looking up at you. She didn't seem to be scared, as she didn't scream or run away.

"Hey little girl. I'm sorry, but I seem to be kind of lost. I'm looking for someone, and I know she's on this floor, but she didn't tell me which room. Do you think you can tell me where she might be?", you ask, smiling. ``Oh. So that's your plan``.

"Maybe! What does she look like?", she asks, grinning goofily.

"Well, she's about this high...", you start, putting your hand at eye level. "And she has short black hair", you finish, brushing your own hair. ``Heh. I knew you were smart``.

"Yeah! I know where she is!", the girl says. Just as you are about to ask, she runs back into the apartment, chiming "Mom! There's someone here to see you!". `Mom?! Oh shit...`.
``Heh, this just makes things more interesting. I'm just curious to see what you're going to do next``. You quickly move out of the sight of the doorway, and press your back against the wall next to it. "Yes?".
`It's her!`. You can hear her walking down the corridor, slowly making her way to the door. The footsteps slow until she is just on the other side of the door. "Hello? Is there anyone there?", she says from only feet from your ears. `Well... it's now or never!`. You step out into her view, and look her strait in the eyes. It was her... yes, but she seemed different. Her eyes now carried fear instead of the cruel malice that they had when you first saw her. "It-Its you!", she says, reaching for the edge of the door. You casually put your hand on the door, and stop her from closing it. "Please... if you want to... kill me... just don't harm my daughter."

"I'm not here to kill you.", you say.

"What?", she says.
``What?! After all that! You're not going to kill her?!``.
`...no`.

"I said, I'm not here for you, or your daughter.", you repeat. "I came here to kill your boss." As you say this, she does something you did not expect...
...she smiles.

"Please, come inside.", she says, letting go of the door and moving to the wall. You cautiously walk into the room. You sit down on the sofa, and after closing the door, she walks over a sits on a recliner. "So...", she says, holding her head with one hand, "you want to kill Akabatsu?".

"If that is the name of your leader... then yes.", you say bluntly.

"Good!", she says, clapping her hands together. `Uh... did I miss something?`.
``I'm... not sure. I'm just as lost as you are``. "We have been looking for someone to kill him for us!", she says happily.

"We?", you ask, getting even more confused.

"Yes, us Administrators.", she says. "You see, our boss was the one who started Omega, correct? Well, he is kind of an idiot when it comes to who he gives his information to, and so he started to tell all of his starting members his "ultimate goal". I was one of those first members. Well, one of the people wanted out after hearing it, right?", she nods, and you nod back. "He said "Okay, whatever. Just don't go blabbing to anyone.", and so the guy leaves. A few weeks later, in the newspaper, there was the murder of that very same guy. He had a wound on the back of his neck, a burned indentation. The only person that can do that is Akabatsu, but the police were stumped, and the case was never solved. All of us had a meeting the next day. It was revealed that the person who quit was giving information to the police. We all knew that that wasn't true, he just did not want him to give out information to the police, but we all kept quiet about it. A few months later, another new member decided to quit, and he ended up dead also. Now, anyone stupid enough to join Omega is stuck for life, or at least Akabatsu's life. I have talked to all of the members, and they all seemed to want out, but can't. If you were to go in with me, there would be absolutely no resistance.", she finishes.

`This... is way too convenient`. "Are you telling the truth?", you ask.

"Yes, I am. I want that son-of-a-bitch dead just as much as you do.", she states. You can feel the anger... anger and hatred in her voice. She was telling the truth.

"Okay... I believe you", you say, standing up. You look out of the window that is on the far wall, and see a beautiful view of the sunset. `There is no time to enjoy it now`. "When would be the best time to go?", you ask, looking back at her.

"Actually, now is a good time. There should be very few people there now. But, more importantly, there is something I want to say first.", she says.

"What?", you ask.

"Well, I just wanted to apologize for what I did to you three... and the countless others I sent to their deaths.", she says, bending forward. "It's just... if I didn't do what he said; he was going to kill me. But not just me... me, my daughter, my mother... anyone who is related to me. I was too much of a coward."

"You did it to save the ones you love.", you say, placing a hand on her shoulder. "I'm not exactly condoning it, but that would be the only situation I would do that too."

She nods, then stands up. "Let's go."
---

"Okay, here we are.", she says, standing in front of the door. The two of you are at the side door of the building. There was a lock on the door that the woman made short work of with the key. The two of you walk into the building. After a few sign language movements to the camera, the red light on it went off, and the two of you walked by it. When you come across a couple of guards, they both salute instead of holding you up. The two of you continue to walk down the halls, and finally come to a room. The two of you stand beside to door as she says, "This is it. He's in there. I'm gonna try and get you in without him thinking you an enemy." Before you can respond, she knocks on the door.

"What?!", you hear a male voice say.

"Um, sir?! It's Cait!", the woman says. `Is that her name?`.

"Well? What is it?!", the guy says.

"Uh, prisoner NP-3228 has... um, come back.", she says, sounding confused.

"NP-3228? You mean the one who escaped? What does he want?!", he says, sounding slightly scared.

"He wants to join.", she says, winking at you.

There is a short pause before a response comes. "Send him in.", he says. Cait opens the door, winks again, and whispers a "Good luck". You walk into the room. It is dimly lit, and the only source of light is coming from a lamp on the desk in the middle of the room. You can't see his face, but you can see the white shirt he had on. "So, you are the famous Anthro with no name, eh Kyle?". `WHAT?!`. You focus your eyes to try and see his face, but he turns up the lamp instead.

And there he was, the very same Anthro who helped you out of the rain not even 24 hours ago. It was Lance! "You?! You're the leader of Team Omega?", you reply, shocked.

"Yeah, it's me.", he states. "Surprised?", he asks.

"Yeah, kind of. I didn't think someone as nice as you could have ties with Omega... let alone be their leader.", you say, walking towards him.

"That's far enough.", he says, and you stop. The light from the door is removed, and you hear the door slam and bolt. "So, why did you return?", he asks, standing up.

`I really don't want to lie to you, but I must`. "I've come to join Team Omega.", you say.

"Why? Why would you escape, then turn right around and take the offer we so graciously set down but iust a few days ago?", he asks, walking over to one of the shadowed corners.

"Heh, your logic is impeccable", you reply, stalling him. He walks out of the shadow with a chair, and sets it in front of his desk.

"Thank you. So can you tell me the real reason you're here?", he asks, sitting back down. You walk over and sit in the chair he sat down.

"I think you know why I'm here.", you say, sitting laid back but alert in the chair. Your ears are perked, and your eyes are alert, looking for even the slightest movement that seemed hostile.

"Huh. So you're here to kill me, eh?", he says, picking up a glass of water and drinks it slowly.
`Jeez. He is way too confident`.
``Yes, but so are you``.

"Yes.", you say, responding to both questions.

"At a risk to my health, I'm afraid I'm going to have to stop you.", he says, putting the glass back down.

The two of you just sit there, waiting for the other to move. You are just looking into his blue eyes and his into your dark blue ones. Seconds pass, minutes pass, and you finally say something. "Well, I might as well start this, or else we'll both be sitting here all night.", you say, putting your hand under the edge of the desk. You shove it hard towards him, and he stops it with a hand. He then kicks a leg up at an amazing speed. You barely get your arm up to stop it. You twist your hand around, and grab his ankle. You look back over at him, but all you see is the lamp flying at your face. You jerk your head to the left, narrowly avoiding the shattering light on the wall behind you. The room goes dark, and you lose sight temporarily. Your bolt out of your chair, and he does the same. As your eyes adjust, he starts to scorn you in the dark.

"Lets see how good you fight with no eyes.", he taunts dauntingly . As your eyes adjust, you just barely see the white flash smack you in the face. You just brush it off, and look off in the direction behind you. You listen, and you can hear a rhythm of footsteps walking around you. You close your eyes, and listen for an abnormality in the steps. You hear him rushing towards you again, and you duck low. He was about your height, so you must have hit just above his knees when you rammed his legs.

You hear him let out a small yelp as his is knocked to the ground. "I don't need to see to fight.", you say. You reach up and grab his neck. You can feel the bare fur, the Adams-Apple moving, and the veins pulsing as you grip his neck hard. You struggle to crush his wind pipe, but to no avail. The room lights up as fire appears just in front of you, and moves fast towards you. Releasing his neck, you roll out of the way of the fire.

He coughs as he stands up. The desk had caught fire, and you could see again. His eyes seemed to be bulging, and his neck fur seemed to be flattened against his skin, making it look smaller. "Good...", he says while he's coughing. "Good!" he starts to laugh as he coughs. `Uh, I think I'm losing him`. "I'm finally having a fight! I haven't been that close to death in ages! I am certainly going to enjoy fighting and killing you!", he chortles. His coughing has stopped, and he was just standing there giggling. `Holy crap! He's a nutjob!`.

You stand there catching your breath, but he was the one to make the first move this time. He almost flies towards you, and aims a punch at your gut with his left hand. You push your arms to move down in front of your gut and block the punch. Your arms are now screaming in pain from just that one punch. `Damn it! This guy is strong!`. Instantly, he reaches his right arm around you, and grabs the scruff at the back of your neck. `Shit!`. He pulls towards himself, and pushes his fist and your arms up into your stomach. Before it begins to hurt, your cock your head to the left and bite his arm with your fangs. He squeals before letting go and jumping back. You must have bitten really hard, because his arm was now gushing blood. He grips the spot hard, and the blood flow starts to cease. He takes a deep breath, then blows some fire onto it. He moves his hand away and the flames dissipate, and the wound was sealed. ``Why didn't you attack him then?``.
`Heh, because I would have been turned into a living candle`.

You are standing there laughing as he looks back at you. "What's so funny?", he asks, smiling.

"Oh, nothing. No more talk, lets finish this.", you say, cracking your knuckles.

"Fine with me.", he says, and mimics your action. He jumps forward, claw extended out. You position your arm in the same fashion, and thrust it forward. The two of you connect. Blood falls loosely to the floor. The two of you look into each others eyes again, grimacing at each other. You release his claws from your grip, and your other arm from his gut. He looks up at you, and backs away, holding his torso. He has a blank look in his eyes, the clearness in them gone, now replace with a dull azure color. He just walks backwards, and stumbles onto the desk. He turns around and reaches through the flames into it. He pulls out something, and turns back to you. "Take... this... please.", he whispers, then takes one final breath, and lets it out slowly. His head hangs loose, and his body goes limp. Lance... Akabatsu... whatever his true name was, is now dead. You walk over to his body, and reach into his hand. The fingers moved limply as you move them aside, and reveal the item. It's a key, a silver key. You grab it quickly, as flames lick your arm, and then put it into your pocket. `I'll take care of it... Lance`.

You walk out of the room, head hung low. "Did you do it?", you hear Cait ask. You just nod your head. `Why do I feel so bad about this? He was a criminal, a scoundrel, and yet, I feel this terrible regret about killing him`. "Thank you, boss.", Cait says, holding out her hand. You just walk by her, and stop.

"Disband Omega. Tell them if there is ever anyone killing in the name of Omega again, I will personally rip their heart out.", you say, and begin to walk away. "I'll check in from time to time with you to see if anyone does."

"Wait!", you hear Cait say. You stop and look back at her. "You should get that looked at.", she says, looking at a point just above your eye. You reach up and touch it, then look at your hand. It had a large amount of blood on it. You then smile. The awful feeling is lifted as you look at the liquid.

"I... guess I lost something too.", you say, and wipe the blood off on the wall. "Thanks. I'll get it looked at right away.", you say, and walk out of the building.

You hum a happy tune as you waltz down the dirt trail. A bag is hanging in your hand, and fresh clothes are on your back. It has been three days since you killed Lance, and you had just come out of the hospital. They said the wound on your face covers the area from over your left eye to below your right eye. It perfectly mirrored the scar you got from the Absol. The doctors said that it should be stitched, and they said they'd do it the next day, but it was almost healed by then, so they dismissed you the day after. You paid the bill with only $400, then went out and bought some new clothes. You then had an idea. You remember Ele saying once that she liked Pecha berries, so you found the only berry store in town, and bought ten of them. You are now back on the trail to Petalburg forest, and are making great time. Just then, you see a Pichu jump out of the bushes, and look franticly around. He then looks at you and rushes over. "Your Kuso, right?", he said quickly. It sounded like he was out of breath.

"Yeah, that's me.", you say, looking confusedly at him.

"Good! Please! You've got to get to Petalburg!", he says, grabbing your shin and pulling you.

"Whoa! Wait! Why?!", you ask franticly.

He looks up into your eyes and says it fast. "It's Ele!".
