Episode 10 - The Anriu Deserter

After a long night in Nighthawk Outpost and a long day in the Elite Force headquarters, I really needed a shower. Good thing these guys had all of the machinations of a common home or I would've been kind of uncomfortable with washing myself in a lake or river.

The warm and soothing water soaked my fur as I saw the dirt wash off as the water cleaned it all. I let out a sigh of relaxation and leaned against the tile wall under the showerhead, feeling the cold tile become warm instantly against my body's heat.

"...you Pokemon are all the same..."

Aiiran's words suddenly flashed through my mind as I shut my eyes. The fight between us was horrid, I know, it was very painful to know that I killed Aiiran's father, but I just wish if there was some way to apologize and explain myself to him, maybe he would understand...

"Why did you take his life? He didn't even deserve it, he never wanted to fight Pokemon..."

His words began to choke me up, "I'm... I'm truly sorry..." I whispered even though there was no way he could even hear me.

I remember that horrible day at Sootopolis like it was only yesterday. The smoke rising from almost every building in the city, the sound of destruction around every corner, and the cries of citizens in fear all surrounded me in my path. I was completely trapped in the city after a large group of Pokemon attacked Sootopolis, I foolishly joined their raid, not knowing the horrors of war.

I was trying to remember if I saw Aiiran back then, and I want to know if he really didn't get me mixed up with another Zangoose.

"BOOM"

I remember that noise, that's when all hell finally broke loose in Sootopolis when the PEF arrived. A helicopter had just broke through one of Sootopolis' many walls and began to fire at the Pokemon in the area.

I took cover behind a dumpster as 4 PEF soldiers rushed by. Slowly, quietly, I went to go see where the PEF soldiers were rushing to and I shouldn't have done that.

Against one of the houses was an injured Pichu, just sitting there with one bullet wound already in its paw. The 4 PEF soldiers rushed in on that Pichu and began to unload their full clips against him. I shut my eyes and looked away as the gunfire continued...

This was just a cruel... evil thing to proceed with. Even before they began to fire at the Pichu, he just stared up at them with those huge, brown, sparkling eyes, and I knew exactly what was going through his mind, "...I wish I could've seen the chaos... end..."

With their job done, the soldiers just continued along long road neighborhood that overlooked the cave of origin and the large lake that acted as a center of the town where the old Gym was, I saw that it was replaced with a PEF HQ, bombs exploding and gunfire continuing as they moved along.

The soldiers ran past the cave of origin then I finally remembered the blockade that they placed that completely blocked all entrance or exit from the cave of origin. They never did try to neutralize what legend lies within that cave, so they completely blockaded it and no one was ever allowed to go back inside.

I ran up to aid the Pichu, but sure enough, he was already dead, bullets inserted in nearly every corner of his body. "So... I guess I should've helped you instead of hiding in the back like a coward... huh" were the first words that escaped my mouth as I picked up the blood-covered Pichu. I turned around to face the crumbling Sootopolis city and let out a loud yell

"SO, THESE ARE YOUR PROTECTORS? THESE ARE YOUR GUARDIANS? THE ONES WHO KILL JUST THE INNOCENT POKEMON ARE REFERRED TO AS HEROES?! YOU PEF ARE PATHETIC AND THE ONES WHO TREAT YOU LIKE GODS CAN GO TO HELL!"

Finally I bowed my head, staring at the Pichu's face, his eyes wide open. I slowly rubbed my paws downward against his eyelids, closing them as I set the Pichu back down on the floor and stared off at the chaos. The gunfire seemed like it never ceased. I watched my Pokemon brethren all die on that day. Every single one of them, I was the only one who actually survived with my life barely even intact.

On that day I was shot 4 times in my right thigh, but I somehow managed to crawl my way to an old Pokemon Defender Outpost where they treated my wounds and fed me.

"You're my favorite Jherek..."

My eyes widened when I heard Cindy's voice echo throughout my mind. I shut my eyes tightly and grabbed my forehead in frustration.

"I know you're still alive... Cindy..." I whispered, wiping the water off of my face and shaking it off of my paw. I began to cough a bit, covering my entire mouth with my paw as more germs and spit flew out of my mouth and into the air.

I sniffled a little bit and began to wash my hair in the water, ending my flashback and saving it for another time.

I leaned my head back, the showerhead's single file line of water soaking the top of my head, the rest of it dripping down my head and traveling down my body.

Shutting my eyes for only a moment, I heard the door squeak open just a little bit then stop. I turned my head quickly to see if anyone was coming inside, but the door just stopped after the first second of squeaking.

"Oh... I just love company..." I sarcastically said to myself, quickly hatching a plan to figure out who was doing this. A few months ago when I lived in Miir Cyraa, there were always plenty of perverts out there, so I always used this one technique to figure out who it was, and it never failed.

I used my Double Team ability and created a clone inside of the shower, "Okay, just stay in here and pretend you are taking a shower" I whispered, quickly getting out of the shower, putting my towel on, and pushing myself against the wall near the door.

Of course, my clone followed my orders perfectly and began to wash himself in the water, technically I wasn't scrubbing myself like my clone is, but his imitation of me was standard at best for the moment.

The sink was in front of me and the toilet was on the opposite side of the sink, so there was a lot of extra space for me to be sneaking around so I chose the wall that was to the opposite side of the direction the door opens, so whoever was spying on me wouldn't see that I'm behind the door.

The door slowly opened again, this time it didn't creak so loudly. It really disturbed me out to know that someone was staring at me taking a shower. I felt my face turn hot when I saw a pink paw opening the door halfway, "You... have got to be kidding me ..." I whispered to myself, figuring out who it was.

I grabbed my stalker by the right arm and lifted the shocked Pokemon high off of the ground, "Emma... what are you doing staring at me while I'm taking a shower?" I asked her, trying to be nice about this whole situation but it really got me mad.

I saw Emma's face turn to fear as she looked at my clone currently in the shower, "But... you... here... over there... wha...?" she muttered, pointing at the clone then at me, "I said: What are you doing staring at me while I was taking a shower?!" I repeated, finally losing my patience with her.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm so-o-o-o-o-ory!!" Emma squealed, her face burned light rouge from embarrassment, "I just wanted to see... uhm... um... your..." she stuttered, shutting her eyes and looking away from me.

"My...?" I asked really confused about this whole situation here, I didn't want to believe that she was actually trying to look at my...

"Well... you can't blame a girl for being curious about other guys' private areas, can you?" she asked, finally opening her eyes again and staring at me with those big blue sparkly eyes.

I didn't find her response amusing at the least. I just dropped her on the floor, listening to her squeal as her bottom collided against the hard wooden paneling.

"You're lucky I'm such a nice guy, or I probably would've told everyone what you tried to do" I scolded Emma, treating her like a 5 year old girl.

"Okay..." she slowly whispered, taking itsy bitsy steps away from me with her head down.

"Hehe... your penis is really big ya' know" she whispered, running away once she said that, laughing and giggling along the way.

I stood there for a few more seconds in shock on what she said. I stared down and say my penis was in fact... sticking out of my fur. I heard the door to my left open up and there walked out Sparks. He joyfully walked out, stared at me for a few seconds, then joyfully walked back inside like nothing happened.

I laughed at myself when I walked back inside of the bathroom and actually locked the door this time, "I should've done that in the first place..." I whispered.

I took my towel and began to dry myself off, "That's enough clone..." I said aloud, noticing he was still washing himself. I walked over to the shower and turned off the running water, "We can't be wasting any water now, can we?" I said, tapping my clone resulting in him disappearing with a quick, black flash.

As I opened the door that lead from the bathroom to the hallway, all of the hot mist escaped and slowly traveled through the hallways, making it look like there was a fog in here.

I saw Timmy running across the hallway and outside, muttering excitedly to himself as he ran through the backyard door, maybe something was wrong so I just decided to follow him.

"...Is Kuimon 'taking a walk' again...?" Timmy asked, smacking his head softly against a tree several times in frustration as I walked outside, still drying myself off from that shower. "What's happening now?" Apple asked, finishing her.... apple that was leftover from the dinner Litira ended up making after she warmed up some rice for me.

"I'm getting kind of nervous again... Kuimon always goes outside for a walk when the PEF Rustboro Police goes patrolling!" Timmy yelled, smacking his head against the tree one more time and collapsing on the grass, "...why does he make me worry so much...?" he continued, just laying there, flat on the floor with the green grass staining his brown fur.

"Well... you know how Kuimon is, he can't remain bottled up in such a small house like this all the time, mostly because he's an Umbreon and Umbreon's hate being stuck in one place for a long time, it's like they are all claustrophobic or something..." Apple explained, throwing her finished apple on the floor and watching it roll towards the house.

"Ah! Pick that up!" Timmy yelled, grabbing his forehead and rolling around on the dirt.

"First Kuimon goes walking at the worst possible time and now... LITTERING?!"

In my opinion, the little guy was beginning to overreact to everything around him.

"Fine... fine..." Apple sighed, using her Psychic ability and tossing the can into a nearby trashcan.

I saw a little black speck land on Timmy's face as he lifted his torso off the grass, "AND YOU!!! Mr. Fly... if you don't get off of me now, I WILL ANNIHILATE YOU!!" he yelled with this maniacal expression.

I suddenly felt a rush of air... then I heard Kuimon's voice groaning after a few seconds, "What the heck was that?" I yelled as I leaned over against the wall, trying to catch my breath from being surprised like that so suddenly.

"We saw you Kuimon... no need to be trying to sneak up on any of us..." Sparks said as he stepped out of the side door with a shovel going over his shoulder. He lifted it up into both of his paws and set it against the house.

There it was again, the same rush of air with the same groaning except it was going the opposite way from last time, "Kuimon, what are you doing?!" Timmy yelled, the little fly finally flying off of him as he got up all the way and stood on all 4 paws.

Litira walked outside as well, I guess she must have heard the commotion going on outside, "Uh... what's going on?" she asked as bent her spine backwards, doing some sort of weird stretch, "Kuimon is running around for some reason..." was all that could come out of my mouth, I wasn't entirely sure if that really was what was happening, "Ah... let me handle this..." Litira sighed, walking forward into the path where Kuimon was running back and forth.

"...halt!" she yelled, extending her right arm in front of her. Kuimon suddenly appeared right in front of her, standing up straight with his arms closely at his sides, "Okay..." Litira said, lowering her arm.

"Just tell me... how old are you Kuimon?" she asked, "Uh... 15?" he responded. "WHA-A-A-A-A-T?" I yelled in my own head, grabbing my ears and pulling them downwards, "THE LEADER OF THE ELITE FORCE IS A 15 YEAR OLD UMBREON??"

"Yes... and don't you think you should be acting your age? How do you think everyone around you is going to act when they see you acting all crazy like this?" she asked, getting closer to him.

"Um... I dunno..." he replied, blushing deeply and backing off a little bit.

"Okay then Kuimon... what are you doing?" she asked,

"Huh...? Oh right! I figured out a way where we could train AND it would be for a prize" he said, sounding very excited as he got all of our attention.

"What did I hear about training?" Emma asked, walking out exactly where Sparks did.

A few moments later...

"...soccer?" I asked, what was this guy thinking?

"Exactly, but it's not exactly like soccer, more like a free kick against the other team's goal, whoever is the goalie will get points if they block a kick, if someone was to make a goal then that means that certain person is now the new goalie and whoever was the old goalie has to stay at the back of the line until his/her turn is next" Kuimon explained, trying to catch his breath after explaining all of that so fast.

"So... how is this training in any way?" Litira asked, taking my own question out of my mouth, "Aha! Well this is why the goalie gets points, it would test his/her reflexes and whatnot, AN-N-N-N-ND... whoever gets the most points can play with my... computer..." Kuimon said, whispering the last phrase into Sparks' ears, "Okay, I'm in!" Sparks immediately said, everyone else agreed as well.

"First goalie... Litira!" Kuimon yelled like a referee, lifting up both of his arms and waving them in the air.

"Aw... come on!" Litira commented on her position as she kicked up the dust with her left foot. "First kicker, Sparks!" Kuimon yelled, again waving his arms around like an idiot.

Of course we were using a soccer ball and a goal net, but it was just so weird to just be kicking the ball straight towards the goal without all of the running and all of those details like that.

Sparks lifted his foot to kick the ball, then suddenly he was stopped by the sound of Litira's voice.

"Oh Sparks..." she started, "...please don't hit the ball too hard... it will hurt my fragile, little body..." she whimpered, tears began to come out of her eyes.

I began to laugh at this because Litira was playing mind games with Sparks. "He'll never fall for this...." I whispered to myself.

"I... I love you Sparks..." Litira whispered, her eyes sparkling with tears in her eyes as she kneeled over before Sparks.

The little Raichu stuttered for a bit then gently tapped the ball forward, it barely even went an inch, "You're out Sparks!" Kuimon yelled from the background, resistance from laughter in his voice.

"Thank you Sparks!!" Litira joyfully called out as Sparks slowly walked to the back of the line, "...cripes..." he whispered in humiliation as he walked past me. I had to say that was a real low blow, to play with a boy's emotions like that is just evil in so many ways.

"Next... Emma!" Kuimon yelled, pulling up a chair that was conveniently placed near him, he sat down with his right leg crossed over the left.

"Hi!" Emma greeted Litira, the soccer ball right next to her right paw. I let out a low growl when I saw her go up to the front of the line, now just looking at her made me uncomfortable.

There was a moment of silence between the two girls, Litira stood at attention, prepared for any tricks Emma had up her sleeve. The wind began to blow and a batch of tumbleweeds blew past them, "Awkward..." Apple whispered, in front of me in the line. She must have been referring to that old Wild West spoof that just occurred.

I looked back at Kuimon, trying to get that small fact through my head that he was 15 years old and the fact that he looked very powerful. This really had me thinking, even if Kuimon is 15 years old, I could tell he is still a pretty good leader, but then that pretty much brought up another question: How old is the rest of his crew? I'm pretty sure a group of 20 year olds wouldn't want a 15 year old leader.

"Litira!! Is that a Pachirisu I see over there?" Emma yelled as she pointed towards the forest entrance behind Litira. "...really?!" Litira squealed, turning around and facing the forest.

"Holy... crap..." I whispered to myself, grabbing my forehead and wondering if Emma was supposed to be the master of deception in the group.

I saw her right paw lift up and kick the ball, perfect accuracy toward the goal net. I was pretty sure that it would've gone inside, but I guess I don't really know much about the members of this group.

Everyone gasped when they realized that Litira somehow blocked the ball with her feather-like tails. They just blocked the ball like it was nothing, it was truly amazing, "Not today Emma, I kind of want to use Kuimon's computer... I've been longing to write my novel for quite some time now" she joyfully said with that same seductive look from before, her arms behind her back and her tails playing around with the ball.

"Not cool, Litira!" Emma yelled in frustration as she walked to the back of the line where Sparks was.

"Yay Emma! Welcome to my club!" Sparks joked, raising his right paw. "Oh, be quiet..." Emma unenthusiastically replied, pushing Sparks over to the floor like he was a big pile of feathers, listening to him squeak as he hit the floor.

"Nice job, Litira, but you're done now..." Apple confidently proclaimed, Litira passing the ball to her. "Yeah okay, don't need me to call out who is next anymore? I see how it is..." Kuimon proclaimed from the background.

I walked out of the line and went towards Kuimon, who had his paws behind his head and his back leaned over like he was lounging or something, I greeted him politely with a friendly "Hello" and he greeted me back with that same phrase that everyone here seems to have "...Yo!"

"I was just wondering... do you guys train like this all the time?" I asked Kuimon as I looked down on him when he took his paws from behind his head and placed them on his lap. "Well... yes... you see, everyone in the Elite Force is a bit young now, but if we start out with simpler training techniques... well things pick up from there" he explained, watching Apple kick the ball.

I had to say, his logic was pretty accurate, it sometimes is better to train the young in ways such as this. I didn't know a young guy like him could think like that.

I turned around to see that the ball had completely stopped in mid-air, everyone gasped when they saw that Apple was controlling it with her Psychic ability, well, it didn't really surprise me, Psychic pokemon were good at using Psychic, it was a basic fact. She began to rotate it around Litira, trying to confuse her.

As I expected, Psychic was probably one of the best moves that you could use in soccer, technically she's not using her hands and that means that she could be a pro at offensive and defensive.

The soccer ball went inside the net easily after a few seconds of the ball twirling around randomly, "Goal for Apple, Litira, you're out!" Kuimon yelled.

"Aw, come on! Using Psychic isn't fair!!!" Litira whined with that insanely cute and squeaky voice.

"Sorry, she can use whatever power she wants, you could've done a special move as well" Kuimon responded, crossing his arms together.

"...but no one told me!"

"You didn't ask..."

I guess Litira didn't want to argue with Kuimon over something silly like this, so she just walked to the back of the line, admitting her defeat against the leader of the group.

"Well Jherek..." Kuimon continued our conversation like nothing happened, "...since my squad members are so young, it is appropriate to train them in fun ways, such as this" he said.

"I see... but how old are they anyways? Some of them seem mature enough to be over 20 years old..." I said

"...except Emma..." I thought, remembering what she did earlier.

"Heh... well, Timmy is 14, Sparks is 17, Litira is 23, Emma is 15, and Apple is 19" Kuimon told me, beginning quietly and as he got to Litira he increased his volume, he knew it was a bit unusual for a battle group to be so young, I could tell by that look on his face.

What really surprised me is that Emma was 15 yet she knows how to peek on people taking showers, that was really beginning to bother me.

After a while of standing up and watching the team members play around, my back began to hurt a bit, I twisted around from my hipline and cracked my back, which just made it feel a little better, but the full pain returned after just a few seconds.

"Ah, I'll just talk to you later, my back is beginning to hurt"

Kuimon's eyes widened when I said that, but it looked like he was trying to make his surprise unnoticeable, which it wasn't. Why did 'hurting my back' shock him so much?

I heard the sounds that you would've normally expected from a playground coming outside from where everyone else was "Training" I sat in seclusion in Timmy's room, sitting on his bed and staring at all of the little trinkets he possessed.

He had a flat screen TV, a nice looking desk, bunk bed, a nice bookshelf, and a big picture of all of the Elite Force group members with Kuimon in the middle, Timmy to the left, Apple to the far left, Litira to the right, and Sparks to the far right, Emma was right behind Kuimon, it kind of looked like he was giving her a piggy-back-ride.

Something under Timmy's bed caught my eye upon moving around and noticing something shimmer in the light from back there. I moved towards it, extending my arm as far as it could go and gently picking up what seemed to be a silver binder labeled "Evidence".

I brought it closer to me, opened it up to the first page, and examined it carefully. On it, I saw just a plain picture of Kuimon, standing there and staring at the camera which took the picture.

"What's so special about this...?" I whispered to myself, noticing a small paragraph of text under the picture.

"October 6, 2096: After a mission into the cold, dark, depths of the Ninkassa ruins, I'm beginning to notice something weird about our group leader, Kuimon Atokashii. He has been keeping to himself for the past few hours, usually after a 'Mission Accomplished' he would celebrate with us, but today he just sat in his room, alone in the dark" The text read.

I was beginning to wonder if this had anything to do with how Kuimon was involved with the Anriu, my curiosity encouraged me to flip to the next page.

The next picture freaked me out, it showed just a plain picture of Kuimon's eyes, and yet again, there was text under the picture.

"October 7, 2096: My concern for what might be happening to Kuimon has encouraged me to take a close examination of his body while he was asleep, and I have made a disturbing discovery... (Anyone who may be reading this, look closely into Kuimon's eyes)" The text said.

I followed the instructions the text said and observed Kuimon's pupils. "Oh my God..." I whispered, beginning to shiver in fright.

Kuimon's pupils had changed from just a plain circle to the sign of a black triangle with a picture of a bioluminescent eyeball in the middle of the triangle.

I was beginning to get really freaked out, and the disappearing sunlight just made it even creepier. I flipped to the next page and saw something that nearly made me drop the binder, I tried to keep it in my hands but I ended up having to catch it with my feet. I picked it back up and looked at the picture again.

It showed Kuimon sleeping peacefully, but behind him was a disturbingly ghostly Weavile with a third eyeball on his forehead pulling out a blue/greenish essence from Kuimon's stomach. I heard the sound of bells, ringing freely in the wind upon staring at this picture. I looked down at the "Arial Unicode MS" font text and read it aloud to myself.

"October 8, 2096: Something is horribly wrong, now upon witnessing a ghostly three-eyed Weavile pulling something out of Kuimon's stomach, I have asked Sparks if he maybe knew anything about this, he replied this one name, 'Lucifer'..."

Finally... finally I saw what Lucifer was, but what was his purpose? What did he do to Kuimon those two long years ago? Can this Anriu cult be even more dangerous than the Pokemon Elimination Force?

I was now eager to see the next page, as I flipped it over the picture made me gasp loudly. There stood Kuimon with his fur actually glowing black, the little Umbreon rings around his body had turned red, his eyes glowed an ominous red and his pupils glowed purple. Behind him were large eyes looking down upon him, the sky resembled a storm but it was clear outside.

I looked down for the text but found no entry.

I was about to flip to the next page when I heard a familiar voice.

"So..." I heard someone from the entrance say. In fright I dropped the binder on the floor and scuttled around like an idiot, letting out a loud yell of shock, "Calm down! Calm down! It's just me!" I heard Litira yell.

"Oh God..." I whispered, grabbing my chest and trying to control my out-of-control heartbeat, "So... what'cha doin'?" she asked as she slowly walked towards me and sat on Timmy's bed.

"Oh... I was just looking at... one of Timmy's binders" I said, trying to catch my breath from that shocking experience.

"Yeah... we're lucky Timmy took those pictures or we would've never believed him..." she said, staring at the floor, futzing around with her white belt. I don't know why I've never noticed that belt on her.

"Wait a second, how did this even happen to Kuimon?" I asked, turning my head towards Litira and ended up staring right into her eyes, our faces only a few inches away from each other.

"Well..." Litira started, hesitating to continue as she backed away from me a little.

"Hey Litira, want some leftover cake from the fridge?" Sparks asked, walking past the doorway and into the kitchen.

"Right!" Litira yelled with enthusiasm and relief.

"I'll tell you all about this later, 'Kay?" she told me, running into the kitchen. "Eh... okay" I said, knowing she couldn't hear me since she was already in the kitchen.

Was this a secret or something?

That Weavile's third eye popped up in my head, that disturbing image just rattled me up at the thought of it. It had the same triangle I saw in Kuimon's eyes, but this one looked much more vivid and clear than Kuimon's.

Maybe it was some kind of tattoo, but it looked so real, it was just a scary sight. This was Lucifer of the Anriu? What did he want with Kuimon those two years ago? Did this 'Ninkassa' mission have anything to do with it?

Whatever the reason was, I HAD to find out, this could lead me to knowing about how Aiiran achieved his power in the middle of our brawl in Nighthawk Outpost, and maybe if I would be able to achieve this kind of power and escape with it without devoting myself to this "Lord Anriu".

Maybe Kuimon would be a little more motivated to tell me about it since he was the one who was cursed with that Anriu power, but for now, I'll just observe him and see how this power has affected him...
Chapter End Notes:Lucifer, the Anriu, the PEF, Savage Pokemon, how many enemies can there be? Can there be yet another cult I don't know about that can be a danger to all of us? I guess I won't know the answer to that question for a while..
