Episode 13 - A City Under Siege

"Overminds...?" I repeated, hoping for a good answer to what these things were, and why Lucifer actually feared them.

"Yes... these machines can cut through a Pokemon's mind and bombard it with many messages, it's a very painful experience..." Lucifer explained, moving backwards towards me a bit.

"But... we could destroy them before they were to do that... right?" I asked, taking the lead in front of Lucifer.

"No... these machines have been gifted the Psychic ability, they can pull and repel us at will, we could attack them first, but we would have to have a speed range of 999..."

"Well... I'm not giving up now, we need to find my si... I mean our comrade..."

I began advancing forward slowly, awaiting what was coming up next, Lucifer showed his bravery once more and took the lead again, his staff close at hand and his hood still covering his entire head.

The dark hallway reminded me of Miir Cyraa, it resembled a lot of the structure, just like home...

As we moved forward, slide open doors kept opening as we got near, Lucifer checking each and every one of them.

What lied inside of these doors were Pokemon cells, these chambers put the Pokemon to sleep until they are needed again, this is how the PEF know so much about Pokemon, the tests they make Pokemon go through used to be outlawed before this war started and now they as humans know a great deal about us Pokemon.

I felt major guilt when we just left them in there, I only wish we had enough time to free every one of them... but we just couldn't.

Up ahead there was a fork in the hallway, one went to a place called "PER" and one to "PTR" of course Lucifer knew what both of these signs meant for he chose the PER room instantly, not even stopping for a moment to rethink it.

What did it mean?

As we moved along, I saw a shadow move quickly across the walls, the sound of robotic whirring in the background. I turned around but nothing was there, but had my attention drawn back forward when Lucifer yelled, "Overmind!"

I quickly turned back to see a levitating, metallic and circular ball-type thing with a small colored circle in the middle of it, marking that was the face of the machine, the circle glowed bioluminescent like Lucifer's staff.

Quickly, Lucifer rammed his staff against the floor and created another red shield bubble as the Overmind commenced with a move of its own. "Intruder Alert!" the Overmind yelled in a deep, monotone voice, a male voice that knifed through my brain like butter. My vision blurred out and my eyes shook around rapidly, the pain caused me to lose control of myself and fall to the floor, it was like nothing I've ever felt before. Say someone took a long metal staff and shoved it in your head, as if it was looking for something trapped in your brain.

Lucifer didn't seem hurt at all by this whole thing, his shield must have been protecting him from the sound waves of the Overmind... the bastard.

The Overmind began to glow bioluminescent at all corners and finally a wave of blue light escaped it in a circular pattern, forcing me away against my own will. I attempted to stop myself by clawing the ground, but the force was too strong from the Overmind's blast, so I just kept flying backwards until I rammed hard against a wall.

"KIO-RYOMERTI, THE ANRIU DUPLICATION!" Lucifer yelled in a voice that could have resembled a wild beast. His staff began to glow every brighter as he jumped out from his red shield, ducked under the Overmind, and launched the same exact attack. The same bioluminescent glow appeared from all outlines of Lucifer as the same wave of blue light escaped his, the Overmind overwhelmed with all of this force, crashed into the wall above.

As it died, the same weird sensation rushed through my head once again, it was trying to submit another message, "Error... code... 1748! Rein... move up in..."

The message finally stopped, my ears trying to equalize itself again with a loud screech. "So... that was an Overmind... what have the PEF been working on all of this time?" this thought frightened me, what more tricks did the PEF have up their sleeves for all I've seen from them are Helicopters, Ground Units, and Special Forces Units. Now there's an Overmind to add to the list.

"Code Green... Code Green... intruders in the vicinity... PER lockdown commencing" a computerized voice announced, a slide door closing in front of us to block us out, "Move, Drone!" Lucifer yelled as he jumped under the sliding doors.

I got up and began to run towards the door, but unluckily it shut in my face before I had a chance to get under and get to the other side.

I heard Lucifer growl from the other side of the wall, "Those doors are impenetrable to any kind of Pokemon attack... even I cannot break through... you're going to have to find another way across..." Lucifer yelled, his footsteps disappearing in the distance as he moved along without me.

It took me a little time to realize that I was free from Lucifer, but now I didn't have a good chance of finding my sister.

"Damn it!" I yelled, knowing that now I couldn't depend on Lucifer protecting me with his weird abilities.

"...I'm trying Lieutenant... but my soldiers don't know enough to take on two Pokemon from the Anriu! These guys are only recruits..."

A PEF soldier followed by 3 other men were patrolling the area, the only thing I could do at this moment was hide in the dark corner between 2 nearby doors. I knew since my fur was still dark they wouldn't be able to see me.

They were all suited like the rest of the PEF soldiers, all in forest camouflage armed with powerful-looking rifles, 3 soldiers wore helmets while one wore what looked like a forest camouflage cap.

That had me wondering why Aiiran looked differently than normal ground units, Aiiran had this metallic black armor with this special scout helmet on and these soldiers just had normal camouflaged bullet proof vests and goggles. Then I remembered, Special Forces Units have the same armor as Aiiran, so that's what he must have been.

All I had to say is that when it comes to style, these Special Forces guys know exactly how to look with their fancy armor and full plate helmets.

"Damn... looks like those fuckers already got past this area, they took an Overmind out with them too..." the man from earlier said, I took it he was the squad leader by the way he lead. He examined the remains of the Overmind carefully in his hands, as if trying to figure out how it was tore it apart.

"Sir, permission to speak!" one of the privates yelled out.

"Permission granted..."

"Sir... don't we have some Combat Elites in the vicinity? Can't we send those guys out instead of us?" one of the privates asked.

"Yes... but those CEs can be a bit of a pain if they are let loose for too long... so I don't want to have to deal with them" the squad leader explained, leading the rest of his members back to the fork in the hallway that gave the choice "PER" and "PTR"

"There must be another way to the PER through the PTR..." I wondered, slowly creeping far behind the soldiers.

Far ahead, there was a large door that had the word "DANGER" written all over it, "Hey Lt. Perrin... why is that door marked up like that anyways? We've been through the Pokemon Testing Rooms so many times and yet we don't know what's behind those doors" one of the privates asked, holding his gun close to him.

"It was a shortcut from the Pokemon Testing Rooms hallway to the Pokemon Examination Rooms hallway... believe me, there is a reason we don't go in there anymore... it could be deadly if someone foolishly unleashes what lies within..." the squad leader, apparently called "Lt. Perrin" said.

So that is what PTR and PER meant.

"A shortcut... perfect..." I thought, ignoring their words of fear and heading towards the large metallic door as soon as the soldiers moved on.

"My strength... I think it's still here..." I thought, pushing my claws under the door and lifting. The large metallic door cooperated and slid upwards. I was correct, I learned this from my fight with Aiiran, when I am in this state I have advanced strength, but it is too bad I couldn't figure out how to trigger the speed too.

Walking inside of this dark and abandoned room I saw how filthy it was. Cob webs completely infested the place, one in every corner, almost every item inside.

My attention turned to one of those chambers the PEF soldiers kept Pokemon trapped inside.

To my surprise, there was an Absol inside, a female by the look of it. A button sat there to the right completely covered by a piece of paper that had the words, "DO NOT PUSH" written in huge letters.

I knew the PEF didn't want to release any of their Pokemon, so that warning meant nothing to me, I moved the paper aside and pushed the shiny red button, thereby triggering a reaction in the Absol's chamber.

A door opened which let steam escape from the interior, low to the ground it came forward, the loud hissing sound causing it to be a bit dramatic.

The Absol opened her eyes, no expression what-so-ever, it was like the face of a murderer. I looked down at the button where the name of the Pokemon is spoken, "Gaia".

"Hello there... Gaia" I said with a friendly tone, extending my paw to shake with hers.

She just looked up at me with that same evil blank face. I lowered my paw after a while, realizing she wasn't going to shake it. "You are free to go... get out of here before any more PEF soldiers come" I said, motioning for her to run away, but she still didn't respond. All she did was just look at me, her eyes staring deeply into mine, causing me to become very uncomfortable.

"Come on... you're free now..." I said, running out of things to say to her.

"...just shut up..." Gaia finally responded, catching me off guard, "What?! I saved you and that's the thanks I get?!" I yelled furiously, waving my arms around.

"...you're an Anriu Drone... am I right?" she suddenly asked, causing me to stop waving my hands and think for a moment, "If I tell her Yes... what will happen? But if I say no and she somehow knows Lucifer... that's not good..."

"Yes... yes I am" I decided to say, hoping this wouldn't be a bad experience.

"I can tell by your fur color... and all I have to say is that I feel sorry for you..." she whispered, a wicked smile appearing on her face.

"What...?"

Gaia let out a low growl, a growl that showed a desire to kill. Her white fur began to turn black, just like mine. I gasped when suddenly all of her white fur changed black, holes began to form at her back, large holes which puked out a large amount green-like waste byproducts. I almost threw up right then when black, slimy tentacles escaped those holes in her back, 10 of them escaped, 10 tentacles.

"You're... you're in the Anriu too?!" I yelled, still trying not to puke.

"Until I got bored..." Gaia responded, finally a small line appeared on her forehead, thereby turning into a large eyeball just like Lucifer's. Gaia let out an eerie screech as the third eye opened on her forehead and all of her tentacles raced towards me.

I tried to evade the tentacles, but this all happened to sudden, before I knew it they were already constricting my body. Gaia's tentacles pulled me towards her with me screaming for my life. With air rushing against my face then suddenly stopping in front of Gaia, she began to speak in a low, almost monotone voice.

"I used to be an Anriu Archon... my old job... send my prey to hell!" she screeched, her eyes widened almost as wide as Lucifer's when he killed all of those innocent people.

"Get away you evil creature!" I yelled, charging up my flamethrower to blast it in Gaia's face. She quickly realized what I was doing and threw me away, my flamethrower flying out of my mouth at the wrong time for me but the perfect time for her.

My entire body rammed against the wall, afterwards only hearing the sound of military boots rushing into the room, "Hey! Freeze!" Lt. Perrin yelled, his squad close behind all pointing their guns at Gaia, everyone except the Lieutenant was frightened out of their minds, not even paying attention to me, "Wow... you have no idea how glad I am to see you, Lt. Perrin..." I whispered, feeling some hope that this horrible creature, Gaia, would be silenced here and now.

"Who is the one who released you?!" Lt. Perrin yelled, moving up a little closer to her, ever vigilant.

She didn't answer, but I predicted what she was going to do next so I just had to yell out, "Lt. Perrin, look out!"

"Pokemon language... who said that?!" he yelled, taking his attention away from Gaia, "God damn it..." I whispered when 4/10 of Gaia's tentacles shoved themselves right through every soldier's stomach, they all let out short screams of pain as the blood flew and splattered all around the room, a few drops splattering on my face. They all quickly died, their screams only lasting a few seconds at the most.

Gaia's tentacles threw those soldiers back into the hallway as if they were pieces of trash.

I got back up, slowly and trying to see if any of my bones might have broken when Gaia threw against the wall so roughly. I growled at her and arched my back, preparing for Gaia's worst.

"Pathetic humans... if they were anything like Aiiran... this might be a challenge..." Gaia whispered, licking her lips disgustingly.

"Aiiran Walker... does every single Anriu member know about that guy?"

"Stay back you vile creature!" Aiiran's voice racing through my head suddenly, I remembered my fight against him, how he defeated me one on one.

I still did not believe any human was capable of that kind of power... only one answer popped up, he must have had the Anriu gift as well, but maybe a different version of it. He didn't seem to know anything about the move when I activated and he didn't turn black and red like Gaia and I did... and that must mean my hereditary move IS the Anriu gift... for if Gaia has this ability too and she used to be part of the Anriu, the Kuhn's ancestors must have been in the Anriu as well.

The entire Kuhn clan is secretly a part of the Anriu.

"No... it's not true!" I yelled, grabbing both of my ears in frustration and pulling them downward. I felt a slight tingle as my fur began to stand up on end once again, but this time I was feeling an odd sensation from my forehead.

It felt as if someone took a stick and scraped my forehead straight down, what was happening?

"Attention all units in the area, Gaia has been released from her cell, all units are to direct their attention to this threat ASAP"

The announcement meant more trouble, I knew that now PEF soldiers were coming, and most likely more Overminds. Gaia let out a low growl when she heard this, "Excellent... more blood..."

She had the look of a maniac, all of her fangs showing as she smiled, her eyes opened to its widest, her eyes turned dark red with the Anriu triangle substituted for her pupils. All of her black fur stood up on end, it spiked everywhere with dandruff escaping every time she moved. All 10 of her tentacles waved around freely, waiting for new prey to come to them.

"I'll save you for later..." Gaia whispered, staring at me menacingly.

"...likewise..." I whispered, knowing that we shouldn't fight each other just now when all of those PEF soldiers must have been coming this way.

My attention was directed back to that sensation I felt earlier, the long line that I felt going across my forehead. I felt it expanding as my rage grew inside, like something was opening there. I rubbed my paws against my forehead, feeling a circular bulge there.

"What is this...?" I asked myself, Gaia looked at me and began to laugh an evil laugh.

"You're letting the Third Eye get to you... weak fool... have you no willpower?" Gaia whispered, "Only a weak fool would desire the Third Eye... and if it wasn't for those damned soldiers coming this way... I would kill you right now"

I growled at Gaia, warning her not to piss me off. She did not take it as the slightest threat, she just looked away from me, not saying anything after that.

"The Third Eye... so it is true... my accusations are true... I AM a member of the Anriu... and I never knew"

"Fire in the hole!" a man yelled suddenly, tossing a Flashbang into the room, "Fuck!!!" I yelled, closing my eyes and turning away from it. Gaia did not even bother to move, the last thing I saw her do is move her tentacles upwards and that was it.

Everything turned white suddenly, the Flashbang had disorientated me even if I shut my eyes.

My vision eventually came back, and my hearing, but when it all came back to me I was stunned to see all 10 of Gaia's tentacles shoved into all 10 of the soldiers that stormed inside.

Gaia's true power revealed itself, it's like those tentacles served for hunting only, they were offensive AND defensive, proving a large advantage for one such as herself.

But where did that power even come from? I know for a fact that was not a hereditary ability... that's just too weird for a hereditary ability.

Gaia threw all 10 of the soldiers against the wall as she did with Lt. Perrin and his squad.

I regained my senses long enough to see one of Gaia's free tentacles creeping towards me, I jumped up and away from it silently, without a word.

"I apologize... my tentacles just love the smell of male Zangoose..." Gaia said with no emotions at all, just like Lucifer, but she didn't laugh at her own joke so she wasn't as odd as he.

Suddenly I felt the same sensation from before, not the one on my forehead, the one with the Overmind, my sight became impaired as the Overmind began bombarding my mind with messages, "Turn yourself in to the PEF..." "Do not resist..." "Resistance is not the answer..." "You cannot win..."

All of these messages at once.

With the little vision I had left, I saw Gaia destroy 2 incoming Overminds like they were nothing, they did not even have a chance to use their Psychic ability on Gaia's tentacles.

She must have done it incredibly fast.

"There must be more fresh blood awaiting me through here... I'll let you go... for now, but I WILL be back to claim your blood one day... just not now" Gaia whispered, walking through the entrance from whence I came, leaving me inside of the room by myself.

"Bullshit... I could've taken her..." I whispered, trying to find the shortcut to PER that Lt. Perrin and his soldiers were talking about.

A while of searching lead me to a door that was nearby the chamber that kept Gaia asleep for who knows how long.

I felt frightened as I walked through the door, what have I unleashed on the world? Did the PEF really abandon her inside of that chamber and lock all of the doors for a reason that I do not know about? Does Gaia have a history with the PEF?

I'm afraid it would take me a while to figure all of this information out, but in the meantime I had to find Lucifer and save my sister.

This place was surprisingly empty, I would have expected Overminds around every corner and soldiers patrolling the area constantly. Did Lucifer really destroy all of the PEF defenses in the area with that one attack or is this place just always empty?

"Move, move, move!"

I guess I underestimated them. The sounds of 5 soldiers' boots ramming against the metallic floor was heard, quickly I hid in another shadowy location much like the other one, between two doors.

"We can't let them escape!" one of the soldiers yelled as they all sprinted past me and advanced where I was heading myself. I decided to follow them for Lucifer should be the one they are talking about and they should lead me to him.

The soldiers ran slowly, most likely weighed down with all of the crap they had until finally one of the soldiers jumped up and kicked on of the non-metallic doors open, just a normal wooden door where the interior looked like a hospital room.

"Freeze mother fuckers!" the soldier who kicked open the door yelled.

Lucifer's dark physique revealed itself once again when he charged right through the soldiers with his staff tightly clinched in his right paw and Sydney safely on his back. He sprinted towards me, his hood still over her head, the soldiers frozen for some reason but once Lucifer passed me and signaled that I should follow, the soldiers' stomachs burst out blood all over the walls as they collapsed suddenly.

"I have Sydney, but if we wish to get out of here before the PEF reinforcements arrive, we must move quickly..." Lucifer yelled as he ran right through the chamber which I freed Gaia in.

I followed close behind, realizing what has happened to my sister. She really was part of the Anriu, her fur was black and dark red just like mine and she had the third eye opened even if she was unconscious.

On the way we passed by a huge electric box contraption, I knew that Lucifer was going straight for this before we left, "If I take this thing out, the entire building will explode so we must move out fast!" Lucifer yelled.

I did not respond for I didn't even have a chance to say Negative or Affirmative before Lucifer stabbed the electrical box with his staff, pulling it out instantly afterwards, "Let's go!" he yelled, approaching a window and diving through it.

"Are you fucking serious?!" I yelled as I dove through as well. Once Lucifer hit the ground he caught me with a skinny red beam that escaped his paws.

I kept running for I knew the building was going to explode, but when I got to a safe distance I witnessed Lucifer only walking away from the building as if the explosion was no threat at all.

"Lucifer, what are you doing?!" I yelled, only concerned with the fact that Sydney was on his back and if Lucifer gets killed so will she.

BOOM

The explosion went off, the only thing I could do was look away in horror knowing very well that Lucifer and Sydney could not have survived.

I turned towards them once more just to see all of the fire and dirt that escaped the building that rushed through and past almost every corner of the city and to my relief I saw Lucifer walking through the fire, his red shield covering Sydney and himself.

"Oh crap..."

The sounds of approaching propellers was heard, could it have been the reinforcements that were requested earlier?

"All units, open fire on the hostiles ahead..." a young man ordered over a loudspeaker.

I witnessed almost 12 helicopters flying towards us, their front guns opening fire. Quickly, I ducked behind an abandoned car that must have been left when Lucifer and I charged the city.

"That's it... my patience has officially run out..." Lucifer growled, gently putting Sydney down and rushed towards the firing helicopters as if he knew they weren't going to succeed in hitting him.

"IRMORESO-APOCOLYPSE: THE ANRIU EYE!"

Those words must have meant something drastic and deadly, it must have been something to take all of those helicopters out at once.

Then a thought came up, "This is my chance to run away from him with Sydney!"

I took her in my arms and began to run away, the town silent as passed by as if I would kill them on sight. I kept running northbound, going up Route 115 and heading towards Fallarbor town. I knew there just had to be a PD Checkpoint somewhere along the way where Sydney and I could rejuvenate.

"We've got hostiles..." a young man said in the distance over a loudspeaker inside of the helicopter. I turned around only to see Lucifer jumping straight up in front of the helicopters, his entire body in the Cross position as he began to glow a bright white color, almost blinding the entire city with the light.

"What trickery is this?!" the man yelled, his voice echoing throughout the city.

It was so bright that all of the shadows in the city were eliminated, until the light sucked back into Lucifer and exploded, turning into a huge white ball and expanding across the entire city, finally turning into the shape of an eyeball.

"...this is the true power of the Anriu..." these words spoken by a female echoed through my mind as I shut my eyes.
