Chapter 7

Ch. 7

"Thank you nurse." The doctor hands the nurse a syringe. The doctor picks up a clip board and writes something down on it.
"Will that be all doctor?"
"Well, all we have to do now is wait and see the results of the drug and monitor his vitals for any changes."
A hospital at the edge of town. On the fifth floor. A room at the end of the building, with a window facing West. The evening sun just a little while before it sets beyond the horizon. The sun sending orange and red colors across the horizon. Surrounding the clouds, the last of the suns rays were casting their golden rays around the clouds. Along with their silver lining it would have been a wonderful sight except.
A women walks into the hospital room and looks at the doctor who was just standing.
"Is their any change in his condition doctor?"
"I am sorry miss, but there is no change. We administered a shot of adrenaline just a few moments ago and are waiting to see the results." The machines started beeping a little faster as the adrenaline started to take effect, but as soon as they changed the machines returned back to normal.
"Well that was interesting."
"What do you mean doctor?" The nurse asked.
"What I mean is that shot should have given him an elevated heart rate of a runner and lasted for at least half an hour." The lady laughed.
"You obviously don't know my son. A simple shot like that is just like is warm up for one of his sparing matches. If you really want to give him a jolt that will last that long then I suggest that you double that shot that you just gave him." She said with a smile that turned into a fine laugh. "Even when he is in this coma he still makes me laugh."
"Mommy is big brother awake yet?" A small girl around the age of seven walks into the room carrying a pitcher full of different flowers.
"I'm sorry Cathy, but there is no change." The mother said to her daughter. The mother was a kind women around her mid 30's. She had blond hair and was about 5'10" tall. She was wearing a light blue shirt tucked into a pair of jeans. The little girl looked almost exactly like her mother only she was a lot shorter, her hair was in braids, and tied behind her head. She was wearing a small dress that was covered in bright yellow flowers. The little girl walked around the bed and placed the pitcher on a nightstand next to the bed.
The little girl walked over to her mother and she hugged her mothers legs. "How long has it been mom, since big brother went to sleep?"
"Its been at least a week since your brother was struck by lightning."
"Mother why was it that big brother was struck by lightning, and do you ever think that he will wake up?" Tears started to form in the girls eyes. The mother pulled the girl into a tighter hug and knelt down.
"You know your brother better than us, you know that he had been in tougher spots than this. Don't you." The little girl wiped away a few tears with her finger.
"Your right mom. Big brother has been in tougher fights than this." She pulled away from her mothers embrace and crawled up onto the bed and lay down next to her brother. "Look mom I think he's dreaming." The lady walks over and looks down upon her son. Sure enough the young boys eyes were moving quite rapidly under his shut lids. An obvious sign of REM sleep.
"Well my young son, I hope that your dream is filled with happiness." She reaches down and ruffles the boys hair and the little girl pulls out a book and starts to read to the sleeping boy.
