A Rare Sight by wxyzz

Story Notes:

This is my first ever story posted on here, and although it took me forever to type this I think it'll all be worth it. Just like the Pokemon television series, my mind is full of ideas and I will not stop writing my story(stories) until my mind is nothing but an empty space.  Anyways, have fun reading my story as much as I did writing it.

Chapter 11

A Rare Sight

Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder: Part Two

I walked out to the middle of the arena, waving to everyone once again.  I walked to my designated spot and watched as my opponent came out of the curtain.  She had this dress that was covered with flowers and skipped like a little schoolgirl, I began to chuckle just how she acted.  We both walked over to the middle and shook hands.

“Hey there handsome, my name’s Lauren, what’s your name tee hee?”

I had an “are you serious?” face when she introduced herself.

“My uh…Garrett.”

“Ohhh I like that name.”

“Yeahhhhh whatever, good luck I guess.”

“You to sweetie.”

We both then walked, well one did, to their designated spots.  From the corner of my eye, I saw Chole in her original form, her eyes were closed and her paws began to glow blue, I started to smirk and folded my arms, waiting for my opponent to make her move.  Lauren then threw out her Pokeball and an explosion of hearts flew out, the shape of a Corsola began to form.

“Ohhh you’re so cute my Corsola, hey Garrett where’s your…”

Mist began to form all around the arena; sight was becoming difficult.  After thirty seconds, you couldn’t even see your hand in front of your face.

“Hmm, nice opening Chole,” I thought to myself.

Soon enough, the fog faded and you could see Chole’s Espeon form, she was already in her battle stance.  The crowd was confused on what happened but otherwise began to cheer at what just happened.

“OHHHHHH SHE’S SO CUTE,” Lauren yelled out.

“Heh; alright Chole go crazy.”

Chole turned her head back at me and made an evil smirk.

“Corsola baby, use Bubblebeam!”

Corsola then took a deep breath and blew out a stream of bubbles heading toward Chole.  Closer and closer the bubbles came at Chole but not once did I say a word, my mind however, was.

“Garrett, can you hear me?” I heard Chole’s voice in my mind.

“Chole?  How are you doing this?”  I thought to Chole.

“A little trick we Mews have; alright, when I’m in this Espeon form I can use Quick Attack, Psychic, Psybeam, and Sand Attack.”

“Alright Chole, start by dodging the Bubblebeam with style and go in for an attack using Quick Attack.”

“Got it.”

Chole then did a back flip to avoid the attack, making Lauren lose some points; after she dodged the attack she disappeared and reappeared behind Corsola, ramming her head right into Corsola’s back, making Lauren lose even more points.  The attack resulted in Corcola flying through the air but she somehow landed on her feet making me lose some points.

“How the fuck did she do that without Garrett telling her what to do!!?”  Matt yelled at the television.

“Corola honey, Spike Cannon please.”

Corsola then spat out a bunch of spikes from her mouth.

“Orders?”  Chole asked me in my thoughts.

“Psychic, redirect it back at her.”

Chole’s eyes glowed purple and the spikes stopped midair, the spikes then flipped around and flew at Corsola.  No matter how much Corsola tried to dodge, she couldn’t avoid getting hit by Chole’s heat seeking missiles.  It resulted in Lauren losing a chunk load of points.

“Sand Attack and when her guard is down use Psybeam,” I thought to Chole.

“Got it.”

While Corsola was standing up, Chole appeared out of nowhere and flipped around.

“OH NO CORSOLA DARLING, LOOK OUT!!”

Too late, Chole had dug her paws into the sand and flung it into Corsola’s eyes, Lauren’s points went down as a result.  Corsola was now attempting to wipe the sand out of her eyes but there was too much.

“Now!”

Chole then jumped in the air and shot a gasoline on water colored beam at Corsola.  Corsola was hit and flew into the air as a result, after the hit the ground she didn’t get up, there was no doubt that she fainted.

The crowd began to cheer at Chole’s remarkable victory.  Chole then ran over to me and jumped into my arms.

“Nice job.”

“Thanks,” she then licked my face.

“…Was that a kiss?”

She began to blush, “nah, I uh, just wanted to try it out, see why Buddy does it all the time.”

“Oh, o…k.  Whatever, lets go.”

“Yeah.”

We took three steps into the backstage and was immediately flooded with yells coming from Matt.

“STOP RIGHT THERE, HOW THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT?!”

“Do what?” I asked.

“YOU DAMN SURE KNOW WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT, HOW DID YOU GIVE OUT ORDERS WITHOUT SAYING A WORD?”

“No need to yell dude, damn.”

“Ok, fine.  But dude tell me how you did that that was amazing!”

“Well…she’s psychic so she can read my mind using her ability I guess.”

“Was that a lie or the truth?” Chole whispered to me.

“I don’t honestly know,” I replied back.

“Go get ready Matt, I think it’s your turn now,” I said.

“Alright then, wish me luck.”

Matt then left backstage and walked out to the arena.  His opponent was already waiting for him and so both of them went to the middle, shook hands, and then threw out their Pokeballs.  Matt’s opponent threw out a Roselia, he smirked and then threw out a Blaziken.

After the fight

“Well that was fun,” Matt said, cracking his knuckles.

“Holy shit…”

“Good sir I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Matt grinned.

“I-uh-bluh-uhhh-ahh-ehh.”

“What, what was that? I didn’t hear you,” Matt began to laugh.

We then watched the other two fights on the television, it seems Chole was going against a Shiftry and Matt’s Blaziken was going against a Manectric.

“Well it seems it’s our turn again,” I whispered to Chole.

“Yup, lets go,” Chole replied.

Chole and I both walked to the middle to meet our opponent, he looked like an ordinary person, nothing special about him to be honest.

“Sup man, name’s Hunter,” he said while shaking my hand.

“Not much, my name’s Garrett,” I said, copying his actions.

“Just because your Pokemon’s a little cat doesn’t mean I’ll go easy.”

“The same goes to you.”

“Heh, I wouldn’t want it any other way; good luck.”

“You to.”

We both went to our designated spots to begin the fight.  Hunter then threw his Pokeball and sparks flew out of the ball and Hunter’s Shiftry appeared.

“Heh, top that entrance!” Hunter yelled to me.

“Tell me when,” Chole said in my thoughts.

“Now,” I said.

“You may want to step back.”

I stepped back a few feet.

“Running away are you?  Are you sc…”  The ground began to rumble and a giant crevice formed over at my side, Chole then jumped out from the crevice and landed a few feet from where I was standing.

“That was a little bit too much Chole.”

“Alright, alright sorry.”

The crevice was then somehow pushed back to its original form as if it never happened.

“Lets begin!”  I yell out to Hunter.

“With pleasure; Shiftry, use Double Team!”

Shiftry then crossed his arms in the shape of an X; all of a sudden I noticed two Shiftrys, then four, then eight.  There were eight Shiftrys in less then a second.

“Orders?”

“Get close to them all and then use Sand Attack in a spinning motion.”

“You want me to steal Linoone’s move?”

“I don’t think he’ll mind, now go.”

She then disappeared and reappeared in front of the surrounding Shiftrys.  She then began to spin in circles, creating a cloud of dust, flinging chunks of sand and rocks at the Shiftrys, it resulted in Hunter losing points.

“Linoone!” Linoone called out and began to laugh.

“Shiftry, X-Scissor!”

Although Chole made all eight Shiftrys temporarily blind, she was surrounded.  All eight Shiftrys then crossed their arms and began to glow in the form of an X.”

“Look out Chole!”

Too late, she was hit and was sent flying through the air, making me lose some points.

“Land it, and then use Quick Attack!” I thought to Chole.

“This is only the beginning,” Chole replied.

Chole then landed on her feet in the most graceful way you can imagine and then disappeared without even having time to recuperate, it made Hunter lose some points.  Chole reappeared in an instant, standing right behind one of the Shiftrys, she rammed into its back but it disappeared, it turned out to only be a clone.  Chole did this seven times in less than three seconds; she stopped when the real one was only left, it made Hunter lose some points.

“Bullet Seed!”

Shiftry then took a deep breath and fired multiple shots at Chole.

“Dodge it.”

Chole then began to dodge the attack, dodging hundreds of bullets in seconds while attempting to dodge them in style.  Back flips, front flips, barrel rolls, and many other types of gymnastic flips, it made Hunter lose a lot of points but Shiftry got the last laugh.  His shots had directed Chole into a corner and had finally got a hit out of her, she wasn’t hit badly but it caused me to lose a chunk of points.

“This isn’t working Garrett.”

“I know, I guess I have no choice but to let you loose, you’re a wild Pokemon still so start going crazy.”

“I can’t be responsible for what happens to him you know.”

“Neither can I, just do it until I can think of a plan.”

“Alright.”

Chole then disappeared and reappeared with a Psybeam attack pointed right at Shiftry’s head, making direct contact and losing some of his master’s points.  It sent him flying to a wall but stuck the landing and making me lose points as well.

“Razor Leaf!”

Shiftry then lunged at Chole, throwing razor sharp leafs at Chole.  But Chole was off the leash which meant free will; she disappeared before the leaves even got close and reappeared with another Psybeam at Shiftry’s back, pummeling toward the ground and making a small mushroom dirt cloud.  Shiftry was unconscious and we had won the match.

“I got it!”

“Got what?”  Chole replied.

The crowd began to clap and cheer for our second victory.

“Oh, uhhh nevermind.”

Chole then jumped into my arms and we both walked backstage

“DUUUUUDDDEEE THAT WAS AWESOME.”

“Uhhh, thanks.”

“High five Chole,” Matt stuck out his hand.

Chole didn’t even make eye contact and fell asleep to regain some of her strength.

“O…k”

“Sorry, she can be a little self absorbed sometimes.”

“Ah, well I suppose it’s my turn,” Matt waved goodbye.

“Good luck out there.”

“Don’t wish me luck; just be ready for our battle.”

Matt then left backstage and entered the arena.

“Alright Chole we got to strategize.”

“What do you have in mind?”

“Well we already know that he has a Blaziken.”

“Duh.”

“And from his last battle, I’ve seen her use Quick Attack, Ember, Fire Punch, and Sky Uppercut; these all are moves to take out your opponent quick and easy, so I guess we’ll just have to fight back the same way.”

“So what do you have in mind?”

“Well…”

After the Battle

“Well that was fun; I would be getting ready for the final battle if I were you.”

“Yeah you’re right.”

I then took Chole to a corner and began to heal her scratches and bruises with a potion.

“Thanks.”

“No problem, I can’t have you hurt before we start the final battle.”

Chole began to blush.

“So do you know the plan?”

“Yeah, I got it.”

“Just make sure you don’t get cocky, we don’t know what Matt has up his sleeve.”

“Awww, but I like being cocky.”

“I’m serious Chole.”

“Alright, fine.”

“Oh and Chole.”

“What?”

“Walk out with me, no need to make big entrances anymore.”

“Awwwww.  Ok.”

“Good now lets give them hell!”

Chole shook her head.  I then felt a hand on my shoulder, it was Matt.

“It’s time dude, lets do it.”

“Alright.”

We all left backstage and entered the arena.

“You’re not going to put Chole in your Pokeball?”  Matt said to me.

“Nah, I think she had enough big entrances for today.”

We both walked to the middle and shook hands.

“Ready to lose Garrett?”

“Just don’t cry when we kick your ass.”

“Ha ha, alright dude good luck.”

“You to man.”

We both then walked over to opposite ends to begin the match.  Matt threw his Pokeball and an explosion of fire was spat out, followed by his Blaziken.

“Now!” I thought to Chole.

Before Blaziken could even get into her battle stance, she was hit by a volley of Quick Attacks, making Blaziken scoot back a few yards and making Matt lose points.

“Impatient are we?  Well then, Blaziken use Quick Attack!”

Hearing her master’s orders, Blaziken immediately disappeared and reappeared behind Chole.

“Counterattack!”

Chole flipped around and her skull met contact with Blaziken’s foot, sending them both flying opposite ways and making us both lose points.

“Again Blaziken!”

“You to Chole!”

“Right,” Chole said in my thoughts.

Both Chole and Blaziken began to hit mindlessly at each other within seconds, neither one holding back.

“Do a few more Blaziken then hit her with a Fire Punch!”

“Move onto part two,” I thought to Chole.

“Got it.”

Chole and Blaziken were still hitting each other when Blaziken’s hand exploded with fire and started to lunge at Chole.  Chole just grinned, her eyes began to glow purple and started to take control of Blaziken’s hand.  Because this was still a contest, Chole started to toy with Blaziken, making her twirl and flip and do other types of silly moves, it made Matt lose a chunk of points.

“Now,” I thought to Chole.

Chole then flung Blaziken at the wall using Psychic and making Matt lose even more points.  He would have lost more if Blaziken had hit the wall, but she had stuck the landing and struck Chole with her Fire Punch resulting in me losing points as well.

“AHHHH damn!”  Chole said in my thoughts.

Blaziken lunged at Chole again but she dodged at the very last second.

“Are you alright?”  I ask Chole.

“No…ughhhh, that fucking chicken burned my side.”

“Sky Uppercut!”

“We need to move onto part three Chole.”

“Alright, ughhh.”

Chole stood her ground when Blaziken got closer and closer, it was when Blaziken was about to make contact when Chole spat out a Psybeam right in Blaziken’s chest.  Before she was sent flying, Blaziken grabbed Chole’s neck.

“Fire punch!”

Blaziken’s hand then exploded with fire and made contact with Chole’s chest, sending both of them flying from the Psybeam and the Fire Punch.  Matt and I ended up losing a chunk of points, it seemed whoever made the next direct hit would be the winner.

“AHHHHHHH…GOD DAMNIT IT BURNS SO BAD!” Chole yelled in my mind.

“Come on Chole hang on for a bit more, you can do it.”

Chole slowly began to stand up.

“I can’t go on anymore Garrett.”

“Don’t say that Chole, you can do it.”

Blaziken slowly stood up, “Blaziken, Fire Punch last time!”

“It seems that we’re going to have to wing it, I got an idea…”

Blaziken’s hand blew up with fire and began to lunge at Chole.

“You know if it doesn’t work and she hits me I could get seriously injured.”

“You won’t Chole, I believe in you.”

Closer and closer Blaziken got to Chole.

“Whatever you say Garrett.”

Finally, Blaziken was close enough to make contact when all of a sudden, Chole flung chunks of sand right into Blaziken’s eyes.

“BLAAAZZEEE!”  Blaziken yelled out.

Blaziken attempted to wipe the sand off of her eyes but accidentally burned herself from her own flames.

“Now!”

Chole painfully stood up and jumped onto Blaziken, she then blew a Psybeam right onto Blaziken’s chest, sending her flying and slamming onto the wall.  We had won the match.

I was immediately flooded with deafening cheers and booming roars from the uncontrollable crowd from our ultimate victory.

I quickly ran over to Chole and picked her up

“Chole are you alright?” I whispered to her.

“Ughhhh, no.  Hurry and take me to a bathroom or an empty room.”

I waved to the crowd and walked backstage with Chole in my arms.

“Hey Garrett wait up…GARRETT, WAIT UP COMON MAN!” Matt tried to get my attention but I was too busy following Chole’s orders.

I walked into a bathroom and placed Chole down on one of those diaper changers.

“There you are man, dude that was amazing.  Since I started, no one could ever beat my Blaziken how did you…”

“Now’s not the time Matt, Chole’s really hurt.”

“Then take her to a Pokemon Cent…”

“It’s not that simple.”

“What do you mean?”

“Just tell him,” Chole spoke to me.

“Who was that?”  Matt asked.

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah…I’m sure ughhhhh.”

“Did your Espeon just talk?!”

I turned to Matt.

“Yes she did.”

“How did she…”

“Before I tell you, you must swear to me that you must not tell anyone.”

“I-uh.”

“Matt, if you don’t swear to me right now I will officially end our friendship.”

“Alright, damn.  What the FUCK is going on here?”

I turn to Chole and gave her an alright nod.  Her body began to glow, and in a flash of light she was in her original form.

Matt pointed to Chole with a frightened look on her face.

“T-that’s a Mew!”

“Yeah, I met her at the beginning of my journey”

“HOW DID YOU CATCH HER?!”

“I didn’t catch her, she’s still wild.  She just follows me around.”

“You’re lying, there’s something more.”

“*Sigh* she trusts me with her life because I saved her from some Houndoom.”

“That’s awesome; never in my life would I be…”

“AHHHHHH….UGHHHHHH!”

“Chole!”

“Don’t worry Garrett, ughhh, I’ll be fine.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah.”

“HOW, you’re badly injured,” Matt said.

“Heh, don’t underestimate me kid.”

All of a sudden, her body began to glow green and her burns and cuts were slowly receding to our very eyes.  After only two minutes, she looked like she never even went into battle, but fainted after her healing was over.

Both Matt and I were flabbergasted; we didn’t know what just happened.  I went to pick her up and slowly shook her until she was awake.

“Chole that was amazing,” I said.

She began to blush.

“How did you do that?!”  Matt asked.

“Hehe, I told you not to underestimate me.”

“Chole, are you alright?”

“Yeah Garrett I’m better now, I just passed out from using too much power to heal my wounds.”

“Do you think you have enough power to turn back into an Espeon so we can go back out there?”

“I-I think I’ll have just enough but I’ll have to go to sleep after.”

Chole then glowed white and changed back into an Espeon.

“Come on Garrett, lets go out there to get your award.”

“You’re still going to let us have the award after we did something like that?”

“Yeah, why not.  I mean you still gave out orders even though I never heard anything.  Plus I think it would mean a lot if Ruby won something like a ribbon.”

“Thanks dude, you’re a good friend,” I hit his shoulder.

“No problem, oh and Garrett.”

“Yeah?”

“Your secret is safe with me; but, don’t think I’ll go easy on you next time.”

I laughed, “the same goes to you.”

I then pick up Chole and walk back to the arena to receive the award.

“Lar!!”  Ruby pulled at my pant leg.

“Oh I’m sorry Ruby, almost forgot about you,” I knelt down and placed Ruby on my shoulders.

I then walk out with Ruby on my shoulders and Chole in my arms, fast asleep.  The host was already standing at the middle of the arena with a box in her hands.

“I understand this is your first contest,” the host said to me.

“Yeah, it is.”

“Well take this little holder that will keep your ribbons safe.”

“Thanks.”

“LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I WOULD LIKE TO PRESENT THE WINNER OF SLATEPORT CITY’S CONTEST: GARRETT, RUBY, AND CHOLE!!”

The crowd begins to go crazy, cheering and clapping.

“I am proud to present you the Slateport City Ribbon as an award.”

“LARR!!”  Ruby cheered and reached out to grab the ribbon.

I took the ribbon from the host and gave it to Ruby; its primary color was green and had blue stripes around it with a golden circle to keep the ribbon in place.

Ruby’s eyes began to water and she started to hug the ribbon.  I then waved to the crowd and walked backstage.

“You like it Ruby?”

“Lar!”  Her eyes were almost as big as her head.

“I bet Chole would be just as happy as you are when she wakes up.”

“Lar!”  Ruby agreed.

“Eevee!”

“Treeco Tree!”

“Linoone!”

Buddy, Linoone, and Treeco had come backstage to congratulate our win.

“Hey there guys, look.”

Ruby reached out with the ribbon to give them a better look at it.  Everyone was in awe when they saw it.

“Wow, that’s a nice looking ribbon,” Matt said when he entered the backstage.

“Thanks.”

“Almost makes me regret that I let you win.”

“Ohhhh so you thought you went easy on me.”

“Of course, this was nothing.”

“Ok, sureeee.”

“Whatever helps you sleep at night Garrett.”

We all began to laugh.

“So what do you plan on doing now Garrett?”

“Well once Chole is awake, we plan on going to Mauville City to get my third badge.”

“Oh yeah I forgot you were a gym person.”

“Yeah.”

We start to talk for another fifteen minutes, catching up on what’s new and meeting each other’s Pokemon.  It was when Chole’s eyes began to open.

“Hey there Chole, you’re awake I see.”

“Yeah, I feel much better now.”

“Look at this,” I show the ribbon to Chole.

“Awesome, it was so worth it,” she began to smile.

“Are you ready to move onto the next town?”

“Yeah, b-but can you carry me a bit more?  I’m still weak and need more sleep.”

“No problem,” I placed the ribbon case in my backpack and placed it on my back.

We all walked outside and stopped at the northern entrance to Slateport City.

“So this is when we must depart I’m afraid.”

“You always were rushing to get something done Garrett.”

“No doubt, hey you wanna tag along with us?”

“Nah you go on ahead, I’m going to stay here until the next contest.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah, but don’t think we’ll never see each other again, I’ll be back to get my revenge on you.”

“Of course you will.”

We both knuckle punched each other and gave each other a slap on the shoulder and waved goodbye as we walked to our next destination: Mauville City.
