Episode 053: Unrelenting Vices

Author Note: I canceled the seminar to write the second episode this month. I want to write three for December, and I want to take my time. As nameofnoimportance pointed out, my detail has lacked in some spots. As I told him, trying to shove 10 hours of activities in a 5 hour span of time isn't easy. I hope Episodes 054, 055, and 056 will be in before 07 and make up for it. Sorry if anything has disappointed you, I know I am in more things than just my writing...

Forgotten Instincts
Episode 053
"Unrelenting Vices"
By Darfix

Having been placed on his stomach, Kyotsu was able to easily withdrawal the water from his lungs even in his unconscious state. Under these conditions, Kyotsu is ejected from his forced slumber as some time passes. His eyes slowly open as he feels his body is rather worse for wear.

After a few mild stretches in testing for any damage, Kyotsu soon attempts to rise to all fours. Before doing so, the smell of a wet raccoon catches his nose. He turns his head and notices the Zigzagoon at his side. He also discovers a trail in the sand, indicating she had forced her broken body from one end of the small beach to his end, apparently to assist him or whatever else she may have done that task for. He was convinced she had good intentions, thus causing a slight smile for form on his maw. He felt a need to repay her.

He was certain the reason for her current sleep, coupled with the obvious trip down stream, might be because of something she did for him. Maybe she helped pull him from the water? He did not know. Regardless, he lifts himself up and lies himself down over her cold, wet body. If nothing else, the now weakened flame within him may be just enough to warm her up and pull her from her unconsciousness.

While Kyotsu and Edge struggle in a battle against mother nature, Kyotsu's parents continue their search for their offspring. Systematic with this is the search, led by Tiasha, and their efforts to locate their missing comrades. With Tiasha is Kyotsu's sister, Subaki, his love interest, Litivia, and the Eevee, Konya.

Tiasha had assumed command the instant she woke up. Though she was rather angry with Niktsu for their previous fight, she still seemed to contain a sense of worry for the Flareon that she dare not show visibly to the other females. Though Subaki, Litivia, and Konya were tired from the search, all three had their own reasons as well, to continue the search, which is what seems to be keeping them going.

"Something bad has had to have happened," Subaki says softly, finding it too coincidental that they would lose three members at the same time.

"It's obvious something isn't right, Subaki...but I am not going to stop until I find your brother," Litivia interjects, being extremely dedicated to finding the male of her dreams.

Konya, being the meek and mild type, kept to herself. She personally worried for all, but her mind laid to rest mainly on the one who had saved her from the inevitability of being the sex toy to several perverted males.

Tiasha's ears receive every bit of dialog that is spoken by the females behind her. It quickly saps her patience, "Alright, I get the pictureâ"but whining about them being gone won't bring them back. Let's stop pussyfooting about it and get down to some actual searching..."

Though the Mightyena's choice in words were less than friendly, her antics prove effective enough to silence the girls, causing them to go right back to focusing on the matter at paw.

Previously, Darfix and Niktsu had found themselves surrounded by a moderately sized group of Mightyenas, apparently followers to Skylia's would-be-mate's father. Takashu, the Poochyena designated as Skylia's mate by the ways of the tribe, was not present. However, it is apparent that his father, Tardro, Yukon's apparent enemy, had taken it upon himself to dedicate a team of his best to locate Skylia. It would not take much understanding of how power effects the minds of others to figure out that this Mightyena's apparent interest in Skylia was merely so that he could gain control of the tribe through his son's relationship with the chief's daughter. Whether the chief, Xauzo, knew of Tardro's reasons or not remains to be seen.

Niktsu, in a flood of worry for Skylia's well being, decides to attempt a counter response to Tardro's apparent threat to kill both the Flareon and the Eevee. However, before he can speak his words, no doubt clouded with his emotions, Darfix speaks up in his place and says, "You know, you are wasting your time..."

"Oh? And how is that?" Tardro asks, giving the Eevee a considerably cold look because of his response.

"Whatâ"you don't even know of your own tribe's customs?" the Eevee questions whilst quirking a brow, "Since Skylia is now holding the offspring of my friend here, that would make him and her next in line to control the tribe. Needless to say, that killing himâ"your future leader, would probably not bode to well with her or her father."

Silence falls onto the group after the previous words were spoken. The two parties found themselves in a sticky stale mate. Tardro could easily just kill Niktsu and Darfix, as well as Skylia, and then claim to his superior, Xauzo, that he had found Skylia slain at the paws of the Flareon and Eevee. However, that would mean his son would not mate Skylia, and he would not gain the power he sought. Unknowing to Darfix and Niktsu, but known well to the Mightyenas present, Xauzo has a second daughter, but she is a little younger and not yet ready to be mated. As such, assuming that killing Skylia would not cause some of his loyal followers to turn on him right then and there, to guarantee that his son would become Skylia's sister's mate would be impossible. Even if it was for certain, it would be awhile yet before she could be accepted as a mate. In that time something could happen to her and he'd be in the same position he is now.

However, on the other side of the coin, he could let them live and attempt to bring them back as prisoners. Doing this would most likely reveal that he is a liar, when Skylia tells her father of her affection for the Flareon. But, if what Tardro said is true, Niktsu's intercourse with Skylia might be nullified by the fact that she was just entering her first heat and according to Tardro, thus made her untouchable by tribe standards.

Both sides had a lot to lose over a small detail that it would leave no one ready to jump to a conclusion. Thus the reason for the silence.

Finally, Skylia speaks up at a timid whisper, "You cannot kill them, I will not allow it," she speaks, directing her voice mainly to the pawn soldiers that followed Tardro, "As one of the future leaders of your tribe, and as the chief's daughter, I..."

"Shove it!" Tardro cuts her off, snapping at her muzzle. Though not making contact, his message was clear and it sent Niktsu into a rage.

The Flareon immediately sprouts flames from his muzzle and takes one step towards Tardro, causing about half of the Mightyenas around them to stand ready.

Tardro tears his gaze from Skylia, his eyes falling back on the Flareon, "What? You think you could get a single attack off before my troop ripped your throat out in the blink of an eye? Don't make me laugh..."

"Don't forget," Darfix starts in a low voice, for he was in fact, terrified, though hiding it partially well, "...killing him would make you a murderer to a fellow tribe member now...if your chief found out..."

"Then I would just have to kill her, and youâ"and take my chances convincing him that you two murdered her after forcing yourselves on her." the Mightyena responds calmly. His statement appears to have different effects on those who chose to follow him this day. A great deal of them seem to have no difference of opinion as they did before, but based on facial expressions, about the same amount seem to be having second thoughts. To follow someone who could kill the daughter of his own leader definitely did not seem like a wise idea in the minds of those who had some sense of a conscience. A small percentage seem to be having different thoughts, some probably as weird as to deciding on what to do with the young Poochyena before killing her.

Tardro continues after a period of silence used to eyeball the reactions of his soldiers to his previous statement, "Besides, I doubt my chief will be very sympathetic, giving how much older you are to herâ"and your species."

This did leave Darfix and Niktsu at a significant disadvantage. They had no idea what this chief was like. He could easily be a psychotic tyrant, or perhaps a blood thirsty warlord? If they were lucky, Tardro was bluffing and he was a kind, understanding leader. Skylia would know better than any, but would she have the strength to speak up after Tardro's physical threat?

Another moment of silent passes before Darfix finally says, "...seems we're all in quite a bind here..."

"...seems so..." Tardro replies with a soft grunt while eyeing the Eevee impatiently.

Back at Destiny's family den, Yurala had finally managed to get some sleep, for she had not received any since her husband left to go find Destiny. Having her mind and body physically exhausted, fatigue finally caught up with her and she slipped into a heavy sleep, leaving Yukoni awake within her tails.

Yukoni, however, still could not sleep. She managed to get some last night and thus had some energy to spare. Slowly, she manages to free herself from her mother's tails without causing her to awaken. Her youth and innocence are blazingly obvious, for leaving her mother to find her sister and her sister's male friend would only leave one more individual to find. However, these things are clouded by the fact that she is blind to everything but finding Darfix, Destiny, and even her father. Whoever played top priority on that list would not be known.

Though naive and young, she isn't completely foolish. She makes a quick stop to the food storage part of the den before heading out to search. Taking a small twig of berries into her muzzle, she would at least have one meal to last her in case she needed it.

With this food and an unlimited amount of determination, she bounds out of the den and rushes off into the woods, putting a lot of hope on what would easily be considered a suicide mission to most.

Meanwhile, Destiny shivers in significant fear while sharing her "cell" with Yukon and his other cronies. The males had managed to busy themselves with a confusing game involving berries of different shapes, sizes and colors. It appears to be a form of gambling that she would normally have little interest in, but being stuck in isolation with criminals and no way out, almost anything would look worth trying at that point. Though she lacked the courage to ask to play, she does not ignore the conversations they share and listening to the apparent rules of the game.

Her moment of knowledge gathering is cut short when a large Seviper slithers into the den, looking for lack of better words, quite messed up.

His presence is immediately made known and the Noctowl flaps his wings quickly to glide on over to the huge serpent. Immediately, Yukon asks, "What the hell happened, Cyanide?!"

"That Flareon..." he grumbles, "But it doesn't matterâ"Edge never reported back to me...she never came back from her mission with that Vulpix kid."

"Is that so...?" Yukon asks in a voice ridden with skepticism, "It isn't like her to fail...are you sure, perhaps things didn't become complicated and she perhaps just had to ride his cock to get him to be a good boy?" the Noctowl adds, a bit of a grin forming on his beak.

"Though that is a possibility, I would have expected her back by now, sir..." Cyanide responds, sighing a bit, "Sorry, sir..."

Destiny's curiosity had been aroused at this point. She wonders who this "Edge" might be, and who this Vulpix is she apparently was ordered to "subdue". There was no way in telling if this story was intertwined with her own some how, but for some reason she figured it might be.

"Well, you know what needs to be done...rally some of the others, and go find her, dammit..." Yukon orders, still maintaining flight over the others.

"Yes sir...!" Cyanide replies, selecting a few of the others quickly and leaving the den once again. Leaving with Cyanide is a Skarmory, a Houndour, and a Raichu.

At this point, Yukon is left apparently alone with Destiny, but the young vixen knew better than to assume such. If she made any form of an attempt to escape, he might call someone from somewhere, and make good on his previous threat. Instead, she remains silent and tries to ignore the Noctowl.

However, the Noctowl cannot ignore her and is fast to make her aware of this, "Soâ"I trust the stay has been decently comfortable so far?"

Destiny does not reply.

"You know, for awhile now, I have been wondering...just why it is your mate was so eager to turn back into an Eevee. I mean, I've seen girls your size pair up with males even bigger than an Umbreon. If it was the size of his pipe you were afraid of and all..."

"Males in general," Destiny interrupts with a light sigh, "I did not trust males in general...he changed because, I think he wanted me to be stronger than him...so I would know that if he ever did something I did not like, I could subdue him..."

Yukon chuckles a little and prunes his wings for just a moment before responding back to her, "What? You have a brother that was more than friendly with you and your sister? Your father perhaps? Or did you just have bad experiences with a male on more than one occasion?"

Destiny bares her teeth slightly at the Noctowl's apparent joy in this conversation. She tired of it quickly, "I was not molested by family..." she retorts quickly, saying nothing more.

Yukon always was good at reading other individuals. Her reply was a dead ringer to him as to deciding her reasons. "So, you were molested. Tell me, did it happen a lot of times? Who did it? How did he or they do it?"

If the Noctowl's goal was to keep her in a state of discomfort so she would focus largely on other things besides escape, it was working well. She quickly grew uncomfortable, being reminded of her pre-Darfix days. She has a difficult time clearing her throat after that question, but makes an attempt to end the conversation with one simple sentence.

"Depends on your definition of a lot..."
