Chapter 4 The Ruins of old

They journeyed deeper into the forest, darkness shrouding them. They only light within was the torch that Langlas carries with him, lit and at the ready. Everyone but Dourin was in their balls as they walked through a grove of trees. A wind blew through the forest, extinguishing his torch and enveloping them in darkness. Before Langlas could light another one, two creatures walked out from behind some bushes opposite of them. Both were about 6 feet tall but their skin was purple or a dark green, and both had weapons at the ready. Langlas whispered, "Orcs, the power of the enemy has even reached here." As they got closer, Langlas readied his sword. From one of the Orcs, "Nothings here, we need to head back." "I don't see why we need to be out here anyway, not like danger is in forest as long as he is here." The torch bearer turned, "No matter, we return to base, wait for more at gate." Langlas smirked, 'We can follow them to the ruins, this day gets better for me.' Langlas returned Dourin inside his ball, sheathed his sword and followed quietly after them.

The Orcs met up with more of their patrols as they went further into the forest. One yelled, "This forest is so big, why don't we knock more trees over." One behind him slapped him from behind, "Fool, you want creatures to be angry, remember when we first come, kill half of our patrols. If not for master, we would no be here." The others grumbled or talked amongst themselves as they continued to walk, Langlas close behind. "Look we back at ruins now we rest and wake up night patrol." Before them was a large complex of ruins, looking to expand several hundred feet in front of them. Langlas was in awe of the structure but quickly moved inside.

Langlas released his team inside and spoke in a low whisper, "We are now in the structure where this 'evil' and my portal home is. Be weary for there are many Orcs within, avoid conflict but if in trouble dispatch them quickly and quietly." His team nodded and ventured further in. From above a cloaked figure stood on a pillar. "Took them long enough, time to tell the master" and just like that he was gone.

Further in, a large spaced room with ruined purple carpets lying around the floor, the other cloaked figure stood in front of a large gateway which glowed as faint tint of blue and white. The smaller one approached and kneeled down, "Master they have arrived in the fortress." The larger one spoke, "Is everything ready for them to get here?" "Yes sir, we've done everything as instructed." "Good make doubly sure they get here and rally my elite guard to meet here as well." "Of course master, I'll send for them at once." Again, in the blink of an eye he was gone. The larger one walked to the throne which was slightly destroyed in front of the portal and sat down. "Soon Langlas soon."

Langlas barely ran into any orcs while exploring the area, either they were going for patrol or asleep at their posts. "They run a tight group around here don't they?" It was a rhetorical question but his team responded anyway with various shakes of the head. Just as they responded a shout came from down the hall, "Halt intruders!" Running down the hall way three orcs drawing out their axes barred down upon Langlas's crew. "Scatter and kill them" Langlas ordered. Crebain flew up to them using a close quarters Screech into their ears, which caused them to cover their ears. Bryult took this time to use confusion on one of the orcs to swing his axe and cut into his comrade's arm. Dourin, considering what Langlas said earlier, let loose a flamethrower which engulfed one of the orcs, his screams echoing through the halls as he was slowly consumed by the flames. While clutching his arm, the bleeding orc grabbed Crebain out the air and slammed him to the ground and was about to step on him until Poochy jumped and used Crunch on his jugular. The last one was taken care of by both Bryult and Langlas, Bryult held him in place while Langlas chopped off his head.

The sounds of battle had echoed through the ruins and the sounds of many orcs either running or shouting were heard from behind them. "There goes being quiet. We're moving. NOW!" Langlas and his crew started sprinting down the corridors trying to dodge more trouble before bursting into a small room to rest. Langlas wasn't very tired but his team didn't have the endurance he has. "The portal is most likely in the middle or other side of the ruins but with all these orcs there is a high possibility we'll run into more fighting. If we do, kill them quickly. We don't want to drag out a battle." Just as he finished a voice echoed throughout the entire complex "Elite guard to the throne room in the middle of the ruins, the master is requesting you." Langlas turned to his crew, "Where the leader is then also the portal would be there too right?" Bryult nodded at the statement. "Well in that case it's best if we head for there then." Leaving the room they started to stalk the halls closing in on where they needed to go.

Back in the throne room 30 heavily armed orcs dressed in blood red armor kneeled before the throne where their master sat. "Men were about to have guests soon, hide in the shadows and don't reveal yourselves until I give the signal. Also their in a human among these intruders, don't touch him, he is mine! Got it?" All 30 orcs grunted and saluted as they parted into the shadows. "Hopefully we'll get this done quickly so we don't disturb the boss downstairs. Knowing my luck though he's already awake and waiting for me to screw up before showing himself... bugger." He just sat there murmuring at himself waiting patiently for the doors to open.

"Where are all the guards? Shouldn't they be looking for us?" Langlas couldn't help but comment his concerns to his friends. They had been walking for ten minutes with no sight of guards anywhere. They found themselves in front of two massive doors within a few minutes, each of them preparing themselves for battle. "The elite guard are in there as well as their master as well. Remember take no prisoners." With that Langlas opened one of the doors; in front of him was a rather large room with a throne lying across the way and a hooded man sitting in it. "Welcome intruders... come in come in I don't bite." Langlas and his team slowly approached the centre of the room before stopping. "My my Langlas look how you've grown it's been like what a year since I last saw you?" Langlas spoke, "Why do you hide your face behind a hood, show yourself. I demand it." The man chuckled at him, "All in good time Langlas, so how have you been enjoying yourself?" "Oh yes I've had so much fun being trapped in a world I didn't wish to come to. I frolicked through fields and did dance numbers while looking for a way out." The man couldn't help but laugh at this, "No need for sarcasm old friend I was just wondering", he stood up and put down his hood. "We rangers need to know what others are doing don't we?" Langlas face contorted between surprised and anger, "Amdir, how the hell are you still alive?" "Langlas, the great king has such powerful magic it's easy for him to resurrect someone like myself. Beside I'm not the only one here." with that he whistled while 30 guards appeared from the shadows. "IT'S A TRAP!" (Ackbar voice everytime) The group was surrounded by the orcs but Amdir spoke up, "Remember boys Langlas is mine deal with the rest as you see fit." "Kill all the orcs guys then we'll get out of here." Langlas ran past the orcs charging at Amdir with his sword in hand. He swung it but was easily dodge as Amdir flipped out of the way drawing his own sword. "Come now Langlas I gave you a free hit and you missed. Surely your skills have faltered over this year." "My skills haven't faltered, they're fine... and don't call me surely."

30 heavy guards swung their axes, halberds, swords and spear but they couldn't hit their mark as Dourin, Poochy, Crebain and Bryult kept dodging blows. Anger was consuming both Dourin and Poochy as the attacks continued, barely giving them a chance to attack themselves. Crebain flew out of range and let down a barrage of Shadow balls clearing the area around them. Taking the opportunity, Bryult let out a Psywave breaking spears and knocking some of the orcs off their feet. Poochy's anger got the better of him and unleashed a dark pulse spreading throughout the room even managing to nearly hit Langlas and Amdir. "Geez Langlas that little guy has quite the temper." "Less talking more fighting," as Langlas sprang at Amdir. Dourin conjured up a Fire spin, slightly burning a few orcs and engulfing one in flames. Unbeknownst to either Poochy or Dourin, they were glowing slightly as they continued to defend themselves. Dourin spoke up (in poke language just to note) "UNLEASH HELL!" Upon saying that, Bryult unleashed a wide-spread Psychic, Crebain unleashed an aerial Dark pulse, Poochy released a concentrated blast of Dark pulse and Dourin, building up a lot of heat in his body, released a Blast burn. All the orcs watched in horror as the attacks barred down on them. The cries of orcs were heard clearly throughout the entire complex and the surrounding area. As the smoke cleared many of the bodies were torn the shreds, arms and legs plastered the walls, brain and muscle tissue strewn across the floor and several heads lay about the room.

Amdir and Langlas looked at the aftermath before Amdir spoke, "Holy shit Langlas, your partners are tough. I should have brought more guards." Langlas turned back to Amdir, "You won't get away, and you'll die... again." "Not gonna happen Langlas, don't you sense it. Something more evil then myself has come against my orders as usual." Langlas looked around until he noticed that the door leading outside was now covered in a wall of darkness. Langlas called out, "Guys to me, something powerful is coming!" While Langlas distracted himself Amdir slipped towards the portal, and just before entering, "I leave the rest to you 'ancient evil'. I for one will be leaving now bye for now Langlas." Before Langlas could react, he was gone.

The shadow at the door budged and shifted as it spiraled outside the doors. Langlas and his team looked at the shadow, "We should get out of here. That doesn't look friendly at all." As they approached the portal, the ruins started to rumble, the darkness budging in to the room. "Shield your eyes!" As they covered them, the budge exploded showering the room in blood. It sprayed across the floor, making the carpets bright red, while the walls and ceiling were covered in a spray of red. The only part of the wall that wasn't affect was behind Langlas, instead getting it all over his clothes instead. "Well at least the orcs have been taken care of." The darkness floated to the centre of the room and began to shape itself into a form. For the most part it was black like the darkness, but also had what looked to be a red scarf. Its hair was a mix of silver and white, and its eyes were as blue the sea. The Portal wavered in the presence of the creature flashing in and out of existence. Langlas looked at the portal then back at the creature, "... Well crap this probably won't end well."
