Chapter 5: Kidnap

21:50
"Stacey? Stacey?" Tom called out through the room, to no avail. There was no response at all. "Come on Stacey, this isn't funny anymore!" His breathing started to speed up, he started losing control of his thoughts. He admitted it, he was panicking. 'Shit, where is she? She said she was coming straight here! That couldn't mean... No! Someone's taken Stacey!' He said, punching the wall in his rage. The phone immediately started ringing at this moment. Sprinting over towards it, he picked up the reciever.

"Tom? Is that you?" Zoe asked in her usual care-free manner.

"Yes. Yes it is..." Tom said, barely containing his anger.

"What's wrong? You sound really tense all of a sudden. You should calm down a bit."

"Somebody... took... Stacey." Tom said, clenching his hand into a fist. "And when I find who did it, they'll pay."

"Tom, violence isn't going to get you anywhere. Whatever happened to you saying 'Logic before Action'?"

"Gah, it's no use. I can't think straight."

"Anyway, there's something really important I need to tell you. There's suspicion that a murderer is amongst the people at the hotel, and-"

"Yeah, I found about that already."

"Oh? Sorry to waste your time then."

"Zoe, wait a minute. I need you to look up Chris Hargreaves for me."

"Huh? Why would you be looking into him?"

"I spoke to the jeweller trying to find The Sapphire Star. Turns out he think Chris has that diamond. If I find Chris, I find the damn thing."

"Alright. Bye Tom." Zoe said, hanging up. Tom slumped himself down on the chair, holding his head in his hands. He had no idea who did it, or where to start. He was completely lost. Standing up and dragging himself outside, he immediately saw Alex walking from the roof top. Sprinting over towards him, Alex looked rather surprised at his expression.

"Alex, we have a problem. A MAJOR problem." Tom quickly explained.

"What's wrong? Is the pipework playing up again?"

"Worse. Somebody's taken Stacey hostage."

"Stacey? Err... Oh, your Ninetales. Crap, that is a pretty serious problem. I've got an idea. I'll need to talk to Edwin about it first though, so hang tight a minute." Alex responded, dropping his toolbox and dashing down the staircase. The door to 216 opened, as Mary slowly walked out, staring at Tom.

"So, you've lost your little pet then, huh? Shame, I was actually getting along with her. If only some people could be a bit more polite to others..." She commented, patronizing Tom. He quickly turned to face her. "I sincerely hope you're not suspecting me again."

"Why not? You've got the motive. You're pretty much next door. It was the easiest for you to do it." Tom said.

"Oh really? What if I told you I had an alibi? Particularly one spent talking to the hotel manager?" She said confidently, walking back inside her room.

'Hell, I should keep a check list of suspects if I'm going to find Stacey'. Tom thought, pulling out a notepad. He wrote down Mary's name, and added a question mark next to her name. Walking into the lobby, he noticed the guest register left unattended. Scribbling down the other guest's names, he started walking away. 'Hold up a second. Wasn't there somebody who signed in as me? I should check the records.' Examining the list once more, he flicked through the pages for several minutes of the thick folder until he reached 6 months ago. "Abert... Akley... Blakely." He said, picking up the folder.

Name: Tom Blakely
Age: 27
DoB: 8th December
Room: 215

'Wait a second! The guy was in the exact same room?' Tom thought to himself. 'Maybe there's some evidence still there of who he was...' At this point, the staff only door opened. Evona walked out, her expression as pale as always. "Oh, it's just you. You don't happen to have seen a Ninetales very recently, have you?"

She shook her head, sitting down at the table. As Tom turned to leave the lobby, a man on the other side of the lobby made a gesture to him. Walking towards him, Tom listened to what the man had to say.

"I don't know about you... but that girl seems familiar." He murmered.

"Come again?" Tom asked.

"We haven't met. I'm Harry, a doctor at Fairview's hospital. I seem to remember her from there. All I can remember right now is that she has amnesia. The poor thing can't even speak anymore." Harry explained.

"Can you remember anything else?"

"Well, she didn't seem to have any relatives. Only one man ever visited her."

"What kind of person was it?"

"He was a dark haired guy. Looked pretty important; Had a suit, rough stubble, he didn't seem like someone I'd want to piss off. He appeared once, said something, and left. As for her Amnesia, maybe something could remind her of her past. Photos, anything works in my experience."

"Can you try and find who that guy's name was?"

"Sure, I'll do my best."

"Thanks doc." Tom said, walking back to his room. 'Well, I'm a step closer to finding out who that girl is. Something that would make her remember should work. But, hell, where could Stacey be? I've got to start somewhere...' Entering the door to his room, he began to search the area. Tom searched High and Low, and in every conspicable passage for something to be hidden. He found nothing other then a few receipts, an empty pack of sweets and a lot of dust. Tom pulled his bed out of the way, noticing a stack of boxes underneath. There was a old key on top of them, with a tag attached to it. All it said was 'Red box'. 'The hell's that mean... wait a second... what if?' Tom pondered, pulling out the small red box from before out of his pocket. 'Well, it LOOKS the right size...' Carefully inserting the dusty key into the box, he gently turned it, hearing a click. 'Well, what do you know? It opened!' Opening the rest of the box, he found a letter inside. Tom felt a cold, metal object press against his back. Losing his expression, he tried to move his eyes to see who it was.

"I'm sorry Tom. But I'm not letting you read that letter any time soon. Move and I shoot."
