Chapter 1 - A Far-Too-Friendly Welcome
Wolf leaned on the guard rail of the Royal Unova as it made its way through the ocean towards Unova, the moon shining high overhead. He hadn't been able to get to sleep that night, his thoughts heavy on Arceus' task. The goddess had asked him to train himself, and his pokemon, to the best of his ability in order to fight a nigh invulnerable daemon and prevent the destruction of all that is. It made Wolf tired just thinking about it.
"Couldn't sleep?"
Wolf turned as Lucky approached, moving to lean against the rail next to him. He smiled sadly, before he turned back to the ocean. The sound of waves crashing against the side of the cruise ship was soothing, going some way to easing the worry he felt. He glanced back at Lucky, taking in her appearance under the moonlight. Whether it was the clear sea air, the realisation that his time with her may be limited or just the regular love he felt for her he didn't know, but she seemed especially beautiful as the breeze stirred through her fur.
"No." He replied, looking back out over the water again. "It's just this whole business with ancient daemons threatening to destroy the world... it's not something to just dump on someone." Now it was Lucky's turn to take in his appearance. The trainer was wearing his new clothes, a white t-shirt and some new looking jeans with a white pair of sneakers. Over this he wore the Lucario style jacket that Dawn had bought for him for his twenty-first birthday in Sinnoh, something Lucky thought was cute. She moved closer, slipping one arm around his waist to comfort him.
"Don't let it worry you." She whispered, though there was no one else on the viewing deck of the cruise ship. "I don't believe Arceus is callous enough to ask for our help if she didn't genuinely believe we could do anything. I'm sure that we can meet this challenge, with our heads high." He looked down at her, seeing the moonlight reflected in her beautiful red eyes. The sight relaxed him, the trainer allowing the Lucario to take one hand in her paws and turn him to face her.
"You're right Lucky." He offered, leaning in to give her a quick kiss. She smiled at him, leading Wolf back towards their cabin.
"Of course." She said. "Now, come back to bed. We'll be in Unova tomorrow and meeting Professor Juniper in Castelia City. You don't want to be tired and make a bad impression, do you?"

A pair of bright blue eyes watched as a trainer and two pokemon descended the ramp onto the pier. The red haired, white clad lady stared intently at him over her paper, sitting alone at a cafe across from where the Royal Unova was docked. It had been quite some time since she had been here, but her ability to read others was undimmed.
Was it love? She was certain that it was. She knew the trainer liked the strange, grey pokemon with him, along with the Immortal that flew overhead, but the feelings he carried for the Lucario were undeniable. Maybe this was why she had come back to this particular area. Maybe fate had drawn her to them... or maybe something else. For some reason he seemed familiar, though she knew for certain that they had never met.
She would have to investigate. This could be interesting...

"Wolf, welcome to the Unova region!" Professor Juniper called out as the trainer descended the ramp with Lucky and Mewtwo in tow, Zapdos flying overhead in an effort to stretch his wings. Wolf smiled down at Unova's pokemon authority as they approached, noting with a slight surprise the two women that had accompanied her. Both were staring up at the thunder bird, with identical expressions of awe on their faces. Juniper, a young lady with mousey brown hair piled on her head, a plain white shirt and green skirt under her lab coat, rolled her light green eyes at their display.
"Let me introduce Elesa, gym leader of Nimbasa City," she began, indicating a tall thin woman with short blonde hair and yellow and black clothes, watching the legendary pokemon circle overhead with all the poise of a professional model. "And Skyla, gym leader of Mistralton City." She indicated a young woman in contrast to the Nimbasa gym leader, shorter and with red hair and blue flight clothes complete with what looked like a parachute harness to Wolf. She too was watching Zapdos, though her face showed excitement rather than respectful regard. "I'm sure Burgh would have greeted you too, though he's still in Nacrene City trying to pick up his muse again." Wolf shrugged, extending a hand towards the professor and shaking her hand.
"I'd say that Elesa and Skyla didn't need to go to all this trouble, but I don't think it's a Hoenn Elite they're here to see." Wolf said dryly, earning a laugh from Juniper. The gym leaders seemed satisfied with their glimpse of Zapdos, turning their attention to Wolf and his other pokemon. "This is Lucky, my first pokemon, and Mewtwo." He offered, letting the pokemon move forward to greet them.
"It's an honour to meet you, Wolf." Elesa said, staring at him evenly. "However, don't get complacent. You may be an Elite, but the gym leaders of Unova aren't pushovers. We'll certainly be a challenge for you."
"I wouldn't have it any other way." He replied. "I came to Unova to get stronger, so I'm expecting a challenge."
"We won't disappoint!" Skyla chimed in. "I look forward to seeing you in Mistralton for our gym battle!" Wolf grinned, watching as the two gym leaders departed back to their cities. Juniper watched them go, before turning back to Wolf and beckoning him to follow her.
"Well, we might as well get going." She said, turning to lead the way to her car. "I'll show you some of the sights on the way back to Nuv-" she stopped mid sentence as a ringing sound filled the air, the professor fishing out her xtransceiver and holding it up to where she could see it clearly. After a few seconds she put it back in her pocket. "Damn it." She muttered, turning an apologetic look to Wolf. "Looks like we're going to have to skip over that. There's an emergency at the lab, but I wanted you to see as much of Unova as possible..." Wolf held up a hand, letting her fall silent before speaking.
"I don't mind walking." He said, encouraging the professor into her car. "I'll meet up with you at the next town, but don't let it worry you if things don't go smoothly. I'll get to Nuvema Town one way or another without rushing. I'll give you a call at each pokemon centre to let you know where I am." Juniper offered him a grateful smile as she got into the car.
"Thanks Wolf, I really appreciate that." She said. "It doesn't bother me that I won't be showing you the sights as long as you get to see them." Nodding, Wolf waved after her as the car pulled out of sight leaving them outside the pokemon centre. He smiled at Lucky before walking in, the Lucario and Mewtwo both following him while Zapdos swooped down to join the trio. Maybe this won't be so bad, Wolf thought to himself as he approached the counter.
***
It was early in the afternoon when Wolf and Lucky left Castelia City, the pair taking a leisurely stroll along Skyarrow Bridge and admiring the view. From the bridge he could see that they were approaching a lush green forest, while to their left was a vast, dusty desert behind Castelia and even another bridge in the distance stretching over the same wide river that ran straight through Unova. He looked at Lucky, seeing the same eagerness to explore he felt echoed in her face.
"Well, that was certainly the biggest bridge I've ever seen." Wolf said as they approached the end of it, Lucky nodding her agreement as they entered the terminal separating them from the forest. They paused for a second to look at the display, the trainer reading the scrolling text to get his bearings. "Looks like we're headed for Pinwheel Forest." He remarked, keeping his eyes on the text as another message followed. "The forest bridges are out. Looks like we're taking the long route."
"Is it wrong to be happy about that?" Lucky asked as they headed for the forest entrance. "I mean, having a shorter walk is nice but I like spending time with you outdoors... just the two of us." Wolf nodded, understanding her point. It wasn't like they ignored the others, but it was the moments spent in one another's arms in front of the fire that were the most romantic. Wolf laughed as he wrapped one arm around her, the pair walking into the forest.
Neither Wolf nor Lucky noticed the red haired, blue eyed woman in white watching them from the foliage as they turned onto the long forest path.

The campfire crackled invitingly as Wolf and the pokemon ate dinner, the trainer having made himself some soup out of chesto berries while the pokemon ate the special food that Rose had made for them before they had left for Unova. Their first night in a new region, camping out in a forest that reminded him of his home, Wolf had felt like now was as good a time as any to give them something special. He looked over at Lucky, smiling warmly as she beamed back at him with a mouthful of food. Zapdos was picking at his food with little complaint, the legendary pokemon having decided that not needing to find food for himself made it worthwhile. As Wolf's gaze travelled to Mewtwo, he was surprised to see the psychic pokemon staring over his shoulder, a worried expression on her face.
"I can feel a void." She said, worried. Wolf frowned at the word, knowing that it was a derogatory term psychic pokemon often used to describe dark type pokemon.
"I thought I told you not to use that word." He said sternly. The word itself didn't bother him, but Serenity had explained it to him even before he had met Happy, and it was the Umbreon he was thinking of. Mewtwo bowed her head, ashamed that she had let it slip out. Wolf reached over to stroke her, letting her know it was just a reminder, before finally turning his attention behind him. For a few tense seconds all four of them watched the bushes, until finally the pokemon revealed itself.
The first thing they saw of it was its pointed, black furred face, followed swiftly by a magnificent red mane as it pulled itself out of the bushes with a suprising lack of sound. Its lean body followed, though the pokemon was swiftly revealed as female by a wonderfully curved set of breasts and hips. Wolf was stunned momentarily by the pokemon's feminine features before he looked back at her face, which froze him for another reason. Ice blue eyes stared back at him with unnerving intensity, her mouth upturned by a cocky smirk that made Wolf feel as though he were little more than a distraction for the newcomer. Almost like prey...
"My, my, what do we have here?" she asked sweetly, taking a few deliberate steps towards the trainer. "It's been some time since I've seen a human... but you're by far the most interesting I've ever seen." She stalked towards him, stopping only when Lucky abandoned her meal to stand between them. She stared arrogantly down at the Lucario, who glared defiantly back as she protected Wolf.
"Uh... who are you?" Wolf asked, trying his best to keep his voice steady. He didn't know why he felt unnerved by the pokemon, just that he did.
"She's a Zoroark." Zapdos informed him, hopping over to join Wolf with a short flap of his wings. "She would be the dark type Mewtwo was sensing just before." Wolf looked at the thunder bird gratefully, before he noticed that he was staring at her with almost as much intensity.
"How terribly formal of you." She replied, matching his gaze. "My name is Biara, and like your friend over there said I'm a Zoroark." She looked back at Wolf, her tongue running along her lips. "But you can call me all the girl you'll ever need..." The comment sparked a small ember of lust in the trainer's mind, warring fiercely with the caution that dominated the rest of his mind and the love for Lucky he felt in his heart.
"Beat it bitch!" Lucky snarled, taking an angry step towards Biara. "Wolf already has a girlfriend!" Biara stared down at her, unimpressed.
"You mean you, prude?" she sniped back, turning around only to balance herself on all fours, her rear legs spread apart to give all of them a clear view of her pussy, the fur around it already damp even as she reached down to spread herself open in front of them. "I doubt you have anything I can't beat. Besides, I can show you all sorts of indescribable pleasures, Wolf... all you have to do is come to me... take me..." Wolf took an involuntary step forward, his penis already straining at his jeans just from her display. His movement caused him to bump into Lucky, the sudden feeling of his lover's fur against his bare hand shaking him to his senses. Lucky turned to look at him, aghast that he would still do it even after her outburst, only to see him shaking his head to clear it.
"I appreciate the offer, but I'm going to have to refuse." Wolf said, not noticing the sudden flicker of hostility in Biara's icy eyes at his refusal. "As nice as you are, I love Lucky." He draped his arms around the Lucario, who poked her tongue out at the Zoroark to blow a raspberry. She snarled at the Lucario, drawing herself up indignantly.
"You don't seem to understand that you have no choice in the matter." Biara snarled, taking a step towards Wolf and Lucky. One step was all she managed before a thunderbolt struck the ground in front of her, arresting her approach.
"That was the only warning shot you're getting." Zapdos said, keeping his voice steady. "I suggest you leave now." The Zoroark stared angrily at him, and for the first time the insistent ember of lust was doused in Wolf's mind. Now she seemed scary more than anything else. Huffing, she stalked off into the undergrowth, making no secret of her departure as she had with her arrival. Her eyes were full of hatred, unable to comprehend why he had not fallen under her spell. He was only the second person to ever resist her in her life!
As this realisation hit her, a sly smirk crept onto her face. Maybe this would be more fun than she first thought...
***
Even a whole day later, when the team had arrived in Nacrene City and decided to stay there until the next day, Lucky was still annoyed at Biara's advance on Wolf. Had he not still been slightly unnerved at the whole event Wolf would have still been subdued due to his girlfriend's foul mood. She had kept his hand in her paws for the whole of the day except when he needed them to be free or she needed her own paws, unwilling to let him go. It reminded him of any time Lucky had been in contact with Gardenia, the Eterna gym leader provoking some deep seated jealousy in Lucky's heart.
The Lucario had barely spoken either, her brooding silence causing Wolf to call out Mewtwo so that he could at least have someone to talk to during the walk from Pinwheel Forest to Nacrene City. He didn't like having her out where most people would stare at her, but keeping her preoccupied with conversation seemed to keep her mind off their gawking. Now they were eating dinner, and Lucky seemed no less sullen than any time that day.
"Professor Juniper said that she's probably going to be in Nuvema for some time, so we're probably going to be walking the rest of the way." He remarked, hoping to break the ice with some conversation. Lucky nodded absently, sitting close to him while they ate. Wolf watched her for a few seconds, hoping for anything more, then sighed and returned to his meal. He just wasn't sure of what to do to snap her out of it. The rest of the meal was spent in silence, with neither trainer nor Lucario willing to bring up the subject of Biara and her advance on him. Once Lucky finished her meal, she stood up and moved away from the table, beckoning to Mewtwo.
"Mewtwo, would you come for a walk with me please?" she asked, the psychic pokemon getting up from her seat and joining her. "We'll be back in a little while, Wolf. I... I just need to clear my head." Wolf nodded, understanding of how she would be feeling. He watched them depart, before glancing over at Zapdos, who had also finished his meal.
"I guess it's time for bed then?" he said, collecting their bowls and leading the thunder bird back to their room.
***
"You're back early."
Lucky froze in her tracks, Zapdos' voice startling her. She had been trying to get to Wolf's room without disturbing the thunder bird, who had evidently heard her anyway. He was staring at her from his perch on the lounge, with one leg drawn up as an indication that he had been sleeping. She flashed him an apologetic smile, but didn't move any closer.
"Sorry I woke you." She replied, though Zapdos didn't seem too concerned with that.
"Where's Mewtwo?" he asked, watching her intently. Lucky kept her composure, her gaze steadfastly remaining on his.
"She said something about wanting to ask one of the others something. Princess, I think." Lucky answered. The thunder bird kept staring at her, though Lucky refused to buckle under his gaze. Finally, he shrugged.
"I think Wolf's in the shower." He said, closing his eyes and readjusting himself to go back to sleep. She nodded, before proceeding to the trainer's room and closing the door behind her. Even as she turned to face the bathroom door Wolf walked through it, wearing nothing but his boxers and a damp towel. He started as he saw her standing there, almost losing his grip on the towel.
"Lucky!" he said, his voice showing surprise. "I didn't expect you back so soon." She didn't reply, instead moving over to him and planting one paw on his bare chest, pressing him back onto the bed and straddling him.
"Wolf, there is only one girl you need..." she purred, pinning him to the mattress. She didn't give him any chance to respond, kissing him lustfully. He responded, drawing her into a close embrace and kissing her back.
***
"How'd you get past me so quietly?"
Lucky glanced over at Zapdos, confused at his question. She frowned at him for a second before turning to Mewtwo, seeing only the same questioning look on her face. "Uh..." she began. "What do you mean? We only just got back." Zapdos frowned, before gesturing towards Wolf's room with his beak.
"You walked in a few minutes ago." He insisted, tilting his head quizzically. "You said something about Mewtwo wanting to ask Princess something, so you came back alone. But if you're here, then who's in there with Wolf?" Lucky froze, turning to Mewtwo for answers only to see the psychic pokemon's face drawn and pale as she stared at the door.
"It's a dark type." She whispered.
***
Lucky pressed Wolf to the bed, her lips still caressing his own even as she pawed frantically at his boxers in an effort to get the trainer completely naked. Wolf followed her lead, though anytime he tried to just rest his arms around her back she would reach up and push his hands onto her rear. He was surprised by her behaviour, though he had no time to question it as she kept his mouth busy with her own lips and neck. She pawed between his legs, trying to work his erection out so she could get down to business. Just as she grasped her prize, a loud banging on the door of the room snapped them both out of their lust fuelled groping.
"Wolf! Wolf! Are you in there?" Lucky's voice came from behind the door, worry etched in her voice. Wolf frowned at the shout, recognising his lover's voice. But how could it be? Lucky couldn't be both outside and in there with him! He turned back to his partner, eyes widening and jaw dropping as he saw a black furred face and ice blue eyes grinning evilly down at him.
"Biara?!" he yelped, the banging on the door intensifying even as the Zoroark pinned him to the bed. He struggled against her hold, though she grabbed his arms tightly and held them to his sides.
"Don't worry, Wolf..." she cooed softly, the words mocking. "I'll take good care of you, and you can repay my care with your body." Wolf could just hear Mewtwo's voice describing to the others what was going on, punctuated by a loud yelp from Lucky.
"Who cares?!" Lucky's voice yelled again, scant moments before the door was flung off its hinges, flying into the window with a loud cracking noise accompanied by shattering glass. Biara flung one arm in front of her face for caution, before snatching Wolf up in the other and barrelling out of the space formerly occupied by the window. "Oh no you don't!" the Lucario cried out, shooting after her in hot pursuit.
Biara ran full pelt for Pinwheel Forest, using her other arm to propel herself and the captive trainer at greater speed and outdistance the pursuing Lucario. Wolf wasn't making it easy for her though, his constant squirming keeping her from reaching full speed. She snarled, gripping him tighter and trying to force the air out of his lungs to weaken him. They made it deep into the forest, the Zoroark running alongside the edge of a lake before a thunderbolt struck the ground in front of them. Biara leapt back in shock, keeping her grip on Wolf even as Zapdos and Mewtwo emerged from in front of them.
"You can't get away from us!" Zapdos snarled, landing a short distance away and spreading his wings to block off her escape route. Crunching leaves alerted all of them to the arrival of Lucky while Mewtwo teleported opposite the lake to completely fence the Zoroark and the trainer in. Biara growled defiantly back, her alluring state gone in favour of anger and scorn.
"Do you think I really need to?" she snapped back, looking at each pokemon in turn. "You have no idea how powerful I am! And besides..." she added, her smirk returning as she held Wolf to her front, one claw caressing his neck softly. "You wouldn't want anything to happen to Wolf, would you?"
"Let him go now!" Lucky roared, taking a threatening step towards the Zoroark and her captive. Wolf winced as one of her claws pressed into his skin, seeing an ugly look on Biara's face.
"You're in no position to make demands." She said angrily, unwilling to relinquish her control of the situation. Distracted, angry, Wolf saw that now was the time to play his trump card. Biara swung her head wildly, glaring at each of the pokemon in turn, her rage only dimming slightly as she felt her grip on Wolf unwillingly slacken. She stared down, ready to grab the trainer again only to see Wolf scrabbling away in his Lucario form. Biara lunged at him, shrieking in rage followed by pain as Wolf let loose with a dark pulse burst, the Zoroark staggering back while Wolf ran over to join Mewtwo, Lucky and Zapdos not far behind.
"Looks like you've lost." Wolf gasped, trying to catch his breath. Biara let out a wordless cry of anger, seeming as little more than anger personified to the trainer and his pokemon. Behind her, unnoticed by all, the calm surface of the lake began to swirl.
"Like hell I have!" Biara snarled, taking a step towards them. "I swear I'll string your guts all around this forest for the buzzards! I'll..." she trailed off, watching the group's gaze shift behind her, faces that showed defiance now sporting looks of fear and awe. She felt the atmosphere begin to thicken, turning slowly even as a massive shadow loomed over her. Her eyes widened in terror as she saw the creature that was causing it stride out of a portal on the lake surface, stumbling back from the sinister form of Giratina.
"You have never been one to make things easy, Biara." The shadow dragon said, his ethereal pinions arching over his back menacingly. "I am here to return you to the distortion world."
"NO!" the Zoroark shrieked, lunging at Giratina in a desperate frenzy. "I will not go back there!" Fast as she was, she couldn't match his speed. One of the shadowy wings struck out, the mass of shadow engulfing her body and holding her in an iron grip. He inspected her for a moment, watching her struggle uselessly. Summoning the last of her courage, she stared him straight in the eye. "Traitor!"
"Return to your prison." Giratina replied, casting the Zoroark into the portal and closing it behind her with little more than an afterthought. Finished with his business, Giratina let his gaze rest on Wolf and his pokemon again, the group flinching under his stern eyes. Only Zapdos was unaffected, though he still remained wary. "Wolf, I apologize for this. The daemonic power is waxing strong, and it affects all with ties to it."
"Meaning you." Wolf started tentatively. "Arakhara created you, right?"
"Close." The shadow dragon said. "Before the Daemon Lord was sealed away by Arceus, he left a fraction of his will in creation. It took the form of the first entities created, which is why I stand alongside Dialga and Palkia as a temporal dragon. I assume you noticed that Biara referred to me as traitor?" Wolf nodded, too focussed on Giratina to glance at his pokemon. "It is because she is responsible for bringing me into this realm. While corrupted by the daemonic, I whispered to Biara, offering her all manner of power in return for servitude. Biara became the first mortal to become daemonic, eight thousand years ago to fight in the Great War."
"That's the one I told you about when we sent Shayne and Ahnaeir to the distortion world." Lucky added, seeing the trainer nod slowly. "But that means Biara is over eight thousand years old!"
"Correct." Giratina said. "Time does not pass in the distortion world, thus those imprisoned in it will not age. Those imprisoned within will remain there, even after time itself ends." Giratina nodded once, letting the team dwell on his words. He turned and walked back into the lake, opening a new portal back to the distortion world and leaving the mortal plane once more.
Silence hung over the clearing even after the shadow dragon departed, until Wolf moved back to the others, shepherding them all back to the pokemon centre. All were lost in thought about what Giratina had told them, and none more so than Wolf himself. He had a feeling that this mess ran deeper than what Arceus had told him.
"Couldn't sleep?"
Wolf turned as Lucky approached, moving to lean against the rail next to him. He smiled sadly, before he turned back to the ocean.
