The three main protagonists are:Danny (18) knows nothing about Pokémon, will train anything. Black hair and blue eyes.Jack (18 and three months) very smart and has great battle skills and knows what types to use but is scared of ghost types. Brown hair and blue eyes.Luke (18 and nine months) also smart and very self confident only wants the strongest Pokémon and will do anything to get them. Black hair and green eyes.Also I am English so I may use some English slang and cuss words. Chapter 2i: Danny
Mini recap: Danny received Bulbasaur from Professor Oak and... Well... that's it really.
"Well your Bulbasaur is 100% healthy so I am happy to let you start your journey" Nurse Joy smiled as she said this "but be careful out there, there are lots of dangerous people in this world so be sure to visit my relatives in every town, I will be checking" she added.
"I know mother" replied Danny, he has only ever called his mom 'mother' when she is annoying him, "we will be alright you know."
"I know, I know but with your father working Unova region you're all I have left" she kissed Danny's cheek as she said this knowing that he hated it. "Well go on, get going, I have patients to take care of" Danny looked behind him, a line of six people were beginning to get disgruntled.
"Come on Bulbasaur Let's go get 'em" Danny shouted as he ran outside the Pokémon Centre with Bulbasaur running alongside, Bulbasaur was just relieved to not be in the examination room anymore as he was getting sick of being poked and prodded with different medical instruments, he knew why she did it though, he had spent the night getting to know Danny and his mom and could sense that she was incredibly worried about him.
"I wonder where I should go first" Danny said this aloud as if expecting to get an answer. Suddenly he jumped as he heard a ringing noise in his pocket "whoa." He thought "I wonder who is calling me already." He opened his Pokégear and was quite annoyed at who it was "Mom" he sighed "what do you want now?"
"I was just checking up on you honey I am so worried" she replied, her voice was cracking up as she was holding back her tears.
"But I can still see you through the window, I am literally twenty meters away from you" Danny was getting annoyed but he knew that she was going to miss him; he was also going to miss her.
"Just don't forget to heal your Pokémon as much as possible and don't forget to go to the Pokémart as well and don't forget about the map on your Pokégear and don't forget to call me every day."
"Don't worry mother, yeah I love you too, bye." Danny hung up "she is always like that" he said to Bulbasaur as he knelt down to pet him, Bulbasaur cooed as he did this "now then off to the shopping centre." As Danny and Bulbasaur walked down the road to the Pokémart Bulbasaur was taking in the sights of a modern City.
Growing up in Pallet town Bulbasaur was used to trees and grass everywhere not roads with cars going in different directions, even though Bulbasaur had seen vehicles before sheer size and noise was scaring him a little.
After walking around for a few minutes Danny and Bulbasaur passed a few big stores selling grooming products for Pokémon and humans, they also passed an odd clothes store for Pokémon which Bulbasaur cringed at noticing another Bulbasaur being forced to wear a princess costume.
After a while Danny came across a slightly ageing blue roofed building and entered the door ringing the bell. He was greeted by a bored looking guy reading a newspaper.
"Welcome sir how may I help you toda- ah I see, another new trainer" the clerk had noticed Danny's fairly young Bulbasaur.
"Huh... what do you mean?" Danny asked puzzled.
"Well about an hour ago a guy with a blue jacket and a Squirtle was here and yesterday a guy in a red jacket was here with a Charmander" the clerk answered.
"Oh..." Danny looked dejected realizing already that he was falling behind Jack and Luke. "Erm... is there anything that you would recommend for a novice trainer"
"As a matter of fact I have the perfect package for newbie trainers" the clerk paused as he picked a parcel from the middle shelf behind the counter. "There, that should be all you will need for now"
"What is in it?" Danny asked.
"Just your basic ten Potions, five antidotes, five paralysis heals, five burn heals, ten tins of Pokémon food and a camping set all for $3000" the clerk said in a bored tone as if he had said this thousands of times.
"$3000! How am I going to pay for that" Danny yelled causing the clerk to jump back.
"Erm didn't you get your grant money from the Government yet?" the clerk asked a little bit nervously. Danny remembered what Professor Oak had said to him yesterday.
"Oh... right err yeah but erm... How do I, err... how do I get the money?" Danny asked wondering if there was a cash machine (ATM) around. The clerk was laughing.
"Pass me your Pokédex, God you really are a rookie" He said while attaching a small cable from the till to the Pokédex. "There you go, have a safe journey sir." As Danny left he could hear the clerk still laughing at his earlier question.
After a few minutes of aimless walking Danny checked his Pokégear and clicked the Map app (I know it rhymes) and checked where he should be going.
"Okay" he said "we should be going that way" he was pointing north towards Viridian Forest "Pewter city is just through that forest and we can get our first badge Bulbasaur."
"Saur, Bulbasaur" the grass Pokémon cheerfully said. He was just happy to be outside in the sun going off on an adventure. As they entered the forest the sounds of forest Pokémon rang through the late morning air.
After a while Danny started getting tired from his nonstop trek through the winding maze that was Viridian Forest, Danny and Bulbasaur came upon a fork in the road.
"Let's rest for a bit Bulbasaur" Danny panted as he sat on a tree stump, Bulbasaur didn't need to stop as he was getting all of his energy from the sun but obeyed. "Are you hungry?" Danny asked. Bulbasaur shook his head and pointed a vine towards the sun.
"Oh yeah, I forgot Grass type Pokémon photosynthesize for food, well I'm hungry" Dan started to reach into his bag for the packed lunch his mom made for him but stopped when his Pokégear rang.
"I swear to god if this is mom again I am going to flip." Thought Danny but as he opened it up he was surprised as it was Luke who had phoned him. "What's up Luke" Danny said "where are you?"
"I am just outside Mt. Moon" Luke replied "with my buddy, go on say hello" the phone went quiet for a few seconds but Danny could make out a grumbling noise saying 'meleon'.
"No way a Charmeleon and you're already at Mt. Moon; does this mean you already have a badge?" Danny asked.
"Of course it does Danny-boy" Luke teased "it was a tough battle I thought I was going to lose until Charmander evolved, he saved the battle for me with dragon rage."
The conversation went on for another couple of minutes with Danny listening intently "aww man, I'm so jealous, I'm still in Viridian forest" Danny whined.
"Whoa your waaay behind, anyway when you reach the fork in the forest take the left way its the only way out of the forest, if you go right it's a dead end. I've got to go now mate I am at the entrance of the cave, later."
"Wow we have a lot of catching up to do Bulbasaur" Danny stood up ready to continue" but sat right back down when his stomach started rumbling "but first I think I will eat."
Danny chuckled as he grabbed a packet of plain crisps from his bag and started eating, while he was eating he decided to play his radio app on his Pokégear where he decided to listen to Professor Oak's show, as he was listening to Oak talk about various Pokémon locations, attacks and descriptions something landed behind him and was surveying him, Bulbasaur heard some rustling behind him but was distracted by an announcement on the radio.
"We interrupt the following broadcast for some breaking news!" the announcer said "Viridian city gym has found a new benefactor and will be re-opened as soon as it has been refurbished, it is currently unknown who the financier is or who will be taking over the currently vacant Gym leader's position, we will have more on this story as we get any information. We will now return you to your programme."
"Wow" Danny thought "that gym has been abandoned for ages, I wonder who the benefactor is" Danny wondered as he switched off the radio in the middle of an advert and resumed eating, as soon as he got halfway through the bag something grabbed them off of him and climbed a nearby tree.
"Hey what are you doing" he looked up a tree to see a Mankey laughing at him. "Bulbasaur use vine whip the get the crisps" Bulbasaur quickly sent its vines to wrestle the crisps from Mankey's hands and then threw them to Danny who had pulled out his Pokédex to scan the Mankey.
"Looks like you're going to be my first capture you thieving bastard, Bulbasaur Razor Leaf."
Bulbasaur shot out a barrage of sharp leaves at the Mankey and hit its weak spot. "YES! what a hit Bulbasaur, wait a minute, uh-oh" Danny remembered Mankey's Pokédex entry, one of its abilities was anger point and sure enough Mankey was shaking in fury, it's eyes had gone red and a big vein was pulsing in its temple.
"Bulbasaur be careful Mankey is a full power" Bulbasaur nodded at its trainers words, the wild Mankey lunged with a karate chop and struck Bulbasaur right on its bulb, Bulbasaur yelped in pain as he was sent flying backwards.
"Holy shit" Danny yelled "Dodge Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur Narrowly dodged the incoming scratch attack, Mankey kept up the assault of scratches while Bulbasaur was frantically dodging them nearly getting hit by a few of them.
"I need an opening" Danny thought "Bulbasaur can't keep dodging." The Mankey jumped backwards and started beating it's chest frantically using focus energy.
"This is my chance" Danny said to himself then yelled "Bulbasaur use leech seed." Bulbasaur produced a single brown seed from the hole in its bulb and fired it straight at Mankey.
Mankey tried to punch it away but the seed was sticky (not sexual) and started producing shoots that quickly bound the Mankey up sucking it's energy. (Still not sexual)
"Alright go pokéball" Danny shouted as he threw the spherical capture device at the helpless Mankey which sucked the Mankey with the seed (Seriously I can't help it this part has a lot of innuendo) inside with a harsh red light.
As the ball floated to the ground it shook once, then it shook again while Bulbasaur and Danny looked on nervously, it then shook one final time before emitting a low pitch pinging sound and sparkled with bluish crystals.
"Yes! I just caught a Mankey" Danny shouted in success. He picked up the Pokéball and scanned it. "Okay, it is weakened after that battle but otherwise alright."
Being the son of a nurse Joy he could tell that a simple potion wouldn't do much, so it just needed to spend a little time in a healing machine.
"Are you still Okay to go Buddy?" Danny asked Bulbasaur, his Nurse Joy instincts told him that Bulbasaur could keep going but he still wanted confirmation.
"Saur" Bulbasaur nodded, quite proud to have helped Danny capture his first Pokémon.
"Well just to be safe..." Danny pulled out a potion and sprayed it on the red mark on Bulbasaur's bulb, "there, good as new" Danny exclaimed while the red mark quickly disappeared, he then picked up his crisps and started finishing them offering one to Bulbasaur, who sniffed it.
Seeing as there was nothing wrong with it quickly started to eat it, Bulbasaur enjoyed the crunchy sound the crisp made as he chewed it noting an odd salty taste. (Did I do it again?) "Well... umm... oh yeah, that's right, Luke said to go left, come on Bulbasaur."
Within an hour Danny and Bulbasaur had reached the end of Viridian Forest and could see that Pewter city was just past ahead.
"Whew, we made it, I wonder where the Pokémon Centre is?" Danny was aimlessly walking through the city looking all around when he noticed an odd man trying to get peoples' attention "maybe he knows" thought Danny as he made his way over to him.
"Excuse me sir, do you know where the Pokémon centre is?" He asked.
"Pokémon Centre, pah, you want to go to the museum mate, we have got some new fossils of Pokémon, come on, I'll show you." Despite Danny's protests the odd man dragged Danny, with Bulbasaur following, to the museum entrance and forced him in.
The museum was pretty but old fashioned, several people were marveling at the various fossils on display with their Pokémon looking equally amazed.
"Well better make the most of it hey, Bulb-" Danny stopped as he crashed into a tall cloaked man. "Ow, sorry, I didn't mean to do that."
"Kid you better watch where you're going. Hey is that a Bulbasaur? I love poison types" the mysterious cloaked man replied noticing the Bulbasaur helping Danny up with its vines
"yeah this is my partner Bulbasaur were gonna compete in the..." before Danny could continue he noticed that the mysterious man's cloak had opened at the front a little revealing a big, shiny gold and silver 'N' on his dull silver jacket.
"Oh my god you're with Team Rocket!" Danny shouted pointing at him mistaking the 'N' as a Team Rocket 'R'. As Danny uttered the word 'Team Rocket' people in the museum started panicking and trying to call for an Officer Jenny.
"Fuck!" the mystery man shouted reaching for a walkie talkie, "my cover's blown, abort the operation." Three other cloaked people quickly headed towards the exit grabbing people's Pokémon as they ran. The guy that Danny bumped into grabbed Bulbasaur off of the ground and ran outside.
Danny gave chase, adrenalin taking control of his body and without thinking, he lunged at the thief's legs, tackling him to the ground. The crook fell flat on the floor as Bulbasaur was released from his grasp and rejoined its trainer.
"That's it! You have really made me angry now; I will punish you severely for that!" He yelled pulling a pokéball from his belt and throwing it, a Koffing jumped out floating side to side.
"I will be taking that Bulbasaur when I win this, Koffing use Gyro ball" Koffing started spinning towards Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur was hit head on, Danny now had no choice but to battle.
"Bulbasaur tackle now!" Danny shouted as Bulbasaur tackled Koffing sending it back to its trainer however it didn't seem to do much damage.
"Ha, tackle; you must be a rookie, that Bulbasaur is probably worthless." The crook taunted, this however only seemed to anger Bulbasaur, which without the command of his trainer, shot a barrage of Razor Leaves at Koffing who dodged easily "it doesn't even obey you. Koffing, use sludge!"
"Bulbasaur Dodge it quick!" Danny yelled hoping that Bulbasaur would listen. Bulbasaur did and rolled sideways evading the oncoming toxic slime, this was the only time though as Koffing started scoring back to back hits on Bulbasaur. Danny was frantically trying to get Bulbasaur to dodge correctly but his timing was off by a mile.
"Come on kid be more of a sport." the thief yelled yawning. "Go on, I will let you have a free hit." Bulbasaur was nearing its limit as Danny started to get worried.
"I can't let him take Bulbasaur but what can I do?" Danny asked himself getting dejected, knowing he had only one choice. "Bulbasaur! Use tackle full power!" Danny ordered.
"Tackle how boring" The thief sneered but the smile was soon wiped off of his face as Bulbasaur became enveloped in a bright white light and smacked Koffing head-on "Damn it that was double-edge!" he yelled scared for the first time in the battle as Koffing was helpless, spinning upwards in the air.
"Grab Koffing with vine whip" Danny yelled sensing a good opportunity. Bulbasaur started glowing green as its vine, also glowing green, wrapped around Koffing. "Now throw it to the ground!" Bulbasaur slammed Koffing into the ground hurting it.
"Do it again Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur got Koffing with another double-edge, vine whip combo. As Koffing wobbled up, Danny ordered a final Razor Leaf attack. The Leaves shone Green as they struck Koffing.
"One more vine whip Bulbasaur!" Danny shouted not giving his opponent any time to react.
With one more slam to the ground Koffing finally fainted, the thief cursed as he returned his Koffing and tried to run off hearing approaching sirens, Danny however had other ideas and ordered Bulbasaur to lasso the thief, stopping him from escaping.
The next hour was a blur for Danny as the police wanted his statement, then he had to identify the thief in a line up and he was then escorted to the Pokémon centre where he suddenly started crying, the Nurse Joy recognized Danny as her nephew and went over to comfort him.
"What's wrong Danny?" She asked?
"I nearly lost Bulbasaur." He cried.
"But you won the battle and Bulbasaur is fine" she said comforting him.
"But what about those other people's Pokémon, what will happen to them" Nurse Joy frowned at the thought of this then beckoned something from the corner of the centre.
"I am sure the police can retrieve them, the important thing is that you and your Pokémon perfectly fine, you just need to sleep like them" she then whispered something to a Pokémon that Danny couldn't see and walked away.
Danny didn't want to sleep but could hear a soothing lullaby. The lullaby was troubling him urging him to sleep.
As he drifted off he could just make out a small round pink Pokémon with large blue eyes. He eventually lay down on a nearby sofa and entered a restful sleep.
Chapter 2ii: Jack
Mini recap: Jack received Squirtle from Oak and immediately challenged Luke to a battle in which he was victorious.
"Squirtle use Bubble now!" Jack yelled as the Pidgey was trying to blow them away with gust, the bubbles however connected with their target knocking the Pidgey down, but not out.
"Go Pokéball" He shouted curling the ball at the now stricken Pidgey, it connected absorbing the Pidgey within it, this was the third time he had thrown the Pokéball at the tiny pigeon Pokémon but it just kept breaking out, the ball shook once, then again. Wait!! I bet you are wondering how this all started right? Well let us just back up about twenty minutes earlier.
Jack had gone right instead of left at the fork in the road and had become hopelessly lost, he had stumbled across a quiet stream running through the middle of the forest, it was a picturesque scene with a fallen log forming a natural bridge, probably made by the wild Pokémon in the area.
Jack sighed wondering how the hell he was going to get out of the forest as he desperately wanted to try out the gym in Pewter city, earlier he had had a phone call from his good friend Luke smugly gloating about his first gym victory. Jack, in his desperation to catch up forgot his friend's advice about going left at the fork in the road.
He tried turning back but the forest looked identical wherever he was facing, he eventually swallowed his pride and let Squirtle, who had been begging him to let her help, lead him out but she just got them to this forest clearing as she was just following the scent of some Sitrus berries, which as it turns out are her favorite, as Squirtle was eating her fourth berry an angry Pidgey started squawking at her.
"Umm... Squirtle" Jack said "I think those berries are that Pidgey's." Squirtle however did not care and casually swatted the Pidgey away, not hard enough to hurt it but hard enough to send it back a few feet and out of her face.
"Hmm..." Jack thought rubbing his chin "that Pidgey could help me out of this forest and even if it is weak I could just release it." He chucked a Pokéball expecting to get it straight away but was surprised when the Pidgey burst out immediately.
"Guess this little one has a bit more fight in it than I anticipated." Jack commented "Squirtle! Tackle it now!" Squirtle charged at the Pidgey noticeably faster than it was when it battled Luke's Charmander yesterday and scored a direct hit.
The Pidgey was hurtling backwards but regained its composure with an airborne back flip that quickly turned into a quick attack, the Pidgey was charging for Squirtle's head.
Jack quickly ordered a withdraw narrowly evading the Pidgey's attack, the Pidgey however was about to crash into a tree but used gust to create a pocket of wind resistance which killed it's momentum.
Jack used this opportunity to call for an aqua jet slamming the Pidgey into the tree, Jack once again threw the Pokéball at the stunned Pidgey for a second time but once again Pidgey broke free.
"Why you little bastard" Jack shouted although, he was more than a little impressed with the birds resilience.
"Use bubble Squirtle" Jack commanded but the Pidgey was waiting for this and launched a flurry of air cutters that popped the bubbles and struck Squirtle. Pidgey used this opportunity to start up a powerful gust attack.
"Squirtle use bubble now!" Jack yelled as the Pidgey was trying to blow them away with the gust, the bubbles however connected with their target knocking the Pidgey down, but not out.
"Go Pokéball" He shouted curling the ball at the Pidgey, it connected absorbing the Pidgey within it, the ball shook once, then again, then a third time pinging to signify capture. "Finally I caught you" He yelled whilst dancing with Squirtle.
He immediately let the Pidgey out and scanned it with his Pokédex checking it's moves.
"Okay then, Gust, Air Cutter, Quick attack (where have I heard that before) and Hidden Power, not bad little guy" Jack said impressed as the bird puffed up its feathers heeding the trainer's praise, Jack then asked
"I need your help Pidgey, can you lead me out of this forest?" the Pidgey nodded taking off. Before he followed Jack made sure to grab some leftover Sitrus berries of off the ground before following Pidgey out of the clearing and towards the fork in the road. Jack noticed evidence of a battle that wasn't there on his first visit, after a minutes rest Jack took the left path towards Pewter City.
Jack arrived in Pewter City and headed towards the Pokémon Centre to book a room and get his team healed, while he was waiting in the lobby he glanced towards the T.V, where there were two Hariyamas in a sumo ring desperately trying to push each other out, it was only then that he saw his mate Danny curled up sleeping on a sofa hugging a very content looking Jigglypuff.
Jack ,although a little puzzled, walked up to Danny and gently nudged him causing him to wake up.
"Huh... whuzzzat. Arghhhh" he yelled as he flung the Jigglypuff across the room, Jack was worried that the little Pokémon was going to be hurt but was relieved when it floated to the floor like a balloon, it was laughing as it made it's way towards another sleepy looking trainer.
"Oh, hey Jack what are you doing here?" he said groggily
"I could ask you the same thing" Jack looked at Danny realizing this was the perfect opportunity to test his team for his gym battle. "Say... wanna battle?" Jack asked. Danny thought about this for a second before replying.
"Oh go on then, just let me get my Pokémon from Aunt Joy." Danny had been itching to see if he could beat the son of a champion.
As the guys walked up to the counter they set the battle terms and started describing their new adventures so far.
"Wow, that sounds horrible, hey weren't all crime syndicates wiped out ages ago?" Jack wondered as he asked this.
"Maybe these ones are new" Danny said answering Jacks question "they just don't quit do they?" The guys continued walking up to the caged roof of the Pokécentre (I have just realized that I have been using the term 'Pokémon Centre' up until now) where there was a rooftop battle arena.
Danny and Jack made their way to opposite ends of the battlefield, glared into each other's eyes as if trying to psych each other out, and then threw their Pokéballs at the same time.
"Go Mankey" Danny yelled.
"Go Pidgey" Jack shouted. Both Pokémon stared each other out as they awaited their trainers' commands. "Pidgey, quick-attack." Jack suddenly yelled. Pidgey tucked in his wings and charged at Mankey like a bullet aiming for its chest.
"Mankey Jump" Danny yelled, Mankey managed to use its powerful leg muscles to get up and over Pidgey evading the attack. "Now focus energy." While Pidgey was trying to stabilize itself Mankey started to beat his chest furiously.
"Damn it" Jack said to himself knowing that Mankey could now land critical hits more often. "Danny is actually using smart moves; I thought that this would be easy." thought Jack while Danny ordered a karate chop.
"Dodge then air cutter Pidgey!" Pidgey swerved avoiding Mankey's attack then used air cutter at close range blasting Mankey towards Danny, Danny hoped for a critical hit to activate anger point but was left disappointed when it didn't happen.
"Mankey, scratch!" Danny roared as Mankey lunged at Pidgey raking its face. "now karate chop!" while Pidgey was recovering Mankey was lowering its right arm swiftly whacking Pidgey in it's weak spot.
"That should do it" thought Danny with a smile but was quickly suprised to discover that Jack's Pidgey was still up and already charging at Mankey with another quick attack slamming right into Mankey face dazing him.
"How is that thing still standing?" Danny shouted demanding an answer.
"Your guess is as good as mine" Jack replied equally surprised but composed himself ordering another attack.
"Pidgey hidden power!" Pidgey started to fire small blobs of energy at Mankey striking it point blank. Mankey flew backwards skidding across the ground fainting in the process, "WAHOO" Jack yelled.
"Mankey return" Danny said, sadness creeping into his voice, he swapped Mankey's Pokéball with Bulbasaur's throwing it.
"Go Bulbasaur." Bulbasaur sprang forwards growling, showing that it was ready for battle. "Vine whip!" Bulbasaur shot out it's vines aimed for Pidgey who avoided the first one with a twirl but was struck by the second sending him into a spinning nose dive.
"Double edge" Danny shouted the command and Bulbasaur quickly began charging at the falling Pidgey. Jack could only watch as his helpless Pidgey was intercepted by Bulbasaur before he could even hit the ground,
"Now finish with Razor Leaf" Danny yelled trying to finish Pidgey off, It didn't take long however as the leaves struck Pidgey fainting him.
"Pidgey return, go Squirtle" Jack said with a little reluctance knowing that Danny had the upper hand with type advantage. Danny on the other hand was now extremely confident, which was a new feeling for him.
"I guess we should finish this quickly Bulbasaur, I want to challenge that gym" Danny proclaimed, his voice exuding arrogance.
"Razor leaf Bulbasaur." The tiny plant Pokémon shot out an accurate spread of razor sharp leaves all heading towards Squirtle leaving little time to evade.
"Squirtle use aqua jet" Jack yelled panicked at the thought of a humiliating one-hit-knockout, Squirtle shot up in the air evading the leaves, did a spin and aimed directly for Bulbasaur.
Danny ordered a vine whip interception but Squirtle had other ideas, she spiraled around the vines and hit Bulbasaur side on, knocking him over.
"Where did Squirtle learn that?" thought Jack but quickly put it behind him when he saw a good attack opportunity.
"Tackle now Squirtle!" Squirtle landed about twenty five feet away from Bulbasaur, who was struggling to self right and ran as fast as she could with her shoulder braced for impact. Danny however had a light bulb moment.
"Bulbasaur use vine whip to trip Squirtle then right yourself!" Danny yelled taken aback with Squirtle's speed, power and ingenuity.
Jack panicked as Squirtle tripped and was skidding on her underside towards Bulbasaur who was bracing itself ready to counterstrike.
"Squirtle quick try withdraw" Jack yelled trying to stop Squirtle from taking damage. Instead of simply withdrawing Squirtle started spinning faster and faster until it hit Bulbasaur, who was expecting a simple collision, was thrown back by the rapidly spinning shell that struck him in his face.
"Phew, got away with that one" Jack said as he gave a sigh of relief.
"I don't like using this move... but I guess I need to." Danny said as he frowned at the thought of not actually hitting Squirtle yet. "Leech seed!"
"I was wondering when you were going to use that" Jack shouted triumphantly, he knew that if Squirtle quickly used a tackle on Bulbasaur the seed would just fall out harmlessly. Danny looked worried as Bulbasaur started producing the seed.
"Tackle now Squirtle" Jack ordered but the little turtle just stood there as if forgetting how to.
"Come on Squirtle now is not the time for this." Squirtle just stood there still trying to remember what a 'tackle' was but it was too late, the (not again) seed had already stuck to Squirtle, wrapping it's shoots around Squirtle sucking at her energy. Squirtle yelped in pain as the energy was being leeched out of her.
"Why didn't Squirtle tackle... wait a minute" a smile had crept onto Jack's face as the realization hit him. "Of course" he thought "Squirtle can't use tackle because Squirtle has forgotten tackle, when Squirtle spun into Bulbasaur she learned rapid spin."
Jacks smile hadn't gone unnoticed from Danny who wondered what Jack was up to.
"Why are you smiling?" Danny demanded "you're in a bad position"
"Not when I use this!" Jack yelled "Squirtle use rapid spin." Squirtle lost all of its confusion as she heard a command she now recognized and withdrew her head and limbs and started to spin rapidly towards Bulbasaur.
"Okay then, a new move, I don't think it will help much but whatever, razor leaf Bulbasaur!" Danny yelled but was starting to worry as the leaves were all deflecting off of Squirtle's spinning shell seemingly doing nothing.
After hitting Bulbasaur Squirtle bounced skywards, the leech seed was discarded and shriveled up on the ground. Jack ordered another aqua jet at the stunned Bulbasaur sending it flying backwards about ten feet.
"Alright what the HELL just happened there?" Danny demanded as Squirtle landed winking at him.
"That was rapid spin" Jack explained coolly "it completely removes a leech seed if it makes contact with the target." Squirtle once again winked at Danny who started fuming.
"ALRIGHT THAT'S IT. BULBASAUR VINE WHIP!!!" Danny roared. Bulbasaur started glowing green as one of the vines was easily dodged by Squirtle but the other one struck her on her torso, Squirtle started glowing a shimmering blue.
"Seems that that earlier razor leaf did more than I thought" Jack thought.
"Aqua Jet Squirtle!"
"DOUBLE EDGE!!!" they both shouted at the same time, both Pokémon charged at each other at their maximum speeds and collided causing an explosion that enveloped the battlefield in smoke.
When the smoke cleared the two Pokémon were up staring each other out but panting from exhaustion, this seemed to go on for an eternity until Bulbasaur collapsed.
Squirtle fell backwards seconds later but the result was clear Danny had lost, Jack had won, as he was jumping in joy Danny came up to him and offered his hand.
"Guess I went a bit overboard there huh?"
"Nah" Jack said accepting Danny's hand "I would've done the same thing." Noticing the exausted Pokémon on the floor, said to Danny "Let's heal our Pokémon."
Danny and Jack left their Pokémon with Nurse Joy and went to get some dinner and while waiting for their Pokémon to be healed started talking about what they were going to do next.
"Well I think I will challenge the Gym I need to catch up to Luke" Jack said remembering his friend's gloating phone call.
"I think I will wait a bit before challenging." Before his friend could reply Danny sighed "I just don't think I am ready yet"
After another five minutes of chatting Nurse Joy brought them their Pokémon for the second time today.
"Well" Jack yawned "I am going to bed, see you in the morning" Jack traipsed up the Pokécentre stairs and went to the room he booked earlier. He let Squirtle and Pidgey out of their Pokéballs to congratulate them on a good battle. "You guys were great today" he said stroking both of them.
"You deserve these" he pulled out two Sitrus berries offering them to his Pokémon to which they eagerly ate. Jack then crawled onto the bed, with Squirtle jumping on too, (it won't be sexual) Pidgey slept on the headboard, Jack sighed as he looked at the clock, even though it was only quarter to nine he fell asleep instantly.
Chapter 2iii
Mini recap: Luke Chose Charmander from Oak and was defeated by Jack in battle, he then proceeded with his journey straight away so is a little bit further along his journey than the other two, he has also already got his first badge which resulted in the evolution of his Charmander.
"Go away!" Luke yelled as another Zubat swooped at him, he was getting sick of the constant barrage of Zubats attacking him as he trekked through the deepest part of Mt. Moon, of course he didn't have to travel through the mountain, nowadays the Kanto government supplies cable cars, going over the mountain cutting the normally three hour journey into a simple five minute ride, still he couldn't believe that he decided to go through with this torture, as he thought this his mind wandered back about an hour.
As Luke was about to pay for the cable cars a large man came up behind him laughing.
"Yet another pansy taking the cable cars then eh?" he boomed patting Luke on his head. "When I was a wee lad, we used to have to go through the cave" he said as Luke spun round recognizing the loud voice. Even though Luke knew who it was he was still surprised to see the looming figure of Mr. Clarke, Jack's dad, smiling behind him.
"Hey Mr. Clarke" Luke said "what are you doing here?"
"Well I was waiting for you, Danny and me son!" he shouted unable to speak quietly. "I have something for you." Mr. Clarke reached into his back pocket and pulled out three small slips of paper handing one to Luke.
"These tickets came through the mail for you three" he then looked around before asking "where are Danny and Jack anyway." Luke glanced at the ticket before replying.
"Err... Danny, I think is in the forest and as for Jack well... He might be in Pewter by now." He then read the ticket more thoroughly. "S.S Anne double battle tournament, I wonder what that is"
"The S.S Anne double battle tournament is a tournament held every year in Vermillion city for beginner trainers." Mr. Clarke boomed "If I recall correctly the winner gets a Pokémon egg as a prize."
Luke's eyes lit up at this revelation as he had not been the least bit interested in entering, he did however want to experience what it would be like to hatch an egg as he had heard that it was a very fulfilling experience.
"Well I better head to Pewter to deliver these two" Mr. Clarke yelled as he left.
"Hmm..." Luke thought aloud "I will need to catch a Pokémon for this tournament." he then decided that it would be best to go through Mt. Moon as it would increase his chances of seeing a Pokémon he would consider good enough for him.
As soon as Luke entered the cave he immediately had to let Charmeleon out of it's Pokéball as it was nearly pitch black in there. Having Charmeleon with him had its good points but equally had its bad points, having enough light to see was good and it kept him warm but the wild Zubats who inhabited the cave did not appreciate the light disturbing their home, the wild Zubats dive bombed him at every opportunity.
"I don't like Zubats." Luke thought then remembering why he decided to go through Mt. Moon in the first place. "I wonder what other Pokémon live here" It was at that time another Zubat swooped down for him.
"Go away!" Luke yelled as another Zubat crashed into him, he was beginning to get sick of the swarm of wild Zubats attacking him as he trekked through Mt. Moon. This one however was different, instead of the normal blue color; this Zubat was a rather dull shade of green.
"Oh my god!" Luke squealed not noticing something scurrying behind him. "It's a green Zubat!" Luke knew that alternately colored Pokémon were probably the rarest Pokémon anyone could find. As he sized up the green Zubat and before he could engage it in battle he and Charmeleon were blasted from behind by a plume of stun spore.
Luke started to feel his body locking up as he lost all feeling in his legs and fell backwards fortunately leaning into a wall, before his arms became useless he returned Charmeleon knowing that the stun spore would wear off in twenty minutes, only his eyes and organs worked as he frantically looked around for the user of the stun spore, he didn't have to wait long however, as the culprit revealed itself as a Paras which was crawling over his leg ready to bite him.
"Fuck!" he thought unable to do anything against the Paras, which was trying to find an open spot on his clothes, when the green Zubat rammed it with a wing attack, scaring it off.
"Wow." Luke thought, happy that he wasn't going to be eaten alive. As the Zubat was flitting around, happy with it's victory Luke was starting to get the feeling back in his head. "Thanks Zubat." He mumbled.
The Zubat however wasn't doing this for Jack, she was doing this for herself.
She noticed earlier that Luke couldn't move and she was felling quite hungry, so she flew down and landed on Luke's arm, Luke however thought that the Zubat was just being affectionate so was oblivious to the Zubat's intentions so didn't notice when the Zubat sank her fangs into Luke's arm, drinking his blood.
It was at this time that Luke's arms were regaining feeling and he felt a sharp pain course through his arm, looking down he saw the Zubat, face buried into his arm. Panicking Luke used all of his strength to yank his arm away from the Zubat and then reached for Charmeleon's Pokéball.
Before he could release Charmeleon three cloaked men ran past him shouting at each other.
"What a FUCKING waste of time that was!" one of them shouted causing Zubat to cower next to Luke.
"Well we got these?" another one pointed to the various Pokémon in cages they were carrying
"Well they're all worthless, we nearly got caught by the police and for what" the first one retorted while pointing at the cages.
"Two Fucking Rattatas and a bloody (not bleeding) Spearow." He started pacing backward and forwards. "You know what I didn't sign up for this" he then got up and stormed off leaving the other two guys arguing among their selves.
As they were arguing Luke started to feel some tingling in his legs, he then started to pull himself up.
"He is right, i'm also leaving, I thought that things would be different after Unova but once again it's not happening it's all gonna go wrong." He stormed off leaving the last guy alone with the cowering caged Pokémon.
"Fine, Leave!" The third one yelled after them "When I become rich don't expect any favors from me!" He then began to grab the cages and headed off in the opposite direction.
While this was happening Luke had fully regained control of his body and stepped in front of the guy startling him.
"Who are you and what are you doing with those Pokémon?" Luke demanded pointing at the thief. At first the cloaked man started shaking thinking it was the police but soon felt relieved that it was just a kid.
"Well!" Luke demanded, his rage intensifying. There were only two things in the world that Luke truly hated, Crime and Criminals.
"Move over now kid, unless you want to get hurt." The thief expected his words to intimidate Luke but was surprised when Luke just stood there his eyes filled with rage.
"Why don't you just give me those Pokémon and I will tell the police that you were cooperative?" Luke calmly asked but with a small amount of anger.
"Hah" the thief replied "and just who do you think you are an Officer Jenny"
"No" Luke said chuckling slightly. "Just the son of one." Luke then grabbed a Pokéball, throwing it. "Go Charmeleon"
"Huh a battle then" the thief smiled and grabbed one of his Pokéballs off of his belt releasing a Raticate.
"Use Hyper Fang" the rat Pokémon lunged at Charmeleon with its now extended teeth.
"Charmeleon use dragon rage" Luke calmly commanded as Charmeleon started glowing then released a large mystical fire ball at the oncoming Raticate knocking it back "Now metal claw"
"Ice beam Raticate!" the thief shouted a little worried at the raw power of his opponent. Raticate charged up a small energy ball of ice that sent a long frozen beam at Charmeleon which Charmeleon just deflected easily with its metal claws then proceeded to slash at the defenseless Raticate.
"Your weak" Luke snarled at the thief "you act tough but you're just pathetic, like the petty crook you are."
"You may be stronger" the thief responded "but I am smarter." He then threw another Pokéball into the field from which an Arbok jumped out, hissing at Luke and Charmeleon. "Arbok wrap, Raticate quick attack!"
"Shit, Dodge Charmeleon" Luke was worried now knowing that Charmeleon would eventually become overwhelmed. Charmeleon managed to dodge the quick attack but was then left open to the Arbok's wrap, constricting and crushing him.
"Ember Now" Luke yelled. Charmeleon fired burning embers at the Arbok's face causing it to release him but was then struck by the Raticate's hyper fang causing serious damage.
Luke knew this was bad, Charmeleon couldn't last much longer and he knew that the thief would hurt the helpless Pokémon in the cages if he didn't rescue them. He needed a miracle.
"Giving up then Kid, I don't blame yah" the thief proclaimed triumphantly "but say, that Charmeleon aint half bad, I'll take it. Arbok grab it now" Arbok made for Charmeleon but was struck at the side from a wing attack.
"What the fuck was that!" the thief yelled as Arbok rose up to face it's attacker only to be struck again from behind, this time from a shadow ball.
The mystery attacker then flew into bit of light emanating from a crack in the caves' ceiling revealing itself to be none other than the dark green Zubat.
Zubat then rushed at the Arbok again using another wing attack knocking the Arbok into the wall causing it to faint.
"Arghhhh." the thief yelled as he returned his Arbok "Raticate use hyper fang on that Zubat" Raticate sprung forwards teeth extending as it flew. Zubat had no chance of evading as Raticate came closer.
"Charmeleon, use metal claw!" Luke yelled as Charmeleon jumped in front of Raticate, claws raised and intercepted the Raticate hitting it in the gut, as the Raticate fainted Luke ran up to the thief and grabbed him by his throat pinning him against a wall.
"Alright" he demanded "who are you and who do you work for!"
"We will deal with this now!" A female voice shouted making Luke let go of the criminal. Luke turned around knowing who it was. "Luke! What are you doing here?"
"Hey Mom, Just passing through" Luke replied knowing that she would eventually lecture him so tried to act innocent.
"You know that you should call me for these things, you could have been hurt" Luke's mom shouted as she examined him, she had always told him to let the police handle things like this and not to do it himself.
As the other officers carted the thug away and retrieved the caged Pokémon the Officer Jenny in charge escorted her son out of the cave.
"I am perfectly fine mom stop worrying so much" Luke groaned as his mom started checking him for injuries.
"Well I wouldn't have to if you would stop trying to play 'vigilante' all of the time" she teased knowing Luke's tendency to stop people from committing crimes no matter how petty they were.
"So mom was he part of the 'N' gang you have been searching for?" Luke asked.
"Yes" she replied thinking before continuing "actually he is the second one we have arrested today."
They kept on chatting until they reached the edge of Cerulean City where they split, her heading back to Pewter, and him heading for the Pokécentre. Luke then checked his Pokégear and was shocked at the time.
"I can't believe that it is already two o'clock in the morning, I wonder If Nurse joy is awake." Luke thought as he sighted the Pokécentre. Before he opened the door something green flew into his face knocking him over. It was the Green Zubat from earlier.
"Ow..." Luke said as he stood up holding the bat in his arms "hey, I nearly forgot about you, thanks for earlier, you really helped me out there." The Zubat nuzzled Luke affectionately causing him to blush. Zubat then flew to Luke's belt and tapped one of his empty Pokéballs opening it and allowing herself be captured.
"That was weird" Luke said as he yawned "but I guess I will deal with it in the morning." He then opened the door to the Pokécentre and went in and went straight away towards a sofa. He then lay down and went to sleep almost immediately.Chapter End Notes:Well this is my first 'proper' chapter I enjoyed writing it and I hope that you will enjoy reading it. Reviews are encouraged and I hope to get Chapter 3: The S.S Anne double battle Tournament Up by Wednesday at the earliest or Friday by the latest, Sorry about the Lack of Gym battles so far but don't worry they will come soon. Finally I apologize for the shortness of Luke's mini chapter compared to the other two but there wasn't much more I could fit into Mt. Moon.
Can I just also Add that my love affair with Formula One has been rekindled after what I can say was the greatest race that I have seen in a loooooong time, well done Jenson Button what a win. If you didn't see the race he won pitting six times, hitting two other drivers, starting seventh then ending up last before driving through to the lead
Chapter 2i: Danny
Mini recap: Danny received Bulbasaur from Professor Oak and... Well... that's it really.
"Well your Bulbasaur is 100% healthy so I am happy to let you start your journey" Nurse Joy smiled as she said this "but be careful out there, there are lots of dangerous people in this world so be sure to visit my relatives in every town, I will be checking" she added.
"I know mother" replied Danny, he has only ever called his mom 'mother' when she is annoying him, "we will be alright you know."
"I know, I know but with your father working Unova region you're all I have left" she kissed Danny's cheek as she said this knowing that he hated it. "Well go on, get going, I have patients to take care of" Danny looked behind him, a line of six people were beginning to get disgruntled.
"Come on Bulbasaur Let's go get 'em" Danny shouted as he ran outside the Pokémon Centre with Bulbasaur running alongside, Bulbasaur was just relieved to not be in the examination room anymore as he was getting sick of being poked and prodded with different medical instruments, he knew why she did it though, he had spent the night getting to know Danny and his mom and could sense that she was incredibly worried about him.
"I wonder where I should go first" Danny said this aloud as if expecting to get an answer. Suddenly he jumped as he heard a ringing noise in his pocket "whoa." He thought "I wonder who is calling me already." He opened his Pokégear and was quite annoyed at who it was "Mom" he sighed "what do you want now?"
"I was just checking up on you honey I am so worried" she replied, her voice was cracking up as she was holding back her tears.
"But I can still see you through the window, I am literally twenty meters away from you" Danny was getting annoyed but he knew that she was going to miss him; he was also going to miss her.
"Just don't forget to heal your Pokémon as much as possible and don't forget to go to the Pokémart as well and don't forget about the map on your Pokégear and don't forget to call me every day."
"Don't worry mother, yeah I love you too, bye." Danny hung up "she is always like that" he said to Bulbasaur as he knelt down to pet him, Bulbasaur cooed as he did this "now then off to the shopping centre." As Danny and Bulbasaur walked down the road to the Pokémart Bulbasaur was taking in the sights of a modern City.
Growing up in Pallet town Bulbasaur was used to trees and grass everywhere not roads with cars going in different directions, even though Bulbasaur had seen vehicles before sheer size and noise was scaring him a little.
After walking around for a few minutes Danny and Bulbasaur passed a few big stores selling grooming products for Pokémon and humans, they also passed an odd clothes store for Pokémon which Bulbasaur cringed at noticing another Bulbasaur being forced to wear a princess costume.
After a while Danny came across a slightly ageing blue roofed building and entered the door ringing the bell. He was greeted by a bored looking guy reading a newspaper.
"Welcome sir how may I help you toda- ah I see, another new trainer" the clerk had noticed Danny's fairly young Bulbasaur.
"Huh... what do you mean?" Danny asked puzzled.
"Well about an hour ago a guy with a blue jacket and a Squirtle was here and yesterday a guy in a red jacket was here with a Charmander" the clerk answered.
"Oh..." Danny looked dejected realizing already that he was falling behind Jack and Luke. "Erm... is there anything that you would recommend for a novice trainer"
"As a matter of fact I have the perfect package for newbie trainers" the clerk paused as he picked a parcel from the middle shelf behind the counter. "There, that should be all you will need for now"
"What is in it?" Danny asked.
"Just your basic ten Potions, five antidotes, five paralysis heals, five burn heals, ten tins of Pokémon food and a camping set all for $3000" the clerk said in a bored tone as if he had said this thousands of times.
"$3000! How am I going to pay for that" Danny yelled causing the clerk to jump back.
"Erm didn't you get your grant money from the Government yet?" the clerk asked a little bit nervously. Danny remembered what Professor Oak had said to him yesterday.
"Oh... right err yeah but erm... How do I, err... how do I get the money?" Danny asked wondering if there was a cash machine (ATM) around. The clerk was laughing.
"Pass me your Pokédex, God you really are a rookie" He said while attaching a small cable from the till to the Pokédex. "There you go, have a safe journey sir." As Danny left he could hear the clerk still laughing at his earlier question.
After a few minutes of aimless walking Danny checked his Pokégear and clicked the Map app (I know it rhymes) and checked where he should be going.
"Okay" he said "we should be going that way" he was pointing north towards Viridian Forest "Pewter city is just through that forest and we can get our first badge Bulbasaur."
"Saur, Bulbasaur" the grass Pokémon cheerfully said. He was just happy to be outside in the sun going off on an adventure. As they entered the forest the sounds of forest Pokémon rang through the late morning air.
After a while Danny started getting tired from his nonstop trek through the winding maze that was Viridian Forest, Danny and Bulbasaur came upon a fork in the road.
"Let's rest for a bit Bulbasaur" Danny panted as he sat on a tree stump, Bulbasaur didn't need to stop as he was getting all of his energy from the sun but obeyed. "Are you hungry?" Danny asked. Bulbasaur shook his head and pointed a vine towards the sun.
"Oh yeah, I forgot Grass type Pokémon photosynthesize for food, well I'm hungry" Dan started to reach into his bag for the packed lunch his mom made for him but stopped when his Pokégear rang.
"I swear to god if this is mom again I am going to flip." Thought Danny but as he opened it up he was surprised as it was Luke who had phoned him. "What's up Luke" Danny said "where are you?"
"I am just outside Mt. Moon" Luke replied "with my buddy, go on say hello" the phone went quiet for a few seconds but Danny could make out a grumbling noise saying 'meleon'.
"No way a Charmeleon and you're already at Mt. Moon; does this mean you already have a badge?" Danny asked.
"Of course it does Danny-boy" Luke teased "it was a tough battle I thought I was going to lose until Charmander evolved, he saved the battle for me with dragon rage."
The conversation went on for another couple of minutes with Danny listening intently "aww man, I'm so jealous, I'm still in Viridian forest" Danny whined.
"Whoa your waaay behind, anyway when you reach the fork in the forest take the left way its the only way out of the forest, if you go right it's a dead end. I've got to go now mate I am at the entrance of the cave, later."
"Wow we have a lot of catching up to do Bulbasaur" Danny stood up ready to continue" but sat right back down when his stomach started rumbling "but first I think I will eat."
Danny chuckled as he grabbed a packet of plain crisps from his bag and started eating, while he was eating he decided to play his radio app on his Pokégear where he decided to listen to Professor Oak's show, as he was listening to Oak talk about various Pokémon locations, attacks and descriptions something landed behind him and was surveying him, Bulbasaur heard some rustling behind him but was distracted by an announcement on the radio.
"We interrupt the following broadcast for some breaking news!" the announcer said "Viridian city gym has found a new benefactor and will be re-opened as soon as it has been refurbished, it is currently unknown who the financier is or who will be taking over the currently vacant Gym leader's position, we will have more on this story as we get any information. We will now return you to your programme."
"Wow" Danny thought "that gym has been abandoned for ages, I wonder who the benefactor is" Danny wondered as he switched off the radio in the middle of an advert and resumed eating, as soon as he got halfway through the bag something grabbed them off of him and climbed a nearby tree.
"Hey what are you doing" he looked up a tree to see a Mankey laughing at him. "Bulbasaur use vine whip the get the crisps" Bulbasaur quickly sent its vines to wrestle the crisps from Mankey's hands and then threw them to Danny who had pulled out his Pokédex to scan the Mankey.
"Looks like you're going to be my first capture you thieving bastard, Bulbasaur Razor Leaf."
Bulbasaur shot out a barrage of sharp leaves at the Mankey and hit its weak spot. "YES! what a hit Bulbasaur, wait a minute, uh-oh" Danny remembered Mankey's Pokédex entry, one of its abilities was anger point and sure enough Mankey was shaking in fury, it's eyes had gone red and a big vein was pulsing in its temple.
"Bulbasaur be careful Mankey is a full power" Bulbasaur nodded at its trainers words, the wild Mankey lunged with a karate chop and struck Bulbasaur right on its bulb, Bulbasaur yelped in pain as he was sent flying backwards.
"Holy shit" Danny yelled "Dodge Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur Narrowly dodged the incoming scratch attack, Mankey kept up the assault of scratches while Bulbasaur was frantically dodging them nearly getting hit by a few of them.
"I need an opening" Danny thought "Bulbasaur can't keep dodging." The Mankey jumped backwards and started beating it's chest frantically using focus energy.
"This is my chance" Danny said to himself then yelled "Bulbasaur use leech seed." Bulbasaur produced a single brown seed from the hole in its bulb and fired it straight at Mankey.
Mankey tried to punch it away but the seed was sticky (not sexual) and started producing shoots that quickly bound the Mankey up sucking it's energy. (Still not sexual)
"Alright go pokéball" Danny shouted as he threw the spherical capture device at the helpless Mankey which sucked the Mankey with the seed (Seriously I can't help it this part has a lot of innuendo) inside with a harsh red light.
As the ball floated to the ground it shook once, then it shook again while Bulbasaur and Danny looked on nervously, it then shook one final time before emitting a low pitch pinging sound and sparkled with bluish crystals.
"Yes! I just caught a Mankey" Danny shouted in success. He picked up the Pokéball and scanned it. "Okay, it is weakened after that battle but otherwise alright."
Being the son of a nurse Joy he could tell that a simple potion wouldn't do much, so it just needed to spend a little time in a healing machine.
"Are you still Okay to go Buddy?" Danny asked Bulbasaur, his Nurse Joy instincts told him that Bulbasaur could keep going but he still wanted confirmation.
"Saur" Bulbasaur nodded, quite proud to have helped Danny capture his first Pokémon.
"Well just to be safe..." Danny pulled out a potion and sprayed it on the red mark on Bulbasaur's bulb, "there, good as new" Danny exclaimed while the red mark quickly disappeared, he then picked up his crisps and started finishing them offering one to Bulbasaur, who sniffed it.
Seeing as there was nothing wrong with it quickly started to eat it, Bulbasaur enjoyed the crunchy sound the crisp made as he chewed it noting an odd salty taste. (Did I do it again?) "Well... umm... oh yeah, that's right, Luke said to go left, come on Bulbasaur."
Within an hour Danny and Bulbasaur had reached the end of Viridian Forest and could see that Pewter city was just past ahead.
"Whew, we made it, I wonder where the Pokémon Centre is?" Danny was aimlessly walking through the city looking all around when he noticed an odd man trying to get peoples' attention "maybe he knows" thought Danny as he made his way over to him.
"Excuse me sir, do you know where the Pokémon centre is?" He asked.
"Pokémon Centre, pah, you want to go to the museum mate, we have got some new fossils of Pokémon, come on, I'll show you." Despite Danny's protests the odd man dragged Danny, with Bulbasaur following, to the museum entrance and forced him in.
The museum was pretty but old fashioned, several people were marveling at the various fossils on display with their Pokémon looking equally amazed.
"Well better make the most of it hey, Bulb-" Danny stopped as he crashed into a tall cloaked man. "Ow, sorry, I didn't mean to do that."
"Kid you better watch where you're going. Hey is that a Bulbasaur? I love poison types" the mysterious cloaked man replied noticing the Bulbasaur helping Danny up with its vines
"yeah this is my partner Bulbasaur were gonna compete in the..." before Danny could continue he noticed that the mysterious man's cloak had opened at the front a little revealing a big, shiny gold and silver 'N' on his dull silver jacket.
"Oh my god you're with Team Rocket!" Danny shouted pointing at him mistaking the 'N' as a Team Rocket 'R'. As Danny uttered the word 'Team Rocket' people in the museum started panicking and trying to call for an Officer Jenny.
"Fuck!" the mystery man shouted reaching for a walkie talkie, "my cover's blown, abort the operation." Three other cloaked people quickly headed towards the exit grabbing people's Pokémon as they ran. The guy that Danny bumped into grabbed Bulbasaur off of the ground and ran outside.
Danny gave chase, adrenalin taking control of his body and without thinking, he lunged at the thief's legs, tackling him to the ground. The crook fell flat on the floor as Bulbasaur was released from his grasp and rejoined its trainer.
"That's it! You have really made me angry now; I will punish you severely for that!" He yelled pulling a pokéball from his belt and throwing it, a Koffing jumped out floating side to side.
"I will be taking that Bulbasaur when I win this, Koffing use Gyro ball" Koffing started spinning towards Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur was hit head on, Danny now had no choice but to battle.
"Bulbasaur tackle now!" Danny shouted as Bulbasaur tackled Koffing sending it back to its trainer however it didn't seem to do much damage.
"Ha, tackle; you must be a rookie, that Bulbasaur is probably worthless." The crook taunted, this however only seemed to anger Bulbasaur, which without the command of his trainer, shot a barrage of Razor Leaves at Koffing who dodged easily "it doesn't even obey you. Koffing, use sludge!"
"Bulbasaur Dodge it quick!" Danny yelled hoping that Bulbasaur would listen. Bulbasaur did and rolled sideways evading the oncoming toxic slime, this was the only time though as Koffing started scoring back to back hits on Bulbasaur. Danny was frantically trying to get Bulbasaur to dodge correctly but his timing was off by a mile.
"Come on kid be more of a sport." the thief yelled yawning. "Go on, I will let you have a free hit." Bulbasaur was nearing its limit as Danny started to get worried.
"I can't let him take Bulbasaur but what can I do?" Danny asked himself getting dejected, knowing he had only one choice. "Bulbasaur! Use tackle full power!" Danny ordered.
"Tackle how boring" The thief sneered but the smile was soon wiped off of his face as Bulbasaur became enveloped in a bright white light and smacked Koffing head-on "Damn it that was double-edge!" he yelled scared for the first time in the battle as Koffing was helpless, spinning upwards in the air.
"Grab Koffing with vine whip" Danny yelled sensing a good opportunity. Bulbasaur started glowing green as its vine, also glowing green, wrapped around Koffing. "Now throw it to the ground!" Bulbasaur slammed Koffing into the ground hurting it.
"Do it again Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur got Koffing with another double-edge, vine whip combo. As Koffing wobbled up, Danny ordered a final Razor Leaf attack. The Leaves shone Green as they struck Koffing.
"One more vine whip Bulbasaur!" Danny shouted not giving his opponent any time to react.
With one more slam to the ground Koffing finally fainted, the thief cursed as he returned his Koffing and tried to run off hearing approaching sirens, Danny however had other ideas and ordered Bulbasaur to lasso the thief, stopping him from escaping.
The next hour was a blur for Danny as the police wanted his statement, then he had to identify the thief in a line up and he was then escorted to the Pokémon centre where he suddenly started crying, the Nurse Joy recognized Danny as her nephew and went over to comfort him.
"What's wrong Danny?" She asked?
"I nearly lost Bulbasaur." He cried.
"But you won the battle and Bulbasaur is fine" she said comforting him.
"But what about those other people's Pokémon, what will happen to them" Nurse Joy frowned at the thought of this then beckoned something from the corner of the centre.
"I am sure the police can retrieve them, the important thing is that you and your Pokémon perfectly fine, you just need to sleep like them" she then whispered something to a Pokémon that Danny couldn't see and walked away.
Danny didn't want to sleep but could hear a soothing lullaby. The lullaby was troubling him urging him to sleep.
As he drifted off he could just make out a small round pink Pokémon with large blue eyes. He eventually lay down on a nearby sofa and entered a restful sleep.
Chapter 2ii: Jack
Mini recap: Jack received Squirtle from Oak and immediately challenged Luke to a battle in which he was victorious.
"Squirtle use Bubble now!" Jack yelled as the Pidgey was trying to blow them away with gust, the bubbles however connected with their target knocking the Pidgey down, but not out.
"Go Pokéball" He shouted curling the ball at the now stricken Pidgey, it connected absorbing the Pidgey within it, this was the third time he had thrown the Pokéball at the tiny pigeon Pokémon but it just kept breaking out, the ball shook once, then again. Wait!! I bet you are wondering how this all started right? Well let us just back up about twenty minutes earlier.
Jack had gone right instead of left at the fork in the road and had become hopelessly lost, he had stumbled across a quiet stream running through the middle of the forest, it was a picturesque scene with a fallen log forming a natural bridge, probably made by the wild Pokémon in the area.
Jack sighed wondering how the hell he was going to get out of the forest as he desperately wanted to try out the gym in Pewter city, earlier he had had a phone call from his good friend Luke smugly gloating about his first gym victory. Jack, in his desperation to catch up forgot his friend's advice about going left at the fork in the road.
He tried turning back but the forest looked identical wherever he was facing, he eventually swallowed his pride and let Squirtle, who had been begging him to let her help, lead him out but she just got them to this forest clearing as she was just following the scent of some Sitrus berries, which as it turns out are her favorite, as Squirtle was eating her fourth berry an angry Pidgey started squawking at her.
"Umm... Squirtle" Jack said "I think those berries are that Pidgey's." Squirtle however did not care and casually swatted the Pidgey away, not hard enough to hurt it but hard enough to send it back a few feet and out of her face.
"Hmm..." Jack thought rubbing his chin "that Pidgey could help me out of this forest and even if it is weak I could just release it." He chucked a Pokéball expecting to get it straight away but was surprised when the Pidgey burst out immediately.
"Guess this little one has a bit more fight in it than I anticipated." Jack commented "Squirtle! Tackle it now!" Squirtle charged at the Pidgey noticeably faster than it was when it battled Luke's Charmander yesterday and scored a direct hit.
The Pidgey was hurtling backwards but regained its composure with an airborne back flip that quickly turned into a quick attack, the Pidgey was charging for Squirtle's head.
Jack quickly ordered a withdraw narrowly evading the Pidgey's attack, the Pidgey however was about to crash into a tree but used gust to create a pocket of wind resistance which killed it's momentum.
Jack used this opportunity to call for an aqua jet slamming the Pidgey into the tree, Jack once again threw the Pokéball at the stunned Pidgey for a second time but once again Pidgey broke free.
"Why you little bastard" Jack shouted although, he was more than a little impressed with the birds resilience.
"Use bubble Squirtle" Jack commanded but the Pidgey was waiting for this and launched a flurry of air cutters that popped the bubbles and struck Squirtle. Pidgey used this opportunity to start up a powerful gust attack.
"Squirtle use bubble now!" Jack yelled as the Pidgey was trying to blow them away with the gust, the bubbles however connected with their target knocking the Pidgey down, but not out.
"Go Pokéball" He shouted curling the ball at the Pidgey, it connected absorbing the Pidgey within it, the ball shook once, then again, then a third time pinging to signify capture. "Finally I caught you" He yelled whilst dancing with Squirtle.
He immediately let the Pidgey out and scanned it with his Pokédex checking it's moves.
"Okay then, Gust, Air Cutter, Quick attack (where have I heard that before) and Hidden Power, not bad little guy" Jack said impressed as the bird puffed up its feathers heeding the trainer's praise, Jack then asked
"I need your help Pidgey, can you lead me out of this forest?" the Pidgey nodded taking off. Before he followed Jack made sure to grab some leftover Sitrus berries of off the ground before following Pidgey out of the clearing and towards the fork in the road. Jack noticed evidence of a battle that wasn't there on his first visit, after a minutes rest Jack took the left path towards Pewter City.
Jack arrived in Pewter City and headed towards the Pokémon Centre to book a room and get his team healed, while he was waiting in the lobby he glanced towards the T.V, where there were two Hariyamas in a sumo ring desperately trying to push each other out, it was only then that he saw his mate Danny curled up sleeping on a sofa hugging a very content looking Jigglypuff.
Jack ,although a little puzzled, walked up to Danny and gently nudged him causing him to wake up.
"Huh... whuzzzat. Arghhhh" he yelled as he flung the Jigglypuff across the room, Jack was worried that the little Pokémon was going to be hurt but was relieved when it floated to the floor like a balloon, it was laughing as it made it's way towards another sleepy looking trainer.
"Oh, hey Jack what are you doing here?" he said groggily
"I could ask you the same thing" Jack looked at Danny realizing this was the perfect opportunity to test his team for his gym battle. "Say... wanna battle?" Jack asked. Danny thought about this for a second before replying.
"Oh go on then, just let me get my Pokémon from Aunt Joy." Danny had been itching to see if he could beat the son of a champion.
As the guys walked up to the counter they set the battle terms and started describing their new adventures so far.
"Wow, that sounds horrible, hey weren't all crime syndicates wiped out ages ago?" Jack wondered as he asked this.
"Maybe these ones are new" Danny said answering Jacks question "they just don't quit do they?" The guys continued walking up to the caged roof of the Pokécentre (I have just realized that I have been using the term 'Pokémon Centre' up until now) where there was a rooftop battle arena.
Danny and Jack made their way to opposite ends of the battlefield, glared into each other's eyes as if trying to psych each other out, and then threw their Pokéballs at the same time.
"Go Mankey" Danny yelled.
"Go Pidgey" Jack shouted. Both Pokémon stared each other out as they awaited their trainers' commands. "Pidgey, quick-attack." Jack suddenly yelled. Pidgey tucked in his wings and charged at Mankey like a bullet aiming for its chest.
"Mankey Jump" Danny yelled, Mankey managed to use its powerful leg muscles to get up and over Pidgey evading the attack. "Now focus energy." While Pidgey was trying to stabilize itself Mankey started to beat his chest furiously.
"Damn it" Jack said to himself knowing that Mankey could now land critical hits more often. "Danny is actually using smart moves; I thought that this would be easy." thought Jack while Danny ordered a karate chop.
"Dodge then air cutter Pidgey!" Pidgey swerved avoiding Mankey's attack then used air cutter at close range blasting Mankey towards Danny, Danny hoped for a critical hit to activate anger point but was left disappointed when it didn't happen.
"Mankey, scratch!" Danny roared as Mankey lunged at Pidgey raking its face. "now karate chop!" while Pidgey was recovering Mankey was lowering its right arm swiftly whacking Pidgey in it's weak spot.
"That should do it" thought Danny with a smile but was quickly suprised to discover that Jack's Pidgey was still up and already charging at Mankey with another quick attack slamming right into Mankey face dazing him.
"How is that thing still standing?" Danny shouted demanding an answer.
"Your guess is as good as mine" Jack replied equally surprised but composed himself ordering another attack.
"Pidgey hidden power!" Pidgey started to fire small blobs of energy at Mankey striking it point blank. Mankey flew backwards skidding across the ground fainting in the process, "WAHOO" Jack yelled.
"Mankey return" Danny said, sadness creeping into his voice, he swapped Mankey's Pokéball with Bulbasaur's throwing it.
"Go Bulbasaur." Bulbasaur sprang forwards growling, showing that it was ready for battle. "Vine whip!" Bulbasaur shot out it's vines aimed for Pidgey who avoided the first one with a twirl but was struck by the second sending him into a spinning nose dive.
"Double edge" Danny shouted the command and Bulbasaur quickly began charging at the falling Pidgey. Jack could only watch as his helpless Pidgey was intercepted by Bulbasaur before he could even hit the ground,
"Now finish with Razor Leaf" Danny yelled trying to finish Pidgey off, It didn't take long however as the leaves struck Pidgey fainting him.
"Pidgey return, go Squirtle" Jack said with a little reluctance knowing that Danny had the upper hand with type advantage. Danny on the other hand was now extremely confident, which was a new feeling for him.
"I guess we should finish this quickly Bulbasaur, I want to challenge that gym" Danny proclaimed, his voice exuding arrogance.
"Razor leaf Bulbasaur." The tiny plant Pokémon shot out an accurate spread of razor sharp leaves all heading towards Squirtle leaving little time to evade.
"Squirtle use aqua jet" Jack yelled panicked at the thought of a humiliating one-hit-knockout, Squirtle shot up in the air evading the leaves, did a spin and aimed directly for Bulbasaur.
Danny ordered a vine whip interception but Squirtle had other ideas, she spiraled around the vines and hit Bulbasaur side on, knocking him over.
"Where did Squirtle learn that?" thought Jack but quickly put it behind him when he saw a good attack opportunity.
"Tackle now Squirtle!" Squirtle landed about twenty five feet away from Bulbasaur, who was struggling to self right and ran as fast as she could with her shoulder braced for impact. Danny however had a light bulb moment.
"Bulbasaur use vine whip to trip Squirtle then right yourself!" Danny yelled taken aback with Squirtle's speed, power and ingenuity.
Jack panicked as Squirtle tripped and was skidding on her underside towards Bulbasaur who was bracing itself ready to counterstrike.
"Squirtle quick try withdraw" Jack yelled trying to stop Squirtle from taking damage. Instead of simply withdrawing Squirtle started spinning faster and faster until it hit Bulbasaur, who was expecting a simple collision, was thrown back by the rapidly spinning shell that struck him in his face.
"Phew, got away with that one" Jack said as he gave a sigh of relief.
"I don't like using this move... but I guess I need to." Danny said as he frowned at the thought of not actually hitting Squirtle yet. "Leech seed!"
"I was wondering when you were going to use that" Jack shouted triumphantly, he knew that if Squirtle quickly used a tackle on Bulbasaur the seed would just fall out harmlessly. Danny looked worried as Bulbasaur started producing the seed.
"Tackle now Squirtle" Jack ordered but the little turtle just stood there as if forgetting how to.
"Come on Squirtle now is not the time for this." Squirtle just stood there still trying to remember what a 'tackle' was but it was too late, the (not again) seed had already stuck to Squirtle, wrapping it's shoots around Squirtle sucking at her energy. Squirtle yelped in pain as the energy was being leeched out of her.
"Why didn't Squirtle tackle... wait a minute" a smile had crept onto Jack's face as the realization hit him. "Of course" he thought "Squirtle can't use tackle because Squirtle has forgotten tackle, when Squirtle spun into Bulbasaur she learned rapid spin."
Jacks smile hadn't gone unnoticed from Danny who wondered what Jack was up to.
"Why are you smiling?" Danny demanded "you're in a bad position"
"Not when I use this!" Jack yelled "Squirtle use rapid spin." Squirtle lost all of its confusion as she heard a command she now recognized and withdrew her head and limbs and started to spin rapidly towards Bulbasaur.
"Okay then, a new move, I don't think it will help much but whatever, razor leaf Bulbasaur!" Danny yelled but was starting to worry as the leaves were all deflecting off of Squirtle's spinning shell seemingly doing nothing.
After hitting Bulbasaur Squirtle bounced skywards, the leech seed was discarded and shriveled up on the ground. Jack ordered another aqua jet at the stunned Bulbasaur sending it flying backwards about ten feet.
"Alright what the HELL just happened there?" Danny demanded as Squirtle landed winking at him.
"That was rapid spin" Jack explained coolly "it completely removes a leech seed if it makes contact with the target." Squirtle once again winked at Danny who started fuming.
"ALRIGHT THAT'S IT. BULBASAUR VINE WHIP!!!" Danny roared. Bulbasaur started glowing green as one of the vines was easily dodged by Squirtle but the other one struck her on her torso, Squirtle started glowing a shimmering blue.
"Seems that that earlier razor leaf did more than I thought" Jack thought.
"Aqua Jet Squirtle!"
"DOUBLE EDGE!!!" they both shouted at the same time, both Pokémon charged at each other at their maximum speeds and collided causing an explosion that enveloped the battlefield in smoke.
When the smoke cleared the two Pokémon were up staring each other out but panting from exhaustion, this seemed to go on for an eternity until Bulbasaur collapsed.
Squirtle fell backwards seconds later but the result was clear Danny had lost, Jack had won, as he was jumping in joy Danny came up to him and offered his hand.
"Guess I went a bit overboard there huh?"
"Nah" Jack said accepting Danny's hand "I would've done the same thing." Noticing the exausted Pokémon on the floor, said to Danny "Let's heal our Pokémon."
Danny and Jack left their Pokémon with Nurse Joy and went to get some dinner and while waiting for their Pokémon to be healed started talking about what they were going to do next.
"Well I think I will challenge the Gym I need to catch up to Luke" Jack said remembering his friend's gloating phone call.
"I think I will wait a bit before challenging." Before his friend could reply Danny sighed "I just don't think I am ready yet"
After another five minutes of chatting Nurse Joy brought them their Pokémon for the second time today.
"Well" Jack yawned "I am going to bed, see you in the morning" Jack traipsed up the Pokécentre stairs and went to the room he booked earlier. He let Squirtle and Pidgey out of their Pokéballs to congratulate them on a good battle. "You guys were great today" he said stroking both of them.
"You deserve these" he pulled out two Sitrus berries offering them to his Pokémon to which they eagerly ate. Jack then crawled onto the bed, with Squirtle jumping on too, (it won't be sexual) Pidgey slept on the headboard, Jack sighed as he looked at the clock, even though it was only quarter to nine he fell asleep instantly.
Chapter 2iii
Mini recap: Luke Chose Charmander from Oak and was defeated by Jack in battle, he then proceeded with his journey straight away so is a little bit further along his journey than the other two, he has also already got his first badge which resulted in the evolution of his Charmander.
"Go away!" Luke yelled as another Zubat swooped at him, he was getting sick of the constant barrage of Zubats attacking him as he trekked through the deepest part of Mt. Moon, of course he didn't have to travel through the mountain, nowadays the Kanto government supplies cable cars, going over the mountain cutting the normally three hour journey into a simple five minute ride, still he couldn't believe that he decided to go through with this torture, as he thought this his mind wandered back about an hour.
As Luke was about to pay for the cable cars a large man came up behind him laughing.
"Yet another pansy taking the cable cars then eh?" he boomed patting Luke on his head. "When I was a wee lad, we used to have to go through the cave" he said as Luke spun round recognizing the loud voice. Even though Luke knew who it was he was still surprised to see the looming figure of Mr. Clarke, Jack's dad, smiling behind him.
"Hey Mr. Clarke" Luke said "what are you doing here?"
"Well I was waiting for you, Danny and me son!" he shouted unable to speak quietly. "I have something for you." Mr. Clarke reached into his back pocket and pulled out three small slips of paper handing one to Luke.
"These tickets came through the mail for you three" he then looked around before asking "where are Danny and Jack anyway." Luke glanced at the ticket before replying.
"Err... Danny, I think is in the forest and as for Jack well... He might be in Pewter by now." He then read the ticket more thoroughly. "S.S Anne double battle tournament, I wonder what that is"
"The S.S Anne double battle tournament is a tournament held every year in Vermillion city for beginner trainers." Mr. Clarke boomed "If I recall correctly the winner gets a Pokémon egg as a prize."
Luke's eyes lit up at this revelation as he had not been the least bit interested in entering, he did however want to experience what it would be like to hatch an egg as he had heard that it was a very fulfilling experience.
"Well I better head to Pewter to deliver these two" Mr. Clarke yelled as he left.
"Hmm..." Luke thought aloud "I will need to catch a Pokémon for this tournament." he then decided that it would be best to go through Mt. Moon as it would increase his chances of seeing a Pokémon he would consider good enough for him.
As soon as Luke entered the cave he immediately had to let Charmeleon out of it's Pokéball as it was nearly pitch black in there. Having Charmeleon with him had its good points but equally had its bad points, having enough light to see was good and it kept him warm but the wild Zubats who inhabited the cave did not appreciate the light disturbing their home, the wild Zubats dive bombed him at every opportunity.
"I don't like Zubats." Luke thought then remembering why he decided to go through Mt. Moon in the first place. "I wonder what other Pokémon live here" It was at that time another Zubat swooped down for him.
"Go away!" Luke yelled as another Zubat crashed into him, he was beginning to get sick of the swarm of wild Zubats attacking him as he trekked through Mt. Moon. This one however was different, instead of the normal blue color; this Zubat was a rather dull shade of green.
"Oh my god!" Luke squealed not noticing something scurrying behind him. "It's a green Zubat!" Luke knew that alternately colored Pokémon were probably the rarest Pokémon anyone could find. As he sized up the green Zubat and before he could engage it in battle he and Charmeleon were blasted from behind by a plume of stun spore.
Luke started to feel his body locking up as he lost all feeling in his legs and fell backwards fortunately leaning into a wall, before his arms became useless he returned Charmeleon knowing that the stun spore would wear off in twenty minutes, only his eyes and organs worked as he frantically looked around for the user of the stun spore, he didn't have to wait long however, as the culprit revealed itself as a Paras which was crawling over his leg ready to bite him.
"Fuck!" he thought unable to do anything against the Paras, which was trying to find an open spot on his clothes, when the green Zubat rammed it with a wing attack, scaring it off.
"Wow." Luke thought, happy that he wasn't going to be eaten alive. As the Zubat was flitting around, happy with it's victory Luke was starting to get the feeling back in his head. "Thanks Zubat." He mumbled.
The Zubat however wasn't doing this for Jack, she was doing this for herself.
She noticed earlier that Luke couldn't move and she was felling quite hungry, so she flew down and landed on Luke's arm, Luke however thought that the Zubat was just being affectionate so was oblivious to the Zubat's intentions so didn't notice when the Zubat sank her fangs into Luke's arm, drinking his blood.
It was at this time that Luke's arms were regaining feeling and he felt a sharp pain course through his arm, looking down he saw the Zubat, face buried into his arm. Panicking Luke used all of his strength to yank his arm away from the Zubat and then reached for Charmeleon's Pokéball.
Before he could release Charmeleon three cloaked men ran past him shouting at each other.
"What a FUCKING waste of time that was!" one of them shouted causing Zubat to cower next to Luke.
"Well we got these?" another one pointed to the various Pokémon in cages they were carrying
"Well they're all worthless, we nearly got caught by the police and for what" the first one retorted while pointing at the cages.
"Two Fucking Rattatas and a bloody (not bleeding) Spearow." He started pacing backward and forwards. "You know what I didn't sign up for this" he then got up and stormed off leaving the other two guys arguing among their selves.
As they were arguing Luke started to feel some tingling in his legs, he then started to pull himself up.
"He is right, i'm also leaving, I thought that things would be different after Unova but once again it's not happening it's all gonna go wrong." He stormed off leaving the last guy alone with the cowering caged Pokémon.
"Fine, Leave!" The third one yelled after them "When I become rich don't expect any favors from me!" He then began to grab the cages and headed off in the opposite direction.
While this was happening Luke had fully regained control of his body and stepped in front of the guy startling him.
"Who are you and what are you doing with those Pokémon?" Luke demanded pointing at the thief. At first the cloaked man started shaking thinking it was the police but soon felt relieved that it was just a kid.
"Well!" Luke demanded, his rage intensifying. There were only two things in the world that Luke truly hated, Crime and Criminals.
"Move over now kid, unless you want to get hurt." The thief expected his words to intimidate Luke but was surprised when Luke just stood there his eyes filled with rage.
"Why don't you just give me those Pokémon and I will tell the police that you were cooperative?" Luke calmly asked but with a small amount of anger.
"Hah" the thief replied "and just who do you think you are an Officer Jenny"
"No" Luke said chuckling slightly. "Just the son of one." Luke then grabbed a Pokéball, throwing it. "Go Charmeleon"
"Huh a battle then" the thief smiled and grabbed one of his Pokéballs off of his belt releasing a Raticate.
"Use Hyper Fang" the rat Pokémon lunged at Charmeleon with its now extended teeth.
"Charmeleon use dragon rage" Luke calmly commanded as Charmeleon started glowing then released a large mystical fire ball at the oncoming Raticate knocking it back "Now metal claw"
"Ice beam Raticate!" the thief shouted a little worried at the raw power of his opponent. Raticate charged up a small energy ball of ice that sent a long frozen beam at Charmeleon which Charmeleon just deflected easily with its metal claws then proceeded to slash at the defenseless Raticate.
"Your weak" Luke snarled at the thief "you act tough but you're just pathetic, like the petty crook you are."
"You may be stronger" the thief responded "but I am smarter." He then threw another Pokéball into the field from which an Arbok jumped out, hissing at Luke and Charmeleon. "Arbok wrap, Raticate quick attack!"
"Shit, Dodge Charmeleon" Luke was worried now knowing that Charmeleon would eventually become overwhelmed. Charmeleon managed to dodge the quick attack but was then left open to the Arbok's wrap, constricting and crushing him.
"Ember Now" Luke yelled. Charmeleon fired burning embers at the Arbok's face causing it to release him but was then struck by the Raticate's hyper fang causing serious damage.
Luke knew this was bad, Charmeleon couldn't last much longer and he knew that the thief would hurt the helpless Pokémon in the cages if he didn't rescue them. He needed a miracle.
"Giving up then Kid, I don't blame yah" the thief proclaimed triumphantly "but say, that Charmeleon aint half bad, I'll take it. Arbok grab it now" Arbok made for Charmeleon but was struck at the side from a wing attack.
"What the fuck was that!" the thief yelled as Arbok rose up to face it's attacker only to be struck again from behind, this time from a shadow ball.
The mystery attacker then flew into bit of light emanating from a crack in the caves' ceiling revealing itself to be none other than the dark green Zubat.
Zubat then rushed at the Arbok again using another wing attack knocking the Arbok into the wall causing it to faint.
"Arghhhh." the thief yelled as he returned his Arbok "Raticate use hyper fang on that Zubat" Raticate sprung forwards teeth extending as it flew. Zubat had no chance of evading as Raticate came closer.
"Charmeleon, use metal claw!" Luke yelled as Charmeleon jumped in front of Raticate, claws raised and intercepted the Raticate hitting it in the gut, as the Raticate fainted Luke ran up to the thief and grabbed him by his throat pinning him against a wall.
"Alright" he demanded "who are you and who do you work for!"
"We will deal with this now!" A female voice shouted making Luke let go of the criminal. Luke turned around knowing who it was. "Luke! What are you doing here?"
"Hey Mom, Just passing through" Luke replied knowing that she would eventually lecture him so tried to act innocent.
"You know that you should call me for these things, you could have been hurt" Luke's mom shouted as she examined him, she had always told him to let the police handle things like this and not to do it himself.
As the other officers carted the thug away and retrieved the caged Pokémon the Officer Jenny in charge escorted her son out of the cave.
"I am perfectly fine mom stop worrying so much" Luke groaned as his mom started checking him for injuries.
"Well I wouldn't have to if you would stop trying to play 'vigilante' all of the time" she teased knowing Luke's tendency to stop people from committing crimes no matter how petty they were.
"So mom was he part of the 'N' gang you have been searching for?" Luke asked.
"Yes" she replied thinking before continuing "actually he is the second one we have arrested today."
They kept on chatting until they reached the edge of Cerulean City where they split, her heading back to Pewter, and him heading for the Pokécentre. Luke then checked his Pokégear and was shocked at the time.
"I can't believe that it is already two o'clock in the morning, I wonder If Nurse joy is awake." Luke thought as he sighted the Pokécentre. Before he opened the door something green flew into his face knocking him over. It was the Green Zubat from earlier.
"Ow..." Luke said as he stood up holding the bat in his arms "hey, I nearly forgot about you, thanks for earlier, you really helped me out there." The Zubat nuzzled Luke affectionately causing him to blush. Zubat then flew to Luke's belt and tapped one of his empty Pokéballs opening it and allowing herself be captured.
"That was weird" Luke said as he yawned "but I guess I will deal with it in the morning." He then opened the door to the Pokécentre and went in and went straight away towards a sofa. He then lay down and went to sleep almost immediately.Chapter End Notes:Well this is my first 'proper' chapter I enjoyed writing it and I hope that you will enjoy reading it. Reviews are encouraged and I hope to get Chapter 3: The S.S Anne double battle Tournament Up by Wednesday at the earliest or Friday by the latest, Sorry about the Lack of Gym battles so far but don't worry they will come soon. Finally I apologize for the shortness of Luke's mini chapter compared to the other two but there wasn't much more I could fit into Mt. Moon.
Can I just also Add that my love affair with Formula One has been rekindled after what I can say was the greatest race that I have seen in a loooooong time, well done Jenson Button what a win. If you didn't see the race he won pitting six times, hitting two other drivers, starting seventh then ending up last before driving through to the lead
