Chapter 3i: Jack.

"You'd think that she would know better than to wear white on the bride's big day." David joked as he examined the murder victim.

'A dame was dead, but enough about her.' I thought as I walked through an archway to the main area of the wedding, 'The air was hot and heavy with wrong making me thirsty, thirsty for a tall drink of water.' I continued walking looking at the fake flowers that lined the archway. 'And that's when I saw her, a flower but not the kind you'd clip on a lapel. She was long stemmed... wait a minute, this is CSI Crime scene investigation.

Sorry about that I do not know what happened there, anyway back to Jack's chapter.

"Come on Squirtle hurry up and finish" Jack pleaded with Squirtle. "Come on, Pidgey already finished five minutes ago."(Is it me or does this bit sound like a sex scene?)

Jack was jumping up and down waiting for Squirtle to finish her breakfast. Squirtle however was quite stubborn when it came to her food and would not rush, in fact she considered that Jack should be honored to wait for her as she won a battle yesterday. Jack noticed this new personality trait in Squirtle and was puzzled, not really liking it but was happy when Squirtle reached for her last bit of food and placed it in her mouth slowly chewing it. After this Squirtle reverted back to her normal jolly self and was excitedly dancing, knowing that today was going to be the first time she would participate in a gym battle.

"Finally finished, hey, Squirtle calm down!" Jack was trying and failing to catch Squirtle as she bounced around the room, Jack had told her over breakfast that the first gym that they would face would be a rock type gym and, as Jack has repeated to her over and over again 'water types are a good matchup for the rock type.' Squirtle of course was feeling very confident. She had already participated in three battles already and had won all three.

There was the battle against Luke's Charmander which she won quite easily, the battle against her now friend Pidgey which, other than a few hairy moments, she won without breaking a sweat. Finally there was the battle against Danny's Bulbasaur which was a particularly sweet victory for her as it involved a disadvantage and, Squirtle was especially proud of this fact, she had improvised a few moves to secure victory.

"Gotcha'!" Jack yelled as he grabbed Squirtle by her shell. "We've got to come up with a winning strat-blargghh!" Jack was cut off as Squirtle fired a stream of water at Jack's face, she had set up this chase game just so she could show off her new move, she was weird like that.

"Why did you do that Squirt-" Jack was cut off as he realized what had just happened. "Hey, you learned water gun, didn't you?" Squirtle nodded as Jack put her down. "Victory is now a certainty." Jack then noticed that Pidgey was eying him as he also wanted attention, Jack walked over to Pidgey and started stroking his head. Pidgey responded by chirping frantically, enjoying his trainer's attention "You know that I can't use you in the battle later, you just wouldn't be able to beat rock types." Jack said as he tickled Pidgey's belly. Pidgey nodded at his trainer's words, even though he had just met him and he was a little childish at times, he seemed to know what he was talking about when it came to battles.

Jack made his way downstairs and enjoyed seeing the fast paced atmosphere of the Pokécentre, even though it was eight o'clock the centre was busy with various trainers doing various things. There were the inexperienced trainers, they were panicking about their Pokémon being clipped with a tackle from a weak wild Pokémon, or they sneezed once and that means that the Pokémon was dying of the plague. Then there were the experienced trainers who were trying to come up with new strategies to win in gyms, or they were bragging about what rare Pokémon they managed to catch.

Jack exited the centre to the historic sites that Pewter city provided, tall rock formations surrounded the various buildings with cobblestone pathways connecting each of them, the museum at the head of the city was visible at the top of a large stone staircase, a few people were sat on the stairs enjoying their breakfast as the children ran around chasing the bird Pokémon who were scavenging the leftovers that the people left behind. The gym was located just to the left of the museum, it had a long stone path with statues of various rock type Pokémon casting an intimidating figure along the way.

Jack walked towards the large stone door but before Jack could open the door it slammed open knocking him back. A guy about the same size as Jack wandered out and noticed Jack on the floor.

"There you are." The guy said as he offered his hand. "I thought I missed you."

"Oh, hey Danny" Jack said as he grabbed Danny's arm pulling himself up. "I thought you weren't challenging the gym yet?" As Jack said this Danny offered him a small piece of paper.

"I was looking for you, your dad told me to give you this" Danny then explained what it was.

"Are you going to enter?" Jack asked excited about the prize. "I really want that egg"

"Me too, I am heading there now through Digletts cave." Danny explained. The guys then bid each other farewell with Danny wishing Jack luck for his battle.

Jack then entered the gym to the reception area where a bored looking guy was reading a comic he had spiky brown hair and eyes that seemed closed like a Cyndaquil's. He then explained that the Pewter Gym rules were a one versus one and that the gyms across Kanto used a system that had difficulty settings depending on the amount of badges that the challenger had. Since Jack had no badges he would be facing the easiest of the gym leader's Pokémon.

"Also" he added "My brother doesn't lose often but please beat him."

"Why?" Jack asked puzzled by this outburst. They entered a holding area where the names of winning challengers were carved on a big stone tablet.

"Because if my brother loses one more time he has promised that I get the gym." The receptionist replied leaving Jack in the holding room. Jack wandered over to the tablet looking for Luke's name. As he scanned it he recognized the names of some familiar and famous trainers, there was Red, Blue, Gold, Luke and the last one which was at the top of the list, Jack Clarke. That name triggered a series of weird emotions for Jack as it was his fathers. Jack then picked up his Squirtle's pokéball and then held it close to his lips (I know what you're thinking and it is disgusting) before whispering to it.

"We can do this Squirtle" Jack then composed himself and waited to be beckoned.

As Jack entered the main battle arena he was greeted by a sea of grey, the battle field was made out of stone with several large rocks littering the floor. Four big rocks towered in the corners of the arena, there was a balcony on the opposite side where several teenagers with spiky brown hair and eyes that seemed closed were watching him intently, there were also some spectators some of which Jack recognized from wandering the city. The receptionist had made his way to the podium in front of Jack and directed him towards the left side of the room where there was a platform that overlooked the battlefield. Opposite of which there was a guy with spiky brown hair and the same closed eyes.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Pewter city gym." the receptionist shouted in a microphone "My name is Forrest and I will be the referee, the battle will be a one on one battle between the challenger, Jack Clarke from Viridian city" Forrest pointed at Jack as he said this and was met with a mixture of clapping from the spectators and boos from the teenagers. Forrest then pointed at the other guy and shouted "Jack will be facing Brock, the leader of the Pewter city gym." As Forrest shouted this Brock was met with wild applause and cheering from the teenagers, who by now Jack had figured that they were his family.

"Begin!!!" Forrest shouted as both Brock and Jack threw their pokéballs at the same time releasing Geodude and Squirtle respectively.

"It is customary that the challenger makes the first move" Brock instructed.

"I'll be glad to, Squirtle water gun!" Jack commanded. Squirtle inhaled sharply releasing a forceful jet of water at Geodude.

"Dodge Geodude!" Brock commanded. Geodude dodged by floating upwards. "Now use sunny day." Geodude then created two orbs of intense white light in it's hands, joined them together and threw them skywards creating an artificial sun resulting in intense heat which started affecting Squirtle.

"Squirtle aqua jet!" Jack yelled knowing that this would cool Squirtle down, making her more comfortable for the battle, what Jack didn't know though, was how prepared Brock was for fighting water Pokémon and was shocked at the move he used next.

"Geodude, use thunderpunch!" Brock shouted. Geodude charged it's fist with electricity and struck Squirtle head on stopping her attack dead, sending her flying backwards and into a large rock.

"Shit." Jack thought as he wondered what else Brock had under his sleeve. "Squirtle water gun now." Jack commanded, Squirtle once again shot a jet of water at Geodude, this looked to be a good move as it was too late for Geodude to evade.

"Flamethrower" Brock calmly ordered, Geodude let loose a long stream of fire out of it's mouth and with the added power the sun provided, it completely engulfed and evaporated the water gun striking Squirtle surrounding her with fire. Before Jack could retaliate, Brock ordered another thunderpunch which, combined with the flames surrounding Squirtle, caused an explosion sending Squirtle flying towards her trainer.

Jack was losing badly, he hadn't even scored a hit on Geodude yet, he was even starting to lose confidence in his abilities. Squirtle could sense her trainer's feelings and, even though she was quite tired from the battle, she shot a determined look towards Jack as if saying 'come on, we can do this.' This immediately snapped Jack back to normal, It was just what he needed as he thought of a strategy.

"Geodude use rollout" Brock said not giving Jack any time to think, Geodude started to roll rapidly towards Squirtle, Jack had to think fast.

"Squirtle use water gun to the ground" Squirtle, although a little perplexed with her trainer's weird command, did as she was instructed and fired a jet of water beneath her which made her rise upwards towards the ceiling. Geodude kept rolling towards where Squirtle was and slipped on the puddle that had formed there. While Squirtle was in the air Jack thought that this would be a good opportunity to launch a counter attack. "Now use aqua jet" he yelled. Squirtle once again surrounded herself with water and charged towards Geodude like a bullet.

"Geodude dodge." Brock yelled. Geodude tried to dodge but was hit by the aqua jet causing a significant amount of damage. Squirtle then landed once again near Jack and looked at him as if saying 'let's finish this.' Squirtle then looked over at Brock and winked. This seemed to have an effect on Brock who started clenching his fists. Jack however still knew that the battle wasn't over by a long shot and he knew how he was going to win, he needed to get rid of that sun and he knew how he was going to do it.

"Squirtle rapid spin." Jack commanded he was trying to tempt Brock into using rollout again. Squirtle started spinning towards Geodude.

"Geodude use thunderpunch!" Brock ordered, this however was exactly what Jack wanted.

"Squirtle use water gun!" Jack shouted. Squirtle stopped spinning and aimed the water gun at the oncoming Geodude who, as Jack predicted, was ordered to dodge.

"Geodude use rollout." Brock yelled getting annoyed at Jack's weird tactics. Geodude once again started to roll towards Squirtle who had a feeling about what Jack was about to say, Jack once again told Squirtle to use water gun on the ground which sent her skywards. Jack then knew what Brock was about to say before he said it.

"Geodude dodge the water then use flamethrower" Brock shouted, unaware that he had fallen right into Jack's trap. Geodude rolled around the slippery ground and fired a flamethrower at the now airborne Squirtle.

"That is what I was waiting for" Jack proclaimed as the flamethrower started to close in on Squirtle. Brock looked at Squirtle and then it dawned on him, Squirtle was right in front of the artificial sun. "Squirtle use water gun on the ceiling!" Jack shouted. Squirtle aimed it's water gun at the ceiling, the force of the attack caused Squirtle to shoot downwards avoiding the flamethrower which hit the artificial sun making it explode, covering the battle field in smoke.

"Squirtle use water gun" Jack ordered.

"Geodude try and see Squirtle" Brock ordered, shaken by what had just happened. Geodude looked around frantically for the source of the oncoming attack but it was too late, the attack struck Geodude hard slamming it into some rocks.

Once the smoke cleared Squirtle was standing, arms crossed, right in front of Jack, Geodude on the other hand was lay on the ground, out cold.

"YES!!! We did it!!!" Jack yelled as Squirtle jumped into his arms. Jack hugged Squirtle knowing that once again she saved him in the battle, Squirtle nuzzled Jack blushing from the hug.

"That was a very good battle, you did good to get rid of my sun." Brock said making Jack jump, "meet me at the front to get your badge." He then wandered off leaving Jack to face his siblings.

After ten minutes of being verbally abused by Brock's siblings, Jack managed to make his way to the reception of the gym where Brock and Forrest were chatting, they stopped as soon as they saw him and Brock was holding a small grey badge.

"This is the boulderbadge" Brock explained adding. "This badge as I understand is your first so I will explain what happens, with badges you will receive prize money from the Pokémon league, when you get eight badges you will then be able to enter the Pokémon league." Brock then grabbed a bag off of the floor. "Anyway once again congratulations."

"Does this mean that I finally get the gym Brock?" Forrest asked.

"Yes, yes I want to follow my dream now anyway." Brock replied before explaining to a puzzled Jack. "You see I am going to open a day care centre in Saffron city, I trust that you will drop by, if you're nearby of course." Jack, with Squirtle in his arms, then exited the gym to the now very warm Pewter city.

"Well Squirtle." Jack said looking down at Squirtle. "Let's get going to Vermillion, we've got an egg to win."

"Squirtle Squirt" Squirtle giggled.

Chapter 3ii: Luke

"Why are ships coming out of the base?" Slippy asked, I had to admit it was a little suspicious, I mean Fischina isn't really a profitable planet to conquer it's just a ball of ice and snow however, we soon got our answer.

"A bomb has been planted at the base" Our reliable mother ship pilot ROB64 said. This worried me It was pretty obvious that Andross had planned this from the beginning, the invasion on the planet was bait that we were too stupid to resist however, we had already defeated most of his forced from the base so this was going to be easy.

"Geez" I said "can somebody take care of it" I expected our tech wizard Slippy to handle this threat while we mopped up the rest of the enemy ships. Then came the voice I did not want to hear."

"Can't let you do that, Star Fox!" The voice was sinister and very English, I immediately recognized it as my nemesis Wolf 'O' Donnel, leader of the notorious space pirates, Star Wolf, the anti Star Fox. He instantly started chasing me, trying to shoot me down.

"Andross has ordered us to take you down." This voice was deep and very sinister, this could only be Leon Powalski. Falco was the target for him, although I never did fully understand why Leon hated Falco so much, I always suspected it was probably something to do with Leon being gay.

"Peppy! Long time no see!" This third squealing voice filled me up with a lot of anger, this was Pigma Dengar originally part of the original elite Star Fox squadron with my father and Peppy, that was until he betrayed them both to the evil scientist Andross. Even though I wanted to take him down I knew that Peppy needed this to be his battle.

"Andross' enemy is my enemy!" The final voice said. This was unmistakingly Andrew Oikonny, the nephew of Andross, I didn't really care much for Andrew as he was the least talented pilot of Star Wolf and never really posed a threat, he always seemed to go for Slippy, probably, and I mean no offence to Slippy about this, as Slippy was the least talented member of our team.

I quickly did a somersault, as Peppy had constantly reminded me about, to get behind Wolf who was stunned by this move... hey, hey wait a minute not again goddammit back to the story.

"Gyarados use aqua tail!" A red-headed girl shouted, she was wearing a light blue swimming costume with a large red jacket covering most of it. Gyarados slammed it's large water covered tail at Charmeleon.

"Charmeleon dodge then use dragon rage" Luke yelled, panic was starting to make its way into his voice. Charmeleon jumped from one of the many pontoons that floated on the surface of the water covered gym, avoiding the attack, then Charmeleon launched a large mystical fire ball at the large sea snake causing it to fall backwards, the Gyarados was struggling to get up, Luke noticed this and ordered a quick metal claw to finish it off. Charmeleon started to jump from pontoon to pontoon it's claws started turning metallic as he closed in on the Gyarados.

"Gyarados use hyper beam!" The girl ordered hoping that her Gyarados would be able to get up, she needn't of worried though as the large sea snake rose high up and shot a large thick beam of orange energy at Charmeleon hitting him and sending him flying towards the water.

"Charmeleon return." Luke said, sadness had now replaced the panic from earlier, Luke knew that the battle was over even if Charmeleon would have survived the attack as he had already lost his Zubat earlier in the battle, as he started to head towards the exit he knew that the loss was all his fault, he demanded to the receptionist that he would only face his opponent's best Pokémon. As Luke left the building his opponent stopped him.

"Look." She started. "I'm sorry about that my sister told me that you had seven badges, so I didn't mean to use my Gyarados." She then fumbled around in her pocket for something. "Here take this." She held out a small blue teardrop shaped object but was surprised when Luke pushed back her hand.

"It's not your sister's fault." Luke then stopped to take a deep breath before adding "it's mine I practically forced her to make sure you battled me with your best, I especially do not deserve that Misty" he pointed to the badge. Misty was shocked at this revelation but kept her thoughts to herself.

"Look why don't we have a rematch tomorrow?" Misty suggested. "I'll use my weaker Pokémon."

"No, that would not be fair to me, you, or our Pokémon." Luke replied shocking Misty, "I will battle you when I am ready." Luke then grabbed her hand and looked into her eyes. "I promise." Luke then set off for the Pokémon centre leaving Misty standing there blushing at what Luke had said.

"Well I do have a thing for younger men" She said aloud to herself before heading back into her gym.

After ten minutes of waiting at the Pokécentre Luke's Pokémon were fully healed, they were completely apologetic to Luke but Luke was having none of it, he insisted that it was entirely his fault. He then left the centre with his green Zubat resting on his head.

"Like it up there?" Luke asked smiling a little, Zubat nodded. "Well I think it's high time we headed to Vermillion city, the guys will be there." Zubat then dangled down his face confused. "Okay, okay, I'll tell you about them, now please get off of my face, I can't see a thing." Luke started to describe his friends as they walked out of Cerulean city. The path they were on eventually changed from industrialized city to a more grassy setting.

"This is nice" thought Luke, he enjoyed the country more than cities as there were no one around to annoy him. The route path was located a mere few meters away from a long river, many Yanma flew across, there were also the unmistakable sound of Magikarp flopping about. The sounds of bird Pokémon filled the air Luke noticed a Pidgeot flying in circles above the river, Luke knew what was about to happen, the Pidgeot tucked in it's wings and flew downwards, the odd thing was that Luke saw the Pidgeot as a blur as hit the water and then saw it fly upwards holding a Magikarp, then he heard a splash.

"Wow, that must have been the Pidgeot's max speed." Luke thought impressed, Zubat by now had fallen asleep on Luke's head, Luke nudged her awake as he had spotted a small cafe. It was a small cottage like place with a small berry garden surrounding it. Luke read the sign on the door informing people that Pokémon were welcome, he released his Charmeleon and entered the cafe. It was defiantly an old fashioned place, there were small paintings of Pokémon hanging on the floral wallpaper. Luke walked up to the counter and ordered a few slices of toast and three glasses of lemonade. He then chose a table and sat waiting for his order, as he waited he noticed a few people with Pokémon sitting and eating while discussing battle tactics, there was one trainer in particular who caught his eye.

She was a blonde haired young trainer, not much older than Luke, she was wearing a yellow T-shirt with her black jacket draped over her seat, Luke could see that she was wearing a knee length yellow skirt with long white socks and small black shoes, Luke couldn't help but think that she wore clothes that looked like they belonged a small child, she sat with a Clefairy, an Eevee and a Jigglypuff but seemed to be scolding at the Eevee, Luke started to eavesdrop.

"You have been completely useless, why can't you just win a battle." She said while pointing at the poor Pokémon who had its head down. "I have half a mind to release you." This started to make the Eevee cry as the girl returned it. She then got up and left. Luke was watching her but was distracted as his food had arrived, there were five pieces of toast with three glasses of lemonade, each with straws and ice, Luke then offered each of his Pokémon a glass and a piece of toast, this surprised the Pokémon as they were expecting boring old Pokémon food, they looked at each other nervously before Charmeleon slowly reached out and took a small bite expecting nothing special, he was however surprised at the nice taste that filled his mouth, (don't even start) Zubat then started to nibble on the sides of the toast smiling as she also liked the taste. (Really don't start) They all ate while Luke started to describe himself to his Pokémon. They also drank the lemonade which Zubat absolutely loved.

Luke then paid the bill before leaving with the last piece of toast, both Charmeleon and Zubat were trying to get Luke to give them it, Charmeleon then tripped over a small brown ball.

"Hey, are you okay?" Luke asked helping Charmeleon up. Charmeleon started pointing frantically at the brown ball. Luke walked up to the ball and knelt beside it, he could see that it was breathing so he poked it. "Hello, anybody home?" Luke again asked, his continuous pokes and speech finally caused the ball to stir, this made Luke fall backwards as the ball began to uncurl revealing itself to be an Eevee, except this Eevee had damp streaks down its eyes, the Eevee then sniffed Luke before backing away slowly.

"Hey, hey, hey, (LISTEN) you don't have to fear me." Luke said making sure to keep his voice as soft and as quiet as he could. He then offered the last piece of toast to Eevee which, to the dismay of Charmeleon and Zubat, ate it down hungrily. "There doesn't that taste good." The Eevee nodded happily. Now that the Eevee had calmed down Luke could see that it was a little thin and was missing patches of fur on it's side.

"Oh my god" Luke said while picking the Eevee up. (HA I will never use the phrase 'Oh my Pokémon number four hundred and ninety three') "What has happened to you? We have got to get to a Pokémon Centre and quickly." The Eevee nodded happily knowing what a Pokémon Centre was, Luke examined the Eevee with his Pokédex checking it's current health, he then checked it's gender, male, after being satisfied that Eevee would be alright to make it to the Pokémon centre outside of a Pokéball Luke decided to head south to Saffron city first, before heading to Vermillion, with Eevee in his arms. Zubat was a little jealous of the attention that Eevee was receiving so she roosted on his head, Charmeleon however stayed out front as if expecting something to happen. Before, while Luke was helping Eevee, Charmeleon had sensed that someone was watching.

"Eevee..." The Eevee moaned (NO! NO! NO!) albeit a little weakly. Luke started to up his pace sensing the Eevee's weakened state. They then saw a building on the horizon.

"Finally, maybe they can help us." Luke yelled as they ran towards it. The building was average sized but had a massive fenced field that was nearly completely flat apart from some rocks and flowers that littered it. They reached the door but Luke was left annoyed by the sign on the door. 'Future sight (not the move) of Brock's daycare centre.'

"Shit!" Luke swore as he punched the sign, breaking it into many pieces. Luke took a minute to calm down before saying to his Pokémon and Eevee. "Sorry about that, well we aren't that far from Saffron now anyway." Luke could see the outskirts of Saffron city with it's famous skyscrapers, Luke knew that Saffron and Goldenrod city had been having a building race to see who could build the most impressive city. Suddenly Charmeleon started growling. "Hey what's up wit-" Luke was cut short by the sight of a very angry looking girl.

"Give me back my Eevee!" She shouted, Luke immediately recognized her as the girl from the cafe but she was a little different from before, instead of wearing the childish clothes from before she was wearing a purple T-shirt with long black jeans but she was wearing that same black jacket.

"Your Eevee?" Jack asked a little puzzled. "This Eevee was wild when I found him." Eevee began cowering as the girl advanced upon him. "STOP!" Luke roared causing the girl to jump backwards. "This Eevee is obviously scared of you." Scared by Luke's sudden outburst Eevee jumped out of Luke's arm and started running towards Saffron city.

"Hey come back," the girl yelled running after the Eevee. "I need to sell you." Luke panicked when he heard this, he immediately sent Zubat out to go and look for Eevee before giving chase to the girl. Luke entered Saffron city just ahead of the girl. The girl then entered the city she cursed her luck, she had wanted to sell the Eevee as they were quite rare.

"I. Knew. I. Would. Find. You. Here. If. I. Arrived. First." said Luke as he panted from exhaustion "now... who are... you." The girl tried to run away again but was stopped by Charmeleon.

"Alright, alright." she said before sitting down on a nearby bench. "I'm Lori. From Lavender town." She added noticing Luke's angry staring eyes. Then before Luke could ask the question. "Don't judge me, the demand for Eevees is very high right now, well not for me, I don't want to sell it, Its for my sister, that Eevee was hers." This shocked Luke but at the same time made him understand, the reason why the girl had changed her clothes was because she was a different person.

"I am Luke Jenny, I know weird name." As Luke was about to question Lori about her sister Zubat flew past him.

"So you've found where Eevee went." Luke was relieved, he then let Zubat fly toward where she saw Eevee. "Don't worry Eevee, I'll save ya."

"I'm coming too!" Lori yelled after Luke. When she was level with him she noticed the angry expression on his face. "No I am not going to take him, I just want to help."

Chapter 3iii: Danny

"Five minutes Mr. Moss" the studio tech said as he walked past my dressing room doorway. I nodded at him.

"Thanks Phil." I then sat down and pulled the little biscuit container towards myself before taking one.

"A fan of tiny biscuits, you are full of surprises." A strange voice said, I Iooked up to see a strange owner to that strange voice, now I am not what you would exactly call normal as I am a self proclaimed IT geek. But this guy was on another level. He wore a long black trench coat with black trousers and black shoes, he also had black sunglasses on and had black hair. He then held out his hand saying.

"Please, don't let me stop you. I like a man with appetite. It's what got you this far." I shook my head, a little confused before asking.

"Sorry, do I know you?"

"They call me prime, I had another name once. I no longer go by it, Harold Tong." I took a bite out of my biscuit before shrugging not knowing who he was. "That's right, I won year sixteen of countdown. Yes it was I who won the sixteenth countdown teapot, the teapot we all crave, you crave it too." I then shook my head. "Your eyes betray you." Once again I shook my head, before adding.

"Uh-huh." He then laughed loudly before speaking again.

"He has spirit this one." He then became serious again. "But do you have the spirit... Hey wait a minute I have done it for a third time, why can't I concentrate. Back to the story... hopefully...

"Thank you for coming to the sermon." The old man at the podium said, he was an odd looking man who wore dark circular sunglasses and a long white lab coat, he was also bald which Danny couldn't help but to stifle a laugh. Danny walked up to him and introduced himself.

"Hi I'm Danny, I am so sorry for your loss" The man accepted his hand before replying.

"I am Blaine, Leader of the Cinnabar island Gym and thank you." He sighed before adding. "Fuji was a good friend but alas what can you do. He died while taking care of Pokémon so he should be happy." He said while pointing to the sky. "Say are you a trainer by any chance?" Danny was stunned by this question as he was now expecting to be challenged to a battle.

"Umm... uh... err... yeah" Sure Danny had won a few battles in his travels but having lost to Jack in Pewter city he felt that he just wasn't ready to battle a gym leader. "Please don't battle me."

"Danny I wasn't offering to have a battle." Blaine began before asking. "But you seem to have some potential, although maybe lacking a little in confidence. I know, why don't you come to Cinnabar island with me, I will train you." Danny thought about Blaine's offer before remembering that he had a tournament to get to tomorrow.

"Sorry I can't, I have a tournament tomorrow." Danny said a little dejected, he knew that Blaine was a formidable gym leader and could've taught him a lot. "Maybe, I could come after?"

"Grand idea, this will give me a chance to measure your skills, let's get going now." Blaine said getting excited.

"Okay, oh but wait I need to retrieve my Pokémon from my Aunt Joy." Danny said before setting off to the Pokécentre. Lavender town was a beautifully planned out little town with trees separating the pedestrian walkways from the small road which, by other places standards, was practically deserted, several small city Pokémon ran around on the road probably knowing that traffic was rare. The only thing that Danny didn't like about the town was the Radio tower, it added a modern blotch on the map look on the otherwise perfectly traditional town. As Danny passed the now moved graveyard he decided that it would be in his best interest to pay his respects to a close friend, he entered the cemetery and was greeted by a somber atmosphere which he felt was just right. He then walked up to a grave that he recognized and knelt beside it.

"I will never forget you Natalie." Danny said softly while placing his hand on the grave. The grave itself wasn't an especially lavish one which Danny thought suited Natalie's personality, it had an inscription which read. 'Here lies Natalie, the Chansey, a beloved friend and hero to the King-Joy family, we will always miss you.' then at the bottom was a small carved 'thank you Natalie.' Normally graffiti on a grave was the lowest thing anyone could do but Danny was the culprit as he wanted to say thank you one last time. As Danny ran his fingers over his carved words he couldn't help but remember what had happened that night thirteen years ago... ago... ago...

*Flashback*

There was a loud bang which immediately woke Danny, then five years old, he quickly opened his door to see what had happened. As he wandered out of his room and into the hallway he was quickly ushered back into his room by his mom. As Danny sat in his room he could hear muffled voices downstairs followed by shouting as the intruders confronted his parents. Danny could then here a stampede of trainers, who were staying there, outside of his door. The noise of the trainers caught Danny's curiosity and he quickly forgot about his mothers words and ventured outside. Danny was walking to the top of the stairs and the muffled voices were becoming clearer.

"...ut... th... keballs... in the bag. Now!" The voice yelled becoming clearer with every step that Danny took. "Or else we will hurt your Chansey". Danny then edged to the gap in the stairs so that he could see what was going on, what he saw was two men dressed in black with big blood red 'R's on their shirts, one of them had a Cacturne out which was holding back the Chansey with it's spiky arm. Danny knew what to do in these situations as he was always taught by his aunt Jenny, (Not blood aunt just a friend of the family,) to call her if there was any trouble. Danny made his way over to the phone before dialing the emergency number he had scratched onto the wall next to the phone. It rang three times before a woman answered.

"He... hello." A very tired sounding voice said, it yawned before asking who it was. Danny started speaking but he was interrupted. "Danny, is that you, do you know what time it is?"

"Yes, its three, five six." Danny replied not knowing how to properly tell time yet, before adding. "Some bad people have got Natalie, please help me Aunt Jenny." Danny started crying, although quietly.

"Danny I will be right over, go hide somewhere and quick." Officer Jenny ordered. Danny then hung up the phone, as he was running for a place to hide he tripped and fell crashing on the floor, out cold.

Danny woke up in a daze and saw that he was being held by one of the bad men while the other one was collecting Pokéballs from the trainers and the vault. They still had Natalie in the Cacturne's grasp so the trainers couldn't do anything for fear of Natalie getting hurt.

"Natalie..." Danny groaned while starting to struggle from the guys grasp. Danny was quickly quieted as the guy holding him motioned for his Cacturne to tighten its grasp. Danny then heard the doors open and looked around hoping it was his aunt Jenny. It wasn't, It was another guy wearing a black shirt with the 'R' he had green hair and looked very evil. He motioned for Danny and the guy holding him obliged and put him down, standing, in front of the new guy.

"Hey there," He said in a kind voice but Danny could sense the evil intentions in the voice. "Why don't you come with us, I bet you would make a fine Team Rocket member." Danny's mother screamed at this point for the guy to get away from him.

"I don't want to." Danny protested but the green haired rocket member (That isn't a euphemism, is it.) grabbed his arm. Danny however had learned how to defend himself from attackers. Using all of the training his sensei had taught him he focused all of his energy for this one sure-fire attack, it was an attack he had spent hours perfecting (insert training montage preferably involving a mountain and the 'eye of the tiger' music), his sensei had told him he was only to use this when he knew he was in danger.

Danny kicked the bad man as hard as he could right in the nuts. (What, were you expecting a 'hadoken') Then he ran towards his parents not knowing that the green haired man had sent out an Arbok.

"Arbok, kill him, use poison sting" He yelled. The Arbok fired a barrage of poison needles at Danny as he was running. This triggered an instinct in Natalie that she had never felt before, she had been by Danny's side ever since he was born, she loved him like mother loves a child and now that her 'child' was in danger, she found herself having extra strength, she quickly knocked out the Cacturne with a focus punch before charging at Danny, she lunged, knocking Danny out of the range off the attack but getting hit by it herself. Before the team rocket trio could do anything else sirens were heard approaching the Pokémon centre.

"Shit! Let's get out of here, forget the Pokéballs, forget the mission." The green haired one yelled. They managed to escape buy Danny didn't care. All he wanted to do was to hug Natalie who was breathing rapidly, Danny's mother had now made her way over to try to save Natalie but to no avail, the poison was lethal, the Arbok had used it's Poison sting with the intention to kill. Danny started crying as Natalie's breathing became weaker, she stroked Danny's head before bringing him closer, she then offered Danny a bite off her egg, which he accepted. Soon after biting the egg Danny started to feel Drowzee. (Boom, Pokepun number two)

"Please don't die Natalie." Danny cried as the Chansey's eyes closed, her body becoming lifeless. "Natalie... Natalie... Natalie..."

*end of the flashback*

Danny and Blaine arrived in Vermillion city rather quickly, they didn't talk much on the way but Blaine sensed that there was something wrong that Danny just didn't want to talk about.

"I have got some things I need to attend to, so I will see you tomorrow okay." Blaine said. Danny watched as Blaine headed for the Gym. Now that Blaine was gone, Danny started to notice what a nice place Vermilion city was. The air smelled salty from the nearby sea, with a massive boat to his right, Danny thought that that must be the S.S Anne where he would be battling tomorrow, there were numerous buildings along the shoreline but there was one building that caught Danny's eye. It was a semi-constructed building and as Danny got closer to it he could see several Machoke and Machamp carrying building supplies. Danny then was approached by an elderly man wearing a hard hat.

"Beauty isn't she, eh." He said as he surveyed the structure. "I have had this land for about fifteen years now but no money to build." He then got a tear in his eye before continuing. "But about a month ago some rich guy invested in me, so now I can fulfill my lifelong ambition to have actually built a skyscraper." Danny had to quickly say goodbye as he saw something in the distance that troubled him. On the other side of the building site Danny could see a small brown fur ball being chased by a pack of Mightyena.

The fur ball was running for it's life, it thought to itself, 'why did I leave that nice man' it kept on running until it was cornered, the three Mightyenas started edging closer to it, snarling as they got ready to strike. One of the Mightyenas jumped, fangs bared, the little fur ball just stood still, waiting for the attack.

"Bulbasaur use vine whip!" A voice yelled, two long vines grabbed the Mightyena stopping it mere inches away from the fur ball's neck. Then the vines lifted the Mightyena in the air, they then let go causing it to slam into the ground, the other two Mightyenas then turned to face the mystery attacker, it was Danny, he was standing with his Bulbasaur and Mankey, ready for a fight. As the two Mightyena were preoccupied with Danny's two Pokémon the third one managed to stand up. It saw that Danny was more focused on the other two battles so it decided that this would be the best time to strike, it leapt, knowing that it would succeed in hurting the human. Danny heard the snarls of the Mightyena but was too late, it had already bit his arm and floored him. It then went for his neck.

"Pidgey, quick attack!" A familiar voice yelled, the tiny pigeon Pokémon crashed into the Mightyena causing it to fall off of Danny. The Mightyena now along with the other two, who had quickly defeated Danny's other two Pokémon, now joined forces ready to tackle this new threat but he was not alone.

"Go Onix." Danny didn't recognize this gravelly voice but was grateful when he saw a giant rock snake between him and the Mightyenas. While the two new people were dealing with the Mightyenas, Danny decided to return his Pokémon, as he had an injury it took him several tries to return them, when he put the balls back onto his belt he knocked a spare one off of it, the Pokéball started to roll towards the now shivering fur ball encasing it in a harsh red light. Danny didn't have time to celebrate the achievement as he started to lose consciousness...
Chapter End Notes:Whew, sorry about the delay but y'know, coursework has to take full priority, (I am nineteen before you ask) anyway I am still not completely happy with Jack's chapter it just doesn't work for me, I must've rewritten it about three times.
So anyway, what will happen to Danny? What was that fur ball? Who were the mystery helpers that saved Danny? And why did I use T.V and video game references at the start of each chapter? (can you guess what they are?)
These questions as well as many more will be answered in the next exciting episode of, Dragon Ball Z
