First Kiss and a Misunderstanding

"Master, wake up," A voice echoed inside his head.

"Go away! Sleeping."

"But it's very urgent," The voice was now a bit shaky.

Hiroshi tried to force himself to sleep but her shakes and her voice seemed to keep him from doing so. His irritation, combined with inability to sleep now that he was awake, soon exploded.

"WHAT?! WHAT?! WHAAAAAAAAAT?!?!" He yelled angrily, before looking over to the side of his bed.
There was a girl by his bedside, sitting in a formal position. She had yellow hair and violet eyes.
She wore a white kimono with a red sash on her waist. She seemed like a normal girl but what set her aside were her non-human features. She had long, pointed ears her tails were bushy, just like a fox's. However, the thing that really surprised him was that she has nine tails instead of the usual one.

"Master, we have to forge the contract now!"

"What contract?"

"You summoned me in your sleep."

"I see, but how can we seal the contract?"

"We have to exchange some sort of body fluid with each other," She stood up, bent over a nearby table and raised her kimono, showing her panties.

Hiroshi's heart fluttered at the quick turn of events. His thoughts began to race and he felt uncertain on what to do. His past seriously traumatized him and he swore that he would never accept a girl again.
However, as the circumstances appeared, he accidentally summoned a girl in his sleep.

"How did I manage to summon a girl at this time of night?" He thought to himself while trying to determine how exactly he got in this predicament. He was only interrupted by the girl's sweet voice calling to him sultrily.

"Please, be gentle with me."

"What am I going to do?! I don't want to lose my virginity! Not now! I want to remain a virgin forever! She's cute, though. Ahh! I can't think!" His thoughts raced through his head until he snapped back to reality when the girl suddenly crept closer to him, pressing her hands to his chest.

"Hurry up, master, or else I'll disappear."

At that time, he couldn't think straight. "B-b-but..." He soon had no doubts after she kissed him gently on the lips.

"What the-!" Hiroshi gasped as he pulled back, dazed and surprised.

The girl stood in front of him, her arms outstretched to him as numerous spell circles rotated around the two.
The text seemed to resemble a certain dead language, but it was unique to an extent.

"You, Hiroshi, have sworn to take care of me,"
She spoke in a divine voice. "As said in the contract, I shall provide services as requested by you, my master. As proof of our contract, you shall be endowed with a mark which will set you apart from the other people. You are unique among others in that you are able to form a contract with a goddess."

As soon as she finished speaking, the light faded as she lost consciousness.
She fainted towards the bed as a strange symbol appeared on her neck. Hiroshi, still a bit dazed, just sat there before feeling an itch on his hand. When he looked towards his hand, he was shocked when he had an insignia burned on his hand. It was simply a black phoenix, probably a representation of an everlasting contract between master and servant.

"How did that get there?" He asked himself, expecting an answer that will never come. "Meh,"
He shrugged as he propped the girl to his bed. He tucked her in and took one more glance at her beautiful face before closing the door behind him.

"Hmmm," He put a hand into his pants pocket and fumbled for money. "I can probably buy some bread with this."

The alarm rang, waking Ami to start her daily routine.

"I wonder what our breakfast will be?" She asked herself as she jumped out of bed and ran towards the mirror.
She sat on her pedestal and began to comb her snowy white hair carefully.

"Ami? You there?" Hiroshi called out from the other side of her room's door. "I'm going out to buy bread."

"Okay. Just don't take too long."

"Oh and, don't enter my room," Hiroshi added.

"Why not?"

"Because I said so."

"What could he be hiding in his room? It's probably something nasty and perverted," Ami thought to herself.

"So sleepy..." Hiroshi yawned as he walked along the concrete pavement leading to the gate.
The sun was shining brightly, yet the clouds seemed a bit dark. Leisurely, he walked towards the convenience store. "What a drag."

He admired the scenery around him as he walked.
He so entirely entranced by the beauty of his surroundings that he reached the convenience store without even realizing it. He walked through the front door and he proceeded to the pastry aisle. He grabbed a bagel and proceeded to the counter. Along the way, he also grabbed a bottle of apple juice, which happened to be his favorite drink in the morning.

"That will be $1.40," The cashier said as he scanned the pastry. "You seem pretty tired today."

"Yeah," Hiroshi laughed weakly, handing the currency. "Some stuff happened."

"I see," The clerk smiled. "Well, ake care and come again soon!" She handed Hiroshi the receipt.

Hiroshi crumpled the receipt and shoved it into his pocket. He sighed as he left the store, unaware of the events about to unfold.

"What should I cook for him today?" Ami cheerfully giggled as she cooked some eggs on the pan.
"Hiroshi...." She pressed her fingers on her lips. "I...." The smell of the burning eggs snapped her out of her thoughts.

"Tonight, I'll confess to him," She thought to herself as she managed to salvage the overdone eggs.

"I'm home!"

"Tonight, I'll get what I want," She snickered evilly before placing the slightly burnt eggs on a plate.

Over a hearty breakfast of overcooked eggs and bacon, the two "siblings" ate together as they carried on a conversation that Hiroshi despised: romance.

"Hey Hiroshi," Ami called out from across a large wooden table. "Have you ever fallen in love?"

Hiroshi was drinking his juice when Ami inquired about his love. In sheer surprise, he sprayed the juice all over his plate.
Good thing he finished his meal,it would otherwise be ruined by the spurted juice.

"What were you thinking Ami?!" Hiroshi cried out, wiping himself with a tissue. "You know how I feel about those things!"

"I know," She giggled at his obvious mess. "I just want to talk about mine."

"If you really wanted to talk," Hiroshi replied, still a bit irritated from the mess.
"I'll listen to you. Just tell me you when want to talk about it and don't surprise me with such inquiries."

Ami's eyes gleamed with joy when Hiroshi finally agreed. "I actually have a boy that I have a crush on," Ami started, her cheeks blushing a bit.

"He's smart, handsome but incredibly dense," She sighed helplessly. "He's also the type of person that would make a great husband someday."

Pretending to pay attention, Hiroshi played with his fork, twisting it in between his fingers.
"Is that so?" He replied emotionlessly, seemingly bored with the world at the moment.

"Yes!"

"And you haven't confessed to him because...?"

"He's too dense about love to even begin to understand my feelings," Ami sighed deeply.
Good thing Hiroshi was so dense. If not, he would have guessed the person who had caused Ami to fall head over heels in love for him.

"Umm, Hiroshi?" She asked, her cheeks flushing a bright red color. "Are you....free this afternoon?"

Hiroshi looked towards her direction and replied, with the empathy of a stone, "No."

Ami smiled a bit and she asked further, her cheeks now visibly red, "Can you go shopping with me?"

He sighed calmly. "What do you want to go shopping for?"

"Games!" She exclaimed ecstatically. Her eyes gleamed brightly, like a child anticipating a piece of candy.

Hiroshi laughed weakly at her childishness. "This is gonna be a long day," He thought.

Stepping inside the game store just a few blocks from the school they both attended, Ami hurriedly ran towards a certain section while Hiroshi remained near the counter, preferring to chat with the store clerk.

"Oh, Hiroshi!" The clerk exclaimed, putting down some of the latest games down near the counter. "Would you like a game today?"

"Hush!" Hiroshi replied, putting a finger on her lips. "Don't tell Ami I buy games here."

The conversation drawed to a whisper. "Why not?"

"I can't let Ami know that I'm an otaku, got it?"

"I guess. I mean, she's also a gamer so the-"

A female voice interrupted the two, "What're you guys doing?" Hiroshi turned around fairly quickly to see Ami carrying five games in total. Hiroshi noticed that most of the games she held were either horror or related to zombies. He was even a bit surprised at some of the titles that she had picked.

"President Evil 5, Right 4 Dead 2?" He sifted through the games that she picked. "Are you sure that you're gonna be able to sleep tonight?"

"Yep!" She placed the items on the counter. "I'm impervious to horror anyways."

Hiroshi clicked his tongue in mock laughter. "You're scared of ghosts but you're not scared of zombies. How pathetic," He whispered under his breath.
Unfortunately, Ami heard it and she raised an eyebrow..

"You!" She cussed at him. "You think you're better than me at videogames?!"

"Of course not. I don't think I'm better than you," He replied sarcastically. "I know I'm better than you."

Ami's anger boiled inside her. "I challenge you to a videogame battle tonight!"

Hiroshi just laughed her off. "Seriously?"

She pointed an accusing finger to him. "If I win, you'll do whatever I say!"

"Fine," Hiroshi smirked, confident. "What if I win?"

"I'll tell all of my secrets!"

He crossed his arms and laughed. "I accept your challenge. Just because you're a girl doesn't mean I won't hold back!"

"I don't want it any other way."

If a bystander saw their competitive spirit, one might picture a tiger and a fox about to begin a fight.

The clerk sighed as she started to scan the items the two were buying. "Silly siblings," She muttered to herself before laughing.

The night was quite silent; the only noises heard were the crickets chirping and the rushing of water from the nearby shrine. One might say that the night had almost a romantic air.
However, in the Shiroikumo mansion....

"Just wait and see, Hiroshi." Ami snickered, setting up her computer. "I'll beat your ass!"

The rules, as they decided, was that they would play President Evil 5 in cooperative mode. They would compare each other's stats at the end of every chapter and the one with the highest stats by the end of the game wins.

In the other room, Hiroshi was playing some music. Unfortunately, the next songs were ones that described about love, something that he despises.
The first song that played on his computer was a love song.

I won't lose to sad things.
I won't lose again.
If the both of us are together,
we can hear the song of bonds between us;
a love song.

Hiroshi pressed a hand to his head. It was agonizing so he pressed the Next button on his Media Player on his computer. Yet again, the song was about love.

You filled my midsummer photographs with colour,
I want to hold every last shining moment close to my heart.
The tears, mistakes and loneliness I experienced in the past
Brought me the happiness that now lay in my hand.
They all made it possible for the two of us to be brought together on this day.

He gagged as he closed his Media player in disgust.
"Why...." He cried out.

Then his phone rung.

Hiroshi picked up. "Hello?"

"Ready to get your ass beaten?" said the caller, smirking.

"Me?" Hiroshi replied sarcastically while clicking the game icon. "Maybe it's you who'll get beaten."

"Game on!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The game started and the two fought it out. It was a close competition as neither of them let up. They both had perfect ratings and their kills were almost identical to each other. But unfortunately, Hiroshi made a mistake, which was forgetting to dodge the crocodiles in chapter 3-1. It cost him the chapter and ultimately, the entire competition.
An hour later....
"Nice try, Hiroshi!" Ami laughed proudly. "You'll never beat me there!"
"Yeah yeah yeah." Hiroshi scratched his head in defeat. "What do you want from me?"
"First of all, I want you to kiss me."
A long, wordless trance was put on Hiroshi before replying. "What?"
"A promise is a promise! Now, kiss me!"
Hiroshi's heart started beating fast.
'What is she saying?!' Hiroshi thought. 'Why me?'
"Come on, Hiroshi!" She glared at him lustfully. "I'm waiting."
"I....I...I...."
Without another word, Hiroshi stepped closer and put a hand to her chin. The distance became closer as their lips await their union. Hiroshi's heart was now on overdrive in pumping and he started to feel dizzy. Just a few more centimeters and ....
A door slammed open, and out came Yuki, Hiroshi's familiar.
Ami was surprised that there was another girl and she pulled back, pretending that nothing happened between the two.
"Master...." she cried out, her cheeks blushing furiously. "I love you."
Without warning, she pressed against Hiroshi and kissed him. It was just a plain touch of their lips, not a smooch. He tried to keep himself calm but he was failing miserably.
He felt a chill run down his spine as he saw Ami. She seemed withdrawn, all of a sudden. "Hiroshi....I....I...."
She suddenly picked up a very conveniently placed whip and began to stretch it with such force that the sound cracked through the air. She's pissed and he knows it. He pulled back and suddenly, he smelled alcohol from Yuki. Unfortunately, in her drunken state she immediately fainted and she fell against a soft chair.
"Ami!" He called out to her jealous sister. "It's all a misunderstanding!"
"Misunderstanding my ass!" Ami cried out, before lashing out at Hiroshi.
A loud cry echoed throughout the entire city during that eventful night.
