The Start of a Journey and The Start of a Legacy

Nuvema Town- Professor Juniper's Lab

"Are you two ready to meet your partner pokémon?" The female professor said.

"I've waited for this moment for the last 8 years professor." A dark skinned boy said.

(Hi my name is Yang Harmonus I'm 18 years old and I'm about to start my very first pokémon journey. The main reason why I'm starting so late is because of my parents in which I'll get into detail later on. I have black buzz cut hair, ruby red eyes, a normal build, and what makes me who I am is that I have a calm calculating personality.)

"Me too professor let's see them let's see them let's see them!" A light skinned girl shouted right next to Yang while jumping up and down.

(The girl right next to me is my sister Yin Harmonus and like the name said she's my sister and literal polar opposite to me in about everything and I mean everything from clothes to life styles to even what we eat and how we reacted to situations. She has blond shoulder length hair, sapphire blue eyes, a curvy figure that would make most guys and some girls drool and make the most other girls jealous, and what really makes her Yin is that she has a hyperactive "rush in head first" personality. But one thing we agree on is pokémon and that you should always treat them fairly and that we always look after friends and family.)

"Alright alright calm down Yin, you don't want to scare your first partner now do you?" The professor said while grabbing two pokéballs from a counter.

(That's Professor Juniper, age 23 although Yin and me call her Juni most of the time. She's one of our closest friends that we had mainly since her dad and ours worked together in this same lab for over 15 years as Pokémon professor and assistant. We mainly did everything together to a point that she became like a big sister to us.)

"Sorry Juni." Yin looked down at the floor while blushing a little from embarrassment while Yang gave a small chuckle.

"Anyway here you go guys, for Yang Snivy." The professor handed the young trainer his ball that would contain his first ally.

"Thanks Juni."

"And for Yin Oshawatt." Juniper handed the eager girl her first pokémon.

"Thank you so much Juni." The excited girl quickly hugged and nearly suffocated her closest friend before letting her go so she could breathe. She then looked at her brother who has the same look of confidence as she does.

"Ready Yang?" Yin said with a strong confident smile that started to reach over to her brother.

"Always sis." Yang said while returning the smile to his sister. At the same time they both release their pokémon that came out in a bright blue flash. The first was Snivy who was a small green snake who was no more than a foot tall with a cream colored underbelly, a tail that looked like a small leaf and one of those looks that said "I only respect those who respect me back and are strong". Oshawatt was the next one to come out. It was a small blue and white otter looking pokémon with a yellow shell on its chest and a scared look on its face. Yang went directly over to Snivy and looked it directly in the eye for a few seconds before they both gave each other a reassuring grin.

"Snivy something tells me are going to be the best of partners." Yang said while extending a hand towards Snivy.

"Sni Snivy." Snivy nodded before climbing up Yang's arm and sitting on his shoulder.

"Hey Yin how are you doing with Osha... what the hell happened to you!" Yang, Snivy, and Juniper all looked at Yin who is completely soaked from the neck down with a completely terrified and embarrassed Oshawatt.

"Well I ran up to Oshawatt to give her a hug and she freaked out and hit me with a water gun." The young trainer said while scratching the back of her head and laughing a little which got the others to break out laughing for a while. Yang then just had a realization after playing back what his sister just said.

"Wait how do you know Oshawatt is a girl Yin?"

"I just asked her." Yin asked in a nonchalant tone with made Yang look at Snivy.

"Uh... Snivy... are you a..."

"Snivy." The grass snake pokémon gave a quick nod and a little blush.

"Well now that you two met your starters it's time to give you your Pokédex." The young professor gave both of them their devices and gave a heartwarming smile to the two. "Yin, Yang I've known you two ever since I was 8. I've babysit, played with, and tutored both of you that you both became my little brother and sister to me and now I got to give you your first pokémon." The professor started to cry as she hugged her two closest friends. "Please stay safe you two, I don't wanna see you two end up on the news like some other trainers." She slowly said while tightening her grip around her closest friends for a few minutes before she calmed down and was able to talk.

"I promise Juni." Yang said while returning the hug.

"Me too and besides we'll always stay in touch so don't worry too much about us." Yin said while heading for the exit while trying not to cry.

"Anyway are you coming tomorrow to see Yin leave for Sinnoh?"

"Yeah... I wouldn't miss it for the world." Juniper said while calming down from crying and wiping some tears from her eyes.

"Ok well then see you tomorrow Juni. Come on Snivy time to meet our parents." Yang said while on his way to the exit of the laboratory and towards home with his sister.

Nuvema Town- Yin & Yang Home

The two siblings entered the house only to be greeted by their parents a light skinned man in his mid-40's with blond spiky hair and beard, blue eyes, navy blue jeans and light blue t-shirt and a dark skinned woman in her late-30's with long black hair and a crimson dress.

"Yin, Yang welcome home." The woman said while giving both a hug while the man gave a proud smile from the couch he was sitting on.

(These are our parents Will and Hope Harmonus and other than being one of the reasons why Yin and I had to wait an extra 8 years to start our pokémon journey. It had something to do with mom dedicated to get us an education and a belt, they're also known for being record holders. They're mainly known for being the couple with the most combined championship wins with 5 altogether. Mom won 3 Grand Festivals, 1 in Kanto, Johto, and Sinnoh, while Dad won 2 League Championships, 1 in Unova and Sinnoh. Given the fact that they are widely known throughout the world, odds are that me and Yin are going to run into some big obstacles through our first year.)

"Thanks mom. Anyway this is Snivy my new partner, Snivy this is mom." The grass pokémon gave a quick bow which was shortly lived since she was quickly embraced by the woman. Yin quickly started to giggle while Oshawatt had a look of fear at the grass snake being constructed by the woman but they were interrupted when Will called them.

"Hey everyone, check out the news." Will turned up the volume as he moved over on the couch to allow Hope and Yin to sit down while Yang stood behind the couch while Snivy was able to escape Hope's grip and return back to Yang's shoulder. A reporter was talking about a murder scene that happened recently.

"This just in from Unova News Network the body of a trainer was found today at around Route 14. The victim had several lacerations and multiple puncture wounds across his body along with his pokémon a Stoutland, Emboar, and Unfezant suffering nearly fatal wounds. Officials believe that the trainer who was only 10 ran across a Haxorus pack and attempted to catch one of the Axew but before he could attempt he was swarmed by the group and viciously attacked. The pokémon are currently being treated at the Undella Pokémon Center but the trainer was killed. I'm Regina Dell Unova News Network." The television showed the mangled remains of the unlucky trainer.

(That's another reason why I'm glad to start my journey at 18. You see given the fact that most kids leave out for their pokémon journey at 10 that means that they only have about a 4th to 5th grade education when they start out. Also as a bonus most kids don't know the necessary skills to survive in the wild but do it anyway, and if they are on a losing streak in matches most of the time they end up broke in which they can't by food or medicine for themselves or their pokémon. Unless they win their next few matches they would have to resort to getting a job but since they're only 10 and a 5th grade education finding job that are easy for themselves are nearly impossible which in most cases lead to starvation. This is why out of all the death ratios for pokémon trainers/coordinators for 10 to 13 year olds is the worst with 1 out of every 25 dying mainly by starvation, ingesting poisonous plants and not getting cured of it, wild pokémon attacks, and even getting attacked by their own pokémon. The next highest death rate would be 14 to 17 year olds who have 1 out of every 150 dead and that's mainly by natural disasters.)

"Well there goes another trainer, may he rest in peace." Will said while lowering his head while the rest of the family did the same thing for about a minute before Hope said something.

"So are you two ready for tomorrow?"

"Yeah I got everything packed and ready to go." Yin said with reassurance.

"Same thing with me."

"Good now go wash up dinner ready."

"Ok." The siblings said at the same time as they both walked up the stairs to the bathroom. After dinner the siblings decided to call it early and headed for bed as for tomorrow their adventure and their legacy would start.
