WARNING: IF YOU'RE UNDER 18, OFFENDED BY ADULT LANGUAGE, LEWD OR DEPRAVED BEHAVIOUR, OR JUST LIKE TO FIND SOMETHING TO BITCH ABOUT. GO JUMP OFF A CLIFF AND DON'T READ THIS STORY!

Notice: Partly to do with my long standing within several Online RPG's all telepathic communications will be noted with a ~ instead of normal quotation marks. This seems to make things easier to understand for some people.

Introduction: This is part three of "Who are we?". Previously in part two Seb and Kaela left the Team Rocket base, and placed as much distance between themselves and Giovanni as possible before nightfall, camping in the forest off route 38, near Ecruteak city. In a bizarre twist of fate they encountered Jesse, James & Meowth, after a brief fight the sound of "Team Rocket's blasting off again..." could be heard for a short while as the hapless trio were blown away by Seb. After that the pair settled down for the night to watch the stars, and fantasise about a safe place together.
We begin the following morning after the pair have packed up camp and begun to move on again.

Oh there is a special guest appearance by two members of team SDB in this episode. One of whom will probably remain in it for a while, the other will just drop in from time to time to lend a hand when he isn't busy in another dimension.

Who Are We (Part 3)?
by Silencer

"I feel love, must I also know fear?"

Kaela walked beside me through the dense part of the forest, the calm was revitalising in some way I guess, we occasionally saw smaller Pokémon going about their business unconcerned about our presence. I had no idea of where we were going though, just getting away from Giovanni was all that mattered to us right now I guess.

~ It is nice to be able to smell such an abundance of life. It's so different to that section of the Rocket base where they had me contained. ~

~ I know. While the plants were there, it was lifeless without other creatures. Even a must disgusting Grimer is a part of this world, and we'd miss them if they weren't there. Though most would deny that until they were gone. ~

I noticed something was moving with deliberate stealth through the underbrush nearby. And it wasn't human.

~ It's hard to tell what kind of Pokémon it is from here. But I'd say it's normally nocturnal. ~

~ How long have you been able to sense it? ~

~ Not long Seb. It's pretty tightly shielded. I'd say it's a Dark type Pokémon from just that fact. ~

~ We'll know what it wants before long I guess. Let's just keep going. ~

I was wrong we walked for the rest of the day without the creature approaching us, but it was definitely following us. Over the next few days we got used to it's presence though, it was just a constant thing in a pretty chaotic world. Eventually we came to the edge of Ecruteak city. We needed more supplies, but I'd attract attention if I entered the town with Kaela walking beside me, and nearly as much if I entered on my own, Pokémon trainers didn't pass unnoticed.

~ Relax, you forget where I gain my abilities from. ~
Kaela said, and promptly changed shape into that of a young girl.

"Well daddy. What do you think?"

"Try for something closer to my own age. It might get suspicious if we share a room together otherwise. I assume Mew possessed the ability to Transform like Ditto."

"Exactly. Give me a moment to visualise a form more to your liking."

The young lady that looked at me shortly afterwards was good enough, I wasn't really that old myself I remembered, I was only about 20 according to what I knew about myself anyway. She was dressed, but I figured I'd probably better help her shop for some real clothes once we were in Ecruteak, it would be easier later on if we repeated the farce often enough.

~ Fair enough. Though we'll have to think of a plausible explanation if anyone asks why I've only got the clothes I'm wearing. ~

~ Just let me do the talking. ~
We entered Ecruteak and looked around for a store that sold clothing, finally we found one. Entering I saw that it had a good range to chose from, that was definitely a stroke of good luck. A store clerk came over and offered us her assistance.

"Uh, yeah. We've been hiking for a fair while, and a few days ago we had an accident following a ravine and lost one of our packs and our tent. All of Kaela's clothing was in the pack we lost. So we're sort of after a whole new wardrobe suitable for our travels. We're heading for New Bark town at the moment so we're going to be on the road for a long time yet."

"Ok. Let's get her fitted out again. I assume you'll want new shoes as well. Those ones look pretty worn."

"Thanks. Just get whatever you think is neccessary, along with some spares. I'm going to go sort out our supplies so we can continue travelling tomorrow."
I left them there and found a store that stocked food and other items we might need.

"Going far?"
Asked the man behind the counter. I nodded, and went back to looking for foodstuffs that wouldn't go off quickly.

"Yeah, we're planning on going to New Bark town to see some people, and then maybe moving on to somewhere else. We were planning on going by way of Mahogany town. Any news of interest from that way?"

"Nope, nothing worth noting, except that Beedrill have been swarming around Blackthorn."

"Thanks for the warning, I've got plenty of Super Repel already though. A word of warning though, we ran into some members of Team Rocket on Route 38. So anyone who comes through should probably leave their rare Pokémon stored away and only take the common ones they've got. Less likely to run into trouble that way."

"Thanks for the info. I'll pass it along to the other towns and let other trainers know when they stop in. So how'd you deal with them?"

"They went out with a bang. There was no way they were going to take my Pokémon without a fight."

"There wouldn't be too many trainers who'd disagree with you there, regardless of the rarity of the Pokémon."

"I only have the one at the moment. But we are a team, we're as close as we could ever be."

"I understand, it's your first Pokémon, and you've formed a bond that can't really be described. I used to be a Trainer as well. My old Bayleef and I could never be seperated, we're just too close. Some trainers speak of being so close to their Pokémon that words aren't neccessary to communicate. I believe them, especially with the Psychic Pokémon. Well best of luck on your trip. If you ever come back through this way, stop by and we can talk some more."

"Thanks for the offer. It's nice to be able to talk with someone who understands."
I said as I walked out the door with a new bag and all of the supplies. I walked back into the clothes store and saw that Kaela and the clerk had finished selecting the clothes. I paid for them, and we left heading for the Pokémon centre. We'd sleep there tonight and then move on tomorrow. I got the impression though that our shadow was still out there waiting for us to move on again. Again I was wrong, it visited our room that night. I couldn't see it but it had entered the Pokécentre without being spotted by anyone. It dropped something and then was gone again. I got out of bed and walked over to what it had dropped, it was a letter, addressed to me.

"Let's get out of here now Kaela that Pokémon was a messenger. It just left a sealed letter."

"What does it say?"
I tore open the envelope as I switched on the light.

"It says, 'Seb get out of there immediately. There are hostiles present.' There are no signatures at all, not even initials."

"Well lets go then. Which way were you thinking of going by?"

"Let's hit the road to Mahogany town, the Beedrill are swarming near Blackthorn, so by the time we get halfway to Mahogany the area should be alive with Beedrill. That should help keep us safe."

"Ok. I've packed my gear. Here is your pack. Let's move quickly."
I wondered who had sent the message as I pulled on my jumpsuit and then the jacket, plus the boots. We sneaked out of the Pokécentre and left the town as quickly as we could. Just as we'd reached the edge of town I looked back and saw people moving into the centre. And not any small number, we'd left just in time.

"It's always nice to see you Seb. What happened to you to make you forget your past?"
Said a familiar, yet unknown voice. A man stepped from the shadows a Houndoom beside him, obviously that had been the unseen messenger. I placed the face quickly enough though, the information streaming to me in seconds.

"Giovanni wiped my mind. I'm gradually gaining things back as I see things. It's nice to see you though Chris. Along with Ares there. How'd he sneak into the Pokécentre without being seen?"

"Our secret. The team have all been worried about you. I just happened to spot you with your strange friend there while you were in the forest. I notified the others that you were alive, and possibly well."

"Let's keep moving. The Beedrill are swarming so any followers will have a hard time chasing us."

"Good thinking. Ares, go seek out any unwelcome followers for a while."
The Houndoom nodded and trotted away. It was silent in this backdrop of the forest. Somewhere off in the distance I could have sworn I heard the sound of a bagpipe song. The name clicked strangely enough, it was 'Mist Covered Mountains' strangely it signified something special to me, but what I didn't know. The sound of the music grew louder as we kept on running through the forest, eventually we were standing in front of where the music was originating from, there was an open portal standing in mid air that was gradually widening. A figure stepped out of it finally and grinned at us, at least thats what I thought the flash of teeth was meant to be, but somehow flashing white teeth on a black face was really disturbing, especially when it was a 6'3" tall black athromorphic cat wearing armor with a massive sword slung over his shoulder that gave it to you.

"Pardon me, but is this the road between Mahogany town and Ecruteak city?"

"Yes. Who are you though?"

"Oh sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. You must be Sebastian. I'm KA-su-MA-kun, most people just call me Panther or Silencer though. Let's just say I'm here to lend you a hand. Sorry about how long it took, but it takes time to build a big enough portal to cross several dimensions and a few 100 thousand light years, not coming the timing."

"Whats with the bagpipe music?"

"Just a little reminder of my past. Now which way shall I go to distract your pursuers?"

"They're back that way."

"Thanks. One moment."
He looked at me closely for a moment, and then I was looking at what could have been a mirror.

"Hmm, it'll have to do."
He said distractedly glancing at me again and then running off towards Ecruteak city. The portal had closed by now.

"A strange individual, that Silencer."

"You said it Chris. Let's keep running though."

"Let's there is no way I want to be locked up again."
Kaela said and we kept running, later we heard screams from behind us. What had caused them I wasn't certain of at first, though Chris winced visibly when Ares turned up shortly after. The sound of bagpipes drifted through the air as well.

"It was Silencer. He let himself get captured, then returned to normal and disabled the lot of them, didn't actually kill anyone. Ares saw the whole thing. He also left the same way he came."

"Vicious. But it definitely gives us a chance of escaping without too much worry. It also explains the bagpipes."
We ran the rest of the night finally finding ourselves a small cave in which to camp for the rest of the night.

"Look I'm going to leave you now. I'll meet you later in Blackthorn. Hopefully the rest of the team will be there as well. Come Ares."
With that Chris disappeared from the cave, his faithful Houndoom Ares at his side. Kaela undressed and remained in human form. I had an idea of what she wanted. Had I gotten myself stuck with a Nympho Pokémon by some quirk of fate?

"No just a very curious one. Now undress please."

"No. Not with all those Zubat watching."

"What!?!"
She stared around at the gathered Zubat, then grabbed her sleeping bag and got into it and went to sleep. I followed suit, only in my sleeping bag not hers. I could feel her embarassment. I could almost hear the Zubat having a good chuckle at her expense.

"Laugh it up shit face. Be glad she didn't decide to blast you all to kingdom come."
I drew up close to her and hugged her tight, regardless of what I might think about having an audience to any bedtime activities we might have liked to enjoy, I didn't consider cuddling to be a noteworthy offense. I was surprised to have her roll over and hug me close as well. I could feel the cool tears on her cheeks.

~ Hey. Nobody ever said life was all enjoyable. ~

~ I know. But I really wanted to... ~

~ I know. It's alright, you weren't to know about all the deviates hanging around. Maybe next time we'll get a chance to enjoy each other for real. ~

"Bloody Zubat. Fucking perverted Poison types, you'd think they'd have enough of their own species to spy on."
She said before sobbing into my chest. I just held her close without saying anything. I doubted anything I could have said would have helped anyway. I just kissed her gently on the forehead and kept on holding her.
Eventually she fell asleep in my arms, I let myself fall asleep as well after that.

End of Part 3

NB: Chris is a RL person. He's a proficient swordsman, and a stout hearted member of team SDB who specialises in pumping out ammo as fast and as accurately as humanly possible, in paintball and in Unreal Tournament deathmatches. His furry persona is similar to a Houndoom, and his nickname is Ares in case you were wondering where his canine companion came from. KA-su-MA-kun (trans. Silent DeathBringer of the clan of Infinite Shapes) is my personal persona (Duh!), I won't appear too often though. There is no real need for giant cats with a Daikatana to appear too often to solve problems.
Well seeya, I've gotta get cracking on part 4.
"Gotta write them all." ;-0
