Night's Journey by demon

The Beginning > 1

First Pokemon story here, and I don't think that I'll be doing another one ..... Well, not unless some people ask me to ...

Usual disclaimers.

The Beginning > 1

Night Hawk looked up at the digital clock from where he was on his bed. The glowing digits read 3:49. He sighed, and rested his head back onto his pillow, and folded his wings back over himself. He blinked trying to remember what woke him, then cried softly as he remembered that this was the anniversary of his parents death. They had died seven years ago when he was eleven. He ran that horrible memmory through his head one more time. He stared unseeing as the events unfolded again. He could almost smell the fire, the thick smoke .... and he could hear their screams as they were burnt alive for giving birth to him. He Blinked, and cried stronger, letting the sadness fill him, and sobbing himself back to sleep.

"Wake up Night" Came a soft female voice, "You don't want to miss today." Night felt a soft touch start from the middle of his back, and slowly travel upwards between his midnight wings. He flexed them, before grumpily mutterring,

"Leave me alone Darcie," He shifted his wings above his head trying to block the incoming light. "Don't you know what today is?"

The rubbing stopped, but Darcie didn't raise her hand, or go away. "Yes, today's the day that your parents died for you." She muttered sadly, but she perked up alittle thinking about the surprise that they were going to spring upon him. "And it's Your Birthday! C'mon Night, We've got something for you." She lifted her hand from his back, giving Night a moment of relief, before she Hugged him gently, being carefull of his Magnificent Wings. "And if you don't hurry, we may just decide not to give it to you." She smiled mischeiviously before leaving his room, and heading back downstairs.

Night groaned, and flexed his wings. He put his arms under him, and pushed himself up, then leant back on his legs in order to sit up. One thing about wings that he had learned early on, you don't sleep on them if you don't wanna be sore. He blinked back a sniffle, then berated himself. "No crying in public." Blinking back the tears, he sighed. Another day, and most likely, another bad one. He sighed again, and stretched up alittle, his back muscles rippling softly as he stretched his wings out, but curling them in due to their massive size. He blinked, and his face fell. That was the reason they killed his parents. He was born with wings that were as dark as an Umbreon's fur, yet had the feathering of a newborn Pidgey. He clenched a fist in momentary anger, before relaxing and going to his wardrobe to change. He opened the slightly creaking wood doors, glancing at the mirror inside, and studying his face. He let His eyes roam, ticking things off in his mind. Soft brown hair that could turn white with enough sun, or black without it. Soft skin that was slowly becoming tanned. A short nose that could find almost anything. Ears that were slightly pointed, and that could hear things that others missed. A slightly protruding chin. He stared at his reflection. He knew he had missed something, but what? He blinked as he pondered the question, then chuckled at missing something so obvious. His eyes. Many thought they were beautiful, but that was before thay really got to know him. His eye's changed colour depending upon his mood. They had been a deep drowning blue a moment ago, before he chuckled and let in a bit of happiness. Now they had turned a rust flecked teal colour. He shook himself from his reverie, and searched for something slightly decent to wear. He had actually thought about it before realising that he only had two chices, black or purple. He chose the Black, Got dressed hurriedly, keeping an eye on the door, and then went downstairs to meet Darcie and her husband Trevor. They really were nice to him, even though he lashed out occaisionally at them. He scowled, he'd always been carefull to never use his abilities when in the presence of normal people, except as a last resort. He got two shocks when he bumped into the kitchen table, and was poked by Darcie.

"Ha Ha, You haven't walked into the table for almost a month. Now you've got to start over again." She said with a wide smile, and a cheerful stance. Trevor sneaked up on his wife, and hugged her from behind, nuzzling into her neck softly. Darcie squealed, and batted at him before letting him continue. Night simply backed away from the overly affectionate couple. He'd learned early on to stay away from them, or suffer the consequences of being hugged. Darcie Flapped her hands at her husband, "Now Now Trevor. We need to be presentable on this day." She grinned as she looked at Trevor meaningfully.

Trevor blinked, then his eyes widened. "Oh Right!" He grinned, and tossed Night a glance. "You're in for an exciting time Night. We're going to do something very special for you today." His eyes hardened uncharacteristically for a moment. "Granted you'll be able to do almost anything with your 'gift' but I would strongly suggest keeping it."

Night sighed. They'd gone over this several times before. They wanted him to have a Pokemon, but he alway's turned them down. He didn't want something that depended upon him for every single little thing, and he didn't like the battles either. He saw it as a waste of hard work. He looked into their eyes, trying to plead silently with them not to do it, but he only got blank stares, and a sense of his impending doom. He sighed, "Where am I meant to go?"

Darcie grinned, he was taking it well. "You've got to go down to Sceron's Breeding fields," She blushed. "He promised to give you a Pokemon to start out with if we did a few things for him." Now Trevor was blushing. "Don't ask what it was, just go down there and pick something you like." She shooed him towards the door. "Hurry Up. He said that he wouldn't wait long, and that if you took your time, you wouldn't have a real choice about it."

Meaning there were other's going down to him for a Pokemon ... Great. He looked back to the overly loving couple before heading towards the door. "If there's nothing else I'll ..."

"Wait." Called Darcie. Night was wary as she strode towards him. "So you know, we don't expect you to come back right away. We want you to experience the world for at least a week before coming back." She leaned up to him, and kissed him in a motherly way. When she got back down, she left a very startled Night behind.

"Umm .... 'k .... I'll uhhh .... I'll be going now ..." He blinked, then dashed to the door, flinging it open, and racing out into the morning light.

Back in the House, Darcie was sniffling quietly while Trevor held her. "Do you think he'll be allright?" Trevor nuzzled into her neck again, "He'll be fine Love. Now, why don't you close the door, and we'll have some fun while he's out?" Darcie nodded, and slowly closed the door.

Night walked a short distance down the track from his home for the last seven years. He checked over his clothes, making sure that his wings were hidden completely. The cloak was a little uneccessary, but he could never be too carefull. He sighed, and continued trudging down the track passing a few people that knew him, and many that didn't. He glanced around, noting the samness of just about everything. Same fences, Same houses, Same people, Same lawns. Everything was the same in Derank, but it still had it's odd spots .....

"Hey Freak!"

He sighed, and it's malicious spots. "What do you want Troy?"

"I want to kick your arse again you feathered freak!"

Night sighed, No matter what, there was always someone. "The last time you tried this, you got hurt."

"The last time, I didn't have my friends!"

Night snarled as his hearing picked up the excited breathing of six other males, why he didn't notice them before angered him. He was better than this!

"I don't care about your friends Troy, but if they're like you, you still wont have a chance."

He Sprinted off towards the Breeding fields, hoping to get a head start. One he could handle, but Seven? He heard their yells as they realised he was running. Damn it, He was hoping to get more than just a few seconds. He ran full tilt, putting everything he had into his legs. The fields were only a Kilometre away, and hopefully they'd give up before then, but he seriously doubted that. A rock whistled past his ear. AssHoles! His eyes widened in fear as he saw his doom. A Golum had decided to take a nap in the middle of the track, and he wasn't going to clear it. He looked around desperately, and spotted an offshoot to the fields. It hadn't been used for awhile, but that might help him, and he ducked into it. He followed it around to the back of the fields, where an old entrance that used to be pristine was now a hulking mess. He slowed down to a quick walk in order to avoid harming himself, but he still looked around for someway to escape them. He could still hear them, right now they were outside the entrance to the path, and a few metres from the Golum. They were deciding where to go. Night looked around the enveloping forest. He cursed softly, with all these trees around him, he wouldn't be able to fly. He thought quickly, and he thought hard. Troy and his gang yelled as they charged down the path. No more room for thought, Night ran into the breeding fields, hoping that he was heading towards the front entrance. He passed some Tauros, Lickitung, a flock of Fearow, some Ivysaur, a bunch of Tangella, and a rather disgruntled Wartortle. Night Ducked the Hydro Pump that was blasted in his general direction, and saw Sceron's Mansion. He dashed around to the front, putting in one more burst of speed, and litterally Smashing into Sceron.

"Ahhh Fuck! What the Fuck was that for Night?" Sceran glared at Night, he knew he wasn't that tough, but Night usually crumpled if he was put down enough.

Night was sprawled in the dust, coughing gently, and trying to wheeze out his explanation. "Bullies .... Run ....Pokemon .... Time .... Late?" He coughed strongly after the late, alot of dust getting into his lungs.

Sceron felt a little sorry for the guy, it wasn't Night's fault, it was his ... in a way ... "Damn, I'm sorry Man, I never thought you'd be this excited about getting a Pokemon, I thought I'd have to drag you down here and hand you one myself!"

Night wheezed again, "Normally you would..... But I'm being kicked out for a week so I can learn .... stuff ...."

"What kind of ....." Sceron stared into Night's bright grey eyes. "Why are you afraid Night? Are you Scared of Pokemon?" Personally, he didn't think it was possible, But, you never know ....

Once again, Night Cursed his eyes. No matter what happened, his eyes would always give him away. "No Sceron, I'm not afraid of Pokemon, I was chased all the way here by Troy and his new gang." He looked down at the ground again. He hated letting anyone know that he was weak, even if it was just because he was out numbered.

Sceron looked at Night sympathetically. He knew about Troy, and chances were he'd be here soon as he was meant to pick up a starter Pokemon today, along with a eight or nine others. 'Oh Shit' was the mental thought. "Night get inside. Troy and several others should be here shortly for their starters, and if he sees you here, and without a Pokemon, he may decide to be a thug about it all.

Night nodded, not like it was any different, He trudged up the White Marble stairs of the three storey Mansion, and went inside. He found a window seat on the third floor that over looked the front gardens, ( and incidentally, where the Starters were being held ). He looked over the starters, and realised that there was one from each region. The three starters from Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn were there. He sighed, and looked down. He wouldn't get first pick, and he wouldn't be able to leave on his journey with his new Pokemon .... wait ....... WHAT? Night stood up, and turned around to face the room. No one was there, but why did he suddenly want to have a Pokemon, and why did he want to go on a journey? He felt confused, this wasn't right. He'd never wanted a Pokemon, they were just extra luggage that needed to be dumped as soon as possible ........ weren't they? He sat back down, and gave serious thought to what he considered Pokemon to be.

Several hours had passed by, and it was turning into evening when Sceron finally went up to the third floor looking for Night. He found him in the exact position that he sat down in, deep in thought. Sceron walked over to him, and asked him if he would like to have a look around the place and to choose a Pokemon for himself. Night didn't budge. Sceron tapped him on the shoulder, and Night gave a start.

"What? Have they gone now?"

"Yeah Night, they're gone now, but so are all of the starter Pokemon. I came here wanting to know if you wanted to look around the fields and choose something that appealed to you, or if you wanted to wait for a trained Pokemon starter." He looked a little sad, but he took it in stride.

"No, I think I'll look around." He smiled, and his eyes changed from sea green to a light Tangerine. "It's not like I have anything better to do." He chuckled.

Sceron blinked at Nights apparent mood and eye colour change. Orange for happy ... when was the last time that he was actually happy enough for his eyes to change? .... he couldn't remember ever seeing his eyes change to orange like that .... hmmmmm. Sceron lent his hand to Night, who took it, and stood. "Well, if you want to go searching for something that peaks your interest, go right ahead."

Night nodded, and made his way out of Sceron's Mansion, and began looking around the place. It didn't take long before he found something that was extremely unusual. Even considering himself it was unusual. He heard the sound of Pokemon at play, but it sounded odd for some reason, He followed the sound, stopping every now and then to get his bearings straight. He was right at the edge of the fields when he saw them. Eight or nine Charmanders of varying Colours, Breeds, Heights, and Sizes were sorrounding something in their circle. Their cries were excited Chaaar's, but it sounded ...... wrong ... Night sniffed carefully, and found a scent that he knew very well. It was Fear. Whatever they were playing with was terrified of them and their 'fun'. He watched in total Disbelief as an Emerald Green Charmander with a blue tail flame tried to push its way out of the ring, only to be clawed at visciously by the others. Night Growled. That was enough for him! He searched his memmory for something deffensive in nature, but untraceable. Apart from his shield, he drew a blank. Fine! He concentrated, picturing a smooth dome surrounding the green Charmander. He felt the snap, and the loss of energy that signified a casting, but he was more worried about whether it worked or not. He looked up as a ball of fire surrounded the green one, again he stared. They were all using Fire spin upon an obviously weaker opponent, regardless of it's type deffense. He hoped, He hoped with all his heart that the casting was strong enough, and not a waste. He looked to the Charmanders, and Grinned. There were surprised Chaarrr's all around as the fire died down leaving an untouched Charmander, and a lightly flickering dome surrounding it. Night grinned at their obvious confusion. That's what you get for ganging up on someone weaker than you. He smiled darkly, imagining shackles stopping the Charmanders from moving. He put a lot of thought into the intricacy of the shackles, making sure that they allowed movement, but not much. He felt the snap and the drain, and happily watched them topple over screeching in shock. He walked into their midst, and they immediately hushed, whether it was because he was human, and a would be trainer, or because they were caught doing something cruel, he didn't know. What he did know, was that he wanted that Charmander, even if he had to pay more for it. He touched the dome surrounding the green one, and absorbed the energy back, though with so many Fire spins put into it when he had it on absorb, the energy was a bit more than expected. His eyes widened as he realised that it had absorbed the heat and the energy! He searched quickly, then thrust everything he was pulling from the shield into this new image. It was a pendant, shaped like a wavering flame, and in it he poured everything he took from the shield. He collapsed to his knees, just inside of where the shield used to be. In his left hand was a pendant that glowed softly, and gave off a small amount of heat. This, he promptly placed in his pocket. He reached out, and gently tapped the Charmander's head, and felt sad when it cringed.

Charmander

I Cringed as I felt something touch me. Why couldn't they just leave me alone? I couldn't help how I looked, or how I was. It wasn't fair!

The Charmander cried softly, curling tighter within himself, and waiting for the pain to begin again. However, when it didn't, he began to wonder why. He slowly opened one eye, and was immediately confused ( With the way his head was turned, he hadn't noticed Night yet ). He saw his tormentors on the floor, moving a little, but not a whole lot. Even more confusing was the burnt grass that circled him. He had heard them all shouting Fire spin, but why wasn't he at least singed? He turned slowly to the right after hearing a noise, he was prepared to bolt as soon as he saw another Pokemon, but he saw a human. A human with eyes so blue you could drown in them. Such sorrow, such anguish, it made him want to reach out and make it all better. He crawled forwards, before sitting back onto his haunches. He blinked. Then toppled over backwards in Horror. NO! Don't you Even DARE! He Growled to himself. He's a human, and you know for a fact that they don't like Pokemon that way, remember when you tried Sceron? He probably isn't that type either. The Charmander sighed sadly, and lay upon his back, his tail tip slowly burning the dead grass that it touched.

Night

Night Blinked in surprise as the Charmander toppled over, but what was more surprising was the Charmander's eyes. They were blue, but they looked slightly crystaline. It was like they were hard, yet soft at the same time. He knew it wasn't possible, yet he still wondered if they could be soft yet hard. His sensitive nose caught the scent of the burning grass, and he poked the Charmander gently. When it raised it's head, he pointed to the smouldering grass. The Charmander looked sheepish, and it raised it's tail, keeping the flame above the ground. He thought about it. Well, why not?

"Hey Charmander, I've got a question for you."

"Chaar?"

"I was simply wondering something, and if you say no, i'll understand, but I was wanting to know if you might possibly want to be my first Pokemon?" He looked at the Charmander worriedly. It really wasn't fair this way, but at least it'd have a choice about it.

The Charmander didn't move for awhile until the information fully sinked in, then it started nodding rapidly, and shouting out a few high pitched Chaaaaar's. Night Winced at the Pitch, but let it go, after all, it was really excited. The Charmander hugged him Bodily, jumping up and down, and starting a few small grass fires in the process. He hugged him back, but pushed him away after he deemed the hugg had gone on long enough, and for once knew that he was happy, not just happy, but 'Happy' for the first time since his parents died.

"Well, if I'm gonna keep you, you need a name, don't you?"

"Chaaaaarrr."

Well, I have a name already, but I'd rather like to know if you like it before I make it Permanent. 'k?"

"Char!"

Night Grinned, "Well, the name I was considerring giving you was Sapphire, due to your Soulfull eyes and blue tail flame. What do you think?"

The Charmander really seemed to consider it, Before nodding rapidly, and Trying to hugg Night again. Night put up his arm, and pushed Sapphire away. "Chaar?"

"Look Sapphire, if you're going to be mine, there's just a few little things that you need to know about me, I don't like hugging, or any type of affection for that matter, and you'll learn about the others when they come up, 'k?"

Sapphire looked down sadly, "char."

Night reached over and patted his head, "Hey C'mon, don't be sad. I'm sure you can show affection in other ways. And don't you think we should be going to see Sceron now to get a ball for you?" Sapphire looked at him in confusion, and Night raised his cloak above his belt line, careful to keep his wings hidden though. "See? No pokeballs, and Sceron's bound to have at least one spare for you." He smiled, to think, HE was happy about having a pokemon, and a strange one at that! He stood up, and let his cloak fall back down. He glanced around at the other Charmanders that were still flat on the ground, vainly struggling against his invisible shackles. Seeing this he smiled, and it wasn't a nice smile.

Sapphire, looking where he was, saw the nine others that had been terrorising him since his hatching day, and cringed letting out a Chaaarraaaraar, and hiding behind Night.

Night scowled, How Dare they? He walked forwards to the first one, and Kicked it, breaking his spell on contact. It screeched, then rolled. He blinked. If he didn't do something, they'd run before he was finished with them all. He stopped moving, and concentrated on a bigger Shield, this time he made it inward facing, so as to stop their escape. He stumbled, and fell forwards when he felt the drain. He'd never tried anything that big before, and judging by the drain, he never would again. He got up, and limped to the others, giving them all a kick to break the spells. After they were freed, they all dashed to what they thought was freedom, but crashed into his shield making Night Wince from the feedback. They got back up and then huddled together facing Night, their backs to the shield. The biggest one spoke up with a wavering "Chhaaarr?"

Night glared down at them, he hoped this would stick. "I Know what you did, and I also know how much I dispise it." He clenched a fist, and considered killing them for what they had done, and sighed mentally. He wouldn't do it, even for this, but he still kept the rage in his eyes. "Now, I'm going to do something to you that you might not like, but I seriously couldn't care less." The Charmander's quailed in fear. "What I'm going to do is this," He thought about it. This is going to hurt. "Sapphire, stand beside me."

Sapphire looked up at the human, but Night didn't look down.

"Now Sapphire!"

Sapphire sighed, and walked to Night's right side, still holding onto his cloak.

Night placed his right hand upon Sapphire's head, and continued. "I'm going to make you all feel every bit of Sapphire's fear and pain that you gave him today." Not a single Charmander moved. He concentrated, and felt the tingling in his right hand start, and in his head, he watched it all again, but this time from Sapphire's point of view, and with his emotions as well. He thrust it all into the fearfull Charmanders, and forced them to relive the event over again from Sapphire's point of view. They screeched, and fell forward, flopping about at the intensity of the link. Night stopped, and wavered slightly, his sight going dim for a moment after he broke the spell. He hadn't wanted to hurt them too badly, but he needed them to see what their 'Fun' had caused. He walked to the shield, and broke it, "Now leave. And If you Ever torture another again, the little spell I have on you will force you to feel their pain as if it were your own." This was a lie, but if it stopped them from torturing others, who'd blame him?

They got up and left, rushing through the low grass as fast as they could.

Sapphire looked up at Night, slightly apprehensive. Exactly what had he gotten himself into?

"C'mon Sapphire, lets go see Sceron. I want to leave here as soon as possible." He felt the Charmander nod against his hand, and he scratched Sapphire lightly, before realising what he was doing and stopped. The Charmander however, let out a sigh of disappointment as Night stopped the caress.

Night slowly walked out of the clearing that he had found Sapphire in, and blinked. He had no idea where upon the grounds he was. He looked behind him at Sapphire. "Uhhh ...... Sapphire?"

"Char?"

"Uhh ........ you wouldn't happen to know where Sceron's mansion is from here, would you?"

Sapphire Grinned a toothy smile, before replying. "Char, char-man-der Char." Nodding while he spoke.

"Great, you wanna show me?"

The slightly troubled, but happy Charmander took the lead, and turned the opposite way that Night had been going to head off in. Causing Night to blush, even though the Charmander didn't see it. Night watched the blue flame on Sapphire's tail. He thought it was kinda cool. He'd never seen a Charmander that was green before, or one that had a blue tail flame. Though he did remember seeing a fight with a Charizard that had a blue tail flame that was really powerfull! He blinked as a flock of Pidgey flew past his face, and restored him to staring back at the Charmander's tail flame. He still thought it looked cool though. He took the time on their walk to truly study his first pokemon. It was nothing like he thought it would be. It didn't look strong, he'd had to save it. It didn't look especially cute, but there was something about it that wouldn't leave him be. He blinked, what was it?

Night was lost in thought as he tried to figure out what the Charmander had that made him feel so different.

Sapphire was lost in thought also. He was apprehensive about meeting Sceron again. He was the first human that he'd tried to explore, with severly negative results. In fact, if he hadn't moved into this part of the fields, he doubted that Sceron would have kept him anymmore. Then he wouldn't have mit this newbie that wanted him as a starter Pokemon. Sapphire smiled, and looked up at the sky, and not watching his footing.

Sapphire tripped, and Night, watching his tail flame, saw it go up, and grabbed for it, forgetting about the tail flame and holding Sapphire in place. Night let the Charmander back down, and shook his hand thoroughly. It had felt soooo good to hold His tail like that.

Sapphire was going through a similar experience. He 'd never been held by his tail tip before, it was too hot for most Pokemon, but having the human hold him had sent a thrilling feeling racing through him. He sighed, feeling remarkably happy and giddy. His tail started to wave further from side to side.

Night noticed a rather tight sensation in his pants, and finally noticing that he had an errection from the grip, looked about to see if anyone was watching. Seeing no one, and no thing, he adjusted himself with a hot blush. He knew his eyes were red. His feeling of embarrasement was a heavy thing. He looked up from Sapphire's tail, and noticed that they were nearing Sceron's mansion. This caused him a moment of discomfort. How long had he been staring at Sapphire's tail flame? Two hours? Three? He jogged to the door, Sapphire keeping pace. He stopped before the door, and thought about what he was going to say. Feeling his rage fill him again as he thought about those Cruel Charmanders. He pushed the door open without touching it, and walked inside, searching for Sceron, followed by a now slightly frightened Charmander.

"Sceron. Sceron." a cough. "Hey Sceron, where are you?"

"Third Floor, Fourth door on the right, second door on the left." Came a weak reply

Night sprang up those stairs, and walked to the room specified by the directions, and found Sceron sitting in a chair facing the back of the fields. When Night entered, he saw something strange. Sceron was looking at him in fear, and not just the surprised kind either, this was the heart stopping, about to burst kind.

"What's wrong Sceron?"

"Y-Y-Y-YYyourrr eyes. Th-Th-they're BLACK!"

"Huh?"

Sceron just looked at him. What did he mean his eyes were black? He looked around, and spotted a mirror to the left of the door. he moved over to it, and stared at what he saw. His eyes were Black. Not just the outside of his eyes, where the normal colour changes occured, but the whites as well. He blinked, and moved closer. He couldn't even see a pupil. That scared him, and with that fear, his eyes changed to grey, and the whites returned. He moved back to Sceron, who was glad to see the colou change, even if he was scared.

"Thankyou Night, you truly scared me for a moment there."

"I Scared myself."

Sceron looked at him quizzically. "Why were your eyes black Night? I've never seen them like that before. What did it?"

Night thought about those Charmander's, and the rage they caused. "I think it's caused by my hate. I caught nine Charmanders torturing a tenth one, and it made me so pissed." He blinked, and calmed down. "Well, any way, I'm back here now hoping that you had a spare Pokeball that I could use. I'd be more than willing to pay for it, and for the Charmander as well."

Sceron looked curious, "What Charmander?"

"Sapphire, the one they were picking on."

No, it couldn't be, could it? "Where is this Charmander that you want?"

Night turned around, and seeing that Sapphire wasn't in the room, walked to the door, and stuck his head out, and found him standing just beside the door. "C'mon Sapphire, Sceron wants to see you." Sapphire looked up at him sadly, and responded with a "char."

Night walked back in, followed by Sapphire this time, and watched as Sceron's eyes bugged out, and his cheeks flushed. What now?

"YOU WANT THIS THING?!?" Sceron yelled.

What in the hells? "What do you mean thing?" He looked over to Sapphire, and saw that he was cringing in fear, and slowly backing out of the room. "I happen to like this Charmander, and if you don't want it here, then it's more than reasonable that you give it to me."

Sceron tried to calm down, and explain to Night what the situation was about this particular Charmander, but was interrupted as some incredibly hot blue embers floated around his face. "Hey"

Night looked back to Sapphire, and watched him open his mouth to do it again. "Sapphire, STOP!" Sapphire shut his mouth, and looked sad.

Sceron watched this exchange, and knew Night wouldn't be harmed. The Charmander, or Sapphire rather, looked like it's attempts had stopped with him. He'd got no complaints from visitors, nor from other Pokemon. Allright Sapphire, I wont tell him. "Night. There is one thing I need to ask you, is that all right?"

Night looked back to Sceron after making sure that Sapphire wouldn't try that again. "Sure."

"Are you gay?" He watched the Charmanders expression fall even further when it heard the question. Good.

Night looked at him oddly, "Huh?"

I hate Virgins, especially when they've got no idea what you're trying to say to them. "........... Are you a Homosexual?"

Now he was really confused. "What are you going on about Sceron?"

Oh, FUCK! "Do you like Boys, or Girls?" There, that should be simple enough.

Night frowns in puzzlement. "I don't know."

".............. Have you ever had a girlfriend, or a boyfriend?"

"No, but why do you care?"

"Look, you can have the Charmander if you want it, but I want to borrow it for a few minutes before I let you buy a Pokeball for it. Is that Okay?"

Night looked to Sapphire, who seemed apprehensive, but willing. " 'k, But he has to come back unharmed, and I get a minor discount on any ball I want."

"How much of a discount?"

"Two percent."

"Deal." He said with a happy grin.

"Go on Sapphire, I'll be waiting out here for you. 'k?"

Sapphire nodded, and went through the door that Sceron pointed to.

"Back in a moment or two." Sceron walked to the open door, but stopped, and leaned over to the shelves beside it. He picked up a small black earing, and placed it in his ear, he then went through the door to talk to Sapphire.

Night watched the door close. "Funny questions, wonder why he picked that thing up?" Maybe it was just something he liked. Night was puzzled for a moment. He said that he wanted to talk to Sapphire, what does he mean by talk? We can't speak their language, and apart from a few rare cases, they can't speak ours. He heard some soft murmurring, and a few loud Chaaaar's. Best not to think about it. He heard a chink, and looked down, barely muffling a surprised yelp. There, sitting upon the floor, was the flame shaped pendant that he had made today. He reached into the pocket that he had placed it in, and his finger tips rubbed against a slim, charred opening. The damned thing had burnt it's way through his pocket. He reached down and picked it up before it burnt it's way through Sceron's wood paneling. He'd kill him if it scorched it while he was there. He felt the soft warmth of it as it rested in his palm. How in the hells was he going to keep it? He stared into the shimmering red and orange flames. Not good. He heard a rather high pitched Chaar from the room, followed by a sound that suspiciously resembled a slap.

"Sapphire? You allright in there?"

The door opened, and Sceron stuck his head out, "Everything's fine!" This was followed by another high Chaar, and the sound of something breaking. Sceron frowned, "What do you mean he touched you?"

Night blinked, What?

"Allright Sapphire, stop clawing at my leg, you can go back to him." Sceron moved away from the door, allowing a very teary eyed Charmander through it.

Sapphire ran to Night, and stood before him, shaking, blue tears running down his green scales. Night glared at Sceron as his rage ignited. This was HIS Pokemon, and NO ONE was ever going to hurt it again!

Sceron wisely backed away from Night when he saw his eyes change to full black. "Easy there Night, he was getting hysterical, so I slapped him. That's all it was, I swear."

"If that was all it was, he wouldn't be crying. Tell me the truth, or I'll get very physical with you Sceron." Growled Night.

Sceron sighed, "I can't tell you that. He'll tell you when he's ready, but he's made it very clear to me that he doesn't want me to tell you before he does."

Night blinked, and his eyes changed to a muddy purple to show his confusion. "I don't get it."

"Neither do I, but trust me when I say that this Charmander here will be loyal to the end."

Damn it all. "This counts as harm against my Pokemon. Understand Sceron?"

Sceron nodded. "That's Okay, you can have any ball you want, except a Master ball. They're mine no matter what."

"Well, where are they?"

Sceron chuckled. "Follow me, they're just accross the hall from here." Sceron opened the door to the hall, turned right, opened the door that they had come through, and opened the door opposite it. Night was Dazzled by the sight inside. Hundreds, if not thousands, of Pokeballs lined row upon row, upon row of shelves. Even Sapphire was impressed.

"Any one that I want?"

sigh, "Yes, any one that you want."

Goody. "Sapphire, go pick a ball that you like, but stay away from the master balls, 'k?"

"Chaar!" Sapphire dashed off to pick a ball for himself.

Sapphire wandered up and down the rows, pausing occaisionally before finally spotting one that he liked, and thought that maybe Night would like as well. It matched his scales almost perfectly, so he should like it. He stopped and blushed again, Night's not like that, you heard it yourself. He doesn't know what he likes. . . . . maybe I could teach him? The Charmander purred happily at the thought of teaching Night how to breed. A very Evil smile over came the Charmander. I'd be his first, and I'd be able to show him everything that a Loving Poke can do for his trainer, But how to do it? He frowned. That was the question. With those powers of his he wouldn't be able to do a thing. He wouldn't even be able to get close enough to do anything. There's got to be some way to dampen his abilities, but how? He took the Emerald studded ball back to Night, lost in thought.

"Wow, neat ball!" Sceron grimaced when he saw what the Charmander had. Night, noticing the grimace was curious. "What? You said any ball I wanted, didn't you?"

"Yes I did, but that one ball alone is worth three thousand gold pieces! That's gonna set me back heaps! Please Night, if you have any pity in you, you'll leave it here, and choose another one, please!"

Night looked at him. Then looked at Sapphire. He was sad, but understood, and he turned around to put the ball back, but was stopped by a hand wrapped around his tail tip. Both shuddered in pleasure, and it took longer this time for Night to let go. It was just too damned Good!

"No, I want this ball for Sapphire." Sceron nodded, already calculating the losses of this one gift. "and I want ten normall Pokeballs, and a selection of a few others too." Sceron stared at him. "I'll be paying for all of them, full Price." All misgivings that Sceron had went blip as they evaporated at the words full price.

"Do you have the Creds for it all?"

As a response, Night showed Sceron his left Wrist. It had a small scar in the under side of it, and what looked like a tiny black circle. "I was given a cred chip when I was four. My parents left me with quite abit of spare cash. If you have a reader, I'd prefer it this way then going to a transac and coming back with tons of coins."

Sceron blinked, He was rich enough to have a cred chip added? He felt like he didn't know him at all! When was he so Rich? Other than the eyes, he acted just like any other normal person. "Hang on, I've got an old scanner around here somewhere. It only goes up to seven digits, but that should be more than enough." He rumaged around in the desk behind him, shifting stuff left and right, before grabbing what looked like a huge red stick.

That was his scanner? Apparently so, because Sceron motioned for him to show his left wrist, and the scanner scanned his chip, and the entire thing lit up like a freakin' Nova! Sceron almost dropped it when he read the display.

"Night, Look at this please." He showed the readout screen to Night, and he was a little surprised, but not as much as Sceron. All seven spaces were lit up by red nines and a little plus sign in the top right hand corner.

"yeah, so?"

Sceron Scowled. "This means that you probably have enough creds stored away to buy every single pokemon in the world! For all I know, you have enough creds to declare yourself the king of the frigging planet!" Sceron sighed. Don't bother, he's too much of a good guy. Nice to dream though, oh well. "Seriously though Night, pick what you want, and I'll give it to you, for it's price of course." He grinned happily, to think, Night was possibly the richest person alive, and he was getting his first Pokemon, plus a stock of Pokeballs from his Breeding fields. It just made you wanna melt with happiness.

Night looked at Sceron oddly, it was starting to get really dark now, and he was going mental over a readout? Time to go, whether he had his stuff or not. "Sapphire, grab what you've got, and ...."

"Chaar!"

Night looked down, somewhat shocked. Right infront of him was Sapphire, and his little arm were overloaded with Pokeballs! "Uhh, can I have a look at your selection there Sapphire?"

"Chaaar." He held his little bundle up higher. He was glad that he'd thought of getting the balls while Night was busy. It gave him such a nice warm feeling.

Night blinked as he reached for the balls. He couldn't be certain, but he could swear that Sapphire's tail flame was bigger, and of a deeper shade of blue than it was before. He shrugged it off as mind tricks and picked up a few to see what he had. His brow furrowed, well this was interresting. He placed the ten normal Pokeballs to the side, and sifted throught the others. There was one that was black, and had Black Opals embedded in it's surface. Another was Silver, with some type of white crystal coating it. The Emerald ball, and a Ruby, and Sapphire studded pair of balls. The second last one was strange. It seemed to change depending upon how you looked at it. Cool. He put it down, and looked to the last ball, and got a little sad. It was one of the famous Master balls that everyone craved. Well, he might as well try. "Ummm Sceron?"

Sceron woke from his daydreams of grandeur and fame. "Huh?"

"You know how you said I couldn't have a Master ball?"

"Yeeaahh...."

"Well, can I have one? I'll pay what you want for it, but only if it's within reason."

Dollar signs flashed through his mind. "Tell you what, I'll charge you Five hundred thousand for the entire lot, and I'll chuck in my translator that I use for the Fields, Deal?" Sceron held his breath, whispering mentally over and over again, pleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease.

He blinked "You're not trying to rip me off here, are you Sceron?"

Sceron cringed, "No, of course not Night. God knows what you'd do to me if I ever cheated you." He gulped.

"Good. Well then, I don't see a reason why I shouldn't give you the Five hundred thousand." So saying, Night raised his arm, wrist outward and waited for him to scan it. It had now reached full dark by the time that he was finished scanning. Great, a walk home at night ... he stopped that thought. They didn't want him back, not for a week at least. So what was he to do? "Uhhh Sceron, could I ask you a few things before I leave Derank? Please?"

"Sure Night, if I can help, I'll help."

"Well, could you point me in the direction of the nearest town from here?"

"You mean Goldburn?"

"I guess ..."

"Yeah, sure. Just keep following the Road. It winds around the hill a few times, but it's the safest path there, but no matter what, you must NOT stray from the path. Understood?"

"Yeah, but why can't I leave the path?"

"Lets just say it's because strange things tend to go on in the woods, and if you're a novice, or not truly prepared, you could get hurt, or killed. Okay?"

"Yeah, thanks Sceron." He paused a moment. "One more thing before I go?"

"Yeah Sure!"

"How does the translator work?"

"OH! Yeah, Yeah the translator." He unclipped the black earing from his ear and showed it to Night. "You see this? It's the translator. I don't know exactly how it works, something about stimulating sympathetic brain waves or something" He shrugged. "It was made by Several Alakazams and Gardevoir. They were all working upon the form, design, and the basic layout for the circuitry." Sceron sighed. "Though they never could get it to resist water. Getting it wet will short out the circuitry. So stay out of the rain, Okay?"

"Yeah sure. I only want it so I can talk to Sapphire and any other pokemon that I meet." Night grinned, Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all? He held out his hand for the earing, and Sceron promptly dropped it into his open palm. They both watched in surprise as the earing changed from black, to silver. " ........ " "Has that ever happened before?"

"No, never." Said a surprised Sceron. Well anyway, you should get going if you want to get anywhere close to Goldburn tonight."

Night hung his head. "Yeah, you're right." He put the earing on his left ear, then held his hand out to Sceron, who shook it. "Thanks for everything Sceron, I don't know if I'll be seeing you again any time soon, but thanks for the help."

Sceron smiled, then turned his head at the compliments. "It was nothing Night. Now get going, and remember. Stay on the path."

Night nodded, and picked up the assortment of Pokeballs. Placing them into a backpack he saw lying next to the set of drawers that Sceron had gone searching through. He stopped, looking sheepish. His eyes turned to a light pink as he looked at Sceron. "Can I have the bag too?"

"He he, sure Night, I won't change the price."

"Thanks again Sceron." He finished placing the balls into the bag, leaving Sapphire's ball out for him. He nodded to Sapphire and moved towards the door. "Let's go Sapphire, I'm gonna show you something special when we get abit further out of town."

"Wow. Really? What is it?"

Night stopped, then turned around and stared at Sapphire.

"What?" Sapphire turned around, and looked himself over, before looking back up at Night. "I didn't do something wrong, did I?" Realisation dawned upon the little Poke. "You can understand me?"

Night nodded slowly, then was hugged by a rush of grren scaled Pokemon.

Sapphire hugged night with a tremendus amount of strength. He was so happy to talk to Night now. "So .. " He looked up into Night's brown eyes. "What were you going to show me?"

"Umm nothing." He squirmed under the Pokemon. I'm lying on my wings Here! "Can you get off now?"

Sapphire looked down cast. "Sure, sorry Night." He rolled over and stood up beside Night.

Meanwhile Sceron has been watching the display, and was slightly troubled by it, but seeing as night didn't do anything about the position that he was in, he let it go. He walked over to Night, and gave him a hand up. "Weren't you going somewhere?"

Night blinked. "Uhh yeah ... C'mon Sapphire, lets go already."

"Coming." He walked over to Sceron when Night had walked out of sight. "Chaarr"

Sceron didn't know what he said, but he thought he knew, and patted his head reluctantly. "You're welcome."

Sapphire nodded, and raced out the door, and caught up with Night as he was starting to head out the front door.

"Glad you could make it Sapphire, I didn't really want to leave you behind." He grinned, his eyes a happy tangerine. He opened his bag, and Brought out Sapphire's Emerald ball. Enlarging it, he tossed it to Sapphire, who caught it, and was surprised to be sucked into it. Night grinned as the ball hardly moved at all, then went to pick it up when the capture light fadded, and was surprised when Sapphire burst out of his ball, and tackled him with an angry Growl.

"Why did you just do that?" He growled into Night's surprised face.

He blinked alittle, his eyes going green with his nervousness. "Well, you're my Pokemon, aren't you Sapphire? So, shouldn't you have a Pokeball to call home?" His shoulders were starting to scream from the weight he was putting on his wings.

Sapphire swiped his paw at the air, dimissing the explanation. "I don't mind that, it's just that you threw it at me without asking or telling me before hand." He growled, and got up from Night, for the second time. This is starting to become a habit, he thought. Sapphire blushed, and turned his head at the thought that that produced.

Night, luckily for Sapphire, didn't notice the Blush, and leaned up to Appologise to Sapphire, but on his way up, he noticed that Sapphire had a small erection. He blushed, and got up quickly, rearanging the tightness in his pants as well. He leaned down, and picked up the ball, carefull to avoid facing Sapphire's front. "Sapphire, I'm sorry. I should have asked before hand. I was just too happy about having a Pokemon that could talk to me to think properly." He very carefully hugged Sapphire, and was surprised when he was hugged back with enthusiasm.

Sapphire hugged his wonderful trainer. He wasn't really that mad, not really. He just wanted him to learn that Pokemon had feelings too. They weren't just walking toy's that other people thought they were. When he hugged Night, and inadvertantly humped into him, he realised that he had a hard on, and that Night wasn't moving away. Now this clould get interresting, but not right now. He sighed mentally. Don't push it. "So, are we going to Goldburn or not?"

Night blinked, and realised he was hugging a Charmander with an erection, and was liking this type of affection. He frowned. Since when did he like huggs? He sighed, and got up from the semi-crouch he was in. Sapphire whined when he moved. "I know/ I was starting to like it too. But we need to get going, or we'll never leave Derank tonight." He started walking to the front gate, with Sapphire following close behind.

They turned Left when they reached the front gate, and walked out onto the path that would eventually take them to Goldburn.

I Know, this isn't really the best place to cut off the story, but if I didnt do it here, I'd just keep writing. -_-
Well, for those of you that like the story, leave a message, and if you can make any suggestions to improve my writing, I'll gladly read them. ^-^
