Memories (Part 2)

Another Memory chapter. This probably will be boring, like the last one, but it sheds more light onto Kuso's life. Also, just to say it, I have thought through to the end of the series, and I have in the back of my mind how it's gonna end. Just got to build up to it, ya know?
-----

Your eyes open slowly, revealing the dark room around you. You look down, seeing that Ele has moved off of your chest, and was purring happily beside you. There's a content look on her face. `She must be having a really good dream.
...
Heh, gotta go to the bathroom`. You slowly slip off the end of the bed, not to disturb her. She rustles a little when you are out of reach, but drifts right back to a deep sleep. You look down at the ground, finding the sweatpants, and putting them back on. You stealthily open the door, and slip out into the hallway. You go two doors down to the left, and open the door.

You lock the door, and walk over to the toilet. You pull down the front of the pants, and start to do your business. As your body is relived, your mind starts to wander...
---

My eyes opened, and the pain almost instantly returned to my body. That painful tang of my scorched flesh, I can remember it almost perfectly. I couldn't move, I could barely move my eyes without my body hurting. I looked around, seeing that I was not at the den anymore. I was up against a tree in a fetal position. It was barely light, so I didn't know if it was dawn or dusk. Also I was wondering where that Arcanine was. He was most likely the one that brought me this far away from the den. But, why didn't he kill me? And why am I here, 'cause if he thought I was already dead, why bring me here? I tried to stand up, but to no avail. I couldn't even get to where my feet were under my body. I just lay there, waiting for nothing particular. A pikachu, an eevee, something, anything. Hell, I would even give thanks to having a trainer show up now.

The light expanded, revealing the bright morning glow. There were a few leaves on top of me, but I didn't dare brush them off from the fear of pain. After about two hours after I regained consciousness, I started to hear footsteps. Faint at first, but then they started getting closer and louder. Only a pair, not four. Either a human or humanoid pokemon, whatever it was, I didn't care. I cried "help" as loud as I could, but it mostly came out a raspy cry.

"Is there someone there?", I heard the person say. I didn't know this then, but it was a human girl that was saying it. Long blond hair, put into one long ponytail, and regular red trainer duds.

"Help", I tried saying again, and this time she heard me. I could hear the footsteps close to where I was. She was behind me, so I couldn't see her.

"Where are you?", she asked under her breath. I replied with another squeak, and that one didn't even sound like a word. "Oh my god...", I heard her say. I felt the leaves on me get brushed off, and hands put around me. My body flared up with a sting, so I instinctively let out another squeak. The hands let go and retracted surprisingly quickly. I heard footsteps go around my head, and I got my first good look at her. She squatted down and looked into my eyes. She had deep green eyes, the kind you can look into for infinity if so obliged. I tried to make my eyes as, uh, puppy-like as possible, mostly just to feel sorry for me. "What happened to you...", she asks, flipping the bag on her back to the front. She rummages through it, and pulls out a little gold and white spray bottle. She points it at me, and I close my eyes, preparing for the worst. `I know now that that was a Full Restore, but back then I didn't know what it was, hence my reaction`. The spray hits my body, making the burns sting again. I squeal in pain again, and she stops. "That's odd...", she says, taking the bottle and putting it back into the bag. `The weird thing (if you can't guess it) is that it didn't heal my wounds at all`. She rummaged through her bag again, and pulled out something that I still don't know what it is. It was a purple berry, with 3 spikes that turned to red at the ends. "Here, eat this...", she says, putting the berry in front of my face. I sniffed it, no aroma. I remember thinking, what else was gonna happen, so I took the biggest bite I could out of the berry. All of the sudden, my head started hurting...
...badly.

I squealed out again, and she just takes the fruit, and puts it in a little container. The headache was almost as bad as the Flamethrower attack before it. It was so bad, I lost consciousness.
_________
My eyes opened to a white wall. I found that I was on a little tray thing, under a blanket. I didn't dare to move. I wasn't in any mood to be writhing in pain anytime soon. I just sat there, staring at the wall. Then... things started going through my head... bad things... things about Ken... Laura... and Mom...

`GAH! Don't wanna think about that...` Well, I started crying anyways. "Aww, poor thing.", I heard from the door. I tried looking over, but got a painful sting in my neck. But before I put my head down, I saw who said it. (Nurse Joy. I ain't gonna waste your time with meaningless descriptions.) She walked over in front of me, and looked into my eyes. I tried to stop crying, but it just made me look more pathetic. "Come now...", she said, wiping the tears out of my eyes with a finger. "Lets get you fixed up.", she said, giving me a broad smile. I tried to return it, but it must have looked more like some cruel grimace. She quickly grabs the tray under me, and lifts it, and me, up. She walks towards the door at the foot of the table. It pushes open like, well, a swinging door. She took a right down a hallway, kept walking down, twisting and turning every few corridors; I couldn't understand how she knew where she was going.

Eventually she stops in front of a door, balances me on her right arm, pushing it open with her left. As soon as I saw that machine, it sent chills down my spine. It was a large cylinder, with a hole about 4 feet in diameter. But that was not what scared me. It was the needles. There were roughly 200 little pointy needles pointing strait towards the little conveyer belt in bottom of the cylinder. She walked towards the machine, and set me and the tray on the track. I thought of making a break for it, but I thought against it. Even if I tried, I wouldn't get very far with my body in this bad of a condition. She walked over to the side of the machine, and pressed a few buttons on it.

The machine started to whurr, making an ungodly humming sound. I closed my eyes, praying to god that I wasn't gonna die. The conveyer belt started, and I felt myself move towards the metal deathtrap. The humming grew louder, and it started to ring in my ears. I felt an odd tingling go through my spine as the hum goes right over me, and stops. I clench my eyes as I feel all of my body flare up. It felt as thought someone was smacking and punching my burns. I squealed out, hoping that, if that woman was a decent one, she would stop. She didn't and the burning kept coming. Finally, it stops, and I let out a long sigh of relief. The pain was gone, finally stopped. I swore that as soon I was better, I was gonna maul that bitch. When I came out the other side, she joined me there. "I know that thing hurts a lot, but why don't you try standing up?", she says, smiling (animeishly) at me. I remember thinking, whatever, and I tried. I rolled onto my legs, no pain. Stood up, no pain. Walked a few feet, no pain. "That machine is made for the worst wounds, and it only works if you're awake. I'm sorry, if I could have, I would have done it when you were asleep." She put a hand on my head, and curled a nail around my right ear. I smiled as she did this. `It felt good, no one can do it like Nurse Joy`. (Go ahead, make some perverted joke.)

Well, she picked me up, and brought me out to the front desk, and set me down on the counter. I just took a seat on the table, watching her. She picked up a plastic looking tube, `Phone` and pushed a few buttons on the thing she picked it up from `Receiver`.
"Hi, this is Nurse Joy."
...
"Yes, he's fine. He's sitting here on the desk next to me."
...
"Sure you can. I don't think he has anywhere else to go."
...
"Ok, see you in a few minutes.", Joy finishes, and hangs up the phone. "Well, Nancy will be here in a few minutes. When she gets here, you can go with her. Sorry, but you can't stay here. Not enough room.", she says with another smile. I just nod, and lay on the counter, facing the door. The one thing she said kept going through my head. "I don't think he has anywhere else to go." I shook off the words and looked around the place. From the desk, it was about 20 feet to a clear double-door. The walls were pink with vertical strips. There were some people walking around, sitting on cushions, chairs, whatever.

The door opened, and I looked up, cutting my thoughts. There she was, that girl again. She walked up to the counter, and said "hi" to the nurse. "I hope he wasn't any trouble.", she said, smiling at me. I just grunted and put my head down. I closed my eyes as they continued their conversation. "So, do I take him, or what?", the girl asks.

"Well, I guess that's up to him. You said you found him like you gave him to me, right?"

"Yeah, what about it?"

"I know he can understand us, so come over here...", the nurse says, and she walks to the other end of counter. I looked over at them when they did this. The two get their heads close as the nurse says something I can't make out, but I can guess.

"Oh, I guess that makes sense...", the blond says loud enough for me to hear.

"But, lets leave the final answer to him.", the pink haired lady says, walking back over to me. She puts a little black device on her ear with the letters "D.C." on it. "Pooch, do you want to go with this girl, or go back into the wild?", she asks, smiling lightly. After a small amount of internal conflict, I said "sure". `I can't remember what it was that convinced me, but it must have been absolute`. The nurse then turned to the girl and said, "He says yes."

"Really?", she asks.

"Yep.", the nurse says. The girl with blond hair then knelt down, eye level with me. She looked into my eyes and vice-versa. She then took a hand and rubbed behind my left ear. It felt good, but not as good as the nurse, but I didn't complain.

"My name is Nancy. And I guess I'm gonna be your new trainer.", she says, smiling.

I absent-mindedly replied, "Mines Kuso." That was idiotic, she couldn't understand me. But just then, the pink haired girl relayed what I said.

"So, I need to put you in a pokeball, is that ok?", she asks, reaching to her belt. I quickly shook my head. I've heard how bad and cramped those are, and I really would rather not. "Alright, I guess that's ok.", she says, looking up at the nurse. She nods. "I really need to go home, can we go?", Nancy asks. I nod again. She picks me up and nestles me in her arm. `What did she think I was, retarded?`. She turns and starts to walk out towards the door.

"Nancy, wait a second...", says the nurse. Nancy turns and looks. "You should take one of these.", she said, walking up to her and putting something in her hand. It was one of those black things the nurse had in her ear.

"Thanks.", Nancy said above me, and goes through the door. I close my eyes to rest. The light bob of her walk was soothing. I don't know how long it took before we got there, but eventually I hear the click of a key, and a door open in front of me. I open my eyes and look over the room. Plain as you can think. A brown couch facing a TV, with a small table in between them. A hallway goes back out of sight, leading to her bedroom. She sets me down on the couch and walks into the back room. I just sit there, taking it all in. Well, yesterday, I was happy, with my family, today, their all... dead... and I'm here. The memories of the day before are stirring inside of me. I tried to hold back the tears, but to no avail. They came down my cheeks as I closed my eyes, just letting myself cry. It would just make it more painful if I tried to stop.

In a few minutes, Nancy comes back. Her hair was down, and she was in a large T-shirt and shorts. As soon as she came in, she stopped and looked at me, the little pile of gray and black fluff crying on her sofa. "Hey, what's wrong?", she asked, kneeling down next to me. I just shook my head left to right and put it back down. She just stood back up and walked into the back room. She came back moments later with the little black thing. She hooked it around her ear just like the nurse, and asked again, "C'mon, what's wrong". She sat down next to me on the couch, and she put her arm around me.

I barely managed to say, "You wouldn't understand...", softly.

"You'd be surprised.", she said smiling.

I shook my head again. "I'm not gonna tell you, please, just leave me alone...", I replied.

"Ok, sorry.", she says. She sits back and turns on the TV. After a few minutes of flipping through the different channels, she just turns it off. "Nothing good...", she says, getting up. I stand up and follow her. She walks down the hall way and into the room on the right, and I follow. She holds the door open for me until I get in, then she shuts it. She sat on the bed, and I jumped up on it. `I had been cleaned in the pokemon center`. She had lain down on the bed, and I laid down against her right leg. I drifted off to sleep.` In the following days, she took me into the Woods and trained. I never saw anyone I knew. Never. I started to forget things. Friends, events, places, but never, NEVER did I forget that night`...
---

*KNOCK KNOCK* It was at the door. "Shit", you say under your breath. You finished going a while ago, so you've just been standing there. You pull up the front of the pants and walk over to the door. You unlatch it and open it. "Sorry I took so long...", you say, closing your eyes in an embarrassed manner. Then, you feel something sharp go into your neck. You open your eyes and shoot them strait at the area in question. There was a needle sticking out of it, empty. It starts to get blurry, along with everything around you. You look forward and see a guy in a black outfit standing there.

"Nighty-Night.", he says softly as you collapse to the floor, losing consciousness.
