The girls slowly made there way back to Shimmer and Hounder. "There you are what took so long?" Shimmer asked with a panicked expression. "Sorry mum" Cindy says as they all looked apologetic, they all decided it was best that Shimmer didn't know. By this time the sun had completely gone down and they herd Viney and Liz approaching. When Hounder herd his mother he opened his eyes "is that my mum" he asked trying to stand up but was still to weak. "Hounder stay still, you need to save your energy" Shimmer says still covering him with her tails. When Liz finally got into the clearing she was smiling at Viney but when she looked over and saw Hounder her expression instantly changed to horror. "What happened to my baby?" She yells out rushing to him. Mindy walks up slowly and gets ready to explain but Hounder beryl got in before her. "We were playing by a lake... and me and Cindy fell in, its no big deal I'm just a bit cold" Hounder said weak and tired. Liz stood there she wanted to yell at someone but didn't have anyone to yell at. "Liz, have you ever used a fire attack to keep him warm?" Shimmer asked. "Of course I have... why?" Liz asked in a much calmer voice as she sat down. "Well I was using it to keep Hounder warm, but its tiring, do you think you could for a bit?" Shimmer asked holding back a yawn. Liz just started right away "shimmer let me know if it starts to hurt," she says in between burst of flames. "No problem" Shimmer says trying to stay awake. This continued all through the night but they did make their way into the den. Mindy spent the night pretending to be asleep because she couldn't relax knowing of the condition Hounder was in.
In the morning Lindy and Cindy woke up with a large yawn so Mindy copied. "Morning girls... do you think you can find your own breakfast" Shimmer said trying to keep awake. Shimmer had insisted that Liz got some sleep during the night but was awake an hour later. "Morning Liz... Hounder is fine, but I'm starving. Think you could get us some food?" Shimmer asked trying to look as awake and alert as she could. "Sure, what do you want?" Liz asks walking to the dens entrance. "Rattata... that's all were allowed to have when it comes to pray" Shimmer says with her head dipping, as she almost full's asleep. Liz walks out looking from left to right until another Ninetales comes running up to her. "Hi I'm Nartholis, have you seen Shimmer?" Nartholis asks happily. "Um, who are you" Liz asked. "I'm her father" Nartholis said with a wag of his tales. "Well I'm catching breakfast, want to come? I'll get Shimmer after" Liz asked with a wag of her tail. "That sounds lovely" Nartholis said as he followed Liz into the bushes. Half an hour later Liz and Nartholis returned and quickly started a fire to cook the food, at the smell the three Poochy girls came running and sat by the food not saying a word but having there tails wag at tremendous speed, Shimmer slowly got out with Hounder in her mouth and put him down and curled her tails around him. "Shimmer... it's really you" Nartholis said almost shocked when he saw her. "Hi there, who are you" Shimmer said with a yawn. "I'm... forgive me I'm your father" Nartholis said with his head hanging down. "You're my father" Shimmer replied shocked, "but... mum was a Vulpix, how old are you" she continued interested by the sudden appearance of someone claming to be her father. "I'm... well I'm nine hundred plus, I'd rather not be specific" Nartholis said still with a hanging down head. "But how could you do that to someone so young!" Shimmer almost yelled. "Well she was my first and physically we were the same age and... I loved her," Narthollis said slowly lifting his head. "But why didn't you protect her... when... when the man took us" Shimmer said almost crying. "Look I'm sorry he stole her when I was out hunting... I never meant to, I also did try to find you but I ended up on the council," Nartholis said in a pleading voice. "Your on the council... then why are you here" Shimmer asked expecting him of lying. "Because I chose your mate to have the symbol... but he's doing something quite important so he convinced the council that you may look after it" Nartholis said retuning Shimmers deep stair. "Ok then, give it" Shimmer said walking up to him. "Ok" Nartholis said, then his eyes turned a glowing white and black writing was appearing all over him then coming off like pulling string out your hair, the streamers then went to Shimmer and landed on her in the exact same location and shape, her eyes then also glowed white like Nartholis and then both slowly stopped glowing. "That was a rush" Shimmer said half stunned. They all sat around silently until the food was ready, Shimmer Liz and Nartholis took turns keeping Hounder warm. After they were done eating Mindy approached Nartholis. "Excuse me Mr. Nartholis... your real old right" Mindy asked. "Yes... I suppose I am" Nartholis said with a chuckle. "Then do you know how to help Hounder?" Mindy said with a glimpse of hope in her eyes. "Maybe but I need to know what's wrong" Nartholis told Mindy. Mindy explained what happened to Hounder but had to stop a few times to keep herself from crying. "Oh, I know how to fix that but it's a bit dangerous and since he's showing no improvement I think I'll have to" Nartholis said now facing Hounder. "Please do... I can't lose him," Liz then said standing up and walking to Nartholis. "Ok then" Nartholis said going to Hounder. "Hounder... Hounder wake up" Nartholis said gently nudging him. Hounder opened his eyes and slowly lifted his head. "Hounder listen carefully, your body is not able to maintain its temperature so we tried to keep you warm, that didn't work so now we need to try something else" Nartholis slowly explained. Hounder first yawned before speaking "ok, what should I do?" Hounder asked shivering. "Exhale as much air as you can... then when you fell my breath over your mouth slowly breath in, I will use a Flame Thrower like Shimmer and Liz have been. You need to breath in as much as you can, but as soon as it hurts close your mouth tight" Nartholis continued to explain.
"Ok" Hounder said slowly nodding as he blew as much air out his lungs as he could. Liz started to pace, she didn't want to watch since she just found out her little boy is dieing. Mindy got as close as she could as she watched with tears in her eyes and Shimmer and the other two girls watched form a distance. Nartholis slowly begun to breath and Hound even slower begun to inhale, then a small stream of fire went from Nartholis mouth into Hounder's, Hounder endured the burning feeling until his lungs were full of air so his closed his mouth shut. After a few moments Hounder stopped shivering as much but was still to weak to get up. Nartholis repeated the process sevral more items until Hounder fell asleep without shivering a bit. "No my baby" Liz said as she noticed Hound falling asleep. "shhh... that's good, he's warmed up on the inside and is comfortable enough to sleep" Nartholis explained calmly. "Thank you so much" Liz said with tears in her eyes. "No problem, do you think I could spend time with my little girl" Nartholis said smiling at Shimmer. "Ok I'll look after the pups" Liz said smiling then Shimmer and Nartholis ran off.
Nartholis and Shimmer spent the rest of the day talking. Nartholis told Shimmer the story of how he met her mother, and how he spent years searching for them after they were taken. He only found her a few years after she was with Angle and she seemed so happy he left her. He then told her how he got on the council and all the duties she and Angle will now have. Shimmer told her father about her life, all the big battles she had, all the good times all the bad and the funny story of how she evolved and the time she caught a highly fatal disease but was barely saved by Angle. By the time they were done catching up they were at the river next to the rock Angel use to call home. "Shimmer there is something else you should know... I will be one thousand years old in six days," Nartholis said mournfully. "So your going to die in six days... but that not fair, I finally met my father, I always wanted one you can't leave so soon" Shimmer said sadly and in whiney voice. Two hours after Shimmer and Nartholis left Hounder woke up. He awoke in the den and heard the Poochy girls out side he slowly raised to his feet and walked outside slowly. "Hi, is there anything to eat" Hounder said when he saw the girls playing and Liz napping. Mindy herd Hounder's voice and turned instantly she ran as fast as she could and stopped millimeters from him, this sudden stop made Hounder full back into a sitting position. "Is there anything you need" Mindy asked with a smile. "Um... food" Hounder said unsure of Mindy's behavior. "Ok Rattata or berries?" Mindy asked. "ummm... Rattata if it not to much trouble" Hounder asked feeling a little uncomfortable having Mindy so close. "Ok" Mindy said happily and runs off to find one. Cindy and Lindy approached Hounder after Mindy was gone. "Hounder... I'm real sorry I made you full into the water" Cindy said apologetically. "Its ok... I'm sorry for kissing you" Hounder resounded. "Don't be... it was an accident I was only pretending to be upset," Cindy said with a faint smile. "Do you know what's wrong with your other sister" Hounder asked still wondering why Mindy acts so strange around him. "I got no idea but its funny" Cindy said still smiling. "I think she likes you... a lot," Lindy said still feeling a bit shy near Hounder. "Likes me! Cool" Hounder said in his head. Liz woke up shortly after Mindy left and after asking Hounder if he's all right fifty times decided it's probly best to give him some space. "I'm just going for a drink and then to see Viney quickly ok" Liz Asked. "Sure mum we'll be fine" Hounder said, glad to get some time with the Poochy sisters, as his mother left. Twenty minute later they herd Mindy screaming and running to them, Mindy burst through the bushes and ran behind Hounder for protection. "What's wrong Mindy" Hounder asked trying to sound brave. Then a Raticate also burst through the bushes and growled at the four stoping about ten feet away. "That is" Mindy said shaking a bit. "I'll deal with him," Hounder said stepping forward and preparing to fight. Raticate pounces forward at five times his natural speed and hits Hounder head on with a Quick Attack. Hounder managed to land on his paws and counter with a Ember attack that barley hit the Raticate. The Raticate turned and charged Hounder who panicked and wasn't going to doge until Cindy and Lindy Attack the Raticat with a double Bite Attack on either arm and Mindy used tackle to knock him away. "aww screw this, don't ever come alone again you blasted mutt" The Raticate said pointing at Mindy and rubbing its chest and then ran away. Mindy went up to Hounder and sat next to him even though he was still ready to fight. "Thank you for saving me Hounder that was real brave" Mindy said as she slowly rested her tail around his back leg. Cindy and Lindy did a fake cough because they helped but Lindy gave Cindy a nudge and they went into the den because Lindy thinks she knows what Mindy is doing. "ohh it was you who saved me" Hounder said not understanding how he saved her. "Oh no... you distracted him for me and my sister to get into place and you so bravely took that attack head on and you were about to do it again" Mindy said slowly leaning on Hounder side. "You really mean it, I just wanted to keep you safe" Hounder said sitting down and leaning back on Mindy. Mindy then yawned "want to take a nap?" she asked Hounder. "Ok he said as he laid down, but before he could get comfortable Mindy rolls up by his stomach and rest her head on his front paws. Hounder didn't know where to put his head except for onto of Mindy's he tried several spots but none were comfortable so he decided that if Mindy gets angry he'll just keep saying sorry until she forgives him and with that he rest his head and falls asleep with a small but obvious smile. Liz returned five minutes later with Viney but noticed the two sleeping, she just smiled and went over to the other side of the clearing and continued to chat quietly to Viney.
