SHK ep 13 - 21 : Recruitment Drive by yin

Crystal Chronicles

SHK 13: Crystal Chronicles

"I think its time to check up on this little surprise we got," said a small figure in the shadow, his voice rather tenor and pleasing to the airs.
"I don't know... I know she saw the three of us," another more female voice replied.
"What are you worried about wish catcher?" jeered the third pink figure.
"I still don't think it's right for us to have done that."
"Come on superdome, have fun with this."
"Don't make fun of my head you, you forest creature."
The pink figure snickers. "You haven't gotten down the insult thing after all these years?"
"... You two are awful sometimes."

******BEGIN THOUGHT PROBE******

"Crystal the Eevee, please come forward," said the chairman for the naming ceremonies, Master Seneca. I slowly rose to my feet and made my way across the stage, casting fleeting glances into the crowd. "Maybe Yin would be around... but then there is his therapy..." I thought. Looking out there, I saw no sign of Yin... or Connie for that matter.

Glancing a third time, I saw Menkaure and my heart just sank. Menkaure was cheering for me but it was because of her new Rocket plan she mentioned that everything changed... Yi n was acting different. Not as defiant, not as badass. Hell, his darkness was seemingly lessened the more time he spent doing rehab with that manyula. If Menkaure hadn't spoiled his rank, maybe he would be himself. Even as Seneca began his small speech, I wasn't paying attention, too busy getting lost in a memory...

It was my shift at the Magma base. Connie and I weren't on the best of terms with each other, still scowling at each other as we passed the time watching the pre battle action and the rundown of stats. Upon the mention of Reika, I felt a boiling of anger coming from Connie. She was still reeling from the horrible demon burn that the ninetales gave her. She couldn't really handle guard duty anymore as she rarely slept before nightmares would start all over again. All night she was falling into the dark depths of her nightmarish memories.

"Crystal, go back to your guard duties and buzz off. I don't need your presence to induce more headaches. I am mates with the person you love and frankly that can't ever change. I love him for who he is because we are similar. You and Yin are like apples and oranges." The manyula held her head in the palm of her hand seething in migraine-related pains, but I was too busy sulking over losing him that I conveniently forgot to hand her the ibuprofen powder I had recently bought at the shop.

"Just so you know, I don't think he is truly in love with you. I really think you just wowed him with your new form and I think you are just a fling before you get knocked off!" I yelled back at her, exiting the room and leaving her to watch the final match from there. I took one of the miniature televisions and carried it around as I kept the night watch. I turned into one of the dark hallways, oblivious to the surroundings as I watched Yin approached the field in an unusually somber manner, not raging or smirking. He looked devoid of feeling as he watched Menkaure wave the rocket flag with much hubris as if the battle was already won. "Yin, teach her a lesson by defeating her."

Once she stopped waving the flag I heard something in the hallway that spooked me into dropping the TV handset. Fear soon encompassed me as I heard a set of wings flapping quietly in front of me. I never got a chance to scream as a pair of spiky arms wrapped around my mouth, cutting me a bit but succeeding in muffling me. I struggle a lot, making lots of noise and Connie out to save me... or so I thought. The sound of feathers drew closer, as did a red pair of eyes that suddenly had me feeling sleepy. Connie came rushing in my direction but almost immediately getting throttled backwards by a powerful needle arm. I guess he didn't need to hold me at that stage because the hypnosis was doing the trick... the last thing I saw was a fairly small murkrow morph... much younger than I expected. All I could think about is how to explain to Yin why I lost to a child.

I woke up after a few bouts of decrescendo dreams, those sorts of imaginings that start off grand and end up full of dread in the form of the small witchlike crow that seemed to bring about the phobias people never knew existed. Some of the dreams ended in a shrill cackle and others with a death. I could have sworn though that in the later dreams, I could feel myself washing into shallower breathing, shallower sleep nonetheless, my dreams ending abruptly. As I opened my eyes, I saw the sun setting in the west, shading the skies colors until recently I never bothered to consider. Of course, of more concern to me was why I was bound with twine to the large oak 30 meters away from the building in the cool winter air.

I felt very sleepy after this watch, particularly as the red eyes haunted the crevasses of my memories. Tugging on my binds a second time, I heard gagging on the other side of the tree. I wasn't sure if it was someone else on the other side until she yanked back, slamming me several times into the tree. "I know you loathe me; but seriously do it on your own useless time, Eevee."
I grumbled from the pain. "It is Crystal. And I am not trying to..."

"You only got the naming ceremony out of pity. And I really don't care if you try because I know you will fail as usual." I would have asked her in the meanest tone I could muster what she was doing when the captives captured us, but the two came out of the building carrying out all our stuff and boarding up the building. One of them, a purple-eyed Murkrow fluttered about in her natural form then transformed into her natural form when she perched in the tree. Her face looked human-like, a young teen look from what I could see. She had a pale face, bird wings that functioned quite nicely as arms and hands for her. Her bust was quite small... barely b cups... still early in puberty. Her head still had that signature witches' hat look. I saw her clearly, but I don't think Connie noticed because she was busy trying to cut through the ropes. In front of us carrying some food was Cacnea, Jose I think he is now.

"Morning ladies, we have a special treat for you today. We are sorry about the way we took you down yesterday. You are no longer Magma because in a widespread clash, Magma was wiped out on every continent it existed on. The enforcers took everyone down though in Johto, swooping in on some of the forces there after the Rocket-Magma battle. A lot of Rocket personnel are in jail." I wasn't too shocked though... perfect timing with Yin gone. "Shut up cactus boy. I will kill you when I get out of this," raved the Manyula on the other side. She went on... still oblivious to the bird perching above. "I want to see that red-eyed bird bitch that hit me in the dark... that witch will..." I couldn't warn Connie though as a spark was already on its way down.

A small dark spark struck Connie, paralyzing her and making her unable to talk. "Who are you calling a witch?!?!?!" she shouted in a British tone, her eyes flaring red just as I had expected. This avian girl was Matilda who I would later find out is a bred murkrow from many breeding experiments involving birds. When they got her, they initially tossed her out only to find out exactly what she inherited and how powerful she was, Many of the other babies in the nursery quickly learned this too as she invaded their dreams anytime they would take her stuff. Not particularly social, she developed combat talents that were unparalleled in all of the Rocket Breeding Program's 20-year history. She was so brilliant that she got her naming ceremony at the very young age of six. Unfortunately, the name she got was from her parents, a Murkrow female and a Xatu male.
"I am Matilda, the ultimate Rocket brainchild." Cacnea smirked and threw a small nut at her. "Your name is Sunshine! HAHAHA!" Matilda flew down to attack him and they ended up in a mini-brawl, giving Connie and me a moment to escape... but then came a figure from the roof of the condemned building... the zangoose that changed it all: Menkaure.

"Stop your fighting, don't embarrass yourselves. We have to be ready to welcome Yin... he doesn't like hospitals so he will be back here in no time flat." The two nodded and backed away from each other. Besides, I have to finish my plan, now that everything is up to me." That phrase left me curious, but I didn't need to ask because sure enough, there was Yin walking at a slow, limping pace. He looked so irate and yet so tired that he nearly stumbled over himself. His walk developed a swagger from the lack of water. I saw some of the tape from the IV that used to be attached to his arm as well as the robe he was put in while he was in the hospital. The draft revealed his glorious package, untouched by the battle he had with my captor or the doctors... actually that really wasn't an appropriate thing to observe at the time.

He leered at Menkaure but was too weak to do much of anything else. He already knew what happened but still looked nobly defiant for someone who was defeated soundly and his piece of pie in the organization of Magma lost to the Rockets. "Menkaure... what have you done to my home???" I guess the boarding and subsequent razing of the building came as shocker to him. Menkaure didn't bother to fake the pleasantries as she was still hopping mad for what he pushed her to do. "I have taken your base... and your possessions. Now as instructed by the Team Rocket Organization, I have been ordered to leave no survivors, but it is something that cannot be enforced. However, I do ask of one thing: Sign a contract in order to live and be impressed into my part of the organization which is training. I'm sorry Eevee and Manyula, but only he gets to decide whether you are impressed or die... and the thing is that it is an all or nothing bid. All are impressed or all die. So what is your choice?"

I could almost see myself being horribly sliced apart as she said this... but shockingly it was never to happen. He reluctantly signed the contract with a mark of his paw... he didn't even appear to read it. When I went to stamp my paw... I saw a progeny clause that made me shiver. "'By signing this, you also enlist your children in this organization starting from the age of 10 under the head of Menkaure. This is binding and if violated will result in termination.' Yin, why did you sign???" Yin sighed and looked at me, leaning on the tree to keep himself up. "Because... I saw Connie's eyes when I signed it... she was willing and she even nodded." You know... I never paid attention to what Connie did for the most part... maybe it would make some of what happened make more sense... like why Yin folded so easily. From that day on, we all became rockets.

But it wasn't like I was just going to sit around waiting for him to snap into reality. I got some interesting data from the Archives that Windslash and I used to frequent before one of his frequent moments of concern... or panic... whichever word however one would like to describe it.
*******
Three days ago...
"Hurry... I am really starting to be creed out by this place lo... Crystal"

"Windslash, you haven't been anxious all the times we have been here. Why now? Especially since we are about to find and compile the full list of PAMex and gather the remaining data concerning Seven?" I said, partly annoyed at his jittering.

"Some things are better left unknown... plus I don't even know why you are doing this," he said in a low voice, to prevent the floating unown bodies from hearing him. "It is as if you have been snared in by a wealth of knowledge better left unknown. You are away in this godforsaken, cold place among books and files, searching aimlessly except for when I am around. You aren't behaving like you normally do. Besides, technically, Rocket guidelines state that you cannot work with a member of any policing agency. Ever since I was kicked out of Jose's room by Menkaure (granted she did it apologetically displaying the new rules), I have been working with Allie on several case, particularly the PAMex. You see where I am heading with this. I man I love working... I mean like working with you but we have to stop coming here."

It all sounded like gibberish to me as I was engrossed in reading a file on experiment Deus. I did catch a few words here and there that made me shrug just a bit. I couldn't say he wasn't lying although I refused to respond. Even right now, I am crabby. Not to mention, my fur was pale, and usually I looked up info about things that had happened. "Well, I found what we were looking for. I'll leave so you won't have a panic attack. Alright?" He nodded and carried the data in his small paws. Well that was a half-lie. I had no intention of leaving so I walked him out and proceeded to reenter; the gateway closed behind me leaving him wondering why he fell for it... probably. In retrospect, I must say that white lie gave me something new to strive towards.

Three days ago, I wouldn't have thought so. Venturing in the archives once more, I stumbled across an unlabeled book... one with letters being written in it as I picked it up in my tan paws. "Father was an espeon named Sunset... tragic life story, met his end during his stop t Rockets where he mysteriously vanished, He lived from one tragic instance to another, indulging in some unhealthy sexual practices, making a life goal to search out the one for him, only for that to become an afterthought after pleasure. Pokemon and humans alike took advantage of this addiction... left behind a pregnant female from one of his flings in human custody. The female later had a few pups, only one being female..." From there I stopped reading and turned the page. "Luna...was that mate... she late fled for the wild with her pups. Mom, why didn't you tell me?" I said to myself unaware of the purple cloud forming behind me.

"You are trespassing," said a distinctly female voice. "Prepare to be terminated." Windslash told me about what these guardians did to trespassers after observing what it did to Malachi. He only exists as a painful memory to the rockets now. This unown morph guardian female I think conjures up aspects of your past and makes you lose to the very thing you lived your life on. But as I waited on my doom, her purple aura faded away. "Having trouble scooping up more information to destroy me, or is there something you know that makes you hesitant to destroy me?" The female growled lowly. "I want to destroy you and I have enough information, but there is something about you that reduces my boosted power." I was slowly losing my sense of fear where the guardian was concerned knowing that the fabled Cortana did not have the strength I had imagined from my sandshrew friend's account.

"You have a rare ability called Balance. It removes additional powers that members of the normal species do not have. I can't destroy you; only give you this information on someone you sought to make yours. Of course that requires travel to follow up on this document. I am sure you know what to do. Farewell."

As the world around faded out, I could have sworn I saw three small lights of green, pink, and white. They were fuzzy, tricks in the lights that make a flying disk an alien vessel. Then the library vanished... and the book I sought all this time becomes dust and blows into my fur. Funny, I remember it all though, never read the book and yet I know what I can do to have a chance... a chance of love...

"Another daydream? That is two now in the same ceremony. Are you feeling well Crystal?" said Windslash who was right next to me, wide awake and alert to all around him. "I'm fine, just thinking of the trip."

*******END THOUGHT PROBE******

"Well she didn't see us well so that is good," said the pink female as she floated about gathering up a few charts.
"Hmmm... I guess it will pay off to follow her about. Superdome, what say you?" said the male.
"I'll hop on board. And..." There is an echo and a large groan of pain as many, many meteors fall from the sky on the 'forest dweller.' "Didn't I say stop calling me that?"
"I didn't call you that and you used that thing on both of us!!!"
"Sorry."

... I'm bad at introductions... very bad but this will have to suffice as a placeholder or something.
