The Artist-Engineer Part 2

Sorry this took so long but sheesh, it's summer and I didn't feel like writing all that much. I...may have gotten rusty.

SHK 15: The Artist-Engineer Part II

Gremlin moved towards them as his shadow energy ball grew larger and larger. It seemed as though all hope was lost, but then the bag he tossed aside moved and a cross Smeargle hopped put, sketching something very quickly. "Prepare to die!" cackled Gremlin to the two downed heroes.

Jose and Mari almost started to laugh as he said this, incidentally breaking his energy ball. "What are you laughing about? I am about to kill you and you laugh??? I want to see your faces contort in pain." They point out an empty bag and the Smeargle awake and carrying a large cannon. "It's an energy cannon... I think... when I fought this crazy guy, he pulled a flamethrower on me and I think he is going to obliterate your ass now," said Jose, lifting Mari off of him. "Wahaha, so you think you can stop me? Let's see you try!" laughed Gremlin as he actually crossed his claws, expecting no damage at all. "It's a useless hyperbeam attack."

However, Boucher had a trick up his sleeve as a scope came out, apparently analyzing the sableye. "Hey what is that scope doing?" Gremlin moved backwards, a terrified look on is face as a bright light began emitting in waves from the barrel. The attack was being charged. "Ha, that weapon can't hurt me. I'm a fucking ghost!" He was to find out very soon as the attack that wasn't supposed to hit ended up hitting. It was certainly a hyperbeam and the scope was a foresight move that removed his ghosting abilities. Gremlin found himself blasting through a few walls on his way out of the house rocket style, disappearing as a star in the sky. Jose and Mari couldn't celebrate yet as Boucher pointed the large gun in their direction. "Calm down, put the sketched weapon down," said Mari cautiously trying to approach is as Jose lay on the ground trying to patch himself up. But Boucher fired anyway, but only at the ground in front of him, kicking up dust and allowing him to escape.

"This is a lot harder than I expected. And we need to, oh here *She patches him up*, anyway, let's get out of here before his boss arrives." So the two head out of the building, unknowing of the watchful eyes of this boss Gremlin referred to, who stood on an adjoining roof.

"I guess he couldn't handle Boucher," said the leader, a female red Breloom, a rare color for the species. "I am thinking we should attack them now. What say you two?" One of them stepped forward and examined the situation. His green, sleek body was unlike that of his species, Scizor. "Yes Blade?" questioned Sakura, already getting impatient with his pensiveness.

"I think we should let them find him first... as in... uh what's that word I'm looking for?" said Blade, struggling to come up with a phrase to describe his plan. "You are looking for the word bide," said a pink male crobat named Kiribati, who was hanging from a satellite dish. "I guess we could wait it out, but really, how much time will we wait. We don't want them to get too far ahead. So what is the plan, Sakura?"

"Biding sounds good. It's better for them to do all the work while we reserve our energy for the fight we will give them. Besides, that Smeargle is much tougher than it looks. I'm glad I thought about it. It's mch better not to attack now because wouldn't be able to handle finding the smeargle as well." The other two groaned at that comment. Sakura wasn't always the brightest tool in the shed, but considerably gifted in martial arts and combat, she has them as underlings, even for their type advantages. Obviously they all knew he would be tough to handle, but all save her kept that hidden. "Sensei, it's rather rude to talk about difficulties." Sakura smiled and punched Kiribati down three stories off the building. "Don't correct me concerning my manners at a time such as this. We have preparations to make."

Spotted
Mari and Jose searched together, combing the city and asking local wild and captured pokemon about his whereabouts in vain. "You know, there is one place we haven't checked. Inside the pokemon contest area, there are plenty of pokemon about also he could easily blend in. Plus you saw him before at an art gallery. He could be here to look at some of the paintings or to make some of his own. No harm in checking anyways," explained Mari. "Ok I guess, but we don't want to be split up in here because there are too many people here," said Jose. Dusk soon went to nightfall as the city lit up in its vibrant display of lights, much to the delight of the stalking trio. Soon, the opportunity would come.

"Our goal here is to capture him then find out where he kept that bomb he was making... I don't want it detonating by accident in the meantime," Said the blue pikachu as she entered the contest hall. "This situation is even more hazardous due to the knowledge of competition outside of our own. Apparently, Gremlin had hires that may want to get it themselves." Jose thought to himself for a bit, "Maybe the same people that took Reika and T.K. want him for some reason. Either way, He definitely isn't safe with human-destroying pokemon." Strange pokemon were all over the contest hall, some muscle-bound, some looking cute and adorable. Paintings of champions lined the wall; a Smeargle was parked in front of some of the paintings. But he looked dead tired. Jose pointed him up. "We approach him from behind and tackle him," said Jose, but Mari was already at Boucher, approaching him from the front. "Boucher, we are sorry for pursuing you like this. But it isn't safe here anymore. More of your experiment friends are where we live and we would love it if you joined us." Jose was flailing in anger that she actually got to him first and calmed him down long enough to explain things to him. "Damn it a failed again because of that stinking blue pikachu!" Saying this caught the attention of pikachus passing by as they leered venomously at Mari, making sure to catch her undivided attention. "Jose, you jackass!" She left the side of Boucher to start beating the crap out of him with her punches and thunderbolts while he countered with needle arms and faint attacks. They fought violently until Jose noticed that Boucher was getting away. "Godddamn it, get him!"

They pursued him out of the stadium. For some reason, he stopped running and fell asleep in one of the alleys. Three shadows descend on him snatching him up in a bag. "Put him down by the order of the KBI!" shouted Mari up to the hidden kidnappers. "Was that a challenge, because you will soon regret it!" The three hopped on the roofs changing into their anthro forms and diving into an abandoned building. Mari and Jose followed suit rushing inside to an indoor clearing. Their enemy made themselves apparent. He didn't look too good, but nonetheless shakily held the bomb that he made earlier that day. "Ok, calm down... hand over the bomb and we will take care of it," said Jose through his teeth. But suddenly, he lost his strength and dropped the bomb. Everyone for a second froze ion an agonizing eternity as the highly deadly bomb collided in the ground... and literally blow away like pencil shavings. "What happened?" said Mari, still having her eyes squinted and peering over a few boxes. "It... fell apart... but how?" Suddenly, Boucher's body started to glow and for a moment, an unown popped out of his body from where the paw print was supposed to be. "I don't believe it... he is a symbiont."

Jose got closer, only to catch the attention of the unown who reanimated the bomb in one jumbled mess, unable to make a coherent image. Boucher himself tried to rebuild it but without the unown inside of him, he couldn't animate it. "I see now... no wonder he caught us by surprise. His real power is only to make the plans but like any Smeargle, he can't make it real." But soon, Boucher absorbed the unown again and made a break for it, making a break for the roof again. Mari shouted as she charged a thunderbolt. "You aren't getting away." But strangely, he was slammed into the ground by a glowing fist, whose light illuminated the sky for a bit. Around where the beagle landed, dropped down the three ninja observers. "Well thanks for tracking him down for me, hahahah," said the red herbaceous being that dropped in front of the experiment.

"Sakura?!?" shouted Jose. "Mari, it's the imposter referee from the Yin vs. Menkaure battle who put Elliot the referee in the hospital. Heck if we capture her, we can get an awesome reward for it." Mari looked at the other two. "This isn't going to be a fair fight..." said the Pikachu, sinking her heels into the ground, in a battle ready position, her breasts heaving a bit as the adrenaline began to empty out into her system as a fast rate. Jose was also read, his flower crown looking thornier than before and his refreshed body looking sturdier than before. Sakura laughed, her posse ready to battle as she stood by the side. "Guys, get them. I do not believe in fighting unfairly."

"Yes sensei," said Kiri, light reflecting off of his body as he expanded the wings on his back and landing in front of her in anthro form, "I shall take on the pikachu." Blade smiled sliding into his fighting stance. "The... the...Kiri help me out here." Kiri sighed to himself, "Cacnea, slow one." Ignoring the comment, he focused his sights on Jose. A battle cry from Blade and the fight began. Before anyone could se it, Kiribati sprang in front of blade and fired a sinister ray at Jose. Meanwhile, Mari started off making the entire area wet by creating a cloud in the center of the room. "Jose, attack now!" but he didn't respond, only swayed some. "Jose?"

Blade smiled and jumped over on the other side of Mari, his claws ready to attack, but instead he shot a beam upward. "Sunny Day!" he shouted as the water evaporated along with Mari's initial strategy. "Change in plans, Jose, use leech seed on the Scizor." But then Kiri flew in the way, reflecting the light of the sunny day right into the already disoriented cactus pokemon and he fired it... right at Sakura.

Mari looked back as a dark spark filled the seed that Sakura ended up catching. "If you don't watch where your seed goes, undesirable results will occur." She flung it so fast that it struck Mari directly in the forehead leaving a lump on her head. From there it grew in size, its vines wrapping around she fairly rapidly, barely leaving her any time to escape. Everyone stopped fighting to watch was about to occur, even the confused Jose who was still wobbling as if with an inner ear infection. "Help me..." whined Mari as her energy was quickly drawn from her body even before the seed germinated. He tried to go and aid her, but a feeling of dread fell over him as he tried to leave the field. In fact, Kiri was giving him a mean look he couldn't escape from.

A moan escaped Mari's clenched lips as one vine slithered into her pussy, pushing its way deep into her, draining energy at a rapid pace. Another vine snaked into her tailhole, pushing it wide, being a thicker vine and ravaged her. More vines wrapped around her ankles and elevated her to a horizontal position before becoming herbaceous and developed a cap. The plant grew off of her moans, her squirms, her orgasms that came one after another. Looking to where Sakura was, she was growing in strength as her muscles look well-defined and energy swirled about her. The leech seed was doing its job and much more, trapping her, becoming more like a translucent death fairy mushroom. The only thing that could be heard was low growling from Cacnea and a few comments by Sakura. "You know, it's kinda interesting that the hyphae go there... before she is absorbed completely, I'll have her libido energy first so that I can finish you off!" muttered the breloom, getting in a fighting stance.

"Mari..." he turned around to his enemies angry and bewildered at what is going on. Strangely, Kiribati and Blade were behind Sakura this time. "Let me handle it... I will finish this one off." She had a rose haze about her body as she set into motion, hopping a bit in her position as habit of her species. Her breasts heaved forth, not losing any suppleness from the slight transformation.

*Wow, those... those boobs... it looks good. And she has that spicy meanness that I do crave in my girls. I mean jeez, those boobs are fantastic and her half-assed sinister look makes my heart jump.* Sakura stepped forward looking at the daydreaming cacnea and tapped his shoulder, clearing her throat. "If you are done enjoying the view, I have something to deliver." He looked up and received a skull-crushing focus punch that blasted him through the boxes in the factory and into the wall, leaving an imprint.

Sakura walked towards the boxes with her fists to the side as Jose struggled to get up. Just as she began to power un another punch, Jose unleashes his sandstorm attack, scattering spikes everywhere and effectively concealing his location. "Where are you, coward?" shouted the irritated mushroom fairy. "Right here!" said a voice right to her side. Before she could react, a dynamic punch struck her, sending her sliding back. "Blade and Kiribati, go and get the engineer out of here. It's time I finished this guy."

Meanwhile, Mari stayed suspended inside of the mushroom, bemoaning her ability to fall into traps and devising a plan to get out. "I must concentrate my energy and remember my training. I wasn't weak in the tournament, so why should this be any different?" Focusing, she recalled the long hours at the beach training during the summer in which she ignored the sunbathing opportunities to funnel water properly. There was one day where she accidentally cooled the water to the point that people yelled at her. "And water expands..." She focused her energy and slowly, the temperature of the surrounding area began to dip. Small light blue orbs formed around her nude form. They formed a helix, removing energy from the water, cooling it till it started to expand and freeze. Her jaws chattered, but it was working. Finally, a puncture as an ice chunk stretched the mushroom to its limits. She splashed out of her matrix-filled prison, ejected as if being born. The orbs still surrounded her. "Hidden Power!" she yelled blasting away the wall, much to the delight of Jose, who had finish rolling form a strong kick. "Go get those two while I, umph, deal with this bitch here!" He gives a war cry and blinds her with a sandstorm again but this time she hooks his spiny arms, even grasping the spines and punching him with a red fist. "Ugh, I can't move."

"Hold on, I'll go and stop those two from escaping." She hopped through the hole she made and slid right in front of them. "Halt by the order of Mari, junior officer of the KBI. Hand over the Smeargle and I won't hurt you!" the two simply laughed and tried to fly off, but then a thundercloud formed and both were shocked by rapid thunderbolts. The spray of the attack hit Kiri right out of the air causing him to crash in the dumpster while blade barely avoided the move. "Where the hell did you pull that out of? I guess sensei was right about how tough you guys really are. But..." he caused the sun to come out with his own power. "I am more powerful than your...your ...whatever it is." Life energy began to pour into him. "Sooner or later, that sun will backfire on you," shouted Mari. Blade sneered at her, charging a hyber beam in one of his claws. "I doubt you will ever see that day." He was prepared to fire but a orange streak passed him, flames erupting around the steel pokemon as he was forced to jump back.

Friend or foe, no one knows, but this creature, doubled back with lightning speed and fired a spiral flamethrower that burned the scizor. Finally the mystery attacked stopped moving. "An arcanine, with blue eyes and a strangely familiar aura," thought the water pikachu. "No time to waste, let's go help Jose."

Back in the factory, he was looking bruised. She had a bruise or two on her cheek but looked much better off. Just as she was about to finish him off for good, a frozen hidden power hit the path in front of her causing her to slide. Seizing this opportunity, Jose got her by the head and flipped her up through the roof. "Take that!" he shouted. She landed on her feet ad would have continued except her other two were already airborne ready to flee. "What are you two doing?" she shouted.

"Sensei, they have him. We can't beat them right now," said Kiri in a shaky voice. He pointed out the Boucher out of his bag and carrying his tail ready to sketch an attack. She knew they were beat. "Pull back..." with that, they disappeared into the night with a smoke ball.

"Are you two alright?" asked the Arcanine. "Yes, I am, other than not being able to move!" shouted Jose, lying flat on the ground, shrinking into his feral form. Mari picked Jose up with her reserve strength. "You alright, Boucher?" asked the Arcanine, looking at the scene of damage. The smeargle nodded, stretching his back.

"So, how is your luck finding Reika?" asked Mari, stroking her fur through smoothing it over. "No trace so far... I will find her..." he then paused. "You knew who I was all along?" Mari smiled. "Of course, TK, and we will help you search for her. Let's first get Boucher to the KB base then we will head on to look for her." Jose immediately started to flail on the ground. "No way, he is going to the Rockets!" Boucher smiled and drew a smiley face on Jose's belly. "Somehow, I doubt you have the ability to fight us both," said Mari. But as son as she turned around, TK was gone just as he had appeared. "Damn one-track arcanine," mutters the slightly blue pikachu.

Phone Chat

A phone rings at the Rocket Training facility where Menkaure is doing her calisthenics and getting ready to train some more students. "Hello?"

"KBI 1, Rocket 0"
"Damn you Allie!"
"Haha, I knew I would get him. TK talked to me and found his way to help Jose and Mari out of a jam involving the seven.... So we need to talk sometime soon. Those kids are in danger."
"I know... let's meet at the usual time. I can cancel a class or two. Then maybe we can talk about the reason why you weren't promoted... and also to discuss where we have to be in our relationship for either of us to move up in our fields."
Totally ignoring those last few statements, Allie twirled her pencil in her hand thinking of something to draw attention away from her recent setback. "Also, have you seen Celia round lately? Ever since her brush with Franz, she's been out and about collecting info for the Enforcers, the special branch of the KBI that I am in."
"...I see, and when can we get this info?"
"I'm faxing it right now. It's about Boucher."
"No , I mean about the selection stuff for your..."
"NOT ANOTHER WORD!"

A paper came out of the fax machine. "Geez, she learned how to use one so fast. I'm still stuck learning the computer," thought Menkaure as she fiddled with the switches to retrieve the paper. Finally it came out. "What's this? A personal note?"

....
Hatched in the laboratory, this Smeargle, whom I named Boucher for the realistic painting style it developed all on its own, was the first of our Egg Project in which we were creating new and more powerful dark pokemon. Modification of the DNA was our priority even at the cost of long term side effects such as shorter life spans, premature cell death, slower rate of growth, and primarily changes in brain chemistry that result in psychological abnormalities.

Highly secretive even as a neonate, it was difficult to communicate or run tests on it except during feeding and sleeping times. We couldn't record anything about him for a while. Some suggested tossing him to either Project Ramona for consumption or forcing it to show something about itself from Project Malachi, our only willing captive. As the personnel Director for this experiment, I chose not to do such. I could understand why these scientists would want to dump a project even though it was only 5 days old. Instead, I sat with it in the observation room, not afraid of any strange lashes partially because I knew what I wanted out of it. The modifications I made in its DNA will allow it to have superior cognitive and structural ability making it one of the best engineers possible. It would be able to create viable plans for weapons of destructions..

At the age of three weeks, I decided to bring in a book about the theory of relativity so I could study up for a second masters. I noticed the little one crawl up into my lap and start to read along with me. To my amazement, he got back down and wrote out the whole thing and figured out the application of such a thing: the nuclear reactor diagram. It was weird... and I was happy my project was a success. But as I ran to the door to tell someone, I realized what kind of life I would be setting him up for. I don't know... but I felt as though I had to get him out of there... something maternal awakened in me...that I would risk all I worked for to see this little guy free. I mean he never talked, never made a sound, but he was fond of hopping into my warm embrace. I wasn't like the other scientists I guess.

That opportunity to escape came as they ran tests on Project Deus who had gone berserk and destroyed part of the lab. I snuck away and ran into the forests, waiting for the next disruption so that I could get out. But then, I forgot about the security cameras so an APB was put out for me. We hid around the area for about 2 days as they searched high and low. In that time, an Unown came about our hiding spot, floating around my little project. For a minute it stayed before strangely merging with Boucher. I didn't know what to make of the new S-shaped unown symbol on his back where a paw print from a fellow smeargle should go.

This being said, I don't have much choice as I am writing this letter... I just hope it reaches someone. I have to leave Boucher and his mutualistic friend in hopes that they will find someplace safe to run from these people... I'll create a distraction so these two can leave.

Goodbye Boucher,
Dr. Lisa O'lester

....
"Celia is looking through some pretty dangerous material. Watch her so that she doesn't end up in trouble. That expose she did of Franz won't help her," said Allie in response to the letter. "I know, I know. Now to train my average students of the semester," said Menkaure. "Anyway, I think you should know that while we are friends, you need to do your job more efficiently. You need to come after me. I am a criminal and you are the investigator." Menkaure could only hear a dial tone on the other end. Alexadria had hung up.

An injured and defeated-looking Breloom stood in front of a cloaked figure, boxing in a mixture of respect and fear. Failure wasn't tolerable in her organization and it wasn't a uge surprise that failures were often harshly dealt with. "I am very, very sorry for failing to defeat them and apprehending the host of the Unown... but I was surprised at the strengths of these seemingly low-level pokemon! I..." A wave of the hand cut her off.

"NO excuses for that half-assed plan you came up with. The ninja skills you possess mean nothing if air occupies that space under your cap. Through reading, you can learn so much about real plans. For example, take the ability top put your opponents to sleep. I have learned to make sleep a nightmare. Your mind shall scream in pain and in agony for help but no one can tell you are having problems because the sleeper smiles," said the cloaked figure. "Why, let me show you!" Barely a scream could be heard before she fell to the ground seemingly sleeping peacefully. "Nisix the Spinda... come in and take her away, then return."

"Yes, Master Miku," replied the little creature. Five minutes layer, he returned. "Alright, we have a situation that developed during Sakura's bid for failure. Apparently, Franz is being investigated for his business practices. Granted it is Arashi's problem, I do need a good line of money for this plan to keep running. Dr. Bawek can't run on aspirations for long. So you need to retrieve the information concerning any of us and destroy it. The hard copy is found at central command." Nisix looked confused for a moment. "How can I break into that?"

"Figure it out. This is your last chance here. Unlike her, you haven't demonstrated true prowess in any skill." Nisix knew it was the truth. Besides he had a promise to keep.
