The Beginning of Change

That's right, Chapter One is FINALLY complete. Even though its only a small part, part four has been added, and, as promised, I took all the parts and popped them all right here in one full go! Hope you all enjoy, and be ready for more crazy antics as the next Chapter is worked upon.

At first, I was surrounded by darkness. I expected it, really. I was really asleep, camping out along the route, under the starry night. What I didn't expect was the darkness being split apart by a shining light, as though a Pokemon had just evolved. In the light, I could see a shadow. It was obvious that it was female, rather shapely and beautiful, but her ears and tail resembled that of a Pokemon...a Raichu...it couldn't be....

"Pika-piiiii!" I was wakened by the sound of my pikachu, Rika. She seemed different from the other pikachu that I had seen, one ear lopsided on her head while wearing those little goggles she had always loved since she hatched from an egg as a Pichu. For some reason, she was always protective of me, always jumping in front of a wild Pokemon before any of the others, and somehow they understood something I didn't. I even asked Elvis, my Graveler, why she did it. He only laughed, as though it was funny that I hadn't noticed...

Sitting up, I rest my hand on her head, scratching the lopsided ear as she smiles. Looking up, I noticed that it was barely dawn. The darkness was becoming darker "Sorry, was I having a bad dream, Rika?" She only nodded in her soft sounds of happiness, loving the attention. I smiled again, giving her another scratch before standing up, stretching. I had always slept in the buff, which was a reason why I traveled alone. It took a bit for me to get over the fact that Rika was still around to see, but I soon found that she always turned away, a little red in the face. Putting my clothes on, I let my arm down for her to climb on. "C'mon, Rika, lets go see if we can catch the sunrise."

She smiled as she leapt onto my shoulder, staying there as I bundled up my bags and put the bag on my other shoulder. Making sure I had everything, I turned on towards the mountain ledge, looking towards Rika. She only smiled to me, blushing a little, something I hadn't noticed until recently. Maybe...naw, she couldn't be in love with me. "Alright, Rika, let's go and watch the sunrise."

On the ledge, the view was dark. We were a little early. We could barely see where the forest ended before the city, which was still a ways away. I sat down on the ground with Rika jumping into my lap. For a few moments, it was dark. Then the sun showed itself in all of its glory. It was beautiful, the sunshine splaying across the clouds in the sky, the light dancing on the trees and shimmering along the water. It was a sight to behold, one of the pleasures of traveling.

After a while, I stood up, Rika jumping onto my arm again as we set out towards our next destination. The day was nice, and I had enough friends to keep me company. It wasn't until lunchtime when I notice the sunlight disappear. At the time, all of my Pokemon were out having their food while I had a few sandwiches. Looking up, I could tell what was going to happen next. "Alright guys, lunch is being cut short. We have a storm brewing."

All of my Pokemon safely in their balls (Except Rika. It seemed as though she always wanted to be out with me), we packed up and started looking for shelter. By the time we found an old hollowed out tree, the downpour of the rain had us soaked. Rika was lucky. She only had to shake off the water. Me, on the other hand, had to get a towel out. That's when Rika jumped on me. "Pika! Pi-pikachu!" Was she trying to warn me of something? "PIKA!" I could tell the worry on her face, as if something was about to happen.

Before I knew it, it was too late. The ground below us collapsed, and I once again fell into darkness, knocked out by the following landing on the dirt floor of what is to be the biggest change in my entire life.

~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~

"C'mon, Zach, wake up! Wake up, Zach."

For the past hour, Rika sat on her trainer. Tear stains were on her red cheeks as she shook him, praying that he wasn't dead. Her eyes were now dry from all the crying. If only she noticed the ground sooner, to warn him quicker. She had failed him, the only person she truly cared for.

Her voice had now become cracked and hoarse from the yelling. To his ears, they were simple calls of her species, but she felt he knew what she could say. He understood her ever since he saw her at the day-care, an abandoned Pichu child with nowhere to go. He took her in, taught her how to use her thunder, and even gave her the goggles she so loved off of his own head. When she evolved into a Pikachu, he was proud of her, smiling and hugging her, as she laughed with him, so happy to be near him. She was in denial when she first came to terms with it, but now she wished she could tell him.

She loved her trainer, heart and soul, ever since he took her in, till the day she would die....

And yet she failed him today. She wouldn't be able to tell him how much she loved him. She had been trying to wake him up for over an hour now, only for her voice to become silenced from so much use...he was gone, and it was her fault for it...

Climbing off of her trainer's chest, she looked around, sad. On the high wall, Zach's bag hung, all of his pokeball stuck inside. She had no shoulder to cry on. She was alone. Sitting on the ground, she started to cry again, her tears streaming from her eyes to stain her crimson cheeks more. It was then that a glint caught her eye.

It was in the wall, close to where she sat. Glinting yellow and white, as if it was electrical itself. Pure lightning. She couldn't help but look at it curiously. For the longest time, her mind was cleared of everything but that rock. Was it an evolution stone? Was it a gem? She had to get a closer look at the rock, and yet, in the back of her mind, she couldn't bring herself to leave Zach alone...she loved him too much, and she was worried that he would be...NO! Never think of that, there will always be a chance. IF the stone is a gem, he'll like it. He does have the rock collection, after all. Running to the stone with the new idea in mind, she quickly touched it.

Then she felt it. The same feeling she felt when she evolved from a Pichu. It was a warm, fuzzy feeling that spread, starting with her paws, and suddenly moving throughout her entire body, but unlike the time before, her body hurt a bit, feeling different. Yellow light blazed from her body as it filled the cave, her features becoming blurred in the light as she began to transform. Was she becoming a Raichu? No, she wasn't ready yet; she can't change, not without Zach watching her!

Fretting, she began to look at her paws as they began to morph in front of her, her little claws becoming more and more like fingers as they started to go further from her face, her small arms becoming longer, more human. Looking down at her legs, she saw them stretch out before her, her feet shaping differently than she would have pictured. Then she noticed that her body was changing as well, becoming more...human...she moaned out as breasts formed out of her chest, small at first, but filling out a little as they grew out. Then she realized a few locks of golden hair falling in front of her, distracting her from the rest of her body. HAIR?!

It suddenly struck her, what the stone was doing as the light began to fade. It was an evolution stone, but not a normal one. She had transformed into a human, but she still had her fur. Wait? Moving her hands through her hair, she felt two long mouse-like ears just above the strap of her favorite goggles. Her ears were still there. Almost subconsciously, her black, thunder-tipped tail suddenly wagged in front of her face, showing that it was still there.

She had evolved...and strangely...she became...human...Her face became dazed as she imagined what might happened if Zach woke up. Would he accept the change, or would she become...outcast..."Zach...what am I going to do?"

"I have no idea..." This popped Rika out of her daze. Turning her head, scared of what has happened, she saw her love sitting there, wide-eyed and obviously dazed himself as he saw the new Rika.

The first thing that comes to mind when a person falls is his life...You get that sick feeling that you're about to die and you suddenly see everything flash before you in the matter of seconds, spanned into millennial.

The day I was born...

The day my father left to become a breeder...

The day when I struck out on my own to find my own path...

The day I met Rika...

Rika...

It seemed as though the flashes slowed as I thought of her. She was so cute, so small and feisty, fighting all the other Pokemon only to get attention. In a sense, I felt as though we were alike...No, I felt connected to her. She was trying hard, just like I was, to find her place, to be accepted.

From then on, it took all the patience I had to raise her, teach her. I gave her my attention and support, and she gave me her devotion and power. We helped each other grow, and yet, I still missed something about her everyone could see, but I was blind to...

"Zach...wake up, Zach..."

Then, I see the light, when Rika evolved from a Pichu to her current self, the Pikachu that I raised since I saw her. That day, I was so proud of her. "She was making her own dreams come true," I thought to myself, but when I think of it now, she seemed happier when I was happy, when I held her close to me...like someone in love, yet cannot say it...

Could...Rika really love me...in that way?

It was then that a blinding light blurred the visions of the past. Subconsciously, I covered my eyes as they opened. The first thing I notice was that I was on the ground. I had stopped falling some time ago and somehow escaped much harm. The second thing I noticed was something I would never expect seeing as a dream come true.

Before me stood a beautiful girl, her body shapely and curved as she sat there, amazed by her own body. Her face was soft and clean, and her eyes and hair were a matching yellow. It was like the dream from last night...and then I notice it. The tail, the ears, the fur...It was a Raichu sitting before me, having a beautiful human female body...

"Zach...what am I going to do?"

Her voice was, although worried, was soft and kind, a tinge of fear behind it as I slowly come to terms of consciousness. I pinched myself over and over, thinking it was a dream, only to realize that it was real..."I have no idea..." escaped my lips, still dazed at how this was happening.

At the sound of my voice, the girl jumped and was suddenly aware that I was awake. It was already noticeable of her fear. I couldn't blame her. I was just as frightened by the sudden change. I didn't even know if it was Rika, or someone parading as a Raichu...

There was an awkward silence...the girl sat at the far wall on the cave while I lay there looking at her. She was blushing deeply, her arms holding her legs together perfectly to cover herself as I looked at her, still bewildered. Finally, I spoke out. "Who are you...?"

Her blush went deeper, a small spark of electricity escaping her cheeks that I knew as a slight anger. Maybe she was mad that I couldn't recognize her, yet she held back since she too was confused by this change. "I'm Rika, your Pika-..." Her eyes shifting slightly as she realized her form didn't exactly match what it was before. Looking away, she corrected herself. "I mean. Your Raichu, I guess..."

"But you don't exactly look completely Raichu..." I couldn't believe it, yet somehow, my heart did...it ached against my being...I had to know for sure...then an idea came to me. "If you are Rika, then you would know everything firsthand. Tell me, what is the name of my Graveler?"

Another spark of electricity. There was one personality trait of Rika: She didn't like to be challenged by trivia, but by battle. Still, it seemed she knew there was no other way. "He's my best friend, Elvis, the King of Rock."

One right. Somewhere in my being, I rejoiced, sure that she was Rika, but I had to know completely. The questions continued. "Where did I find you?"

"You found me at a poke-nursery near Lilycove..."

"What was the first Pokemon you battled?"

"A Totodile."

"How do I sleep: In pajamas or my underwear?"

I could tell the girl was surprised by the question by the redness of her cheeks as they topped sparking, embarrassed to really know the truth. "Neither...you sleep in the nude. When you'd get up, I turn around to give you a little privacy and.keep myself from..."

It was then that my last question came to mind. I blushed at the thought, but it plagued me the entire time I kept asking her. I was certain now that it was Rika, and I wanted to know. Every time she jumped in the way for me, every time she blushed when I looked at her. It was obvious to everyone but me, and I needed to know.

"Rika...do you love me?"

Once again, she was surprised to hear such a question, and her face was red through the brown and yellow fur as her hands tightened around her legs, tears welling up in her eyes. It was enough of an answer for me as I stood up, wincing a bit as I moved to her. Kneeling down to her, I came close to her face, compassion in my eyes as she finally answered. "...Yes...with all my heart, Zacheriah...I love you..."

It was then that I knew it too. My heart was doing back flips as my stomach seemed to conjure Butterfrees. My face felt hot as I blushed, my smile soft as I leaned in close. I wanted to be with her, to know her better than I did before, to know what she liked, to teach her how to be whom she has now become...

"I...I love you too, Rika...I never saw it until now, but...I love you..."

~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~

It wasn't until night when we finally climbed our way out of the cave-in underneath the tree. If it wasn't for Elvis coming free of his pokeball on his own, there was no telling how long we would be down there. Sitting upon the small cliff overlooking the forests and town, I sighed, thinking over the entire day as a whole, the shock surprisingly still there.

Rika...she actually evolved in a way that my dreams depicted. More than that, she...and I confessed. It was something that only my dreams showed, and yet, I never believed would happen. My eyes glazing over, I think back again to the day I met her, raised her, never knowing the love I fostered for her in my sub-conscious mind.

"Um...Zach..."

The young voice was enough to bring be back to the present, recognizing Rika behind me. She was now dressed in a baggy shirt and old pajama pants that my mother gave me when I first started my journey. For the time, it was the best I could do for her, but even then, her soft face, looking to me with a shyness I never noticed before, ears low and her hands behind her back, made me smile in a why I never thought I would. "Yes, Rika, what is it?"

*Despite the fur, the yellow sacs on her cheeks was a soft red as she fidgeted slightly, unsure of what to say, what to do, and yet she wanted to join him so badly. She was now used to standing on her new legs, even though she was still adjusting to all of the other changes, but her own mind was ecstatic with happiness. She was able to confess, to let her feelings free, and now that she knew her trainer felt the same way....It wasn't just the most free sensation in the world, it was her dream come true..."I..I was wondering if I could join you"

"And since when have you ever needed to ask?" Upon hearing these words, Rika's smile widened as she nearly pounced her love, his chuckling filling her ears as she giggled with him, nuzzling his cheek softly. His hands reaching up, he caresses his Pokemon's cheek softly just as he did when she was a Pikachu, knowing how much she would love it. Sure enough, her murrs came free as she nuzzled the hand, hugging him tightly from behind.

Staying in the loving embrace for some time, the only thing going through each of their minds was the happiness of being together, having each other now more than before, not a worry in their minds of what is to come of the future.

And yet, in back of their mind, they both knew that this was just the start....The start of an adventure the will never forget, and a love that can only be described as an estranged evolution.
