Family Feud
"OK! Back me up, Jeanette!" Maxwell charged his mother while Jeanette created a Reflect barrier in front of him, although it couldn't be seen. "Maxwell, you're really underestimating me this time!" Not the least bit distracted, Blaze smashed right through the Reflect barrier with Brick Break and sent Maxwell flying back a good distance. Jeanette rushed to his side, worried that her mother-in-law may have overdone it. Maxwell was dazed, but not that badly injured. That is, until he spoke, "Ah tink.....ah bwoke mah jaw."
Blaze ran her hand over her son's face, "Pretty clever, teaming up on me. You're getting better, Maxwell." Jeanette gingerly held Maxwell's dislocated beak in her hands as a gentle glow surrounded them. In a moment, Maxwell's beak had been restored.
After opening and closing his beak a few times, Maxwell asked, "Man Jeanette, that really works! What was that?" With a grin, she answered, "That was Recover. Betcha didn't know I could use on more than myself!" He laughed, "No, I didn't!" Blaze stood up, "I'll get started on lunch. I'm making my specialty today."
Maxwell looked up with a goofy grin, "D-did she say she's making her specialty?" Jeanette looked at him, "I think she did. Why?" Maxwell jumped to his feet, "It's my favorite! Mom makes a mean spicy pasta dish!" Jeanette wasn't surprised that Maxwell liked spicy foods. Fire type Pokemon probably think spicy is mild. Fortunately, Jeanette didn't mind spicy foods, so she was looking forward to tasting this family recipe.
"Mmmmm, you were right, Maxwell! This tastes abso..." Jeanette paused suddenly as she chewed some of Blaze's spicy pasta. After a moment, her face began to turn red! "Mom, quick! Fruit punch!" Blaze quickly poured a glass of bright red fruit punch and handed it to Jeanette. As soon as it was in her hands, she gulped it down hastily, almost choking in the process. With a gasp, Jeanette spoke, "That was over the top. I've tasted spicy and that was WAY beyond spicy!" Blaze laughed, "Well, your father-in-law was the only person who wasn't a Fire type Pokemon who could endure the intense spiciness of that dish." Maxwell joked, "I think he never complained because he was afraid to dis your cooking! I know I'd be!" All three let out a laugh.
"So, I'll see you later?" Maxwell embraced his young wife. "Yeah. If I stay out for too long, Dad will get suspicious. He must never know about that." Maxwell held her tightly, "If he tries anything, I'll be there for you." Jeanette giggled, "Thanks, but did you forget that I'm stronger than him?" Maxwell blushed, "Whoops, I did forget." Jeanette cupped her husband's beak and gazed into his eyes. Maxwell got the idea and joined his beak with her lips, swirling their tongues around each others. After a moment, they broke the kiss and reluctantly parted ways. Just before Jeanette was out of sight, she looked back at Maxwell and waved.
Juan looked out the window as he awaited Jeanette's return. He didn't like the idea of his only daughter being friends with a Pokemon who was not a Psychic type, especially one who had human blood coursing through his veins. The very memory of his mate being captured by a Trainer alone was enough to make his blood boil. At times, he hoped that the Trainer was treating her with care and kindness, but still could not bring himself to forgive humanity.
"Dad, I'm home!" Juan jumped at Jeanette's voice. He was too caught up in his memories that he didn't even notice her walking towards the house. Just as he was about to greet her however, Juan froze. He could feel the faint life force in the house other than his own and Jeanette's. He detected it almost as soon as Jeanette walked inside. It was too faint to be pinpointed entirely. However, he was certain that Jeanette might know.
"Jeanette, I'm only asking out of curiosity, but your relationship with that boy, what is it like?" Jeanette was surprised to hear her father ask such a question, but she knew better than to be truthful to him. "We're just friends. Why?" Juan sighed, "No reason. I was merely worried." Although he had a relieved look on his face, Juan's mind was filled with shock and disappointment. As Jeanette spoke her reply, Juan looked into her mind and saw everything that happened a few nights ago. The moment where her and Maxwell mated, all the way up to their secret wedding. What truly shocked him to his soul was the realization that the faint life force he detected may have been from a fetus developing in Jeanette's womb.
Trying to avoid suspicion, Juan said, "Jeanette, I have some errands to run. Watch the house while I'm gone, please." She smiled at her dad, "Sure thing! Please pick up some whole wheat bread too!" With a nod, Juan was off. However, once he was out of sight from the house, he broke into a run. "No one with human blood will take my daughter away!"
"OK, my record's up to 100 kicks per second. Not too shabby." Maxwell nodded as he took a breather. He was practicing his kicking attacks in a secluded spot not too far from home. "OK! Time to try for 1,000! Um....." Maxwell paused at the sight of the old log he had tied to the ground. Or rather, what was left of it. In the one second of 100 Blaze Kicks, the entire log had been reduced to a pile of ashes. With a nervous twitch in his eye, Maxwell muttered, "Maybe I should've used a boulder instead." However, as he turned around, an unseen force knocked him head over heels! After stopping and climbing to his feet, he gulped at the sight of an Alakazam standing ahead of him.
"Oh, hey Juan. What's up?" It didn't take long for Maxwell to notice a look of rage in his eyes. (What's his deal? I haven't done anything to make him mad. Maybe he's just pent up and needs to blow off some steam?" A stretching his legs, Maxwell spoke, "So, do ya want to have a little sparring match?" Juan snorted, "Sparring match! I'm here for a fight to the death! I know what you did to Jeanette, you halfblooded scum!"
Maxwell felt a chill flow through his body, (Oh man, how did he figure it out?! Jeanette?.........no, she would never say it to him. Did he force her?) Suddenly, Maxwell's feet slipped out from under him. Without knowing what hit him, he fell flat on the ground. "Fight me! Only one of us will leave here alive!"
Maxwell knew all too well about Juan's hatred of humans. Even though he was only half human, Juan still saw him as if he was full-blooded. After brushing himself off, Maxwell faced Juan, "No way." Juan was fuming, "What was that?!" Maxwell sighed, "You heard me, Pops. I'm not going to fight you to the death. Even if you don't like me, I don't hate you. Besides, if I killed you, Jeanette wouldn't like it. Likewise, if you killed me, she would be just as upset. So why don't we just call it a day makeup?" Juan looked as if he was going to rupture something, "If you won't fight me, then so be it!" With a wave of his hand, Juan sent Maxwell crashing into a nearby tree!
"I won't say it again! FIGHT ME!" Maxwell, still reeling from that blow to his back, replied, "Get it through your skull! I'm not gonna fight you!" As if to answer his reply, Juan sent a telekinetic pulse at Maxwell. Out of nowhere, Maxwell collapsed to his knees while gasping for breath. The psychic wave had fractured his ribs. Without mercy, Juan began to toss Maxwell against the ground and trees with his powerful mind. Every blow added up, all until Juan slammed him into the ground in front of him and left him there.
Maxwell looked up at Juan, blood oozing from his beak, many of his bones broken. "It ends now." While holding his two spoons in an X shaped cross, Juan began to gather energy for a Hyper Beam. Maxwell looked on, his body too broken to even move. All he could think about was Jeanette and how he would never see his own kids, if she was even pregnant at all.
After setting some distance between them to avoid getting caught in the resulting explosion, Juan yelled, "Now be gone!" At that instant, a powerful orange beam of energy was fired from the two spoons in Juan's hands. However, it didn't even get halfway to Maxwell before it was intercepted by another Hyper Beam! There was a huge explosion when the two met, startling both men. After the dust cleared, the user of the other Hyper Beam shouted out, "Dad, what have you done to Maxwell?!"
Jeanette ran to Maxwell's side and tried to hold back tears as she tried to use Recover on him, but his injuries were too severe for it to be much help. After healing what she could, Jeanette stood up and faced her father, "Why? Why did you do this?!" Juan yelled back, "This is none of your concern! Stand aside! I will not let some halfblooded scum have his way with you!"
Jeanette's tears of sorrow turned into tears of rage. "Father..... You can not tell me who I can't marry. Maxwell is a good person, but all you care about is whether or not he is human. Not all humans are evil!" Suddenly, psychic energy began to churn the air around Jeanette. "I won't let you hurt him. Don't make me have to kill you!" Juan, not the least bit intimidated, yelled, "Jeanette, I am your father and I know what is best for you, so move!" Suddenly, Jeanette used Teleport to get right in front of Juan and slammed him in the gut with a Thunderpunch! "No, you don't know what is best."
Juan staggered back. His daughter had never struck him before. "Never hurt Maxwell again!" Jeanette threw a Shadow Ball at her father, who just barely dodged it! However, she wasn't done yet. "I learned this from Maxwell!" Jeanette began pummeling Juan with Arm Thrust blows, but with a twist. Rather than applying great force, she released bursts of psychic energy into him, crushing and straining his internal organs. After his heart almost stopped, Juan dropped to his knees. "Will you back off now?" Juan looked up at his daughter and, after catching his breath, replied, "Never."
Juan tried to shoot Jeanette in the face with a Psybeam, but she managed to evade it at the last second. When she looked down at her father, all that was on her face was disgust. Without saying a word, she used Psychic on him and began slamming him against the ground again and again. After a good 60 seconds of torment, Jeanette raised him a good 100 feet into the air and brought him down hard! When the dust cleared, Juan was out cold. He was heavily bruised and probably had severe internal injuries.
Maxwell, though exhausted, was left speechless at what he saw. (Man, when she said she was tougher than her dad, she wasn't kidding! She pulverized him!) Just before he blacked out, Maxwell was staring into the eyes of his wife...
"Errrrggghhh....... Wha...? Where am I?" Maxwell felt sore all over as he looked around the room he was in. He saw that much of his body was wrapped in casts. His legs were supported in the air, a sign that they were broken. Just then, he heard someone close a door. A second later, he gasped when he saw Jeanette walk into view. As soon as she saw Maxwell awake, she had to struggle to not cry. "Hey, beautiful. Where are we?"
Jeanette took a seat next to Maxwell, "We are in the hospital. The doctor says that most of the bones in your body are broken. Lucky for you, there are no permanent injuries." Maxwell smiled until he saw Jeanette almost cry again. When she gently grasped his hand, she whispered, "I thought I was gonna lose you." Maxwell whispered back, "Hey, we haven't even gone on our honeymoon yet. No way I'm gonna leave you when we only just got married." Jeanette wiped away her tears and smiled the way she always did when she knew everything was going to be all right.
After a moment of enjoying each other's company, Maxwell brought up the subject, "I gotta hand it to ya, Jeanette. When you said you were stronger than your dad, I wasn't so sure. Man, you sure proved me wrong." Jeanette gave him a quick glance, "You thought I was lying?!" They both laughed. Soon, Maxwell asked, "So, how is your dad anyway?" Jeanette sighed, "His injuries are almost no different from yours. He's gonna be in the hospital for awhile. To be honest, I'm not sure if I ever want to see him again after what he did to you."
Maxwell touched her hand, "Hey, I think he got the point after you were through with him. Besides, I know that kind of hate he has. When my dad died, I absolutely hated all Dragon type Pokemon. But I learned that they aren't all bad. I don't know what the deal was with the one that killed my dad, but all the other ones I saw after that were completely different from that one. Trust me, Juan will come around. Just give him some time." Jeanette looked at Maxwell and saw the wisdom in his words. "Thanks. I'll do that." She leaned over and gave Maxwell a sweet kiss on his beak, but only because she couldn't give him a more intimate one at the moment.
"Hey, Jeanette? Don't tell Mom about what happened to me, OK? We don't need both of us in a full body cast." Jeanette giggled, "Got it. I'll tell her you just got careless with the Boulder Toss part of your training." "Ouch, but I guess that'll work." The two shared another good laugh. Still, Maxwell had to wonder if he and Juan would ever see eye to eye.
Blaze ran her hand over her son's face, "Pretty clever, teaming up on me. You're getting better, Maxwell." Jeanette gingerly held Maxwell's dislocated beak in her hands as a gentle glow surrounded them. In a moment, Maxwell's beak had been restored.
