As the tall trees began to shade out most of the remaining light in the sky, Mercedes began to feel fear, as the rest of the team did. Terrence could smell something, he was not sure what it really was, for it was something he had never scented before, but this really bothered him. Ryan did not say anything after he was found by Derek once more, to say he was probably pissed off by that and at the same time embarassed.
Everyone sensed a very deep fear in Bryan, one that even Mercedes didn't have. They knew that Bryan came from the wild, so he must know about this forest. It became darker and darker with each step they took. The keens of Pidgeot began to become a nuisance to Bryan and Terrence, everyone seemed "Unannoyed" to this. Derek was still in the back, pushing as hard as he could to help the team with this unusual act.
To not know the future really bothered Kyle, he was always trying to figure out what was going to happen before it occured, which caused a lot of problems for the team at some factors. The snow was becoming less dense as they went deeper and deeper in the forest, for some reason it began to get less freezing, a very good thing for Mercedes, but it was a very unusual thing.
Dexter began to become tired, very quickly. He panted more furiously than the rest of the team. Derek stopped the movement so he could observe Dexter, "Are you okay?" asked Derek as he petted Dexter's yellow fur, "Pika..." said Dexter, Derek was still confused, for he still went back to his theory, "Wimp" said Ryan, turning his face away from Dexter, "Oh, just shut up" said Terrence turning around. Ryan did not respond, he just toyed with the twig in his mouth, "Dexter, are you okay?" asked Mercedes. Dexter was a bit embarassed, Mercedes didn't cause Derek to stop and somehow he stops for Dexter, "You're just tired, don't worry, we'll set up camp in a few hours of traveling" said Derek as he walked back to his position on the back of the sleigh.
The sleigh slowly advanced to a start then went steadily back to its regular speed, at the speed of a falling object at least. The cold just began to fade so much that Kyle was suspicious, along with Bryan and Terrence, Ryan didn't seem to care though. The snow flakes did not cease to fall though, it fell as it did before.
After 1 hour of pulling the sleigh, the entire team was exhausted, not only Dexter. Derek seemed like he was only going on instincts, he was pushing but he was pretty much asleep. There was a danger sense that appealed to Kyle, he began to panic, shifting from side to side, "What the hell are you doing!" yelled Ryan when Kyle knocked him over and the entire sleigh lost control and was halted to a stop, "Oh shit" said Terrence as he felt the same thing, "What is going on..." said Bryan as the feeling bothered him as well.
Derek got off the sleigh and checked on Kyle, "There is nothing wrong with you, if you just want to be lazy, that is too bad" said Derek, a bit annoyed. Terrence and Bryan howled and tried to tell Derek that danger was approaching, but he did not listen. He yelled "Hyah" and the team began to move once more.
After a few steps, there was a movement in the bushes. Kyle looked at the bush at the last second, when two Mightyena jumped out and attacked Derek. The sleigh lost control and fell down a hill to the left of them. Derek pulled out a huge stick he packed, smacking the Mightyena over the head. A Mightyena tackled him and began to rip him clothes apart. Derek yelled and whacked that Mightyena in the stomach, it flew off of him and whined when it hit the ground. Derek got up and prepared to take on both of the Mightyena.
The sleigh finally halted when it hit a mud puddle, "Derek!" yelled Bryan as he began to climb the hill. He fell due to the hill was pretty slippery from the partially melted snow. Then the entire team except Ryan tried climbing the hill, "Ryan, what the hell are you doing!?" yelled Dexter, "He's dead, what is the point" he said, "Shut the fuck up! That is all you ever talk about!" yelled Mercedes. Both Dexter and Ryan were both surprised when she said that. Terrence climbed the hill without problems.
"Terrence, what do you see?" yelled Bryan, "Oh no..." he said, frozen in his place. Bryan struggled to climb up the hill, finally he did, "Oh no" said Bryan, a tear quickly appearing in his eyes. A large blood puddle was visible, it looks like the blood slid away the opposite way from Bryan and Terrence. The Mightyena dragged Derek away. Terrence's head sunk, tears falling to the ground. Dexter finally reached the top, "Oh my God!" yelled Dexter as he ran to the puddle. His small knees hit the ground, then his arms hit the ground. The somewhat warm air blew hard, causing Bryan's fire to go in that direction.
"Please...please tell me he is okay" said Mercedes as she climbed up with her eyes closed, trying not to see what she thought she might. When she opened her eyes, tears instantly fell from them, "No!!" she yelled as she collapsed from fatigue. Dexter got up and picked up Mercedes, she was out cold. Kyle was already crying, he knew even if he did not make it all the way up that Derek was dead. Ryan was still unmoved, he sat on the ground, legs crossed, toying around with his twig, "We need to get Mercedes some shelter" said Bryan, "Yes, we can't lose both" said Dexter as he struggled to pick her up, "Let me carry her" said Bryan as he looked at Dexter struggling.
Bryan went back down the hill where the sleigh was with Mercedes in his arms. "Kyle get some supplies from the sleigh" said Bryan, "Yes sir" said Kyle, still sniveling. Kyle grabbed an entire bag that was full of the camp supplies Derek was going to set up. Terrence was still frozen in place, he had nothing to say.
Ryan did not go with the rest of the team, dealing with the fact that he was back in the wild once more. Bryan did not care though, Ryan was only a nuisance and that was all he would ever be. As they traveled, Bryan with Mercedes still in his arms, they looked around for a cave or some kind of shelter. No one spoke to each other, all mourning the loss the Derek. He was taken from them so quickly that some of them didn't even believe he was dead just yet.
"Guys, as we all witnessed, Derek was killed after the first few hours of being in this forest" said Terrence, "This is not good, this...this Forest of Nightmares, there is something very ominous about this place, it is like the pokemon here live to kill" said Bryan, "Yes, that is why I am worried" said Terrence, "I am afraid that we are all lost here, I do not remember the way Derek led us here and I am getting the suttle feeling that..." Terrence trailed off.
"I know what you mean..." said Bryan, "What is it?" asked Kyle in a monotone kind of way, "In order for us to live...I don't know, all I know is that living in this forest until a pokemon rescue team can save us will be very difficult" said Terrence, "I know how the wild is guys, it will NOT be a walk in the park, I can tell by the way those Mighyena attacked that we are being stalked most of the time here" said Bryan, "That is scary" said Dexter, still crying, "I am afraid what might happen here, what has Derek gotten everyone into?" asked Bryan to himself...
