Realization
There was no other emotion in the team's mind other than fear. Derek, their loving trainer, the one they had been with for most of all their lives has died in such an instant that it was all a still blur that passed through the team's mind when they fell down the hill. The last thing they saw from Derek was his violent side, him beating the crap out of the Mightyena before he went down.
Plus Ryan, "That selfish bastard" most of the team thought. Ryan had never really liked Derek or showed any kind of affection to anyone else in the team. He was always a whiner and complainer and yet he thought he was the coolest of them all, "I hope he rots in hell" thought Bryan. There was a deep fear AND a deep sadness, which was another emotion but not as drastic as the fear. Instant death lurked around every corner they thought. Ambushes were just waiting for them. This made them very nervous, every time they would here the keens of Pidgeot, they would panic and usually out of reflexes, Bryan would vomit a flamethrower out of his scaly mouth.
Coldness returned in the Forest of Nightmares, it creeped through the trees and soon, snowflakes were dropping from the sky once more. Mercedes was still unconscious, the rest did not blame her, her exhaustion and sadness for Derek made her collapse at the spot.
Soon the snow was becoming a blizzard, the inhabitants of the forest scurried away to find shelter and the entire team aimed to do so too. After a while, they stumbled across a cave, it seemed to have been blocked by a boulder. Bryan set Mercedes down gently and went to go help push the rock. Terrence, Bryan, and Kyle all pushed while Dexter was keeping an eye out for anything unusual.
The boulder finally budged after a bit of strain. It rolled steadily after they got it off the flat bottom of the unevenly shaped boulder. To Bryan's surpise, there was wood blockading the entrance, "What the hell?" he asked the rest of the team even though it was not a question.
Bryan grabbed his tail and caught the wood on fire, "This seems pretty dumb but it is pretty smart, the wood can provide us heat without us having to hunt for it, plus the blockade would break down sooner or later" said Terrence, acknowledging Bryan's idea.
The wood collapsed after a while, Bryan walked over to Mercedes and picked her up, her arms dangled like one of a ragdolls. Bryan lead the way, carrying Mercedes with one arm and his tail in the other kind of like a flashlight. He was having a really hard time carrying Mercedes around with only one arm, veins popped out of his head and sweat rolled down his face despite the freezing temperature.
There was silence inside, a grave feeling befalled Bryan, he looked around nervously with Dexter, Terrence, and Kyle behind him, they were as nervous as he but did not show it. There was a low whimper in the darkness, "Was that Mercedes?" asked Dexter, "It sounded like it came from across the room" said Terrence, a small noticeable voice of fear in his sentence, "Bryan, use your tail to see where we are, I'll hold Mercedes" said Kyle, "Thank you" replied Bryan in relief, he lowerd Mercedes so Kyle can pick her up.
Bryan moved more quickly now, but Kyle was left behind a bit from the group. "Ugh!" grunted Bryan as he fell over, "Are you okay?" asked Dexter as he bent over to help Bryan up, "Yeah" said Bryan getting up, refusing Dexter's hand, "I'm not sure I like the feeling of what I tripped over" said Bryan, "What do you mean?" asked Dexter, still nervous, "It felt...I don't know, it reminds me of something disturbing" said Bryan.
Bryan inspected the ground, putting his tail in front of him so he could see it better. Then he saw something that caught his attention, a red stain on the floor. Bryan's heart beat increased in speed as he followed the trail, it was like something was dragged along the ground.
Bryan yelped at what he saw next, a body of a Kecleon covered in cuts and blood, "What the fuck?!" yelled Terrence as he saw a the body of a dead Poochyena on the floor next to him. Dexter looked like he was having a stroke, but that is just the way he acts in certain situations such as this, he retreated to the cave wall behind him. He felt something disgusting and soft, when he looked around he saw that it was a dead Sceptile strapped too the wall, blood slashed across the wall almost like someone dragged the person "against" the wall. Kyle almost dropped Mercedes when everyone was panicking, he yelled as well, "Everyone stay calm" yelled Terrence, apparently he was telling everyone to stay calm when he couldn't even stay calm himself, "Look, they are all long gone, stop panicking, they can't hurt you!" he said. There was another low whimper when everything got quiet, "Someone is in here with us!" whispered Kyle to Terrence, "Nonsense, it was probably just Mercedes" said Terrence.
The low whimper once again returned, even louder than before, it almost sound like a menacing laugh caused by a young female. The whimper increased in speed and volume. Everyone shuddered where they stood, almost like they were frozen by the whimper and only the whimper.
Bryan continued forward with great bravery to see what was making the noise. He cautiously stuck his tail forward like a gun and awaited a strike of some sort. Eventually he found someone, shuddering in the corner, it was a female Sneasel cowering in the corner of the cave full of casualties. The team gasped at this, for she seemed to have been covered by the blood of the dead pokemon in the cave, her eyes were wide open and she sat in a fetal position, rocking herself back and forth whispering to herself, "They...died...before my eyes...they...were all slaughtered by...by..." she trailed off. Bryan touched her shoulder and she looked at him with her eyes wide open in shock.
She screamed and kicked away from Bryan. They were all confused but they knew that she had suffered from the loss of these pokemon, she probably knew them and probably was there when they were all killed...
