Epilogue
Epilogue:
The boat slowed as a small dock became visible through the chilling mist. Mona tossed her tangled hair out of her face as she climbed onto the dock, Jor trailing behind her, his short legs attempting to keep up with her long stride.
"So, I'm guessing the rest of the order has heard of our master's fall.", Jor muttered to Mona. She ran red nail polished fingernails through her thick, bushy hair, and said, "Yes, as true as this may be, he is still alive. We must delay the other order as soon as possible."
"So, this is the island on which the monster of The New Moon resides."
"Yes, but it was sealed away years ago. But I have his crest here." She drew a long, golden necklace from between her breasts, holding it up admiringly. "I also brought the seashell."
Jor looked alarmed. "The crest? The seashell?! You've been digging through our master's old items from his childhood!" She tossed the necklace in her hands as she began to walk away from the dock. "I'm sure master will understand. I have plans for these items, Jor."
Jor looked nervously confused. "Well, if you say so. You are his highest lieutenant after all." They both walked along the edge of the island until they passed through a large gap in the trees, and the air around them grew terribly cold.
They seemed to be thrown into a strange darkness, that had nothing to do with the overcast sky. They stood in a large clearing, where a large puddle of water sat stationary in the center. Mona walked to the center of the clearing, and taking the necklace, she bent down, inspecting the earth below the water. Then she spotted it; a small, circular rune, like a new moon.
She pressed the necklace through the water, and felt it slide between the engravings. Jor flinched as there was a sudden, loud cracking in their ears, like radio static.
The clearing grew even darker, as Mona stood back, smiling as the water suddenly began to ripple, and a blackish something, as if made of the night itself, emerged from the ground, staring down it's callers with deathly cold eyes. Mona smiled, a manic gleam in her eyes as she bellowed,
"Darkrai, come serve your true master one last time!"
