One evening some time ago there was a mysterious event that took place. The air was cold. Rain fell heavly from the sky. The sound of water hitting the floor echoed across the savanna like small marbles falling into a tin can. The ground remained unsheltered for miles around. The winds blew harshly. Small trees bowed down to its might. It seemed as if the storm would last all night.
"Nico" an umbreon barked. "Hurry and finish building that barricade. I'm going to leave you alone for a bit while I go check on your mother."
"I'm on it, dad!" Nico shouted back, as he continued to dig his trench. The dug up dirt was picked up by other pokemon to build the barricade to help protect their underground homes from the rain. "There's no way I'm going to let a bit of water destroy my home. I've lived here all my life. I can't just let it get destroyed just like that," he laughed, continuing to dig.
It didn't take long for his father to reach their den. "Ciel! are you ok?" he called out, jumping into the hole that was the entrance to their den.
"I'm fine," the meganium spoke calmly. "But what's going on outside Skrien? I hear a lot of people shouting among other odd sounds and vibrations in the ground. That's besides the rain too."
A small sigh escapes the umbreon's maw, "Everything is fine. The rain is coming down a bit heavier then usual so we're taking extra precautions to make sure the water doesn't come into our homes."
"And what of our son? What is he up to? If there's something going on he should be in here with me so he doesn't get hurt," she whimpered slightly, waiting for Skrien's respond. He just stood there quietly staring down at his paws for a bit. "Skrien!" she cried.
He grew a bit angry at being yelled at. "We need every capable paw! He'll be fine. He's old enough to be helping out while keeping himself safe," he snapped back. The answer making Ciel feel a bit more upset. He really didn't know how to calm her down fast enough. He needed to get back to his son quickly.
"The two of you had better not get hurt..." she sobbed.
"We won't," Skrien sighed, wrapping his fore paws around her smooth, long neck. The whispering, "Everything is fine as I said earlier. Don't worry so much; it'll age you." He then gave her a kiss and began to make his way out of the hole. "Besides, a bit of water won't hurt us," he laughed, now making his way back to Nico.
The bayleef came up with a chant for himself to help keep his mind focus. "Must keep digging, I can't stop. No way our homes will be ruined," he repeated as he continued to dig at an incredible pace. But he couldn't keep up with it much longer. His muscles began to tighten up and ache with pain. It felt as if someone had hammered a nail into his tricep. "Dammit!" he cried, his legs collapsing beneath him. Steam exhausted from his mouth as he tried to catch his breath, rolling onto his back. He too the time to lift up his legs and stretch his limbs. Using his unusually long leaf to cover his face from the oncoming rain.
Meanwhile Skrien ran as fast as he could to quickly get to his son's aid once again. "Hold on Nico, I'm on my way. Just keep up a little bit longer." Being a bit overfocused on getting to Nico his front-right paw slipped into a hole that had been camoflauged by muddy water. Quickly he fell to the ground, twisting his ankle and hitting the ground hard. His current speed causing him to roll a bit before coming to a stop. "Ciel..." he whimpered, knowing he wouldn't be able to get up. "...she's gonna kill me..."
The storm was getting worse now. The water was close to spilling over the first barricade. Lightning flashed across the sky. Thunder roared and echoed multiple times over. "Skrien..." Ciel whimpered, still crying slightly. "It doesn't feel right just staying here. Perhaps there's a way I can help too," she perked up, and made climbed out of the whole. "At least this way I can make sure those to stay safe," she assured herself as she made her way towards their direction.
"I can't stop now!" Nico cried, climbing back onto his paws. Quickly he began digging again. "There not much more left to do now..."
Ciel continued to traverse through the panic of surrounding her home. "This is much worse then what Skrien led me to believe. Some heads are going to roll if I find out one of them got hurt. She began to pick up her pace a bit as she continued the search for her mate.
"There! It's done!" the bayleef sighed, quickly dropping onto the floor so he could rest for a bit. "Father will be really happy when he sees that I finished the barricade."
The winds caused the clouds to gather a bit more. Water continued to rain down on the small pokemon village. Soon enough water had collected for it to pour over the first barricade. The sudden cool wetness quickly getting Nico's attention. "I should probably get on the other side of the barricade," he laughed to himself, quickly using his vines to assist him as he jumped over the wall. He rolled as he landed on the ground, but left himself there to rest. He waited for his dad to return to see his success.
"Skrien!" Ciel yelled as she ran to her lover's side. "What happened!?"
"Heh heh- I tripped," he laughed looking at his injured paw.
"You don't think that's funny! You got hurt!" she screamed, slapping him accross his maw with a vine. "Not only that but you lied to me about the severity of the situation!" she added, giving him another smack on the opposite side.
Skrien just lauged a bit more at the display of emotion, "Yeah, but now's not the time to be slapping me around. Nico is still out there waiting for me to return. The umbreon got up on his three good legs and began to walk.
That is until Ciel whipped her body around using the slickness of the mud to slam her weight into Skrien, knocking him down onto the floor. "You idiot! Go back home. I'll go get Nico," she stammered, quickly running in the direction that Skrien was originall heading.
"Dad sure is taking his time getting back," Nico whimpered, attempting to remove mud off of his body with a vine. He got back onto his paws, "I sure hope nothing has happened to him."
"Nico!" his mother called out, "You're safe!" she shouted, stopping at his side.
"Mom?! Where'd you come from? and what happend to dad?" Nico asked.
"Oh, he just got a little hurt. He's on his way home now. Lets hurry and get back to him," she replied.
Nico nodded and began to follow his mother. However, just then lightning had struck and a beam of electricity blew up the original barricade. Water quickly rushed from the large opening. The new barricade which had not even had time to settle in was no match for the rushing water. It quickly tumbled and allowed a great flood to spread accross the savanna. Homes were quickly filled with water. No home in the area was able to escape the disaster. The pokemon, including Nico and his parents were swept away.
