Kyra: The Midnight Shore by firstofeternity

Caramella Dansen

Chapter 4: Caramella Dansen
"W-What? This wasn't supposed to happen!", Caramella pouted to herself, watching the melancholy figures of Meil and Kyra sitting side-by-side in the sand, the rain drowning the lake in mist. Caramella was perched on the back of her Altaria, watching from a pair of binoculars high above the trees.

Her cutely curled, dyed-blue hair was plastered to her face as she was not spared the downpour. She pulled out a small pink walkie-talkie, and said, "Nathan? Hey, Nathan!" "Yes, what is it, Caramella?", Nathan's voice crackled over the walkie-talkie.

"Meil ran away from home!"

"What?!"

"Yeah, I heard it all! He ran away because his mom and dad rejected Kyra being his girlfriend or something! And they got all mad, and then he got all mad, and-"

"So where are they now?"

"On the same street; just sitting there."

"Caramella?"

"What?"

"I'm coming over see Meil's parents right now. Caramella, I want you to take them back to your house."

"But I don't have another bed!"

"Not for the night; just until I can sort this out. If it does take that long, I'll see if your sister; Mammon, or Belphegor can take him and Kyra."

"Fine..."

There was a sudden knock at the door. Kari Narcia answered with trembling hands. "Nathan, I'm glad you're here! We don't know where Meil is!"

Nathan limped inside, lowering himself onto the couch; laying his crutches beside him. "Meil is fine. He's with Caramella; Mammon's sister."

She let out a sigh of relief. "Oh, thank goodness."

"Kari, I heard that you and your husband are having problems with Meil."

Mr. Narcia took over for his wife, "Yes, we are concerned about Meil's relationship with this Lucario named, Kyra. It seems that they are... How can I say this...? More than just Pokemon and trainer."

Mrs. Narcia nodded approvingly. "We think our son may be an atheist. He doesn't seem to care at all about the laws in, The Bible. And we suspect he might have all ready... Um, 'mated' with her."

Nathan laughed out loud. "You would be correct on both of those. Meil is nothing less of a rebel I say. He really loves, Kyra. He's not going to let anything get in his way of that. I admire his style."

Both parents looked dumbfounded. His mother blinked, then inhaled, and exhaled deeply, as if she'd temporarily forgotten to breath. "Nathan, you can't let Meil do this! Kyra is a Pokemon! You must understand that-"

"Meil can do what he wants. It's his decision if he wants to be with Kyra, even if they are different."

"But I'm his mother!"

"And that gives authority over every little aspect of Meil's life? Even if it's not hurting anybody?"

"Nathan, how can you not see? This isn't moral for him to-"

"Moral? Mrs. Narcia, you must have an open mind. Maybe, Meil does not believe in such things as moral and immoral."

"Well, we're still his parents, and we don't approve of this. I mean, honestly! It's just not right! Pokemon are not meant to be like that!"

"Maybe not to you. But, Meil seems rather happy with his lifestyle."

"Nathan, tell him he's no bringing that girl under this roof again! If he wants to come back home to his family, he can kindly put her away in a Pokeball like a normal Pokemon!" Mrs. Narcia was shouting at Nathan by now, enraged by his stubbornness to agreed with her.

Nathan drew out a walkie-talkie, and putting his mouth to it, he said, "Hey, Caramella."

The voice of a young girl crackled from the speaker, "What?"

"Can you call your sister?"

"Huh? What's up?"

"Meil and Kyra need a place to stay."

"You mean his parents-"

"Caramella, just do it. If your sister is busy, call Belphegor. She always welcomes guests."

"Um, okay!"

Nathan put his walkie-talkie away, and pushed himself up on his crutches. "Well, if that's all, i'll be going now."

"Nathan! What are you doing?! Why are you sending Meil to another house?!"

"You said, 'Kyra can not come under this roof again.' Meil isn't going to give her up. So either you give up, and accept him. Or reject your only son to his rights. It's your choice." Before limping out the door, he turned to Mr. Narcia.

"Ron, I expected more from you as a father. You helped me from living the life on the streets. You gave me the chance to raise a family. I'm disappointed that you would not give Meil a chance at his own life.

Goodbye."

Meil walked into Caramella's house with a gasp of something like amazement, shock, and possibly horror. It was decorated beyond anything he'd ever seen. It was like cute-heaven and cute-hell had a baby.

Plush animals and Pokemon of ungodly adorableness, stared blankly at them from every piece of furniture, shelve, and table. Posters, masks, hats, furniture, clothes, and everything else oozed with cuddly bunnies, fuzzy koalas, super-deformed school girls, fruit with faces, and everything in between. Even the little of the floor and wallpaper that could be seen were a brilliant shade of lilac and magenta.

It was a rainbow of cute animeness that was truly unstoppable. Stacks of anime DVD's, and surprisingly; hentai PC games, were littering the Glameow-themed computer, and Teddiursa-themed television. Boxes and wrappers of pocky, rice candy, chocolate filled biscuits, and other strange foods of the otaku, were scattered upon the floor, and filled the sushi-themed trash can.

A J-pop song was playing loudly on a Politoed-themed CD player. Meil blinked as the colors seemed to give off a light of their own. "Well, it's lovely.", he muttered, plopping down into a squishy beanbag shaped like a Meowth's head. Kyra seated herself in his lap, making him sink deeper into the beanbag.

"I know,", Caramella sighed happily, twirling around the room, her arms outstretched. "it's my own little slice of heaven."

"By the way, are you even old enough to play those hentai games?", Meil asked with a small chuckle. She grinned. "Are you even old enough to have sex with your girlfriend?" Meil's face filled with color just as fast as Kyra's, but he managed a smirk. "Ah, well... Touche. But how did you know?"

"I'm in the order, duh!"

Meil's thoughts went back to that night in Nathan's house. There had been one member missing that day; Nathan was talking to Mammon about it.

"So, who exactly are you?", Meil asked.

"I'm Caramella Dansen! And Mammon Dansen is my older sister!"

"Oh, I see. So the order is still watching me?"

"Yah, they have too. With the monster sneaking around."

"Monster...?"

"You haven't heard of the sleeping illness?"

"I thought you said monster?"

"Everyone on the news says it's a sleeping illness because they never see it."

"See what?"

"The monster!"

"What the hell is, 'the monster'?!"

"Darkrai! Duh!"

"Darkrai? How the hell...? Why is Darkrai out there? I thought it was just a myth or something."

"No, Darkrai is real. And it's been going around; getting stronger. He eats peoples souls!"

"Souls?! No it doesn't!"

"Well, not really their souls. Nathan says, 'It consumes a persons conscious in a state of sleep, leaving their brains damaged beyond repair, and leaving it's victim an empty shell. A body with no mind.' It sounds pretty gross to me."

"But why is Darkrai here?!"

"The order is still trying to figure that out. We think it might be the New Moon Order Hazu's."

"The who?"

"The trainers that Albatross has either threatened, or have joined him intentionally, that serve him. They are his underlings you could say." She sat on the edge of her computer desk, an anime magazine crinkling under her bottom, as she began to swing her legs back and forth.

"With their master weak and in hiding, Nathan says that they are growing angry and desperate. Not to mention dangerous."

"So not only is Darkrai on the loose, but Albatross's followers as well? That's just great."

"Yah, it sucks. I don't like talking about it, but Nathan told me to pass it on. Hm, I need to dance. That always helps my mood."

"Dance?"

"Do you want to?"

"Um, no. Thanks."

She shrugged. "Okay." Walking over to her CD player, she popped out the previous CD, and popped in a new one. Pushing play, a high, electronic tune began to play, and a fast, synchronized voice began to sing in foreign language.

"My favorite!", Caramella squealed, clapping her hands, and jumping up and down. She began to dance ridiculously, throwing her hips side-to-side, and holding her hands up; palms curved, so that she looked like a dancing bunny.

Meil and Kyra were lost for words as she preformed this dance for two and a half minutes straight, her extraordinarily blue hair swaying in time to her dance. When the song ended, she lowered her arms, panting slightly.

"Ah, that was fun! What do you think?", she asked Meil and Kyra, who looked as though she might of stripped naked in front them, as opposed to her dancing, which looked like a belly dancer on caffeine. "It was...", Meil stared. Kyra finished for him.

"Bizarre."

:Authors Notes:
In one scene of the next Meil/Kyra chapter, Caramella will show Kyra some of her favorite anime characters.

If you can name the song that Caramella danced to in this chapter, your name, or the name of the character you request, will be named by her as one of her favorite anime characters, including anything else you want her to say about the character.

Just leave your guess in your review, or email me at: [email protected]

Hint: Caramella's first and last name are an altered version of the original song title. BTW, you will have time to tell me your guess, since the next two chapters are for Amy and Sandra's part of the story.

BTW, I do take story requests too.
