Story Notes:
This story is a trade with Balth-Lightning. For every 20KB I write she's drawing a picture for me.Warning: Chapters may contain explicit depiction of violence and bloodshed and may contain some mature sexual content.
Prologue
---
War: something everyone despises. It is the destruction of humanity. Ultimately, war is death, a contract. When enough people die it is fulfilled and ends until the need of a new contract.
Balth: the Lightning
Prologue
The air- it feels sad. It blankets all those within it with the chill of death. The ground all around is red of life that once was. The sky always seems to be mad. It never seems to be day around here. Have the inhabitants of this land been forsaken? Evil plagues the continent. Those who remain alive have learned to fight Evil with their own.
Time is running out. It's only a matter of time before all is dead. The beauty and gifts of nature are all ready gone. All that remains is wastelands. Good harvest is rare. It'll only be a matter of time before all the food is gone. All sources of water were nearly gone. Disease was everywhere. Everyone knew that they could die at any moment whether it be by nature or by homicide. Then of course there was always those who took the easy way out.
A good smile was hard to come by. Everyone all around worked hard. Avoiding death wasn't easy for the people here. Trust was a deity that was never spoken of. It was often hard to even trust one's self. Despair filled the minds of everyone. The souls of all had been become crusted by hate. Making a contract with death was the only way to survive; taking a life to save your own. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Justice is served.
Who would put an end to all of this? Definitely not the currently self-appointed leaders. There was no way that Gin: the Prosperous or Kyle: the Wise were going to get us out of this. They cared more about destroying each other then what was best for the people. The chaos has lasted so long that no one remembers what had originally caused it. Some have decided to blame Gin, others go on to curse Kyle.
No matter who received the blame nothing was ever solved. The cries of agony for a loved one would still haunt everyone's sleep each night. Citizens still starved. It seemed as if this would be the inevitable end for the land of Gin.
All that remained of any significance was Gin, Kyle, and their armies. Each with their own hierarchy. Those with the most charisma, strength, and dexterity were on the top. They lived their lives as if the plague didn't exists. Their stomachs always full. Everyone believed if they served well enough that they too could be blessed with a full stomach.
These two hierarchies branched off into many different sections throughout the continent. Each with their own house and ruler. The sectors were named after the ruler of the house that was in charge of it. Very few of these rulers did any good. Most of them were no better then the two heads. They killed for fun and never listened to reason. Money was given for the heads of those that opposed them.
Despite the murder, famine, disease, thievery, and the tyrants there were those that still hope to preserve innocence. That's exactly what this story is about. Innocence. It is in this entity that a savior was risen.Chapter End Notes:Nothing much here. Just a page explaining what the setting is like. Meh, I don't think I should have gone with this approach but usually when I go against my instinct it sucks. So yeah. Nothing much to see here folks. =
