Story Notes:

just read to find out what this story is all about. the first one I ever wrote, and it's hoding up quite good among the strangely great crowd.why is it that where I go, everyone suddenly begins to get really good? and I get really bad?

Two: The Visitor

Rasputin levitated back and forth in the room; he had his hand behind his back, and was deep in thought. Ragde was a complete contrast to him, sitting by the window, looking into the dark sky; he had the same worry, but was far more relaxed than his comrade. Rasputin could only eye him with some annoyance; finally, he spoke in an irritated voice "Damn... how can you just sit there and do nothing?" he said "Are you even remotely worried of what's happening?"
Ragde looked at Rasputin, his eyes were a little watery, he yawned as he spoke in a cool, calm voice that fitted his personality rather well "Relax! Things may seem to be bad... but remember; Olivia is with Edgar" he starched his arms in the air and took another deep yawn "you know well how she is."
Rasputin had completely forgotten about Olivia. He calmed himself just enough to avoid loosing his cool, but Rasputin was still quite worried, the cause of it been Gengar. Rasputin just couldn't shake the fact that something was wrong with that guy.
Ragde looked at his companion, but decided to keep quiet; Rasputin was known by them all to have a little temper problem, especially when it came to Gengar and sometimes even him and Olivia.
The three of them had been worried when Edgar had told them to go home, they had been quite hesitant to leave, but after he had fallen sleep, all three of them had left. When they had arrived home, they had found Gengar waiting for them. An evil smile stretched across his murky face as usual. The room had been dimly lit, which only made him appear even more malevolent than his usual. Even with his smirk, he appeared to have some hints of worry in his visage, something he rarely showed to anyone but himself and Edgar. At that moment, all three of them had known something was up, and they had wanted to find out what it was.
But before they could begin to ask questions, he had simply cackled and vanished into the shadows, something he did quite often to avoid speaking with anybody. His shadow had begun to move, and in a matter of seconds had exited the house and speed towards the surrounding woods. That moment, they had felt something was wrong.
But try as hard as they did, none of them would have been able to outrun him to wherever he was going. Olivia decided to use her clairvoyance to try and figure it out that was all she could do.
After seconds of concentration she had shaken her head in anger and told them of Gengar's destination. Rasputin could not believe that he had gone to the hospital, he was so ticked, that he wanted to run straight after him. Olivia on the other hand, did not wait for any kind of word or invitation, she had teleported after Gengar. Ragde and Rasputin where left to wait and see what would really happen.

"This is taking too long!" said Rasputin "We have to go there ourselves!" Rasputin was gearing towards the door when Ragde spoke out, still in his cool and calm tone "Fine then! If you want to go... then go!" he smiled as he spoke "But it will take you half an hour to get there... by then it might be too late." Rasputin was infuriated at Ragde's lack of care and reason.
He began to counterattack Ragde's train of thought with some fighting words "Just because you don't care, doesn't mean I don't!" he said it loudly and with the intention of flustering Ragde "that only shows you don't give a fuck what happens to Edgar!" Ragde got up, and made a leap, landing right in front of Rasputin, who looked surprised at his sudden outburst of energy. He spoke in a firm and rigid tone that for some odd reason fitted him perfectly as well "Don't tell me you have no trust in Olivia and Gengar?" he said "Sure... Gengar is an odd one... But I just can't picture him hurting Edgar... it's just a wrong idea to judge him so quickly. And even if by some sick twist of life Gengar decided to hurt Edgar, Olivia is present to stop him."
Rasputin still looked worried but stopped in his tracks. Ragde was right; he was getting to worked up about this, had he lost all his trust so easily? He spoke in a calm voice, but still maintained some tins of annoyance in it "Fine..." he took a deep breath "I guess your right, maybe we should just wait" He looked down but then looked up again at Ragde "But what if something already went wrong? What if the unthin-" he stooped short of his sentence when they both saw Gengar materialize in front of them from the shadows, his face beaming with joy for some unknown reason. Ragde spoke in a sarcastic manner.
"Well! Speak of the devil!" He smiled and crossed his arms. Rasputin on the other hand drew his conclusions, and spoke in an infuriated tone, forgetting everything that he had Ragde had just been talking about.
"WHAT DID YOU DO TO EDGAR?!" he screamed out loud. Ragde was surprised at Rasputin sudden change of tone, Gengar only smiled as he spoke in an almost laugh-like manner "Goes to show how much trust you have in me!" he laughed loudly and mockingly towards Rasputin, who was simply enraged.
"You hurt my feelings you know? It's not nice to scream at one of your own friends, especially after what he did!" he once again broke into laughter "Hahahahahaha!"

Rasputin took this phrase in every wrong way imaginable. Without another word, he began to charge for a shadowball attack, hell-bent on erasing Gengar's smirk of his face. Ragde now realizing Rasputin's more than killer intent began to panic, was Rasputin really about to do what he thought he was about to do? There appeared to be no stopping Rasputin with words, he was a rash one, and he couldn't blame him. Everyone had made him like that. Ragde found himself with little to no choice. He drew his arm back, balling his hand into a fist, and with incredible speed, he dashed behind Rasputin and smacked him in the back of the head with a fierce blow. Ragde had only intended to knock some sense into Rasputin's thick skull, but he somehow ended knocking his lights out. Rasputin slumped over, falling face first into the ground, completely out cold; a lump grew on the impact size, his eyes turned into swirls, his leg twitched several times.

Ragde could only marvel at the damaged he had inflicted upon Rasputin, hoping he hadn't caused any long-term damage.
"...Damn!" he said out loud "didn't meant for that to happen!"
Gengar simply began laughing.
"Hahahahahaha! Serves him right!" he said in an amused tone "he didn't even give me a chance to explain!" Gengar turned around to face Ragde who had sopped smiling the moment his gaze met Gengar's "So what happened?" he asked, Gengar smiled "Oh nothing really; just the fact that Edgar fell in love is a small matter to be spoken off; I think we can expect a wedding in a few months... hehehe! A first if you ask me, and hopefully a good sign for the world!" Ragde was a little confused, a weeding? Love? What was Gengar talking about?
Before Ragde even asked, Gengar remarked with a snickering smile "Oh... I see you still have no Idea what I meant, hehehe!" Ragde was becoming more curios by the second, Gengar simply chuckled "think about it just a little more; who among us not only loves master to the point of freaking fanaticism, but would be willing to die for him as well? And not to mention marry him if she could?" At this, all the confusion that Ragde had harbored melted away as joy took over his spirits, which rose higher than fireworks "Do you really mean!?" Gengar shook his head in amusement "What do I have to do? Write it down or something? Yes!" Ragde began to dance around in circles with joy and happiness. Gengar gave him a look of pure confusion, and some disgust. He glared at him "What's up with you now?" he asked, Ragde seemed to have ignored his question, he only took Gengar's hand and began to prance around the room, Gengar found himself quite surprised at this rather shocking turn of events, he was being dragged from corner to corner. He let out a yell "Let go of me!" Gengar screamed "you idiotic nimrod, LET ME GO!!" Ragde finally let go of Gengar, who dusted himself before bursting into laughter "So now what?" he said with a sarcastic tone "Has this become a 'dance around like an idiot' room or what?" he continued laughing, "Because I am really enjoying this! No really; keep going around in circles until you throw up or die for all I care!" Gengar turned around to try and have some thoughts for himself. Suddenly, Ragde grabbed Gengar by the shoulders and turned a displeased Gengar around "how'd he take it?" he said in an almost childlike tone "What did she say? Were there people around? Where are they now?" Gengar began to feel the strong urge to punch Ragde in the face. Gengar snorted and proceeded to speak in a cold tone, trying to hide his extreme displeasure.
"Fine! I'll tell you what happened!" he said before turning his face dead serious "But you have to promise that you'll stop with your freaky act! It's quite disturbing..." Ragde calmed himself down, but just barely. He sat down on Edgar's bed.
"Ok, here is how it went down..." Gengar coughed to clear his throat "this is how it went down..."

Gengar began to tell Ragde everything that had occurred. Starting with the serious discussion he and Edgar had engaged in. Gengar then proceeded to tell him about everything else, Gengar obviously had a good memory because he re-told everything as thought he had recorded it down on a camera or tape recorder. Ragde could barely contain his surprise at the fact that the room had been full of Pokemon and trainers when Edgar let his real feeling towards Olivia known to the world, but he was more shocked at the replies that they had gotten in return... applauses and cheers, something Ragde had not expected at all.

When Gengar finished the story, Ragde got up, and was very surprised to see Rasputin wide awake. Not only that, but he had tears in his eyes, and was to the point of sobbing and bawling. Ragde thought he knew why. He spoke in a father like figure, trying to comfort Rasputin "Hey... I'm sorry she choose Edgar instead of you"
Rasputin blushed and began to wipe his tears in a hurry, as if trying to hide his thoughts, Gengar only laughed in a cruel spirit "Too late waterworks!" he laughed, "You've been sniveling for the last five minutes!" he snorted "God you're such a baby!" Rasputin turned to face Ragde, ignoring Gengar as best he could. But to Ragde's surprise, Rasputin was smiling.
"I know I lost her, but it doesn't matter" he said in the most sincere form he could "she never really loved me much, she loved Edgar from the start... I'm just happy that she finally found her match... that's all I need. So I am happy..."

But for Rasputin, the contrary was actually the truth, for a few moments he found himself cursing at his slowness, and age. Not only that; but some rather nasty thoughts began to form in his head, some on how to dispose of a certain someone in the nastiest, most gruesome way imaginable. Gengar then talked in a serious tone, one that scared the crap out of both Ragde and Rasputin. They both turned around, feeling a deep chill run down both of their spines.
"Stop lying to yourself Rasputin!" he said in a deep dark tone "you know you are both heartbroken and enraged, I can feel it in your soul" Rasputin was shocked, but Silth's speech did not end there "I know that just for a few minutes back there you actually considered doing something to get her back!" Rasputin was amazed at Gengar. Why was he doing this? Rasputin turned to face Ragde who had a surprised look in his face; Rasputin lowered his head in shame.
"Am I that easy to read?" Ragde could not get the surprised look out of his face, but to make things worse Gengar continued his scolding "And what's more! I felt the actual intend to kill! Yes, kill! Your were going trough your mind how kill him best, you wanted it to be slow and painful..." Gengar took a step closer to Rasputin who was still frozen in place, unable to move an inch out of mortal fear "You had the idea of cursing him, didn't you? Or perhaps you thought about stabbing him while he didn't look? Or better yet, you could make it look like an accident by burning down the house. Yes, fire that would leave no trace of your action wouldn't it? WOULDN'T IT!?" Rasputin began to shiver, as much as he hated to admit it, those thoughts had gone trough his head, but Gengar had the wrong Idea... or did he?

Either way, Rasputin found himself cursing the fact on how could he become so jealous, so easily. He only wanted the best for all of them, if that meant loosing; he was ready to do it. But for some reason, Rasputin felt just so ashamed of his thoughts. Ragde looked infuriated at Gengar who simply continued.
"Hehehe... don't worry though, thoughts are just that, thoughts... unless you make them real, and they won't come true at all..." He turned around and got ready to leave the room. Rasputin now completely broken down, began to sob furiously, as if he was back to being a baby. Ragde snapped at Gengar in a vicious tone "You asshole! Why you go and make Rasputin feel so bad? You know well he's the youngest of us all!" Rasputin got a little mad at what Ragde had just said. He wanted to scream at him, but found he had no will to do it. He had been the last to evolve, but he wasn't that young... was he?

Rasputin began to wonder when his thoughts were cut short as he saw Gengar get close to him, Rasputin was furious at Gengar, but he was so much more afraid of him now. Gengar's smile was gone; he had a serious look in his face "... I'm... sorry" he said it as though it pained him intensely to utter those words. His face twisted from side to side, almost as if he had just tasted something extremely nasty. Rasputin could not believe his ears, had Gengar just said what he thought he had said? He opened his mouth, dumbstruck "Wha- what... what... did you say?"
Rasputin asked Gengar, his eyes widened as Gengar forcefully blurted the words once more, but this time, tins of anger where in them "I said I was sorry you little-" He raised his fist and began to shake it in the air; he then calmed himself down by biting his hand hard. He bit it to the point of drawing blood; Rasputin only stared at Gengar with outmost shock.
Had he done that to prevent himself from hurting him? Or was he just that crazy? Gengar turned around and got ready to leave. Ragde spoke before Gengar banished into the shadows "What the hell is up with you?" he said with the outmost confusion and anger.

Gengar only gave him a look of annoyance; he spoke in a cold voice.
"More than you can imagine... far more than you can possibly imagine... stay here."
And with those final enigmatic words, Gengar vanished into the shadows. Ragde knew something was wrong, but to his surprise, he saw Gengar's hand appear from the shadows and shot straight for Rasputin. He noticed the fist flying towards him, but had no opportunity to move or dodge it at all. The blow made contact with Rasputin in the back of the head. Rasputin grabbed at the spot where he had been struck, furiously rubbing it. Gengar spoke in his usual sarcastic voice "That's for been such a pussy! Hahahahahaha" his voice slowly faded away. And then, both Ragde and Rasputin knew he was gone. Rasputin held his hand to his eyes, expecting the worse. When he saw no blood, he spoke in an irritated tone of voice
"Damn that guy! Just one day I'll get him! Just watch Ragde!" he looked at Ragde, but something was bothering him. His gaze had shifted to outside the window. He had followed Gengar's trip from inside the house, to the outside, near the woods. But Ragde could not believe what he was seeing, it just couldn't be real, it had to be some king of illusion brought upon by his anger. Rasputin spoke trying to snap Ragde back to reality.
"RAGDE!" Ragde looked at him slowly, his eyes were still locked at something outside Edgar's house. His stare filled with what Rasputin recognized as horror. Rasputin got a little curious at what had caught Ragde's attention and fear. He walked towards the open window and took a look outside, his eyes widened, and the same horror that had struck Ragde stroke him as well.

Gengar was kneeling in front of a strange figure, it was huge, and had what appeared as wings on it's back. Its red eyes glowed in the shadows, and it's six legs stood firmly in the ground, even though the soil showed no signs of stress or pressure. Both Rasputin and Ragde recognized the figure almost instantly.
That being was supposed to be a legend, a myth, something that should not exist... but there it was! Speaking to Gengar, standing, breathing... Gengar seemed to be listening to everything it was saying, nodding every so often to show that he understood everything, and then, both Gengar and the being sank into the shadows vanishing.

Ragde, with a look of complete terror on his face, turned to face Rasputin, Rasputin knew why. If that thing was here, that could only mean one thing...

Edgar lay in the bed, the room almost feeling small now that he had a new companion with him. Olivia was laying on him, her head resting neatly on his chest; Edgar still vividly remembered how he had finally told Olivia how he felt.
Yet somehow, he knew she already had known from the start, had Olivia been waiting all this time for him?
Either way, it felt so much better to actually scream it to the world, who for some reason, actually applauded at his courage and balls. After the kiss, several other trainers who had been listening took after his examples and revealed just how they really felt to their Pokemon, some of which sobbed and cried in joy. Was this really the start of a new generation of pokemon and human relations? All that was left was to see if the greatest of miracles could actually happen...

Childbirth.

So much had happened that day; he had completely forgotten that he only had four days left before he lost it all.

But he didn't care anymore. Maybe he could fight it, maybe with his newfound strenght, he could push trough it and find a cure! He had to...
The more he thought about Olivia and the future both of them now shared, the more empowered he felt, but as he thought about it, a strong urge to protect Olivia fell on his mind. It was as thought he would fight anyone or anything who tried to hurt her, even himself! After all, she had done the same for him for such a long time; it was only fitting for him to return the favor.
Suddenly he felt fatigued, he was getting extremely drowsy... he could not hold his eyelids open for much longer.
He fell into a deep, peaceful sleep. One unlike any he had ever felt before... he blacked out completely... even forgetting what he had been thinking about.

Gengar rose form the shadows, a huge figure at his side. It was still completely covered in the shadows; it was barely able to fit into the room. Gengar spoke in an emotionless tone.
"I'm sorry Edgar, but the time has come..." Gengar turned around to see his companion; it spoke in a strong yet sultry voice, one belonging to a female.

"It is time Edgar Sysoles... it is time..."

**********************************************************

Back at Edgar's house, Ragde and Rasputin were in a panic. Running back and fort in the room, both of them completely freaked out by what they had just witnessed. Ragde finally stopped quite abruptly; Rasputin did not notice his sudden stop and crashed into him. As Rasputin fell on the ground, Ragde spoke in an urgent panicked voice "We have to do something! We have to go now! We got to call someone, anyone!" Rasputin shook his head, trembling from head to toe. He spoke while heavily stuttering, "D...D...DU...DUDE! HAVE YOU ANY IDEA WHAT THAT THING WAS!!!!!!"

Ragde only knew that thing from legends... But he never really thought any of them were real, that is, until now. She was huge, maybe standing at fourteen feet tall, they had both vividly seen her. She was the mistress of death, the pokemon's grim reaper, the one in charge of judging you in the end. Ragde could only look at his hands, which were trembling uncontrollably at the thought of what she came to do... Rasputin began to cry as he fell on the floor.
"Oh MAN!!!! What are we going to do? She is going to take Edgar and Olivia to the realm of the dead! Why, why, WHY?" Ragde ran towards Rasputin and gave him a punch, trying to get him back to his senses. But once again, Ragde knocked the poor Banette out cold.
Ragde was starting to question if he really was so strong, or if Rasputin was so weak...

Ragde had to think of something fast, but what? He looked at the unconscious Rasputin and grabbed him, he held him like a baby at first in his arms, then he tosses him on his shoulder and jumped out the window, Ragde began to run as fast as he could towards the hospital "Damn it, I hope I'm not too late, Damn, Damn, Damn..."

He continued cursing his slow speed as he tried his hardest to go faster; but with Rasputin in his shoulder, he had to be careful, otherwise he could accidentally knock the poor guy into the floor, and possibly cause further injury. He continued dashing forward dreading at the thought of what could be happening in the hospital.
