Story Notes:

just read to find out what this story is all about. the first one I ever wrote, and it's hoding up quite good among the strangely great crowd.why is it that where I go, everyone suddenly begins to get really good? and I get really bad?

Eight: Legion

Edgar was feeling like crap, his body was literally tearing itself apart. No matter how much he held the pain in, it was just too much; it was eating him. But he knew what he had to do, he had to keep going, he had to stop Silth, at any cost... even if it meant his life.

**********************************************************
Sain was quite busy directing his troops to attack. For the first time in the whole fight, he had managed to turn the battle around. His soldiers where finally doing damage to Sectram's nearly unbeatable Imperfects. But as hard as they where fighting, they where only managing to hold them back enough to stay alive. The whole city had become one giant battlefield. Every road, every building, every open space was lit up by the fierce flames of combat. Sain had come quite prepared for battle and had everything to match Sectram's forces, that included siege weapons, heavy tanks, gunships, and lots of well trained warriors that up to a few minutes ago had been itching to go twenty rounds with a tyranitar. But even if Sain's troops could hold their own rather well, they where not imperfects; which meant that in comparison to Sectram's troops, Sain's men where china dolls. The whole city continued to rumble under the weight of shouts, explosions, and rolling tanks. Several buildings where already beginning to fall apart from the intense fighting. Things where quickly going from bad to worse. No way to tell how many normal people had been caught up and killed in the crossfire. That is if there was still anyone normal in Jubilife.

Sain had been too busy to notice the tank fire a missile at him, it got closer every second that passed by, it looked as though the shot would hit it's mark when suddenly Sain felt something tackle him out of the way, the shot screeched on by at mach speed, until finally it came to an explosive stop at the foot of a building, which then proceeded to collapse. Sain opened his eyes and the first thing he saw was black scales, followed by a burned rose. Sain got up quickly and turned his head towards someone he never though he would see again...

An old friend.

"What the hell? Torn? Is that you?"

Torn turned her body around and faced his old comrade

"Well, well, well. If it isn't Sain. How you doing?"

Sain snickered

"Was about to ask you the same thing. I see that you still look... the same"

Torn laughed hard

"What? Do I still turn you on? Hahahahahaha!"

Sain shook his head

"Please, don't make me laugh. Anyway, who's side you on?"

Torn shook her head

"On yours. Why else would I save your sorry skin for?"

Sain dusted off his coat and took a look around the battlefield, he began to scan the surroundings when his eyes rested on Torn's sultry figure, for a moment, Sain lost all thoughts from his head, but then, he snapped out of it. Torn took notice of this

"Still getting the same reaction, aren't you?"

Sain kept quiet when suddenly, two more charizard girls appeared from seemingly nowhere. Both of them eyed Sain with curiosity, and then turned to face their sister. Mel was the first to speak

"Hey torn, who is this guy?"

Torn faced her sister

"He's the old friend I told you about"

Mel laughed

"You mean the one who saw you naked?"

Torn blushed and shouted to her sister at the top of her lungs

"MEL!!!"

Mel only laughed, both Torn and Sain blushed. They hated to admit it, but both of them had quite a history. You could even say that they both would have made a good couple. Sain shook his head, something was bothering him, Torn had no sisters, and he decided to ask

"Torn, why do these two call you sister?"

Torn chuckled

"Long story short, they are like family to me, they know everything about me, and I know everything about them, it's only natural that we call each other sister. It's a girl thing.

Sain only looked confused

"Aren't they Imperfects?

Torn shook her head

"Yes they are, and so am I, one day you'll understand my chosen path, but for now, that's the way the cookie crumbles"

Sain knew well what she meant, especially after what she had gone though in the past. Life had more than one path.

Both Mel and Sheryl had been staring at Sain, they seemed to be fascinated by his look, both of them called out to Torn

"Yo sis! We where wondering, was he part of the experiments as well?"

Torn got ready to speak, but Sain stole the words from her mouth

"Yes, we where both part of project Legion, we where some of the first human to pokemon morphs"

Mel then shook her head

"But things when wrong, right?"

Both Sain and Torn spoke in unison

"Yes, they did... yes, they did..."

Sain began to recall bitter memories of his past life, as bad as things had been, they only got worse when they met Silth. He began to retell his story out loud

**********************************************************

The year was 1946, WWII was supposed to have ended with Hitler's death, but things never went according to plan. A new group had taken control of what remained of the third Reich, they where a group that would one day become know as the Cypher syndicate. During the six years of the war, both human and pokemon had found themselves in the middle of the battle, and both sides felt the heavy loss of life. But after the Rise of the Cypher in Germany, it became clear that drastic measures needed to be taken in order to end the fighting once and for all. The German forced where already decimated, what remained was slowly breaking under the combined assaults of every country in the world. The leaders of a broken Germany decided to gamble on what they viewed as their only hope for victory. The one man they gave their full trust to was Silth. And he had a plan that; if it worked, would not only guarantee total victory for the Nazis, but would also usher a new era in evolution and genetics as we know them.

"I'm telling you! This could work! All I need is 10,000 subjects to test on!"

Silth was pleading with General Chadron Airrovach, successor to Hitler's regime after his death, many of the other generals did not trust Chadron at all, he had appeared out of nowhere and seized power for himself. Regardless of what Silth though, if he had his approval, he could do anything he wanted. Chadron sighted and spoke in a firm tired tone to Silth, the pressure was slowly getting to General Chadron

"We have no more resources to spare, every soldier we still have alive is in the front lines, we just have no more man power to spare, and even if we did, we need the money to keep our troops fit for the battle. So far all of your genetic experiments have failed! We just can't rely on this alone!"

Silth took one gulp, but remained standing firm

"General Chadron! This time, it's foolproof! I have worked out all the bugs and problems that plagued the previous attempts! Just give me one more chance, and I am sure I can deliver the Legion corps in time to turn the tide of the war in favor of Germany!"

Chadron took another deep sight

"Silth, I have a question for you"

Silth took a deep gulp and replied in a hurry

"Yes?"

Chadron turned to face Silth

"Why are you trying to create a hybrid army instead of super soldiers?"

Silth laughed

"Are you kidding? You know what kind of power pokemon hold. Sure, most of them are wild, but it's that raw untamed power that gives them such strenght, if a human had those powers, you could have an unbeatable army that no country in the world would be able to go against, you could eve-"

Chadron raised his hand; Silth understood it as a sign to shut up. Chadron continued to sight, he took one long look outside his window to see several wounded soldiers been treated. He turned to face Silth

"Fine, you have my permission to use POW soldiers for your sick experiment. But I will have nothing to do with it"

Chadron got closer to Silth. Silth could literally smell his breath; it was rancid from lack of sleep and stress

"But head my words! If you fail me one more time, I will personally see to it that the rest of your life is nothing but a void of suffering and pain from which you will never escape!"

Silth took a deeper gulp, but he managed to give Chadron a small evil smile

"Hehehe! You will eat your words. Just watch me."

And with that, Silth took his leave from Chadron's office. Chadron only kept a glare on the guy as he left.

Silth finally got to his lab, and took 10,000 syringes from his storage, Chadron had kept his word and 10,000 POW's where tied to several beds, some where struggling to get free, others where cowering in fear of what was to come, some where not even awake. Among the thousands of men and women, stood three soldiers: one American, one Japanese and one German. Even thought America and Japan had started as enemies, the war forced both superpowers to become allies, especially after Germany's betrayal to imperial Japan. Because of this course of action by the Germans, the nuclear bomb was never used on Japan, and was instead used on Germany, but those two explosions seemed to have done nothing to dent the German course of action. Germany had even attempted an invasion of the U.S.A by means of a fleet of airships that had had been created in part thanks to Silth. The German soldier had been sent to prison because of an assassination attempt on Silth. Silth was the equivalent of Archimedes, he was hundreds of years ahead of his time, mostly in part thanks to him being the worlds first Morph, a cross between a human and a Gengar. Therefore he knew the past, the present, and to a certain extend, the future; and that made him a prime target for assassination, but regrettably he could never die, mostly because in a sense he was already dead. The German soldier had also been found to be an informant and spy to the allies; therefore he was considered a traitor. It was a miracle he was not executed yet. Silth continued to walk back and forth between his lab and the barrack where all the experimental subjects rested; his mind was racing back and forth between thoughts of anger and opportunity

"Dammit, things are not going as planned! How can I take over if Chadron is so suspicious? Hitler freaking worshiped me, hell! If it weren't for me Germany would have already loss the damn war! I should be the one leading Germany, not HIM!!!"

Silth was simply infuriated at his inability to take control of Germany when had had the chance, what was his near godlike powers for? He had both a part of Arceus and Ixol's soul locked within him, he could easily destroy anyone or anything that got in his way, but in a sense, Silth liked to do things the hard way. What was the used of having so much power if nobody feared you as a leader? He looked at the box of syringes he had in his arms, he had no doubts they would work; he had made them with the same formula he had used on himself during the dark ages. But what use was delivering an entire platoon of foot soldiers to someone he loathed? He might as well be the one controlling them. He gripped the syringes, as he got ready to make history by turning 10,000 humans into Poke morphs.

The American soldier continued to struggle against his bonds; he was determined to get the hell out. He was not going to become someone's guinea pig for some sick experiment. Suddenly he heard a distinct voice call his name

"Give it up Sain. There is no escape from this, might as well face your fate with honor"

Sain turned to face the Japanese soldier who was lying right next to him. Had it been a couple of months ago, Sain would have held only hatred towards this man, but things had changed drastically, as it turned out, this was one of Sain's closest friends, his name was Chinigamy, or most commonly Torn, as he was called by the rest of the soldiers in his unit. Another voice rang from Sain's right

"Don't give up just yet! We CAN get out of this!!"

Sain shook his head. Xotil, or Mephisto as some called him, was the German soldier that had been helping the allies at the risk of his own life. He had received many medals through the war for his efforts. He was one of the best; he was so good, that a special unit was formed around his abilities, the black ops. From the group only he remained alive. Silth himself captured him when Xotil tried to kill him. Sain and Xotil went back a long time, but they had never really been close friends, more like rivals in a sense. Even if Sain never took his word seriously, Xotil had a point. Sain just couldn't give up in such a hurry, he needed to fight on till the very end, that was his motto, and that was his goal in life. But up to this point, it appeared that all hope was lost. He was just too weak to do anything, he had not eaten a decent meal in an eternity, his muscles where a mere far cry of what they used to be, he had never felt so helpless in his life. Sain had reached the point of pure depression; he was just about ready to give up and jump off the cliff.

Silth entered the room with the POWs, everything went quiet, Silth could feel whimpering and heavy breathing, but not a word. He smiled; things would be as easy as he thought. He began to concentrate and all 10,000 syringes began to float in the air, Sain immediately realized that this man was using psychic, but it was not possible for humans to have such powerful metal capabilities, he knew because he had worked with a group of ESPers called the majestic twelve about a year ago, not even their powers could match this guy's. Without even thinking, Sain spoke to Silth

"What do you want with us? What are going to do?"

He spoke with no fear or anger, Sain seemed calm and collected, and Silth knew it. He walked up to him and chuckled

"You will have the privilege of becoming something that will take humanity into the next steps of evolution. You should all be proud of been handpicked for this, your war records show that you where the best at what you did before being captured and imprisoned"

Sain lashed out in anger

"Just what the hell do you mean?"

Silth looked at him in the eyes, and smiled

"Hehehe! You seem to have the most willpower from everyone here, I can feel it permeating from your very anima, and you have worked with ESP and other paranormal beings in the past, not only that, but you have a good history as a trainer from before the war. Hehehehehehe, you will make the excellent leader of this new army!"

A growled could be heard coming from Xotil

"WHAT ARMY! WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU PLAN YOU SICK BASTARD!!!"

Silth walked over to Xotil and gave him a long look, Xotil could feel Silth's gaze pierce into his soul

"And you! You have much willpower and anima energy! Your strenght is incredible, and there are many things inside of you that you don't even know about! Not only that, but I have fought you in the past, so I know what your abilities really are. But your anima energy is not as strong as I hoped for. Hehehe, either way you are good second-in-command material, you should feel lucky!"

At this Silth walked towards the middle of the room. Xotil was left with nothing but pure rage at him, how could he have been defeat by him? Silth continued his monologue

"You should all feel proud of what you're all about to become! You are about to take a step towards immortality and pure power! You are all about to become the second generation of morphs in this world! With your new genetic modifications, you will all obtain power beyond anything you thought possible! You will live one hundred times your normal life span, and you will be able to do anything a pokemon can do! You should all be glad of being chosen!"

Torn knew what this madman spoke of, he had seen the projects firsthand. The japans empire had been working on such experiments before Germany attacked them, but the experiments had ended in total failure. The morphs had not survived a single day. Not only that, but also not all subjects experienced the physical changes that where believed would happen. Torn still had nightmares from the results, no amount of therapy would ever erase those images from his mind.

Sain only widened his eyes, he a rather disturbing thought ran through his mind

"Second generation? Could this man really be him? No! It's not possible, it just isn't!"

Silth concentrated and then, without warning, pierced the skin of all 10,000 subjects with the syringes, he could hear screams of agony and pain as the men began tremble and shake from the pain. Sain could feel his body change. Suddenly, his bounds vanished before his eyes, and he stumbled into the ground; he could feel his bones begin to crack from whatever was going on inside of his body. His skin began to change texture and color as well, it was turning purple black. The agony was just too much to bear, he began to pass out from the intense pain, and he could feel something rip through his back, his mind only raced back and forth at what was happening not only to him, but everyone around him. Darkness greeted him soon after.

Xotil could feel something was very wrong with his body as he began to experience physical changes that up to that point he would have believed to be impossible. His skin began to take on the texture of rock, and began to change into a brown cooler, he could feel something begin to wrap around his head, and it felt like some kind of skull. He screamed in agony as he too passed out from the pain.

Chinigamy began to experience something unlike anything he had ever felt before in his life, but another pain struck him just as suddenly, it was as though someone had kicked him in the testicles and never taken his foot of. Suddenly, he began to experience a new kind of agony as he felt as though he was being castrated, he realized something was horribly wrong, he reached his hand towards the syringe that was still plunged into his right arm, unburied it, and took a look at it. His horror was only multiplied tenfold when he took a look at the label

'Extract from black Charizard
WARNING: FOR FEMALE USE ONLY
PS. use on a male will result in total sex change of said subject, avoid at all cost unless wishing to cause extreme awkwardness and anger.
Signed: Silth^^'

"That...BASTARD!!!!"

He screamed at the top of his lungs as he took his hand hoping to feel his family jewels, instead he felt a flat area, and he found a hole. He felt like crying, but he could not, he was too weak, and passed out soon afterwards.

Silth felt the distress coming from this subject, when he looked at the syringe in his hand he began to laugh

"HAHAHAHA, at lest I know that my theory is right! But how the hell did that get in these? Oh well, what is done, is done!"

Silth felt proud of what he had done, before his eyes laid hundreds of newly created morphs, about 60% of them where charizard, the rest where of other powerful pokemon, mostly dragon types, and a few ghost types like himself where among the mix. Silth felt like gloating, but he knew otherwise. Things where finally going according to plan, and soon this new army would bring him fame and fortune, not to mention sweet revenge.

**********************************************************

"And that's how it happened. Soon afterwards, we where all called 'Legion' and used in combat quite effectively, not that we had a choice. But it was already too late to help Germany; they fell soon afterwards when Silth killed General Chadron and the rest of the Nazi generals. In a sense you can thank him for ending Nazi tyranny. Afterwards he gave us an airship and told us to forge our own future, he had bigger fish to fry. That was the last any of us saw of him, that is until today"

Sain had just finished the long overly complicated story; Torn had nodded the whole time, her sisters where only looking shocked, they had no Idea that Chinigamy and the others had gone through so much to be what they are now today. Right behind Sain was Mephisto, he had stopped by to listen to the story, and to their left; much to their surprise was Sectran. He began to laugh

"So, we are like brothers then?"

Sain jumped up and turned around ready to fight, but was only greeted by a hand

"Please, you know well as I do that this is a pointless fight. We are doing much more damage to the city than to ourselves, I call for a truce. Silth and me have other plans anyway.

Sain snarled

"And what are those plans?"

Sectran laughed

"He plans to unleash the spores into the air, so that the whole world can become just like us!"

Sain only gasped

"HE WANTS TO MAKE MORE IMPERFECTS!"

Sectran crossed his arms

"Precisely! The only one that can stop him now is Edgar, too bad he is so weak"

Sain shook his head. Sectran spoke once again

"Silth is not the real enemy, there are others that have more evil agendas in store. Silth only hopes to turn humans into Imperfects so that they have a hope to survive. The end of the fourth age draws very near, maybe within a couple of hours. And you know as well as I do what that means"

Sain, Torn and Xotil looked at each other, the fifth age was drawing near? If that was true then that could only mean one thing...

The shift. Sain only looked depressed

"There goes humanity"

Sectran laughed

"Not if Silth has anything to say about it"

**********************************************************

The crystal was glowing brighter than ever before, she could feel the power radiating from it, Ho-Ho dreaded what it meant, and so many would die, but why?

"Have Regigas ready, the new age draws near, we only have a few hours left before the shift. We will need all of his armies if we wish to dominate this world. Spare no human unless I say so!"

Ho-Ho's heart felt heavy, she did not want anyone to die, but she knew well that there would be death. She wanted nothing else to do with this plan, but she had no choice...

She could not defy the word of a god. She could not defy Arceus.

**********************************************************

Silth was ready to do his part, he knew that up to this point, he had only done evil, but the world was already evil in it's own right, they needed no help from him at all anymore. But he still needed the most important part of the whole machine, the Imperfect god Edgar. Silth knew he would come, Silth knew well just how stubborn Edgar could really be. Finally all the pieces where falling together, his glorious plan would finally be realized, and the world would soon be different, as much as he hated the fact that it would never be his, he knew well that he would always be there to see it and guide it, like he had done in so many occasions. And frankly, he was getting tired of never getting credit for it.

But this time it was different, this time his plan would succeed, all of his hard work would save humanity, and that is all he needed to know. The council would not have the last laugh, and Arceus would not have the last laugh either. If anybody was going to laugh, it would be him.
Chapter End Notes:once again, review if you plase. next one should be coming soon. you can consider this one an arch of the story
