Chapter 3
*Following Mimi
Mimi swam through the ocean. After about ten minutes of swimming, she found her cave. As she entered, she examined a picture on the wall of her and her mother. Mimi always thought her mother was a very beautiful Milotic, and she hoped that someday she would be that beautiful. An invisible tear drifted from her eye as she reminded herself that she was gone. She looked at the other picture on the wall. It showed her mother, father, and finally, her in between the both of them. She thought about her dad, and how he used to always be very protective of her. How he always was over-protective of her. Whenever a strange poke'mon came near, he always was ready to attack them if they so much as gave her a strange look. Life had gotten a lot harder ever since the men in red and black suits took her mom and dad away.
Mimi: "I miss you mama..."
She lie down and saw her most prized possession, a light blue poke'ball. She had never really liked it so much, that is, until her trainer deserted her. It was the only thing she really had to remember her old life by. Her new parents were better though, and loved her just as much as if she was her real parents. In fact, she never even knew her real parents, because she was too little to remember. As she was lying there with her parent's image in her head, she slowly drifted into sleep.
*Back to Jeremy...
Jeremy arrived at the poke' store, which was a bit further along the path leading from town to a new region. He walked in the door and a small belled chimed as a mankey jumped down from the ceiling and landed behind the counter.
Mankey: "I'm Ichin, the owner of thiis store! Whaddya want?!"
Jeremy: "Umm, hi, I'm Jeremy. Do you sell gifts?"
Ichin: "Do I?!"
Jeremy: "Do you?"
Ichin: "Of course I do!! Let me show you where they are."
Ichin jumped over the counter and ran to the leftmost aisle.
Ichin: "All of our gifts are here."
Jeremy: "Wow."
Jeremy looked down the aisle. It was huge! It seemed it had everything a pokemon could ever want! From small gifts like pokeblocks, to more expensive gifts like a solid gold pokeball.
Jeremy: "What would you recommend for a girl?"
Ichin: "Ahh, well that all depends on how much you are planning to spend now doesn't it?"
Jeremy: "Money is no object to me, I just want a really good gift."
Ichin: "How about a diamond collar?"
Jeremy: "I guess that sounds about right, how much?"
Ichin: "Oh, only about 9,000,000p.
Jeremy: "N-nine million?!"
Ichin: "Uh, yeah, do the math an, this is solid diamond. Means two things. It wont break on you and its expensive as hell."
Jeremy: "Well, I guess I'll take it."
Jeremy took out a check and struggled to scribble a barely legible 9,000,000 on it using his mouth. He gave the check to Ichin and walked out the door holding a small box with a pink ribbon on it as the small bell on the door jangled again. Noticing that the sun was descending behind the hills in the distance and night was beginning to fall, he began to walk a bit faster.
Stranger: "Help!"
Jeremy stopped and looked around, trying to see where the voice had come from. As he did so, he saw a large billow of smoke above the trees.
Jeremy: "Fire!"
He ran as quickly as he could through the forest and found one of the pokemon houses that had caught fire. He ran towards it, dropping the gift in front of the house and jumping through the window. The flames licked violently at the walls and the black smoke permeated through the entire house. A beam from the roof fell, sending small embers flying everywhere. Through the intense fire, Jeremy could see a mother Pikachu holding a small pichu in her arms.
Pikachu: "Please help us!"
Jeremy: "Don't worry, I'll get you out of here!"
He ran to where they were standing and lowered himself to the ground.
Jeremy: "Get on!"
The pikachu quickly obeyed and hopped onto Jeremy's back. As soon as they were securely on, he bolted out of the window where he came in. They had arrived outside safely.
Pikachu: "Thank you so much! I 'm sorry that I have no way to thank you properly."
Jeremy: "That's fine. Here's some money to go rent a hotel for the night, take care ok?"
Pikachu: "Oh, bless you! If you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to ask me."
Jeremy: "Well, you have a good night."
Jeremy handed her the money, grabbed his gift from where he left it, and continued walking home.
A few moments later, he was at his house. He placed the gift on his dresser next to his bed and then lay down. He tried to think of what could have started the fire, considering that the climate wasn't enough to start natural fires. Then he remembered the large fence blocking view of something being built. It couldn't have been the humans... could it? He decided to sleep on it and figure out what to do in the morning after he met with Mimi.
* * * *
Jeremy woke up feeling refreshed and happy. He had two things to do today: Meet with Mimi, and to go and find out what was being built behind that huge fence. Jeremy began to walk out the door when he caught a scent. It smelled like... like death? And it was coming from somewhere in his house! He smelled around, but couldn't quite put his nose on what it was. He let out a sigh. Wait a second! He thought to himself, and let out another sigh. He sniffed the air where he was.
Jeremy: "Wow, that's embarrassing..."
Jeremy had realized that his breath smelled horrible, as did most of him. He grabbed a backpack from his closet and slipped it on his back. He put a few things in it: His gift to Mimi, A wad of cash, and a bit of food. After he was done packing, he walked out into the bright afternoon sun. He walked once again towards town. It seemed that something had just become top priority. He blushed in embarrassment as the pokemon around him stared and covered their noses, trying to keep their distance from him. It turns out that not getting cleaned for around 3 days takes it's toll. Town soon came into view, and Jeremy picked up is pace towards the grooming shop.
Shinx: "Hey, my buddy Jeremy!"
Jeremy: "Yeah, Fiona, look I need a cleaning. Bad."
Fiona: covering her nose "Yes, I can see that."
Poor Jeremy blushed even more as the shinx giggled and opened up a large gas chamber.
Fiona: "You know the drill, get in and don't breathe for ten seconds."
Jeremy walked into the chamber as the glass door shut behind him. Fiona ran to the controls, and pushed a large red button. Knowing his cue, Jeremy held his breath. The chamber filled with a blue sparkly gas, and enveloped Jeremy as it quickly faded. He looked at Fiona, waiting for her to open the door, but instead, she pushed another button.
Jeremy: "What are you doing?"
Fiona could not hear him, so all he did was hold his breath again as a new gas enveloped him. It was a sort of pinkish red and shiny mist. It faded and the door opened. Jeremy walked out very shiny and clean.
Fiona: "Well, we're looking sexy, huh?"
Jeremy: "What was that pink stuff?"
Fiona: "Oh that was a formula of mine. Makes you pretty much irresistible to females. Doesn't work on me though, so don't even try it."
Jeremy: "Why did you put it on me?"
Fiona: "Just a bit of persuasion for your girlfriend."
Jeremy: "But how-"
Fiona: "Word gets around quickly. Ichin told me."
Jeremy: "Well what do I owe you?"
Fiona: "Nothing, this one's on me. Go get her tiger."
Jeremy: "Thanks Fiona, I owe you one!"
And with that, Jeremy headed for the beach. Once he arrived, he saw Mimi eagerly waiting for him at the shore.
Jeremy: "Hey, Mimi!"
Mimi's eyes lit up as she heard his voice.
Mimi: "Hey Jeremy!"
Jeremy: "Um, why did you have to run, I mean, swim off so quickly yesterday? Are you okay?"
Mimi: "Yeah, I just didn't want to tell you the real reason that I couldn't come with you."
Jeremy: "Well why can't you?"
Mimi: "Well I... I can't be on land."
Jeremy: "But I've seen lots of water pokemon on land. You'll be fine!"
Mimi hung her head.
Mimi: "You don't understand..."
Jeremy: "Understand what?"
Mimi: "It's not that I'm not able to, its just..."
Jeremy: "What is it?"
Mimi: "I'm scared of leaving the water."
Jeremy: "Why is that?"
Mimi: "I would rather not say."
Jeremy: "Oh, come on. Please?"
Mimi: "Well, It's just that around two weeks ago, my parents were taken by humans in red and black suits. I think they called themselves team rocket."
Jeremy: "Team rocket? Never heard of them."
Mimi: "Well ever since my parents were taken by team rocket, I've felt like I'll betaken away too if I leave."
Jeremy: "Oh... That's too bad."
Mimi: "By the way, Jeremy, I wanted to give you something..."
She swam under the surface and came back up holding her prized blue pokeball in her mouth.
Jeremy: "What's that?"
Mimi: "It's my most prized possession. It's my pokeball. It has a story behind it, and maybe I'll tell you it sometime."
Jeremy took the ball and put it in his little backpack. When it was safely in, he took out the small box with the pink ribbon and gave her it.
Mimi: "What's this?"
Jeremy: "That's something I bought you. I thought you might like it."
Mimi approached the box and quickly bit the ribbon off. She then nudged the lid off. Her eyes met the bright shine of the diamond collar, and sparkled just as brightly.
Mimi: "This... is... for me?"
Jeremy: "Yup."
Mimi: "How much did you spend on it? This is beautiful..."
Jeremy: "I'm not telling."
Mimi: "Oh, please put it on for me. I can't do it myself. Please?"
Jeremy: "Of course."
Jeremy grabbed the collar out of the box and wrapped it around Mimi's neck. After he buckled it, he stepped back to look at it. He couldn't believe how beautiful it looked on her.
Mimi: "Are you okay?"
Jeremy: "Huh?"
Mimi: "Never mind. Thank you so much... I love it! I've never received a gift this nice from anyone!"
Jeremy: "You really like it?"
Mimi: "You'd have to be crazy not to love it!"
The sight of Mimi this happy overjoyed Jeremy. He felt like something he'd never felt before. It was like happiness mixed with nausea and butterflies in his stomach. There were so many things he wanted to tell her, but no way to say it. But then, He found a way to express himself. A way of making these feelings known. A way to make her see.
Jeremy: "I love you."
Mimi grew silent. Her eyes, though Jeremy thought it not possible, sparkled even brighter than before.
Mimi: "What did you say?"
Jeremy: "I said... I love you."
Mimi: "I love you too."
The two of them stood there, looking into each other's eyes as they leaned in for a kiss. Their lips touched, and both of them were lost in complete bliss. Once they separated, they spent the whole rest of the day together. Jeremy had decided to explore the big gate tomorrow.Chapter End Notes:I'm still working on chapter 4, which is going to be the longest so far. but in the meantime, please be patient, and thank you for reading
