Story Notes:
a somewhat oddshot story of mine, I think you will recognise the premise for it later on, I also have something special planned for this, but I will only do it, If I get 100 reads in this chapter.
Trapped
Landshark
Narrator (me):
One thousand years have passed since I.D. (imperfect day) the day that the world changed dramatically in only a couple of hours. One thousand years since a terrible war has reduced most of the world into an inhospitable wasteland. Water and food being a rare commodity, the people who live in the affected areas either have to adapt to a more savage way of life, or be blown away with the dust. But even in this harsh environment, humans, imperfects, morphs, and pokemon have found ways to survive. But the sands hold many stories, many secrets, many dangers, for in this savage land, only the strongest survive.
No one knew that better than Cider. His life up to this point being nothing but a mix of suffering, hatred, and vendetta. For Cider holds a grudge against one of the most powerful clans of the land... the Land sharks. But an unexpected twist of fate may yield the key to his salvation, and redemption. Or it may as well lead to his damnation.
We find Cider in a very unfortunate situation. Trapped in a cave, with only his enemy to keep him company. But this is where his story begins, and this is where his test starts...
Cider:
'Those who hunt monsters should we weary to not become one in the process' words of wisdom passed down by my late father, his death the result of his own doing, but he was nonetheless, backstabbed by those he had considered his friends, damn muff... there I go again mumbling to myself....
It was a dark cave; void, cold, damp, and hopeless. Two figures sat in at different ends of the cave. A small flare the only source of light. Cider sat, checking his ammo, making sure his Mk3A1 jackhammer could still fire if he needed it to. Cider was a young man in all aspects of his look, especially since he was 17. He wore a long sand colored jacket-like tunic that shrouded his entire body, save for his legs, arms, and head. His hair was short on the sides, but long in the middle. His skin color was surprisingly light, especially since he lived in a desert. His weapon of choice was a replica combat jackhammer shotgun that he himself had modified to accommodate several types of ammunitions. It could fire single, burst, and full auto. All mercenaries needed a good weapon, or risk death at the hands of pirates, bandits, and other mercenaries looking for a quick buck.
At the other end of the cave sat a female Garchomp morph, her name was Jasmine, and she was clad in battle armor, the type used by Landsharks, only thing missing being her helmet. Her figure showed maturity but in reality, she was no older than sixteen. She was weary of Cider, after all, a couple of hours ago, both of them had been determined to kill each other, not because they wanted to, but because they both stood in total opposite sides of the spectrum. Cider was the notorious "sand demon" a hunter who had never know defeat, his very name inspired fear and hatred in her clan. Jasmine on the other hand, belonged to one of the most powerful clans in this area, maybe even the world. the Landsharks, that of course, made Cider her enemy. She just kept eyeing Cider with fear, any second now, Cider could kill her, she had no way of defending herself from long distances, all she would be able to do would be to run. Her digging ability rendered useless in this rocky cave. Cider kept cleaning his weapon, when he noticed the female eyeing him with some weariness. He smiled.
Cider:
You know, there is no point in killing you here.
Jasmine simply looked at him
Jasmine:
What do you mean? You never showed any mercy when you hunted others from my clan!
Cider only laughed
Cider:
That's because all of them where cheating, low end, bottom of the barrel scum that deserved nothing, not even the shit under my feet. You're a female; I don't kill females unless I have good reason.
Jasmine eased her worries only slightly, but still maintained a high sense of weariness, just in case this guy tried anything
Jasmine:
Chivalry? You actually have chivalry?
Cider:
Maybe
Jasmine:
I still don't trust you
Cider:
I wouldn't expect as much, after all, I did try to kill you; it's only natural.
Both figures only kept staring at one another, Cider started to feel some cramps in his stomach, he hated to admit it, but this girls was actually a little good looking, even if she was his target. Jasmine kept thinking about how she had gotten into this mess, and why she was still alive. That explosion should have killed them both, yet...
Jasmine:
...Why did you save me? Aren't I your enemy?
Cider kept quiet
Cider:
.................................................
Jasmine:
I guess I shouldn't expect you to tell me...
Cider:
............................ I guess... I saved you because you remind me of her so much....
Jasmine:
Huh? Who?
He got up and started to walk towards the flare
Cider:
It's a long story. And besides, I'm not going to tell you, just know it's your damn clan's fault! The flares almost out. Guess I have no choice but to move deeper into this cave.
Jasmine:
Why? Its dark, and you have no Idea what is deeper inside.
Cider:
Better that staying here and doing nothing but wait for starvation to kick in. Besides, you can't dig your way out of here.
Jasmine knew he was right, this bedrock was too tough for her to break, she would need some kind of heavy drill. This rock was almost like metal. She stared as Cider began to walk deeper into the cave
Jasmine:
Where, where are you going!
Cider:
I'm not going to kill you, but that doesn't mean I'm going to baby-sit you either. If you want to stay here and die, then you be my guest. But I'm getting the hell out of here with or without you, goodbye!
Cider opened another flare, and he began to walk deeper into the cave, Jasmine simply sat there, the flare in the middle of the floor already dying, in seconds, the last of the light died down, and it was darkness.
Cider continued to walk down the dark cave, the deeper he moved, the colder it got, his flare being the only source light in his way deeper into this void. Cider felt footsteps behind him, he unclipped his gun and pointed at the figure that was following him. His handgun of choice, a C96 red 9 replica fitted with a 44. cal. Barrel, the gun was fed by a dark energy core. These shots packed the same punch that armor piarcers did. He pointed directly at Jasmine head, who simply stood there, her eyes closed in fear. Cider lowered his gun, a smile on his face
Cider:
I knew it! You need my protection! You little coward!
Jasmine opened her eyes; she got annoyed at his response
Jasmine:
Don't think for a moment that I want to stick with you! Its dark, and you are my only ticket out of here!
Cider:
Yeah, yeah, whatever. Well, if you're going to follow, then make yourself useful
Cider tossed her another flare
Cider:
You go on in front of me, and make sure you light the way
Jasmine:
I AM NOT YOUR FLAREGIRL!
Cider:
Says you! Besides, what else are you good for?
Jasmine:
Give me a weapon and I'll show you!
Cider began to circle Jasmine, like a vulture
Jasmine:
Cut that out! It's very annoying!
Cider:
HAHAHA! You're the one who's been annoying! Look, I already spared your life, and I sure as hell didn't ask you to come with me, so if you're going to tag along, then I suggest you stop with the wining, and start with the helping.
Jasmine:
BUT I DON'T WANT TO CARRY THE FLARE! I WANT TO DO SOMETHING ELSE!
Cider:
There you go again! You're very annoying, and you're getting on my nerves
He loaded his jackhammer with paint bullets; the same one's used to mark live targets without causing any harm. Of course, Jasmine did not know this, to her, he had just loaded his weapon with live ammunition, and that Cider had finally resorted to kill her, jasmine took a few steps back, horror running down every last inch of her being
Jasmine:
Wha- wha- WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
Cider:
Like I said, you're very annoying, and I don't like being annoyed
He pointed his jackhammer at Jasmine, he had no intentions of killing her, but he needed to shut her up, and what better way to shut someone up, than to shoot them in the face? Jasmine staggered backwards in utter fear, and she tripped on her own tail. Cider could not help but to laugh at her-. Jasmine still had the flare in her hand, the closer Cider got to her, the clearer her expression became, Jasmine kept dragging herself backwards, trying desperately to get back up, but she was in too much panic to do it right. Eventually, she bumped her had against the cave wall, Cider got close enough to see her face, and he noticed that her eyes where full of tears. Cider only laughed harder
Cider:
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Look at you, and you call yourself a hunter as well! HAHAHAHA!!
Ciders face took on a darker shade
Cider:
HUNTERS DON'T CRY!!!!
And with that, he fired his jackhammer in full auto mode. The bullets where colored red, but even if they weren't lethal, they still hurt like shit. Jasmine only screamed at the top of her lungs, fear eclipsing her common sense completely
Jasmine:
AAAAA!!!!! NO!!!! PLEASE!!!!! STOP!!!!!
After completely empting his ammo on Jasmine, Cider raised his Jackhammer and rested it upon his right shoulder as he snickered at what he had done, that paint did look like the real thing. Jasmine opened her eyes and was met by the sight of what looked like her blood, she began to panic as she inspected her body further, and she saw more of what she believed to be blood. She began to scream at the top of her lungs
Jasmine:
AAAAA!!!! MY BLOOD!!! IT'S MY BLOOD!!!! IT'S MY BLOOOOOODDDDDD!!!!!!! YOU'VE KILLED ME!!!! YOU'VE KI-
Cider:
HAHAHAHA! IF I killed you, then why are you still speaking?
Jasmine looked at Cider, his smile only made her mad, she got up and realized that the pain was gone. She wiped the paint of her skin and armor and realized that she was not hurt at all. Cider slipped into his jackhammer a rubber bullet, and then a real bullet; he had a pretty evil Idea in his mind. Once she realized that she wasn't hurt at all, turned to face Cider, her face filled with intense anger at his trick
Jasmine:
HOW DARE YOU MAKE ME LOOK LIKE A FOOL!!! YOU ARE GOING TO PA-
Cider shot her in the leg with the rubber bullet, and sure enough, jasmine fell on the ground grabbing unto her leg, screaming in agony
Cider:
You are a liar! You have never seen combat! You are no hunter! WHAT IS YOUR REAL PLAN! And you better start talking!
Cider shot the nearest wall with the real bullet, it made a huge flash of light from both the gun firing, but also from the bullet impacting the wall, the bullet was explosive based. Jasmine stared at Cider with even more fear now
Cider:
Or the next one will be real, just like that one.
And to show what he meant, he loaded his jackhammer with a full clip of bullets. Jasmine got up, and looked at Cider with hatred at first, then she broke down into sobbing
Jasmine:
Oh, what's the point! I can't lie anymore! I'm no hunter, and I'm no Landshark either! I am A NOBODY!!! NOBODY!!!!
Cider only shook his head
Cider:
Don't lie! You are a Landshark! You have their armor on!
Jasmine looked at Cider though her teary eyes
Jasmine:
I AM NO LANDSHARK!!!!!
Jasmine began to tear her armor off in front of his eyes; she took everything off, leaving only her only on her skivvies. Cider blushed for a few seconds once he caught attention at Jasmine's curves and real body, he began to feel quite uncomfortable.
Jasmine:
I am nobody....
Jasmine once again broke down into tears, this time though; she started to pound the ground
Jasmine:
Why? WHY? What the hell did I doc wrong?! All I wanted was to be the best! And all I got was pain and suffering!!!
She looked at Cider; he was still in a state of shock. Jasmine looked at his red 9, and made a grab for it, Cider noticed too late to do anything, she held the gun in both hands and pointed at his chest. Cider looked shocked, but his shock was only partial compared to his sense of empathy, which he had very little to begin with by the way, something told him this girl had gone through some hell, maybe just as bad as his
Jasmine:
Cider, the 'sand demon', all I ever wanted was to be just like you! No, I WANTED to be with you! So many years that I heard from you, many called you a white knight, a messiah, an avenger of justice. I always hoped one day you would save me from that HELL! But you never came. I waited and waited, but nothing. So I ran, to find you!!!
She held the gun up, and to Cider's surprise, pointed it under her jaw, she was going to shoot herself. But Cider only smiled
Cider:
So, you're just a crazed fan girl? And here I was thinking you where like, the chief's daughter or the clan heiress or something.
Jasmine:
I AM!
Cider's face suddenly lit up in surprise
Cider:
Say wha?
Jasmine:
I knew if you knew who I was, you would not spare a single thought about killing me, even If I wanted your help, I was damned from the start! But I will not give you the bad taste of killing me, Goodbye; you're still my white knight, my messiah, my savior, even if you are an asshole
And with that, Jasmine pulled the trigger, to Cider's red 9.
But there was nothing, no boom, no bloodsplater, no bonecrunching, nothing. Jasmine still had her eyes closed when Cider hit her behind the neck, essentially knocking her out. She feel forward into the cave floor, Cider had knocked the living daylights out of her. Cider took back his red 9, and pulled the weapon's core from one of his pocket. His face filled with shock at what he had learned just now.
Cider:
Who would have thought that the Landshark bloodline would fall right into my hands? But what if what she says is true? Could she really have lived through hell? I wonder... she might be of use to me after all...
He looked at her body, Cider began to blush at the thoughts that where going through his head. But he was decent enough
Cider:
.....................Either way, she has a good body...
Cider placed her in a comfortable position, he took a spare poncho from his back pocket, and placed it on her, he placed a flare on top of the poncho, he lit the last one he had, and simply kept going, he had to get out, fast, no flares meant no light, and no light meant getting lost
Cider:
Damn, and just when my luck was beginning to turn...
