Rising Grace by crimdelacrim

Man-Made Curse

Ian and Jun had neared the dimly lit edge of the city before he saw the source of the scream; a white lucario, easily discernable in the darkness of the night, her fur stained with blotches of crimson.

"Hey!" Ian called out as he ran to the lucario, who immediately jerked her head around to look a him "What happened to you?!"

She stared at him for a second before she stumbled up to him; her left leg brandished a large gash, and it was easy to tell through her blood-covered fur she was badly wounded.

"Please... Help me... They...-"

"Bitch, where did you go?!" A man in a strange unform stepped out from the tree, followed by a massive steelix, something dangling from it's jaws.
The lucario suddenly burst into tears as she saw the steelix. The man smirked as he spotted her, "Well, there you are!" he looked over at the trainer and his lopunny, "you two oughta step away, unless you plan on ending up like THIS girl."

On que, the steelix jerked it's head, tossing in front of them a bloody lump- the mangled remains of a young girl.

Jun stood there horrified as the lucario screamed out, her voice shrill and raspy, "SHEENAAA-!"

Neither Ian or Jun could believe it...

"So, you ready to run?" The man took a few steps forward, before Ian stepped between him and the white pokemon.

"You... Bastard..." Ian growled as he drew a pokeball, the infernape erupting in a custom bright flame. Ichi had heard enough from his ball to know this was serious.

"Kid, do you even know what you're-"

"Ichi, FIRE PUNCH!"

The infernape leapt forward at the steelix with his fists engulfed in flame, only to be met with an iron tail, wich knocked him halfway back to his trainer. Ichi growled as he caught himself and landed on his feet.

"Steelix, dig!" The iirn snake gave a short leap into the air before diving effortlessly into the ground. The earth beneath them trembled, then te concrete beneath Ian suddenly cracked. He jumped away in time as the steelix burst from the ground, its jaws open to grab what would've been it's victim. "Hmph... Grab the bitch!" The steelix turned to the lucario, who froze in fear.

"ICHI! STOP IT!"

The infernape dissappeared in a flash, returning to sight as he kicked the steelix' head, knocking it away from it's target.

Jun, who up until this point had been in shock from the horrendous scene from earlier, regained his senses, and rushed to aid his team mate.

"Jun, Ichi," Ian called out, "You two stop that thing!" He turned his attention to the man, who suddenly rushed him with a knife! Ian sidestepped the man and landed a quick kick to his stomach. The man grunted in pain, growling out "You meddling FUCK! After I'm done with you, I'll kill your pokemon!" before swinging his knife, catching Ian's chest, blood spilling from the new gash.

He snapped.

Ian let loose a deep, primal growl as a sudden strength rose up in him. He slammed his fist into the sttacker's face, sending him reeling back. Before the man could recover, he was met with a series of kicks and punches that knocked him to the ground, dropping his knife. He tried to get up, only to be slammed back down, choking as a foot pressed into his throat.
"You... Are a vile creature... And I shall show no pity to you."

-

Jun's ears twitched as he heard the sudden change in his trainer...

"Ichi, hold this guy, I'm gonna go help master Ian!"
Ichi nodded as he dodged another lunge froom the metal snake, grabbing the lucario, picking her up, and leaping away, before the steelix struck her.

Jun approached just as Ian pushed his foot down onto the man's throat, watching him struggle as the man began gasped for air, his face turning red.

"IAN, NO!" He tackled his trainer before he could finish the job. He gasped when he saw the rage in his trainer's eyes...
"I-... Ian?"

-

The man struggled to his feet, hacking as he tried to catch his breath. "This kid's fucking crazy... I have to draw back for now," he mumbled between breaths, "Steelix, return!" a bright light engulfed the metal snake just before it was brought down by a devastating fire blast from the infernape.

Ian struggled to get free, only barely being held back by Jun, who was begging him in his own language to calm down.

The man hobbled off, disappearing into the forest that marked the limits of the city.

~~~
It had taken Ian almost an hour to calm down before they hurried to the pokemon center. The lucario had apparantly passed out during the battle, partly from bloodloss.
Jun sighed as his watched his trainer rest. The cut on Ian's chest had already been bandaged up, but the lopunny was much more worried about his sudden outburst during that fight...
"Ian Gracing?" Ian opened his eyes stood as his name was called by Nurse Joy. "Your lucario has been healed, you may see her now."
Ian followed her back to the room where the white lucario was; she sat on one of the medical beds, looking down, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Ian turned to Nurse Joy, "Can I have a minute alone with her, please?" The nurse nodded and left the room.
"So, who was that girl?"
"My best friend," the lucario spoke without lifting her head, her voice breaking, "we had known each other since as long as I can remember... She stayed by me, even though I was shunned for my strange colorings... Then THEY started coming after me."
"You mean people like that guy from earlier?"
She nodded, "At first they just wanted me to come with them... There was something about those people I didn't trust them, so I declined... Then they started to use force, saying that my odd fur color might mean I might be able to obtain the powers of a god..."
Ian stammered, staring at her, "A... A god...?"
"Yes but.... As far as I can tell, I'm just the same as anyone else of my species. I was able to fight them off, until-" Her voice cracked, a mix of shame, anger, and pain twisting her face. She continued, now barely able to speak between sobs, "I couldn't stop him... He... He-!" She was cut off as Ian hugged her.
"I'm so sorry," he murmurmed, "I know I can't do much for you right now, but I can promise you this: I'll be here to protect you from now on."
She looked up at him as she felt it again... That same, gentle but strong aura she sensed when she first looked at him, and somehow she knew; she could trust him.
"Th-thank you... And my name is Aurora..."
~~~

Ian had already borrowed a room for the night, and Aurora very happily came to stay with him and Jun, preferring it to one of the recovery rooms.
It was well into the night before the lucario drifted off to sleep on her bed, Ian watching her silently as Jun slept behind him.

The power of a god... And whoever this group was, they were willing to kill for it...
Ian mulled over his thoughts as he stared at Aurora, the moonlight from the window illuminating her mostly white fur.

'She... She's so beautiful... Her body... Those strong legs, her nicely curved figure... And, sweet Mew, that soft fur...-' Ian shook his head suddenly, thoroughly confused with these feelings that had began forming for this pokemon he had just met...

More importantly, he was worried about the facts that these feelings were about a POKEMON.

He sighed, deciding that this was just due to a lack of sleep, and laid down, realizing his exhaustion.

Still, even as he was finally falling asleep, the thought still nagged at the back of his mind...
Chapter End Notes:It's a storm of writing! Personally I thought that this was a good chapter. A little over the top but good. What could happen next though? Will Ian get any from the lucario? Will she turn him down with a close combat to the face? Stay tuned
