Inheritance
A staircase...
A staircase of light, stretching up to the heavens.
Footsteps... Slow at first, then becoming more rapid.
He was running. Running to find whatever awaited him at the top of those stairs.
His heart beat faster as he practically flew up the path.
There.
It was a platform, the floor made of solid... Light?
He was out of breath as he finally stepped on to the platform, anxiety pressuring him to move forward.
He took only a few steps further before a voice struck him, just the words bringing a crushing weight to his body and soul. The power of the one who held the voice was more than immense...
'So... It's you... Come closer, child.'
This... Being, could crush the entire universe if it so wished it, and it wanted him to come closer?! Of course, declining could mean suicide.
Despite his mental warnings, he moved forward, the creature ahead coming into view.
Majestic...
It was mostly white, black on it's face and underbelly, from what he could see. A golden ring was suspended by some force over it's back.
He stopped only a yard or so away as it spoke again.
'It seems you ARE one of my own... Fine. It is about time that your kind needs to be reminded of my power.'
Before he could respond, an indescribable force entered his body. In an instant, he fell over due to the sudden pain that went through his entire body.
'Ian...'
~~~
"Ian!"
He was shaken awake, his eyes opening to a worried Aurora with Jun peeking over her shoulder. "A-are you alright? You started screaming in your sleep..."
Ian lifted a hand to his forehead, his hair was glued to his head by sweat. He sighed.
"I'm fine...I just need a shower..." He got off the bed, halfway stumbling to the bathroom. He shut the door behind him, a click signifying it was locked.
-
Jun sighed as he heard the door lock... Oh well.
"Hey, Aurora."
The lucario nearly jumped when she heard her name, broken from her thoughts, "O-oh... Hey, Jun."
Jun scooted closer to her, as if about to tell a secret. Now was as good a time to ask as any...
"So um... How exactly did you learn to speak human?"
Aurora stared at him for a moment before she realized what he meant. "It just kinda... Came to me. I've been living with humans for as long as I can remember..."
"Do you think it'd be possible for you to teach me? I would love to be able to talk to master Ian!"
Aurora shrugged, "I suppose... It wouldn't be too hard."
Jun giggled, hopping on the bed, "Finally! I can tell Ian how I-"
The noise of shattering glass and loud slams filled the room, joined with an "AAAGH!"
-
Ian writhed about in pain, his entire body aching. Some strange, invisible force was smashing everything around him, leaving the mirror broken as more dents appeared in the walls from impact. What is this? What the hell is happening?!
The door slammed open, Jun having kicked it, and the two pokemon rushed in, stopping as he screamed "STAY BACK!"
-
Aurora panicked as she watched Ian, even more frightened once she saw the destruction throughout the room.
"Wh-what do we do?! I've never seen anything like this before!"
"Maybe... Maybe I can calm him down...?" Jun stepped closer, only to freeze as he felt something fly past him, then hit the wall with enough force to shake the the room.
Aurora closed her eyes and focused her senses... She almost stepped beck in fear from what she saw; Ian's aura had become wild, and had apparently become intense enough to lash out physically.
"Jun, don't move... I think I know how to stop this," Aurora spoke calmly. She slowly stepped forward, weaving through the attacking energy, her paws glowing blue as she focused her aura into them. She kneeled down and laid her paws on his chest, her blue aura intertwining around Ian's invisible own, in an attempt to control or at least counteract Ian's overwhelming power.
Ian suddenly growled as a faint, purple glow covered him, his entire body tensing up before he passed out.
"Wh... What did you do to him...?" Jun whimpered out.
"I just forced him to calm down, in a sense... He was apparently knocked out by his own power," she paused, staring at the now peaceful trainer, "the strength of his aura... It's surprising it hadn't killed him... It's well past human limits."
~~~
It was past noon when Ian awoke, still only in a towel from earlier.
He mumbled. "What happened to me...?"
His voice caught the attention of the two pokemon talking on the bed across from him.
"Lopunny!" Jun jumped to his trainers bed and hugged him.
"Ian..." The trainer looked to Aurora. A worried look crossed her face and she opened her mouth, but it quickly changed to an awkward smile, "We should get going, huh...?"
Ian nearly jumped off the bed, throwing Jun off of him, "R-right! Lemme get my clothes!"
Aurora sighed to herself as she watched him fumble through his clothes... She shivered as a cold chill hit her.
'That power of his... Even when it seemed like he lost control, he was able to keep it from hurting us... Ian, you just might be...-'
"ACK!"
She snapped out of her thought and jumped off the bed, preparing for the worse...
She had to stifle a giggle as she saw Ian's towel fall to his ankle, the panicked boy covering his front. He snatched up his bag and rushed into the bathroom.
Jun let out a sigh. Not that he was mad about it, but, had the lucario not been there, he would've jumped Ian and prove his feelings to his trainer right then... But he had to wait...
Besides... Once Aurora taught him how to speak like a human, he could just tell him...
