Heaven's Chosen by kiro

Face off.

Early in the morning, while dawn was still breaking the group awoke, a heavy tension setting in as
everyone looked at Barton. He was sitting against the wall, staring down at the floor, he hadn't spoken
since he woke up, and eaten almost nothing. Everyone was thinking about the responsibility they put on
his shoulders, that he, a boy only about 13 now, was to fight to save the world. After everyone had
packed up, they all set out, Barton behind them, still looking down. When they got to the sea, they saw
a boat in the water, it was white and had a blue cross in the side of it, with no name. They all boarded
in silence and when they left, Barton was the only one to look back, almost like saying goodbye.

Following Xehan's at best, vague, directions, they traveled south. For a couple of hours, all they saw
was water and sky. After several hours of travel, they finally saw some land in the distance, when Calus
called it out, everyone again stared at Barton, each one has secretly hoped to never find this island.
When they landed, the first traveled the south area, trying to find the cave that Chavely was hidden in.
Calus found it, but no one was able to show much emotion, until the went inside and saw Chavely,
curled up on the ground, a small machine floating above her emitting a small light that surrounded her. It
kept her asleep and her powers hidden from Lucifer. Calus destroyed the machine with his sword and
ran to the Articuno's side, trying to wake her up. When the light faded, she slowly began to wake up,
blinking and staring at Calus before she realized who he was. As the two spoke, Barton waited outside,
looking toward the center of the island and thinking. He couldn't explain what he felt very well, but he
knew he wasn't afraid. When everyone was ready, much to Chavely's protest, she left the island.
Everyone watched and waved, and when she was out of sight, moved toward the inner part of the
island.

As the group traveled, they were unaware they were being watched by the ever vigilant eyes of their
target. While he watched them move from his monitor room, Lucifer smiled, he was full of anticipation.
He took the black cloak off, revealing his long black hair and red eyes. He looked like a normal person
but the black aura around him was a sure give away of his evil. He was wearing and black shirt and
dark blue jeans. He walked out to the front of his hideout and smirked. "Come heroes, I will defeat you
here for the sake of my goals."

It took another hour or so before the group saw the silhouette of a tall building in the distance. Kiro was
leading the group, so he spoke up first. "Does everyone see the building ahead of us?" Calus and
Barton nodded, "You think it's their hideout?" Kiro nodded, "Well I doubt they built more buildings
then they'd need, so I'd say yes." Calus nodded while Bria looked at Barton, fear in her eyes. She
spoke up slowly and softly, "Guys...are...are we really ready to face him?" Kiro nodded as he walked
ahead, "I have no doubt we can win, so neither should you." After another half an hour of walking, the
group came to a stop. In front of them, less than twenty yards away, was their opponent, Lucifer. He
stood, clapping and walking towards them casually. "Well well, the famed chosen and his bodyguards
finally make it to my doorstep. I'd say I'm honored, but I have to kill you all now." He smirked and
charged them, a sword of fire emerging from his hand and being drawn back. He charged Bria and
prepared to kill her, only to stop dead in his tracks, a blade of ice coming from Barton's elbow aimed
for his neck, only inches away. A bead of sweat rolled down his forehead as he backed away. "For a
child you have some quick reflexes." Barton straightened up and the ice dispersed, "Only when the
occasion calls for it." "Well I'm honored to make that happen, you move quickly, I thought you'd freeze
time for sure, but it looks like you trained your body as well as your powers. So let's drop our games
and get down to business."

Lucifer brought the sword of fire up and stabbed it backwards. Everyone watching couldn't stop from
gasping as the sword appeared to have stabbed straight through the fabric of space. As he pulled the
sword free a giant crack appeared in space and soon crumbled, revealing a large circular seal with six
parts. Five of the six parts were darkened and faded, leaving one to shine bright. "You see before you
the seal placed by Heaven and their accursed mages thousands of years ago. Each part was kept alive
by the mages themselves. They placed their life force in different people throughout the years, hiding it
from me. As you can see, I tracked down five of the six, took their lives, and thereby broke a part of
the seal. All that remains, is you, Barton, you possess the last bit of life energy I need to destroy this
seal, and invade Heaven with my army of demons. Now, Chosen, fight back or cower, I don't care as
long as you die." Lucifer held his sword out at Barton and smiled, "I don't want any interference, so to
keep your protectors at bay, they can play with some of my underlings." The ground shook as he
spoke, "Come forth my friends, destroy the insects that threaten our plans, make them suffer." The
ground burst open as thousands of demons in all shapes and sizes surged forward. There were echoes
of roars and wails as they demons charged the group. Calus and Kiro ran at the army, swords drawn.
"You take care of Lucifer, we'll get rid of the pests." Barton nodded and stared at Lucifer, "Ready, old
timer?" Lucifer shook his head as fire exploded around him, "Boy, I'm not like Xehan, my thousands of
years have taught me patience, and discipline." "Then I'll beat you the old fashioned way, by being
stronger." Barton pointed his hand out towards Lucifer and smiled, a sword of ice bursting forth, "One
on one?" "The way a proper duel should be."

The two charged each other, swords drawn back and ready to strike. As they clashed blades, a small
explosion occurred around them, flames and rock scattering outwards. The duo flew upwards as they
continued clashing, flames scattering with each hit. When it was clear that it was a stalemate between
the two, Lucifer was the first to speak. "I can see you did well in your training, but I have centuries
upon centuries of training, do you think you can beat me?" Barton nodded as his sword of ice
dissipated. "Of course, if I didn't I wouldn't be here." Lucifer shook his head as his sword faded away,
"Then show me your power." Lucifer smiled as flames again exploded from his body, an aura of fire
around him, he cracked his neck and stared Barton down. Barton closed his eyes slowly, his muscles
relaxing as his power rushed to the surface. He became enshrouded by flames much the same way he
had been when he showed his power to Kiro and Calus, and as then, the flames iced over and
exploded. Barton was wearing the same clothes he had been, but the armor around his chest was gone,
replaced by a white shirt with a green cross in the middle. He had a blue aura around him, and his eyes
had changed from their normal color to a dark green.

As Barton and Lucifer continued their fight, Calus and Kiro were destroying the army of demons that
had broken through to our world. "How many for you Calus," Kiro asked as he punched his current
target in the stomach and threw it to the ground. "Sixteen so far if you don't count the ones that keep
getting back up, you?" "Fourteen if you don't count those." "Maybe we should try using some of our
powers to speed things along?" "But if we exhaust ourselves, we can't help Barton." "Then we may be
screwed old friend." Kiro nodded as he sliced another demon in half, "Then why don't we try sealing
the hole their coming from? You should be able to do that pretty easily." Calus stabbed his sword
through a demon's chest and backhanded another, "I could, if you want to take them all on for a few
minutes." "I can do that, so get to work." Calus nodded and flew up in the air, directly above the hole
the demons were escaping from. "Haven't practiced this one in a few decades, so buy me as much time
as possible." Kiro flew in front of Calus and drew both his swords, "Just give me warning so I can get
out of the way when your ready." Calus closed his eyes and brought his hands together slowly. He
began chanting softly as the demons charged he and Kiro. As a small circular light began appearing in
front of Calus, Kiro began attacking the demons. He slashed at one demon, blocked another's sword
and stabbed a third. As he kept the demons at bay, the light grew bigger and brighter. As it grew, the
demons began backing off, almost afraid of the light. Kiro smiled as he pressed the attack, driving them
back into the hole. The light began sparkling, electricity shooting from it and toward Calus. "It's ready,
get out of the way." Kiro dashed to the side as the circle shot forth at an alarming speed. Any demon
fool enough to stand in its way was instantly vaporized. When the seal was firmly locked in place, Calus
descended slowly, panting and sweating. Kiro met him on the ground and put Calus's arm around his
shoulder to hold him up. "Sorry old friend, didn't think I'd be so tired from this." "It's fine, you did good
for a slacker." They laughed a bit before the earth shaking scream from Bria brought their attention to
the fight of Barton and Lucifer. The boy was motionless as blood poured from around the hand that
pierced his stomach.

Without warning Lucifer cast his body to the ground, a sick smile on his face. When Barton hit the
ground, all eyes turned to the seal, the final piece was still shining brightly. Lucifer brought his hand to
his chin as he descended, "Hmm, maybe we miscalculated. It's possible we were wrong in his line of
ancestors, but then again, "He" was the previous bearer....before Barton was conceived. Of course,
without realizing it, Barton passed the buck to his child, well that's an easy fix." He turned to Bria and
readied his sword, "Don't worry, you'll see him again soon." Bria covered her stomach as tears rolled
down her cheeks. She shook her head, her voice taken by sorrow. Lucifer walked toward her casually,
smiling, "Don't worry, you wont feel a thing, and you and Barton can meet in hell." He smirked as he
thrust his sword forward, trying to stab Bria in the stomach. He sword made it a couple of inches away
before he was knocked away by Kiro. Calus swooped in behind and grabbed Bria, taking her away
from Lucifer. Calus ran with Bria as she sobbed into his arm, "He's really gone isn't he?" "No, Nadi can
take care of him if we can buy her enough time." She looked up and hid her face, "Barton couldn't stop
him, how can we?" Calus smiled, "Because Kiro and I will throw everything at him to win."

Calus set her down next to Barton and Nadi who had already begun healing Barton. Calus charged
Lucifer as he and Kiro were exchanging blows. A blue glow came from NAD's hands as she tried to
close the wound in Barton. Bria touched his hand slowly, "Can you really save him?" NAD nodded,
"It's not a matter of if, more of when." Bria looked up at her, "What do you mean?" "I need time to heal
a large wound, about three to five minutes depending on how much blood was lost.." Bria looked at
Barton's face, and then at Calus and Kiro fighting Lucifer, "I don't know if we have enough time."

As NAD tried to save Barton, Lucifer was making child's play out of Calus and Kiro. He dodged every
attack like they were in slow motion. "This would be more entertaining if you fools weren't so pathetic."
Calus wiped the sweat from his face as he panted, "He may be right, we might be a little out of shape."
Kiro smirked and wiped the blood from his lip with his thumb. "Well, a thousand years of hiding does
that to you. Well we already know the outcome if we stay like this, may as well go all out. Right?"
Calus nodded and smirked, "I guess so, we need to buy more time anyway." Kiro nodded and threw
his swords to the ground. "Haven't had to use this much strength since I fought her." "You should fight
her now, she's much stronger." Kiro tore his shirt off and smiled, "No more chatter, it's time to fight."
Calus also tore his shirt, revealing the circular seal on his chest. He held his sword up and closed his
eyes. His sword began glowing and soon turned into solid light. He thrust the sword of light into the
middle of the seal and was quickly enveloped in a blinding light. The light faded as quickly as it
appeared and Calus stood there, his sword gone, his clothes changed. He was wearing dark blue pants
with a set of white wings on both legs. His shirt was also dark blue but had no markings on it. His eyes
were completly white with sparks of electricty coming off them every few seconds. Kiro smiled as
flames encased his body, hiding him from view. The shell of fire exploded outwards and consumed
everything it touched. It faded quickly, leaving Kiro wearing red pants with white flames traveling down
the legs. His shirt was white, black flames around his collar, his eyes were white flames, embers flying
off every so often.

Lucifer pointed his sword toward Kiro, "You die first." Before he could move, Calus was behind him,
his back to Lucifer. Lucifer's eyes went wide as he realized what happened. "Not possible, how can
you be so fast?" Calus backhanded Lucifer in the back of the head, sending him flying toward Kiro,
who sent him flying with an upwards kick. Lucifer steadied himself quickly and turned to look at Calus,
who was already in front of him, looking at him with emotionless eyes. "What happened, you two were
so weak and weary?" With no words Calus brought his fist into Lucifer's stomach, and echo from the
impact spreading out. Lucifer doubled over, coughing up blood, he tried to look up at Calus, but all he
saw was Kiro's knee connecting to his face, sending him flying back. Calus looked to NAD and Barton
before speaking to Kiro softly. "We still need a minute or so more." Kiro nodded, "Channel all the
power you have, we may be able to weaken him, if only for a moment." Calus held his left hand up
toward the sky, black clouds beginning to circle the battlefield. Multiple strikes of lightning began to
come down toward Calus, only to hit his hand and be absorbed. Slowly a small ball of electricity
formed, emitting sparks in every direction. Kiro followed and raised his right hand, flames from his
body running toward his hand. A small orb of fire formed and began rotating in his hand, embers
shooting off in every direction. Both orbs grew to almost a foot in diameter before they brought their
eyes to Lucifer.

He smirked at Kiro and straightened himself up, "Fire is my element, you will cause me minor pain at
best. But do go ahead and test me, see if I'm lying." His smile was short lived as the pair brought their
hands down and thrust them together, the two orbs combining into one of white fire with electricity
circling around it quickly. The flew toward Lucifer as fast as they could, side by side with their arms
outstretched. Lucifer tried to avoid the attack by flying towards the ground, but was caught in the back
as soon as he turned around. When the orb impacted, it exploded and encircled him, sending him flying
at breakneck speed toward the ground, the only noise was his scream of agony. Before he hit the
ground it stopped moving and exploded again, fading away, leaving Lucifers burnt body with electricity
still traveling through him. He fell to the ground, laying there almost motionless except for his breathing.

Calus and Kiro panted heavily, changing back to normal as they descended. They landed a short
distance from Lucifer's body, sweating and dropping to their knees from exhaustion. As they watched,
Lucifer stood slowly and dusted himself off, blood pouring from his mouth. He smiled and cracked his
neck, "I see, that was a marvelous trick, had I not defended with a shadow flame barrier, that might
have killed me." He walked to them slowly and charged the same black fire into his right hand. "I didn't
expect you two to work so well together, purifying Kiro's fire into holy white fire, charge it with
electricity and be able to hit me with it, no small task so I am very impressed with you two. But as the
mortal saying goes, all good things must come to an end." He stopped a few inches from them and drew
his hand back, "Be glad, you wont feel any pain." He brought his hand forward, intending to kill them
both with a single explosion.

The smile on his face was replaced by a shocked expression when his hand was caught and pulled
aside, Barton's face inches from his. Barton pulled Lucifer toward him and brought his knee into his
stomach, the ground beneath them cracking from the impact. Before Lucifer could move, a rock
covered fist found it's way into his face, knocking his head back. Barton pulled on his arm again and
head but him, released his hand and spun, hitting Lucifer with his elbow, which was quickly chained into
Barton putting his hands together and hitting Lucifer in the side of the head. Barton chained that into a
back hand that caused Lucifer to straighten up, only to be knocked back from Barton jumping and flip
kicking him in the jaw. Lucifer landed on his knees and stood up quickly about ten feet away. He glared
at Barton with black flames coming from his eyes. "Boy, you should have stayed dead, now not only
will I kill you all, I'll make sure to tear the child out of that useless Lucario and force you to watch me
kill it." He tore his shirt away and threw his chest plate to the ground, black demonic wings spreading
out from his back."This will be the death of you all."
