Hope Ch.11

Sky was running, running through the burning buildings, running to escape what she saw. Rika, Bane, Tia, Blaze, Mist, Burn, Link, all of them were dead. They had been slaughtered, something had hit them and hard, ripping out their throats, tearing off their limbs, and burning their bodies. The entire village was now ablaze and she was trying to escape it. Eventually she reached a dead end, she turned and saw a shadow. She back away, until her rear was pressed against the wall, and began shaking. Then the shadow approached, and she gasped when she saw it was Inferno, and he was covered in blood. "I...Inferno....why?"

He too was shaking, "I'm sorry Sky. I...I didn't remember until...until...it was too late." He collasped, "Sky I'm so sorry, I didn't want to...I..." Despite it all part of Sky was over joyed. Inferno remembered, he actually remembered. She rushed to his side, then recieved a swift bash to the gut, knocking her through the wall and into a burning building. Inferno chuckled, the glow from his iron tail disappating, "You're far to easy to fool." The building creaked then gave, collasping on Sky.

Sky awoke in a cold sweat, panting hard. She looked around, it was about midnight from the look of the moon, her friends still alive. "Nothing but a dream. A nightmare." She looked back to the village, it seemed to have quieted down some. "Hey guys get up. Looks like it's time." The others rose quickly all of them ready to get this little errand going. They decended the hill, walking as low and as quietly as possible. Though the most of the commotion of the village was done there were still patrols, mostly the strange humans. They were quickly going from shadow to shadow, dodging every patrol, and doing remarkably well in staying undetected. They made their way to the central, and largest, structure. When they got with sight, they saw that it was a good ten yard strech of no cover road, three roads leading into it, and gaurds were positioned at the door. Link inspected the area, "Let's try the back." The others nodded and proceeded around. At the buildings rear they two patrols going back and forth, makeing it to risky to make a run for it. Burn smiled, "I've got an idea, wait here." He ran off through the buildings, vanishing in a few moments. The others waited for about five minutes before they heard some cries. One of the humans turned and pointed, "Fire! The place on fire!" The gaurds ran off for the fire as Burn reappeared smiling.

"Tipped one of laterns. Man that house lite quick." The others smiled with him, Mist giving him a congradulatory kiss, then they ran across the road, and up to a window. Tia opened it up, and managed to squeeze in, the others following. They shut the window and explored the structure. It was vast, but relatively empty. At the center of the place was a table littered with papers. The group approached and began looking through them. Most of the papers were useless, telling of orders which were usually a Stay Put. Only one of the documents stood out, Sky inspected it. After a brief glance over she began to read it aloud.

"Special Perogitive
I know you detest my newest asset. But honestly I don't care. You will show him proper respect. I chose him because of his emence power, something you can't claim to possess. I am even now headed for the castle located on the mountain known as Terria, which is under his control. I will need you to send a small portion of soldiers, both human and pokemon, to there to bolster the ranks. Remember that I will not tolerate dissention, no matter you feelings toward him. Also be aware that his old comrades are within your local. The first attempt at slaying them, has been a failure, through no ineptitude of his own. You undoubtablly desire a reason to send men so I will tell you, the attacks on that castle have increased as of late. For the present time, we can not afford to lose Terria Castle. I will expect your men there by the time I arrive. If they are not, pray you die before I find you. Your soverign and lord has spoken."

Burn let out a whistle, "Sounds like someone has a lot of power. And it looks like someone isn't a fan of Inferno."

Bane nodded, "But who? It's not Death, he already knows of the failure."

Burn sighed, "Well best not to find out. I know where Terria is. I'll take us there, no problem."

Link nodded, "Very well, I shall assist. These things are far to dangerous to be left alone."

Sky smiled, "thanks. Well then shall we..."

"Go?" A dark and all too familiar voice said, "I don't think sssso." The gang turned, the door to the building was wide open, filled with the humans and pokemon, as well as a black, winged, and claw wielding arbok. Sarak smiled, "I can't let you all leave. Not when I can dessstroy you all here." he chuckled, "Sssince I can't kill Inferno, being that he'sssss on our sssside now, you'll make a fine ssssubstitute." Sarak pointed a claw at them, "Kill them." The minions charged.

Bane and Rika went straight for the center of the charging force. Burn and Mist aimed for the left flank, while Tia and Blaze took the right. Link lept for the spot between the center and left, takeing a firm grip on both bone clubs. Sky charged for the middle ground of the center and right, a razor wind preceeding her.

Rika and Bane both used an iron tail to give themselves some room. Rika sent a thunder bolt a couple of humans coming in from the right, knocking them back. Bane used a shadow ball to send a arbok reeling back and into a hitmonlee. A seviper slithered up to Rika, perpareing a poison tail, which was countered by her iron tail, followed by a mega punch. The snake went colliding with a chair, then a wall, splintering it. Bane was being pressed by two humans when a hariyama made a move at his back. The fighter tried to land a palm thrust but it missed, striking the humans and leaving it open to an iron tail, knocking it through a window. Rika and Bane were forced back by another wave of enemies though.

Burn had knocked away a portion of the attackers with his nine swinging iron tails, Mist following up with a hydro pump. A arbok charged forward, flanked by two humans, aiming for the vaporeon. Before they got close Burn had used flamethrower, frying all three of them. Mist used an iron tail on a beedrill, who thought he could strike her turned back, sending him into another beedrill, both crashing into the wall. Two of the humans tried to skewer Burn, but their blades were knocked out of their hands, then their arms broken by another iron tail barrage. Burn chuckled as another wave charged them.

Tia sent a large number of the enemy back with a hyper beam, she pushed the attack with an iron tail, impaling a human. Blaze had used a psychic blast, knocking back a seviper, sending him on a crash course with a number of his allies. Blaze used another psychic to send a number of chairs crashing into a group of humans. An arbok slithered toward Blaze, jaw ready to clamp on his throat, when a tail came crashing down, snaping his neck. A mankey lept up and tried to come down on her, but was sent flailing through the roof by a psychic blast. Blaze and Tia had taken care of the last of the attackers when another wave came at them.

Link was bashing enemies left and right, his movements close to a blur. One human would be falling back from a club to the head, then mere moments later another would be disarmed. An arbok moved in to make a strike and recieved a quick and painful double blow to the skull. Another human ran forward bringing his blade down, just to have it knock out of his hands, then recieveing a severe beating. As the blade came back down Link knocked it toward a serviper, impaling it as well as the blaziken behind it. Another human crumpled before a blow to the head, his blade knocked out of his hand and into another human. As that human fell another wave of attackers rushed in.

The razor wind had cut down a large number of the enemy, leaving only a few humans and snakes. One of the humans ran up, his sword coming in from the side, barely missing her. She responded with a ice beam, knocking him back, his blade and arm incased in ice. An arbok tried a sneak attack, but only got a hyper beam to the face, sending him crashing through chairs and window. A serviper met a hyper beam when he moved in for a bite, sending him through the ceiling. Another human ran up, but was cut in two before he got close enough to swing, the seviper behind him joined in his fate. Sky didn't have long to gloat, another wave was on her, a seviper using a poison tail, smashing the floor.

The group had cut down a large number of the enemy, but they still kept coming, and everyone in the group was losing steam. Behind the soldiers Sarak laughed, Sky snarled in responce. As the soldiers pushed forward, the group fell back, all panting hard. Blaze looked at the situation, then got an idea, "Tia! Blast us an exit." She nodded, blowing a hole in the rear wall, "Burn, let's torch this place." Burn smiled, then let loose a flame thrower, lighting the nearby walls and furnishings. Blaze sent fire blasts to the other side of the building, setting it ablaze. The fire quickly engulfed the structure as the gang retreated out of the hole, "Sky make sure they don't follow!" Sky nodded, sending a razor wind up to the ceiling causing it to collapse behind her. The structure was burning, a great big beacon to anyone in the village, that was proven by the mass of soldiers pouring in from two of the roads. Sarak erupted from the top of the blazing building, snarling at them. Blaze looked at Burn, "Me and ego here will cut off that route of attack, you guys deal with them until we finish." the two fire types went to work torching one of the roads, cutting off the attack from that side with a wall of flame.

Tia, Sky, and Bane used a hyper beam, Rika used a shock wave, Mist used a hydro pump, Link hit the ground, sending up a large number of rocks, and began knocking them at the other attackers. The enemy charge was stopped dead by the assault, many of them dieing. As the attacks stopped the enemy charged forward again, but were stopped by a wall of fire, Burn and Blaze were now working on this road. When they were happy that both roads were blocked they proceeded toward the last road.

As they ran, Sarak swooped in and knocked Bane into a nearby building. Before any of them could react Sarak's tail was makeing a 360' spin, knocking all of them about. Sarak chuckled, "This was all to easy. You spent so much time fighting, now your weak, and so easy to kill." he grinned that evil grin, "That's why I let the pawns charge you. Weaken the enemy with the expendable, then send the elites to slaughter what's left." He fixed his gaze on Sky, "Your precious little mate is on our side, meaning I can't kill him. At least I get that which was once important to him." He lept at Sky, his claws ready to tear into her, but was sent flailing back by a shadow ball. Sarak righted himself and looked behind Sky, at a figure shadowed by the fires. "Who the devil are you?"

The figure had five tails, and was an umbreon, with blue rings. The figure chuckled, "I thought you were killed when Biogen's base blew up."

Sarak snarled, "Now I remember, you were with them."

Sky, Rika, Bane, Tia, and Blaze were amazed to see him. Blaze let out a sigh of relief, "Blue wasn't it? Thanks again." (Blue copyright sorame)

Blue smiled, "No problem, but he was dead wasn't he?"

Sky got up, "We'll explain later, right now we..." A gust of wind stopped her midsentence.

Sarak had taken to the air, glaring at the group, "Don't think this is over. You will all die before my lord achieves his goal."

Sky glared at him, "And what goal is that?"

Sarak smiled, "Go ask him. Like you read, he's headed for Inferno. I wish you luck getting him back, I want to kill him." Sarak took off.

Blue shook his head, "Why do they always get away at the last minute?" he shrugged, "I think we should get going before we're fried along with this village." The others nodded and fled down the open road, aiming to get out as soon as possible. After a long run, and a few encounters with enemy soldiers, they exited the village. They made their way up a nearby hill, stopping to rest, and turning to watch the village burn. They were all panting heavily, Sky forcing words between breaths, "I think...we can...rest....Thanks...Blue."

He shook his head, "It was nothing, I couldn't very well stand by while all that went down. So what the heck's happened since we last met?"

After the group got their breath back they reconted the tale since Biogen's headquarters being eradicated. Sky personally telling of Inferno's demise, which was, to no ones surprise, difficult for her. When they finished Blue shook his head, "Sorry to hear about that. That has to suck." he lifted his head with a smile, "But I'd be more than happy to help you guys out."

Sky smiled weakly, "We'd be grateful."

Bane nodded, "It looks like we need all the help we can get. I mean for god sake, Death and Sarak. And even Inferno. I don't want to know what else this sicopath that they call a lord has up sleeve."

Blaze shook his head, "I don't think any of them care what we want."

Rika fell on her back, exhastion plain on her face, "First things first. I want to go to bed."

Tia nodded, "We destroyed their little village, found out Inferno is, cut down a huge number of their men. Not bad for a nights work. We deserve a little rest."

Burn yawned, "Even a god like me needs to rest after such a battle."

Blaze was tempted to say something, he was tempted to hit Burn, but he just gave a dismissive wave and fell down into a deep sleep, Tia following. Blue chuckled, then found a spot to lay down. The others quickly joined them in sleep, all except Sky. She was staring at the moon, "Can we get him back to our side? Was Sarak being serious, or messing with us? I don't know what to think anymore. I just wish it'd all end." She stiffled a sob as she layed down for another unrestful night.
