Hope Ch.6
Hope Ch.6
The sun was rising as morning arrived. The gang had made it to the end of the path, going farther if they hadn't added Mist to the group. Not that anyone minded her company, she's was quiet for the most part, but pleasent. She seemed eager to talk with everyone at least once, usually asking about their part in the adventure. Blaze found Mist an ifinite times more bareable then Burn, and even Sky seemed to like her. Of course Burn seemed the one who most enjoyed her company.
Burn happily awoke and got up, streching and breathing in the fresh morning air. Mist lay just a little way from him, starting to rouse herself. He waited for her to rise and stretch out, then gave her a big old smile, "Well good morning."
She smiled back at him, a bit timidly, "Morning to you too. So is this crown far?"
He shrugged, "Maybe, maybe not. Doesn't matter to me." a time of silence past, "So how'd you end up with such a lousy trainer?"
Her head dropped, "Not by choice. He captured me, evolved me to a vaporeon, then began his sick treatment. If fact he was considering letting his other pokemon have me. If you hadn't..."
He smiled, "Ha. I even have the best timing. Truly I am a god." Mist giggled. They just sat there, gazeing at the horizon, waiting for the others to wake.
It wasn't a long wait. One by one, everybody was getting up, Sky the last of them, one again trying to hide that she had the dream again. She stretched out, "So shall we get going and find this crown?" Burn nodded and lead the way, the others following close behind.
As they went Mist got along side Sky, "umm Sky?"
Sky gave her a cheerful smile, "Yes."
"umm I'm sorry about Inferno." Sky didn't respond, "I can't say I know what it's like, but I'm sure it isn't easy."
Sky nodded, "It is. But I still have my friends, so it isn't that bad." Mist smiled, Sky replied in kind. As they were tearing through the shrubbery an air of excitment was aroung them. Even Blaze was looking forward to finding this Crown of Ribetium, despite his unhidden contempt for Burn. Rika was riding atop Bane, "What do you suppose this thing looks like?"
Bane shrugged, "I don't know, a crown most likely. Then again, a name can be misleading." Rika gasped as he jumped over a log, "Maybe you shouldn't use me for a freaking horse, eh?" Rika responded with a zap. The others couldn't repress there laughter, earing angry grumbles from Bane. As they continued down they eventually reached a large clearing, which stood at the mouth of a cave. The cave was on the side of a large hill, it's entrance was a rectangle, far to perfect to be natural. Something else stood at the mouth of the cavern as well, a group of luxrays. "Your sure this is the spot." said a particularly large one.
One of the smaller fidgited, "yes sir. This is where the crown is supposed to be. I heard it myself, from the mouth of that tropius." The large one nodded in approval, "Sir, we should hurry. There are others coming to take the crown as well."
The big one, obviously the leader, shrugged, "Let them. They're no match for us. Hell you could take on your own." He looked up into the vast sky, smiling. "In fact, lets wait. Killing them would prove I ment to hold the power of a god." He chuckled.
Burn stepped forward, "So sorry, but that kind of power is beyond some one so small." The luxray turned to face the speaker, "And if you do not already hold such power, you can not defeat, for I am a god."
Blaze glared at him, "Your the god of annoyance, I'll give ya that."
Burn held up his middle tail, since he had no fingers. "Blaze my friend, you pushed me." Blaze was silent, staring, his jaw hanging in disbelief. The others were in the same state, surprised Burn had that kinda fire to him.
The large luxray chuckled, "Your nothing but a bunch of infighting twits. Your no threat to me."
Sky couldn't help chuckling, "You think this is infighting? Sorry, but this is just us jokeing around, since your not a threat." The others took up battle positions. The luxray did like wise.
The leader stepped forward, "You've got a mouth on you. I wonder if it'd be so flappy after I rip it out of your throat." Sky didn't even respond, she didn't find his threat the least bit threatening. "Kill them." The luxray charged forward. As the pack closed in Tia, Blaze, and Bane launched hyper beams. The attacks sent a large chunk of the chargers back, while those that remained, a total of five, were hit by the group. Two were sent hurtleing into a tree by Rika's iron tail, another got a flamethrower to his right and a water gun to his left. Sky sent one screaming into the dirt with a razor wind, cutting his side. The last one just stared at them, to scared to move. He got hit by shadow ball, and was sent tumbleing backward.
The other luxray had recovered from the hyper beams and were charging forward once again. The leader had joined them, and was a lot faster than them. With a quick attack he had closed the distance and began pressing the attack on Sky. Caught off gaurd, the others let the rest get close enough to really start attacking. Rika lept clear of a tackle, and coutered with a mega kick. As he was sent rolling through the dirt two other's charged her, aiming for her throat. For their efforts they recieved a barrage of shadow balls. The attack sent them both hurtleing back, crashing against two of their compatriots. Bane landed, snarling, causing the other attackers to back away.
Tia and Blaze were preoccupied with their own luxray. They launched barrages of thuder bolts, which blasted harmlessly of Tia, and Blaze dodged them with ease. One of the attackers was blasted back by a psychic flash, another went head over heels when a rock throw nailed him. The luxray moved in and tried bites and tackles, which fared as well as the thunder bolts. One by one they were knocked aside, one hit a rock with a crack from Tia's iron tail. Another was attacking his own fellows after Blaze's confusion. The number of attacks quickly dwindled, eventually becomeing zero.
Mist and Burn were fighting together, and Mist wasn't to anxious. The luxray laughed, then launched thunder bolts, aimed directly at her. As the attacks neared, a flashing of white objects interceded, deflecting the bolts away from Mist. As they still their glow faded, revealing Burn's tails. Burn smiled, "You can't compete with me. Give up now and save yourselves the humiliation." The luxray weren't taken, they charged forward. And just as quickly as they charged forward they were sent back with a blast of a water gun and flamethrower. One managed to dodge the attacks and went strait to tear out Burn's throat. Just as he closed in Mist's tail interceded slapping down on the luxray's face.
Sky was easily dodgeing the leaders attacks. Fast as he was, she was faster. He'd bite, blast, and charge, and she'd duck, weave, and swerve. The tango went on for quite a while, until Sky was growing annoyed. When he lunged in for another bite, she hit him dead in the face with an ice beam. While he staggered back she charged in and did a flip, sending her rear legs to his face, knocking him back and into a thorn bush. He leapt out of it, screaming and cursing, then he fixed his gaze on the scene. His men were battered and exhausted, his opponent's were more than ready to keep going, and Sky was waiting for his next move. The leader sighed, "Stand down." everyone was surprised, "I see no reason to keep up a hopeless cause. Go, get the damn Crown of Ribetium." He sighed again, "This is the last time I go off on a search for some damn super powered treasure. Let's go! I'm tired of this damn forest anyway." As the luxray left the leader turned, "By the way..." he seemed to cringe at what he was about to say, "Your not to bad in battle. Especially you absol." he went off.
The group was more than a bit baffled, Sky's jaw was just hanging on, "What?" she looked to her friends, "Did that fight just end without us haveing to kill someone?"
Rika nodded, "It's really sad if that surprises us. Still, that was pretty civil."
Blaze seemed mezmerized, "That's a refreshing change of pace."
Burn's attention was on the cave, "Next up the gaurdians of the crown. Let's get going." He trotted ahead, the other's quick to follow, still a bit bewildered. They quietly entered the cavern, stepping as softly as they could, reluctant to make a sound. As they decended the light vanished, Rika, thinking ahead, held up a stick to Burn's face prompting him to light it. When he did they saw a rather horrific scene. The gaurdians of the crown were all rock golems of some pokemon, sometimes people. And they numbered in the hundreds. At least thats what they thought, since the gaudians had all been broken. There were pieces of their bodies every where, they covered the ground. The group cautiously crossed the battle scene, or more like a slaughter, since not a single trace of the invader of the cave could be seen. They slowly decended toward the only other source of light, a ring of torches. They rushed down, throwing caution to the wind, and looked at the sight in amazment. There was a stair case leading up to an alter, upon which the Crown of Ribetium would sit. Only...it wasn't there. Burn's face was a mask of shock, the spot of the crown was vacant, "Some one got it first. But who? Who else knew where it was?" the group stared on in silence, unable to believe that the crown had already found an owner.
****************************
The dark night was every where. Complete and utter blackness existed outside of the cirlce of torches, each glowing a dark red. The torches surronded a large pentagram. Outside of the design stood a figure, his features, if it was a he, enshrouded in darkness. He lifted something up, a crystal, it glowed a deep purple, resonating with power. The figure lifted the item up and held it. "Oh Crown of Ribetium," his voice was deep and sounded warped, "Show your true power." The gem began to levitate, floating to the middle of the design. Multiple things outside of the light gasped as the crown moved. The figure smiled.
"Dreadful darkness, hear my call.
Bring this world to it's fall.
Let the creature that perished here.
Live Again and reappear."
A figure slowly took form, and rose up.
