Hope Ch.7

The gang was still staring at the vacant spot, Burn's jaw was hanging by a thread. "I don't believe it. Who could've..."

Mist came up along side him, "Don't worry about it. Your great enough as you are. You don't need a little crown to make yourself better. You're already strong, fast, kind, and handsome."

Burn shook his head, "Yeah! I am. I'm a god among mortals, I don't need no stupid crystal. Still, all that time wasted." he sighed, "oh well, nothing to be done, let's go." the others nodded and turned around heading for the surface again. Burn's spirits had been lifted, although he was still a bit disappointed. "So whadda we do now?"

Bane shrugged, "I don't know. Find somewhere to go I guess. Maybe go looking for whoever got here first."

Rika sighed, "What a drag. All that work, and a fight with some luxray, and for what? Nothing." She kicked a rock, "Who else would want that Crown of Ribetium?"

The dark figure stood before a vast collection of other dark figures, "And so the next step is done," He smiled, "Now we prepare for the final move."

A figure next to him was also smiling, "Yes my lord." He looked over the other figures, "Quite a collection."

Many of the shadowy figures stirred, but the lead dark entity held up a hand, "Be still. There is one thing I want taken care of. You," he pointed to one of the crowd, "Go with him, you know who to seek out. Find and kill. Spare no one." The figure nodded, with a trace of malice, and followed the other, who had already taken off.

************************************

The group left the cave, and had only gone a few yard before a figure appeared from the brush. "There you are you little bitch!" Mist recoiled at the sight of her trainer. He shot a deadly gaze at the group, "I see you've gotten some filthy little friends. Fine! I'll kill them than take you back. And your gonna pay for your actions bitch." Burn stepped in front of Mist, snarling at the human. He just snarled back, "You got lucky last time, now your gonna deal with my pokemon." He called out a machoke and kadabra, "alright you two, you'll get seconds on that bitch if you take down that ninetales." The machoke and kadabra laughed. Mist recoiled again, Burn moved forward threateningly.

The machoke rushed forward, the kadabra teleported. The kadabra used a psybeam, sending it at Burn, who was hit full force. The machoke charged in, and threw a karate chop, knocking Burn back further. Before the others could intevene a carnivine, rhydon, and dodrio popped up. Rika wasted no time in going for the bird, while Blaze turned his attention to the plant. Tia, Sky, and Bane were left with the rhydon. The dodrio was using his superior speed to keep Rika from attacking, while the carnivine was keeping Blaze occupied with dodgeing bulletseeds. The others were doing the same to the Rhydon, launching attack after attack, pushing him back.

Mist was doing her best to avoid the attacks of the machoke, while Burn was preoccupid with the kadabra. Psybeams and flamethrowers were flying as they tried to kill one another. The kadabra was starting to were down though, his strength quickly ebbing. The machoke wasn't suffering the same, his attacks kept going while Mist was weakening. Burn saw this and knew if he didn't do something, she'd be in trouble.

Blaze was finally on the offensive, the carnivine's assualt halted and gave him the chance to push. Blaze was using all of his fire attacks, blasting and blasting, and missing everytime. Eventually he got fed up with it, and with a flash, sent the carnivine flailing back, the full force of the psychic hitting him, and leaving him open to a fire blast. In an instant the carnivine was consumed by flames, a scream rising from his throat, he ran around wailing, then crashed to the earth, still as his body burned.

Rika was also tired of the defense, and let the dodrio come close. Then ducked, missing a drill peck by fraction of inches, and grabbed it's middle neck. With a smile she used a thunder bolt, lighting the area with a yellow glow. As the electricity faded, a charred and blackened corpse laid a few inches from where Rika stood.

Burn had landed an iron tail on the kadabra, followed by eight more. Burn kept up the assault, beating the kadabra into a bloody mess, it's body starting to break off under the assault. The kadabra eventually fell, what was left of it, and Burn turned his sights on the machoke, which had beaten Mist to the ground and launched a mega punch at her. Burn rushed forward with a quick attack.

The rhydon refused to go down, refused to die. Then as he took a step back from Tia's attack he recieved an iron tail to the back, curtisy of Bane. As he stumbled forward Tia launched her own Iron tail, leaving a good scar in his chest. That scar was what Sky aimed her razor wind at, cutting the rhydon in two. It fell into two bloody halves.

As the mega punch was about to collide with Mist, Burn appeared and took the hit. The impact sent him up a few feet, which the machoke used to launch another mega punch, knocking Burn back and into a tree with a loud crack. "Burn!" Mist yelled as the machoke laughed. Burn crumpled to the ground, unconsious. Mist glared at the fighter pokemon, then used a bubble beam, aiming straight for his eyes. The machoke clutched his face, screaming, stepping back. Mist moved in, used an iron tail to knock him off balance, toppleing him to the ground with a thud. She then leapt into the air and twisted, sending another iron tail straight into the machokes face, crushing his skull.

The trainer glared as Mist finished off his machoke, "Damn it! I'll get you ya little bitch." He was about to run away when a fire blast, ice beam, shadow ball, thunder bolt, and hyper beam hit him all at once. An explosion occured creating a dust cloud. As the dust settled a mass of body parts was all that remained.

"Burn!" Mist ran up to him, not giving her old trainer a second glance, "Burn!? Burn are you okay!?"

His head slowly rose, then shook, "Ouch." his head swayed a bit, "trees are very hard." he looked up and Mist and smiled, "You okay?"

She rubbed her head against his, "Yeah, but damn it you didn't have to do that."

Burn shook his head, "I told you I won't abandoned a pretty face." Mist was smiling at him, tears in her eyes, "It'll take more than that to keep me down anyhow."

The other walked up, all of them, except Sky, were smiling. Rika voiced why, "Don't you two look so sweet together." Mist looked up, a little blush showing.

Bane was chuckling, "Come on Rika, don't point out how in love they are." Burn sneered, Mist tried to hide her face. They stopped hassleing them, and all of them settled down to rest. Burn, while injured, wasn't badly, so he'd be good come morning. Mist smiled, "Thanks for getting rid of that monster."

Blaze shook his head, "It's nothing, we couldn't just let that freak go on with what he was doing." The others seconded his comment.

The sun had set, and most of the group were asleep. The only one awake was Mist, who was struggling to get her emotions in order, paceing away from the others. What Bane and Rika had said deeply affected her, she wasn't sure of her own feelings. She was grateful to Burn, he had freed her from her trainer, and he even took that punch for her. She was grateful, but did she feel something more? She shook her head, what did it matter how she felt, he was too good for her. How could any one like him care for her, a pathetic former sex toy? She wasn't much, nothing for him. She was weak, ugly, despite what ever he said, and just useless. But since she thought that didn't it mean she cared? Mist sighed, why couldn't things be easy?

************************************

The two dark figures went on through the night, the one ahead casting a malicious glace back every now and then. The one behind him didn't miss them, "Do you have a problem?"

The lead shook his head, "No. No. I'm just a little angry about being a little sniffer. Besides I could kill the target on my own."

The other chuckled, "From what I've heard, you've tried before, and failed. In fact you failed three times in a row." The lead repressed his urge to turn and strike, doing that was pure suicide....for now.

************************************

Mist was still pacing back and forth, unable to get her thoughts together. How could Burn ever really care about such a fool like her? She accepted that she felt something for him, now she just wanted to get rid of the feeling. He was too everything, and she was just so pathetic, a weak little sex toy, that needed saveing twice already. No matter how she wished he'd only be able to see her as a friend, if he could even see her as that. She sighed, he couldn't at best she was a close by source of sexual relief, nothing more. And that wasn't too surpising. She sighed, a tear falling. She turned back to look at him, he laid on his side, his body bathed in moonlight. She could see the stonge cleave of his muscles, his breath raising his chest, then letting it sink. She sighed again, he was so handsome, and look at her. But than again...she walked up along side him. She looked down and smiled. After a brief while she got down and cuddled up to him, kissing him as she did so, "No matter what, I'll stay by your side. As long as you'll allow that, I'll be happy." She kissed him again, then settled up to sleep, her body pressed against his, her head buried in his neck.
