Alone In The Woods by yhtomit

Day 1

Day 1: The Finding Of A New Companion

Tim was a young man fresh out of collage, with basic knowledge of the way things of his world worked. He was a major in biology and had left society to live with and to study animal life in a natural setting. His mind was always filled with ideas about the strange creatures called Pokemon. He was convinced that they existed, even if it was only subconscious. He knew every little nuance about them, from anatomy to physical stats. He lived alone in a little cabin with no technology at all around him. He believed that there's more to life then entertainment. His cabin was small, only with enough room for one person. His adorning about it was odd to say the least. It had pillows adorning every nook and cranny for that was what brought him comfort. He had a makeshift refrigerator that allowed him to keep his kills that he obtained within the woods. Hey, he had to eat. His bathroom was not really a room at all, but more of a bathtub and toilet in the corner of the cabin. His bed was merely a small, old, mattress that he had bought after leaving collage. It had no frame, no headboard, all it was, was a mattress, sheets, pillows, and a throw over, all in all, his cabin was nothing much to look at. Late one afternoon while he was sitting alone in his den; like he normally did, his thoughts were interrupted with ...

*Whimper*

He had heard a quiet whimper from a wounded animal outside. Ever since he moved into the forest, he had become quite attune to hearing soft sounds, simply because he himself didn't talk much. He peeked outside his window and sure enough he saw a collapsed Vulpix, a fox-like Pokemon, outside. He ran over and saw that it had deep gashes along its sides, several across its face and when he picked it up to bring it inside; he found it was female as well as a midsized gash slashed diagonally on the bottom of her white fur stomach. He also saw that her front right leg was twisted to the left at the knee, obviously broken. She was small for a Vulpix; only about 1' 5" and seemed to weigh only around 11 lbs. She had four of her six tails and her coat was a crimson red, but it was surprisingly thick for her supposed age. Her fur was heavily matted with blood and he immediately proceeded to clean her face and bandage up her side wounds. She remained unconscious while this was happening.

"Cool, another one. But, what the hell happened to her?" he thought aloud.

As he cleaned and bandaged her, he noticed that an overwhelming sadness came onto her facial expression. When he finished, he brought her to a couch pillow on the floor of his den, but he still noticed the same expression on her face as well as a shiver that must have developed while he was cleaning her and he didn't feel comfortable letting her leave until she was fully healed and he knew that there was nothing more he could do for her, for fear of things that might happen to a lone female in the middle of the woods.

A little later, she stirred on the pillow and he looked to see that she was awakening. He had been reading on the floor next to her. Placing his book on the floor, he began to watch her. Vulpix's big, brown eyes opened slowly and her field of vision slowly grew clear. Then she saw him staring into her eyes and wearing a hopeful smile. Suddenly seeing someone caused her to recoil in terror, but her broken leg didn't allow her to move very far. She cringed at the pain and looked at her leg. As she did he picked her up gently with both hands. Right when she was about to struggle, he started to stroke her soft, matted, red fur slowly and gently. She sighed at this and looked up at him with a questioning look, but without struggling. He carried her into the bed room and put something that looked like a hearing aid into his ear. He looked her in the eyes again and asked,

"You feel better?" His voice was calm and full of concern. However questions were running through Vulpix's mind at this point and she felt threatened, so she started to struggle in his grip. He managed to keep her from falling and placed her quickly on his bed. She hobbled away from him, glared for a few seconds, growled, and started to question him rapidly.

"Who are you? What do you want? Where am I? What happened? What do you want with me? Why am I here? Tell Me!" Vulpix was terrified, though she tried not to show it. She wasn't sure of what to make of the situation. She couldn't recall much of what had happened to her, but she knew that she had never see this human before. Actually she had never seen any human before. But, he didn't move on her, like she expected, instead he slowly sat on the side of the bed opposite to her. He smiled and spoke calmly to her,

"My name is Tim. I'm a biologist here to study the life here in this forest. You're in my cabin. I'm not sure what happened to you, but you were passed out in the area in front of my cabin and you were nearly dead. So I took you inside, cleaned and bandaged your wounds. I don't want anything from you, and you're here because this is the safest place to be for you in your current state. So calm down and tell me, do you feel better?" He replied to her questions without hesitation, which was something she didn't expect. She didn't even think he could understand her, so she replied meekly.

"Yes, I feel better." He smiled, moved to her slowly and picked her up again, gently stroking at her fur.

"That's good. Your body was really weak. I wasn't even sure if you were going to survive since you lost so much blood. That leg of yours was broken at the knee so I splinted it to prevent it from moving while it heals."

She was amazed at his behavior. He was actually treating her like she was a real thing with needs and feelings instead of an object that was only there for their enjoyment?

"That's a first." She said to herself, smirking a little. He noticed this and asked,

"Is something wrong?" As he said this he tilted his head to the side.

"N-No. I've just never been treated like this before."

"Oh. That must have been rough."

She nodded but said nothing. Mostly out of fear and distrust.

"Well let's get that matting out of your fur."

He took her into the bathroom, filled the tub with warm water, and attempted to get her into it, but she refused, releasing herself from his grip. Not only because she was a fire-type, but because he would be with her and she had no reason to trust him yet. He figured that this was the case and leaned against the wall. She moved away and hid, not from the water, not from him, but from his actions. He smiled and said calmly to her with his hands leisurely crossed in front of his chest,

"You know that this water won't hurt you because it's not pressurized, right? The only type of water that will harm you is attacks."

She glared at him and answered with a shudder, "I'm well aware of that, but I don't trust you. I've seen things and I trust no one."

Tim looked a little down but said "That's probably a good thing. Don't worry it's all right, I understand. What reason do you have to trust me? Then let me clean you on the rug so you have a barrier between me and you. Would that make you feel better?"

"Why is this so important to you?" she asked trying to validate the idea that he would want to do this for her in the first place. She felt an ulterior motive.

He laughed "Look, do I really need a reason to help you? I'm not going to do anything but wash you so those wounds don't get infected. Nothing else will happen. I swear to you on my life. If I try anything funny then you can do with me as you will then and there."

She thought a minute and agreed to his terms. As he carefully started to wash her, being mindful of, yet still cleaning her wounds, she felt the water caressing her beaten and battered body. She could feel the stress and pain of what had happened to her fade away with the soap and water. He wasn't sure of what she was thinking, but the smile she was wearing encouraged him, so he slowly scrubbed her fur with soap and a small amount of pressure removing the matting in her fur and forcing her to moan softly. She believed what he had said, so she allowed him to wash all of her body, even though she stood poised to kill him if he made a move she didn't like. It seemed like being around him made her feel safe, wanted, and comforted for the first time since she was brought into the world. After washing her body completely, he carefully climbed into the tub and laid her on his lap where he proceeded to rinse it out of her fur. She allowed him to do so, but her front claws were at the ready. After he had cleaned and rinsed her he placed her in the shallow water next to him where she sat, watching as he washed himself, still wary of what might happen to her though.

When they had finished bathing, he took her out after he dried himself off. She noticed that he was not doing anything other then he said which was confusing to her. She had always thought of males to be manipulative, and only wanting one thing from females and willing to do anything to get it. But, when he picked her up out of the bathtub to dry her body; her fears, pain, confusion and distrust of him just seemed to melt away in to the sensuous feel of the towel. He worked it over her slowly drying every inch of her fur. While he did this, she felt an odd sense of security around him and she let herself melt into this power he seemed to have over her, unconsciously dropping her guard. After he had finished drying her off, he resumed stroking her now clean, soft fur while he took her back into the bedroom and laid her back down on the bed where she hobbled over to an overstuffed pillow and he lay down next to her.

"Now, get some sleep and tomorrow you can tell me your story about why you were unconscious out in front of my cabin." Tim said with an obvious look of sleepiness on his face. She had to agree. He removed what she figured was a translator from his ear and placed it on the end table next to the bed. He then closed his eyes and snuggled next to her, face to face, embracing her softly, like a stuffed toy. She nearly attacked, but remembering he had promised that he would do nothing and after the way he had just washed her, with a sincere desire to make her feel wanted she felt a little better and lowered her guard. She drifted off shortly after; his face warm against her fur.

"I hope that I'm not making a mistake, trusting him so easily." She thought, slightly fearful of what might happen while she was asleep.
