(Chapter 1) - A Walk to Shine
Jake and Zack walked their way to the city-way, where their school stood. As they were making their way, Jake was eating a loaf of bread while Zack was enjoying a box of cheese crackers, "Jake, why can't you be like normal people and eat normal snacks like us?" The eevee questioned and consumed another cracker.
"That's because I don't plan on getting fat in the first place... then again even if I stuff myself with all sorts of junk food I still won't be able to get fat due to my fast rate in metabolism," Jake answered, taking a big bite out of his bread after finishing his sentence.
"You freak me out sometimes Jake, you know? Sometimes I just wish you would act like a normal being for at least once," Zack confessed to Jake, feeling slight regret on the comment.
Jake took the half-eaten bread and consumed it all with one bite, "I don't know how your hopes are set on that but I don't think I ever plan on being normal even for one second, just might as well take it as a dream," Jake replied, licking in the crumbs that lingered on his paw, "Hmm... needs more concentration of wheat," he said to himself out loud. Just after, from behind the two, a flock of staravias from above shot through the air at high speed, sending a strong blow of wind at the two as the flock passed by. Zack looked ahead and watched the flock fly further and deeper until they made their way into the premises of city-way, Zack assumed they were heading their way to the same high school the two were going.
He turned to the mudkip, "It's not fair, we have to walk our way to school while those guys get to fly there without much of a problem. I wonder, do any of my evolutions support flight? Maybe I should save up some money to buy one of those special stones-"
"We have a problem..." Jake said with his eyes wide open.
"Don't worry, in about a week I will have just about enough money."
"No not that, look over there." Jake pointed out for Zack.
Ahead was a pile of injured unconscious pokemon, right nearby stood a strong swampert. He had an aggressive look in his face, breathing hard.
"What the heck happen here?" Jake whispered, assuming the swampert had to do something with the occurrence.
Zack grew fearful, having the same assumption and backed up a bit, "Um, I think it would be wise to skip school for today, right? That swampert is blocking our normal route to city-way, there's no way we are passing through that guy!" Zack spoke in a shaky tone, trembling.
The swampert finally noticed the two nearby and gave them an intimidating glare, "What are you looking at, do you want to end up like these guys too?!" he screamed out with rage. He then positioned himself in a fighting stance and appeared ready to unleash a good fight.
Zack was ready spring out of the scene, but he also wanted to show no no fear, "You'll pay for this... we'll show you what we're made of, right Jake?" he shouted out to the swampert, surprisingly Zack had gained the bravery to at least scream out at him. He looked to his side where Jake was, only to realize; that Jake was no longer by his side. He quickly spun around and saw Jake fleeing, "You coward... why are you leaving me behind?!" Zack cried out in tears and started to flee away from the area.
The swampert watched the two run for their lives and gave a devilish grin, "Nobody messes with me..."
Jake focused only on running away and failed to pay attention to his surroundings. He quickly decided to run his way into the park where he could get into the city-way, "I would have taken that swampert on myself, but there's no time to start a brawl. I'm going to be late for school if I don't hurry up," he thought to himself, growing significantly tired from all the running.
He stopped moving once he found a nearby bench to rest on and gain some of his energy back, "I think I should rest here for a few minutes at least, I think I overdid the running. I have never ran so much an so fast ever in my whole-" just about when he was going to take a seat and finish his sentence, a figure popped out from behind and grabbed Jake's back, causing Jake to tip out of the bench and fall to the floor.
Jake turned his head around and saw that it was Zack, "Jake you coward, why did you leave me behind like that?! You have no idea how scared I was back there!" The eevee cried out with tears falling from his eyes.
The eevee cuddled himself onto Jake's back in order to try and comfort himself from the after-fear. "Jeez Zack, you don't have to be such a..." he instantly paused, noticing that he and Zack were placed together in a lustful position. Jake immediately blushed and reclined the moment; he laid there as comfortable as possible.
After a few minutes, Zack had completely lost the fear that had taken hold of him and stood up, "I feel a bit better now, we should get going to school now Jake... Jake?" he asked him, moved over to the other side to take a look at his face. He was still blushing and looked as if he were in a trance, "Jake, we're going to miss school if you don't-"
"What-how-when-where-why... who... okay what just happened?"
"I don't know but before you snapped out to reality, you seemed rather happy."
"Happy? Ugh, I must of phased out again... but never mind that let's get to school before it's too late."
"Right, if I do remember we can get to the school by turning right over here, am I correct?"
"Um, that's where the graveyard i-"
"Oh my god, a graveyard!"
Zack was very terrified by ghosts and graveyards, even if the words themself are the only thing that pops out. He jumped and grabbed onto Jake's body, holding him firmly, "Please let's just get out of here and get to school, I've been scarred enough for the day!" Zack screamed out, eyes shut with tears as they made their way out.
"You know Zack, sometimes I find you just as weird as myself..." Jake said, quietly letting out a chuckle.
Finally arriving at Elden High School, the two made their way into the school. Nearby the entrance lied a crowd of high school students making their way to their classes. Some of the students were socializing during their walk,
"What's up, ready to go through another school year?"
"Like I'm glad this is my last year of high school, this place is crap."
"Did you hear about the swampert on home-way? I heard he's actually a fugitive looking for a girlfriend to do."
"Hehe, I don't need to look for the ladies myself. With my good charms and looks, all the girls come to me!"
"Hey, I'm a guy and I love you..."
Jake attempted to remove his backpack, only too realize that he had left his backpack behind at his room, "You can't be serious... I forgot to bring my backpack along," he spoke out loud and swung his left paw at his own face.
Zack giggled, not surprised about the situation, "I told you that your obsession of porn throws you off," he said with a smile.
Zack then removed a blue-colored paper from his backpack, "Well I know I brought my schedule, but I'm worried about you Jake. What are you suppose to do now that you don't have your schedule with you?" he asked Jake with a small frown in his face.
Jake gave a shrug, "Not sure myself actually, I guess I might as well see my counselor and ask if I can get another copy from there," Jake replied, he always had confidence in his solutions in most situations.
"Well I hope everything works out for you, I'll see you at lunch then." Zack said and made his way into the moving crowd and joined their journey to get into their first period class. Jake watched Zack enter the school until he lost site of him. Before long everyone had made their way into the school and the entrance of the school stood very silent.
He looked up at the cloudless sky and closed his eyes, "Hmm, maybe I should consider Zack... even if I do tell him about my true feelings, I'm not sure how he would react if I told him so. He may call himself bisexual, but he's still young and sixteen," he thought deeply to himself, thinking seriously about the choices he had.
"Excuse me... I'm new around here, but I was wondering if you go to this school?"
Jake heard a cute feminine voice very close by, "Why yes I do go to this school," Jake calmly responded, still had his head faced upward and eyes closed.
"That's great! Well it's sure is nice meeting you, I wouldn't mind chatting with you for awhile but I'm already late to my first class, you seem like an interesting guy, heehee... I guess I'll see you later then, bye!" She said in a joyful matter.
Jake was able to hear her footsteps, growing quieter after each one. As soon as he heard the the entrance door open, he open his eyes and sent all of his focus back to reality. When he heard the entrance door close, he turned his head into the direction of the entrance, "Huh... I wonder who that was. She did say she was new around here so I'm guessing she's a freshman that I don't know," Jake said to himself and finally started to make his way into the school halls.
After going through the trouble of getting a new copy of his schedule from his counselor and getting through the first four periods of class, Jake made his way to the cafeteria to meet up with his friends; lunch had just started.
He made it in the cafeteria without a problem, the large room itself was filled with many pokemon. He took a quick search around the area in order to find the table that his friend's were sitting. "Hey Jake, we're over here!" Zack shouted from nearby.
Jake instantly turned and saw both his friends, Zack and a linoone named Cameron.
Cameron is the aggressive-type who loved challenges. Even being the same age as Zack, he is a pokemon that is fairly respected by everyone, even the older students and the higher staff of the school. He may not show much signs of it, but he deeply cares for his friends and their well-being.
Jake took a seat at the table, watching the two eat their food. Zack was enjoying his food and went on eating like a pig, while Cameron ate his own food at a normal pace, "Damn, are you sure you aren't hungry Jake? I can't stand going through the day without lunch myself." Cameron asked the mudkip.
"Oh, I'm fine as I already enjoyed a full loaf of wheat bread this morning so I'm good," he answered.
"If you say so..." Cameron spoke and continued to consume his meal. He was about to take a last bite, but was interrupted by Zack and his messy eating, "Zack, what the crap?! Why don't you calm down and eat like a normal person?" Cameron asked Zack in an angered tone.
"Don't blame me that today's lunch is sausages, you guys know how much I enjoy the taste of sausages!" Zack answered with his mouth full, enjoying his meal.
"You know, maybe I should tell you the truth after all," Jake said to Zack, chuckling from the thought he had.
"Huh? What do you mean truth?" the messy eevee asked and paused his eating for a second. "Oh it's nothing, don't worry about it just go back and enjoy your 'sausages'," Jake answered bursting out in laughter.
"Why do I always have to be around the weirdest people?" Cameron thought to himself. He lost the appetite to eat the last piece of his meal thanks to Zack.
"Oh... mmm... these sausages are so soft, tender, and delicious... they even put special sauce inside for flavor... mmm... ah...." Zack said out loud with his mouth full of sausage. He chewed with his mouth open which made some of the special sauce splat on Cameron's face.
"Hahaha, this day couldn't have gotten any better!" Jake spoke out, still bursting with much laughter.
"Damn it Zack! will you just shut up and eat your food already, you're driving me crazy!" Cameron screamed out as loud as he could and caught the attention of some of the other students inside the cafeteria.
Zack swallowed up the food in his mouth and gave Cameron an angry look, "Well you know what, you're just as mean as Jake and you need to shut up yourself you hairy butt-face!" Zack exclaimed at the linoone in rage.
"Well at least I'm not some dumb retard like you who moans through sausages!"
"You know what you need Cameron? A big fat penis in your mouth!"
"Forget this crap, I'm dealing with this problem of ours right now!"
Cameron grabbed the metal tray that was holding his meal and threw it at Zack's direction. Direct hit! Zack was hit by the tray in the face, falling off to the floor.
"Guys calm down, we don't need to start fighting in the first day of school. We are suppose to be happy to see each other all again, right?" Jake spoke to the two, slightly uneasy about the situation.
"You're going to pay for that!" Zack cried out, he could no longer hold it in an decided to fight back. He stood up and rushed toward Cameron with a forceful tackle, pushing Cameron onto another table and pushing off the trays that were on it.
"Crap, you're going to die for that!" Cameron said as he recovered and was prepared to tackle down Zack.
"Hey guys, come over here it's amazing! We have a shiny pokemon that goes to this school!" A pokemon from outside the cafeteria had burst in and shouting to all the students.
They immediately got out of their tables and bum-rushed their way outside of the cafeteria, most were eager to see for themselves as most have no clue what a shiny pokemon looks like. The three waited themselves until the entrance was free to walk through. Jake was able to hear the comments of students about the situation.
"Like oh my god, I've always wanted to see what a shiny pokemon looks like!"
"I bet she's hot, I would go out with her if she is."
"It's not everyday you see a shiny pokemon that goes to the same school as you, this I got to see!"
"My my, I heard this shiny pokemon is a female. With my naturally beautiful charms and looks I will be able to win her heart without a doubt..."
"Forget her, go out with me! I have strong muscle power!"
The entrance was finally free and Jake motioned to the two then the three started making their way outside. "Hmm, interesting... a female shiny pokemon?" Jake asked himself, very curious himself and also had the urge to take a look for himself.
"I've heard about shiny pokemon, but I had never seen one ever in my life, we've got to check this out guy!" Zack said, nodded in agreement and bounced in excitement.
"I agree, this has got to be interesting... tell you what Zack we call it a truce and pretend that crap never happened, truce?" Cameron suggested, deeply feeling regret for what he did.
"Truce... but for that you now owe me another sausage," Zack replied in agreement and giggled. "Just shut up with the sausages for now, alright?" Cameron asked Zack as a favor, crossing his arms.
There was a huge crowd in the center of the school, leaving but little space for the three to pierce through. Jake paid attention to some of the conversations going on around him as he was moving his way further to the center.
"Just look at her, she's pink!"
"She looks pretty hot, you think it would be a good idea if I ask her out?"
"Like oh my god, she looks so awesome!"
"She looks so young, but I heard that she's already in senior grade. She must be really smart for something..."
"She's just a mudkip, expect her blue skin is now pink! What a big difference perhaps..."
"A female shiny pink mudkip that's a senior at this school... it's like a dream combination," Jake thought to himself, now rushing his way through the crowd. He only grew more interest as he listened to the voices of the students nearby.
"Hold on Jake, you're going way too ahead of us!" Zack shouted out, hoping Jake would slow down. "Leave him Zack, if he really wants to check this out then let him be on his own," Cameron said to Zack, understanding the urge that Jake had, "They would make one damn awesome of a couple if you ask me," Cameron thought to himself as he and Zack kept pushing their way further to the center of the crowd.
Jake only had a few more steps and people to push over in order to see her, his urge kept on growing ever larger, "Almost there... sorry, coming though..." Jake said, he pushed aside the last student. The rumors were true, he saw a female shiny pink mudkip. She indeed looked young, but one could tell she was around the age of seventeen. He moved close to her and really wanted to talk to her.
She turned around and notices Jake nearby, "Oh hey, it's you again! It must have been trouble for you getting through the crowd. I'm really sorry but I never knew I would cause this much attention," She spoke in a gentle tone, Jake familiarized her voice with the voice he heard in the morning.
"So it was you that passed by me at that time, how ironic..." Jake thought to himself, he could not get his eyes and attention off of her.
She gave a smile to Jake, "My name is Pretta, what's your name?"
