The Secret of Lucario's Gauntlets by kiaace

Story Notes:

This is a first time for me. Feedback is appreciated. I mean leeching is slack and all but it just doesn't make me feel right. Watersports is a warning?

Strength of Alyss

"The second round is about to begin. Contestants, please proceed to the arena." The receptionist's voice resounded throughout the waiting room.
"That's our call. Let's go, Orland." I started walking towards the exit when Orland pushed me back.
"Stand back! If I'm not wrong, about half the room is going to collapse in a flash of brilliant light right about..." A spiraling blue beam of force tore the waiting room in half, making everyone except me standing in the torn half of the room collapse into a dimensional abyss on the floor. "Now...Dialga did always like to do things the flashy way. I however, was horrified.
"Are...those...people gonna be...okay? They look mighty dead to me...they're having spasms!"
"Well...I think Dialga encased them in a shelling of time. They'll be stuck in a loop of time over and over again until Dialga releases them." I bent down, but Orland held me back. "Are you so sure you want to do that? If you get sucked in, then you will regret...!"
I went over to shake one of them up. Suddenly, the left gauntlet glowed when I touched his shoulder. Puzzled, I asked for advice. "That's funny...I don't remember my gloves reacting to anyone else but my own pokémon before..." Orland slapped my now glowing hand away. The dimensional orb shrunk a little where I had touched it.
"You imbecile...can't you see what this means?" Orland was smiling. "Your gloves are reacting to Dialga's power! Screw all the powers of the previous gauntlets...this is perfect! Makes me want to rhyme more..."
I held my glowing hand up and put it to his mouth. "There's no need for all this horse-play anymore. Besides, he's stirring. We still have competition for the ribbon."
"Not if I know Dialga, there won't." Orland sniggered. The teen stirred from his sleep. Orland bent over to prevent himself from being heard. "You remember the special arena? I'm sure Dialga is just gonna call out a dimensional sphere, whack out the other guy inside it and have our battle." He smiled. "Ahh...you've just woken. Some mentally unstable person came in and whacked everyone out just now. We can't fix this. Have you seen anything like this before?"
"Hmm..." The guy put his wrist to his chin, thinking. "Can't say I have...ee!" He collapsed to the floor. Orland carried him and threw him back inside the dimensional sphere.
"Isn't it kinda suspicious? After all, there is a great blob of glowy energy, and I'm wearing glowy gloves...won't they think we cheated?" Orland pulled me out of the room.
"C'mon...we need to go. Let's not make things worse for ourselves." We walked out of the room.
The receptionist's voice sounded from the speaker. "Let's give the contestants a...hand?" She was clearly confused. "Where are the other contestants...hello?" The champion stood up and held his hands up.
"Well, since there's no one else, then they automatically win. Well, since I'm not one to disappoint...I'll just have to exhibit...?" The champion's voice faltered. A teenager stumbled to the arena. He was the one who Orland had thrown in the orb. The champion swore in an unknown language under his breath.
"Cho...ka...ra..." He smacked his head. "I missed one." He quickly recovered. "Fine. Let's skip to the finals straightaway. I'll explain the special rules of the arena. Both of you will fight each other while facing this..." His body glowed, and the crowd cheered. Girls screamed their hearts out, and some even fainted.
"It's his signature illusion! What form will he take this time? Could it be?" The receptionist was on the edge of her seat. "Yes it is!" When the light died out, the champion had increased in size. The 'champion' turned into Dialga.
"Well...this is gonna be interesting. Let's begin. And I assure the both of you, I can use the Roar of time...ROOAAARRRR!!" Dialga opened his mouth, spewing bolts of dimensional energy everywhere. The energy fused together into a sphere, engulfing me and the other guy. "We're in my home ground now. Everyone's still watching outside. Now you know why I'm the champion." His mouth curled into a faint smile. The other teenager was terrified, and I felt fear welling in my heart. "Call out your partners! I know its a little dark in here." The mighty figure chuckled. The teenager shakily threw out his two pokéballs. Out appeared an espeon and a flareon.
"Sunrise, use psychic to stabilize us!" The espeon's eyes glowed, and they stopped floating around.
"You're not very experienced in fighting...are you? I have MUCH more power than your espeon." The massive figure taunted, floating in the dimensional abyss. A wave of force disrupted the espeon's psychic, and they started floating around again. I found it hard to keep my balance, but then again, I wasn't the only one. Orland was using some of his psychic force to maintain his stance, and the other trainer's espeon was flailing around in mid air, while the flareon squirmed around on its back. "How many of you can survive?"
Dialga opened his eyes, and his tail lengthened and increased in size. Glowing with dark energy, he opened his mouth and released a loud and mighty roar, time energies bursting from his mouth. As though he was holding back, he purposely targeted the opponent's pokémon first. The roar of time only grazed Orland's psychic barrier, and completely missed me. The opponent yelled a futile command to dodge, but could not find his footing. The beam of energy ran over them again and again until the other trainer's endurance wore thin. Unable to take anymore, the trio collapsed.
"Here comes the fun part, Orland." Dialga sniggered. "I'll see if he's worthy to inherit my powers...no. If he can even contain my powers to start with." The massive, blue figure's tail grew even larger, and it unleashed a massive beam of blue energy, focused towards me. "Kiaace, can you take it!?"
"No!" Orland yelled. "His power is yet to mature! You can't test him so far yet!" Orland put all of his reserve energy into action, forming a psychic shield around the both of us. It held firm under Dialga's might, and for a moment I thought we stood a chance of defeating this deity. However, Orland strained, and eventually lost focus. The blue beam of energy pierced through the barrier, hitting me hard. The whirlwind like time energy blades left cuts at all the parts of my body, and I yelled in agony as blood spurted everywhere from my white body. The blades on my hands barely helped to reduce the impact. Unable to continue, I collapsed into the bottomless, dark abyss. Orland shouted in vain. "If you have...killed him, I care not who you are...I will finish you." Orland's white body was slowly turning red, surprising him. His hands dripped red liquid, and Orland buckled. "What! I don't...remember being hurt...how...Kiaace, I've failed you...sorry..." Orland collapsed and fell after me.
"Looks like you couldn't take it, Kiaace. Till we meet again, then." Dialga snorted.
Regaining consciousness, I felt my body loosely falling, the sores from my wounds slowly healing. Red liquid splattered on my face, and when I looked up, there was a figure hurtling towards me at great speed. It was Orland!
"I've got you!" I said as I caught him. He opened his eyes weakly.
"Kiaace...why...was I wounded...suddenly?" He looked at me.
"Something happened like that before...when I first met Adelina. Except it happened the other way round..." I remembered the event.
"Sure..." He didn't believe me. He watched the last wound fade from my hand, appearing slowly on his. He smiled weakly. "Try to defeat Dialga...for me..." He passed out, unconscious. I let out a yell, and pushed my own psychic energy behind me, propelling me upwards.
"Dialga! You hurt my friend! I'll get you!" I roared in indescribable rage. A tear slid down my cheek. Surprised, the Dialga quickly let out another burst of energy in my direction. Focusing my psychic like Orland instructed, I generated a shield with the gauntlets to protect myself. The dimensional energy beam was absorbed completely by the crystalline shield. I buckled under the impact, but I felt Dialga's power flowing through my body.
"What the...how could it be?" Dialga was shocked. "You can do that? Absorb my power?" He didn't seem very worried. In fact, he smiled.
I concentrated, forcing the dimensional energy throughout the rest of my body, as I felt myself become human again. This time, I was not dressed in my own clothes, but a brilliant blue suit of heavy armor. In my hands were magnificent greatswords, sparkling with crystals, and they felt as light as feathers.
"Interesting way to use my strangth!" Dialga roared in joy.
"What's so funny? I'm about to kill you, Dialga!" Still seething with anger, I swung my crystalline greatswords in broad circles, hoping to score a hit on the massive deity. The massive figure kept hovering backwards, deftly dodging the blows.
"I have no wish to fight you anymore. I'm sure both of us find Orland's life more important than this petty squabble. My power is yours to utilize, for better or for worse." Dialga suddenly became very serious. He turned to leave, his tail swishing in the distance.
"Stop, Dialga!" I held him back.
"Yes, young one?" He was puzzled. "Is there something you want?"
"Can you tell me more about all this, Dialga? How do you know Orland? You sound so familiar with one another..."
"That I cannot reveal. You must find your purpose yourself. But let me give you a hint." Dialga winked. "Look closely at my tail when I leave this place." A large tome fell out of nowhere. "Oops. I've been careless. I shouldn't have let you see the grimoire. Ahh." He sounded unconvinced. A familiar voice rang inside the dimensional sphere.
"You let too much, Dialga." The familiar, deep, ruff voice resonated.
"I was careless. I'll try to keep my mouth shut in the future." Dialga smirked
"Whatever. Kiaace. Please try not to read the grimoire. Or at least not too much of it."
"Aha! You lied! You let off too much too." Dialga was laughing merrily.
"Oops. I was careless..." The voice faded away. Dialga turned to leave. He changed back into his human form and winked at me.
"Just a tip. Try your best to farm off as much of the energy of the dimensional sphere as possible. It can help strengthen you." He bent over to whisper something in my ear. "And your dark, furry relationship." He doubled over in laughter. Trying my best to hold my fist back, I noticed the 6 inset crystals on either side of his jeans. The jeans themselves were split into 2 different shades. Understanding, I bid Dialga farewell. I closed the dimensional sphere, absorbing the excess energy into my gauntlets. I felt a sudden high, and my feet felt like feathers. I watched the armor dissipate as my rage faded, leaving the two greatswords. Suddenly, they felt like a sack of bricks.
"What...the.........fuck!" I yelled, as my arms almost got yanked out of their sockets. "That...s heavy..." Suddenly, I noticed that I was no longer in the veil of the dimensional sphere. The crowd was staring at the carnaged arena, the bloody bodies of the opponents, as well as the broken body of Orland. After all, I was lugging two heavy blades.
"Apparently, some messy event happened in there!" The receptionist tried to smooth things over. "There are 5 visibly wounded, and one human with swords? Is some kind of foul play involved here?" I quickly changed into an absol, used a hastily charged shadow ball on the floor to create a veil of darkness, and tried to disappear. I gripped the winner's ribbon tightly in my fangs. Except that I did not expect the surge of power from Dialga to affect my abilities in such a crazy way. Apparently, the shadowy explosion was felt from the Kanto region!
As I carried the unconscious and severely wounded Orland out of the arena, I felt the earth rumble under my feet. I struggled around, only to see the battle arena collapsing. I mumbled under my breath.
"This has gone annoyingly far. Too far. I'm gonna have a long talk with the lucario when I get my hands on him." Orland stirred slightly, and he fell off my back. Shocked, I spun around on my pads to check his condition. He winced in visible agony, but he stirred from his unconsciousness.
"Kiaace, what happened there? I don't understand why I got hurt so badly just now. Sorry I couldn't help you out more. Did you beat Alyss? Oh...no! My lips are loose..." He sighed. "Since I've been careless, I shall tell you the whole story..."
"Later. Worry more about your wounds first." I let him ride my back again. Then, I felt a sharp blade slit my paw. I looked down to see my fur turning a crimson red. "Here we go again. Orland, your story can wait. Right now, bring me to the pokémon centraa!" I wailed in agony as gashes appeared along the underside of my furry belly. "That...hurt...a lot...fuckkk!" As my eyes narrowed to slits, and my vision faded, I felt myself being lifted in the air by a pair of steady hands. I took a final look at Orland's glittery locks, and something became clear to me...
"Are you alright? Hey I remember you! You're the injured absol who came a week ago! Why are you so badly hurt again!? I'll give you emergency treatment..." Nurse Joy asked me at the pokécentre. She sprayed a full restore over my wounds. She turned to Orland. "Who are you? Do you know him?" Orland opened his mouth to speak, but I weakly interrupted him.
"Can you please shut the fuck up and do your job? Why do you need to know why I'm injured?"
Orland quickly smoothed things over. "He's not actually a pokémon...he's actually my trainer. We just encountered something strange happening along the way. Twice now. Do you still remember the human in the pokécentre? The one in the...buff?" Nurse Joy blushed, and Orland gave a hint of a smile.
"How...did you know...about that? You weren't there on that day!" My face was also flushing vigorously now.
"True...that needs some explanation. I'll explain in more detail...privately." He sneered at Nurse Joy.
"Ahh...I see. Your ward is over there. Next time, tell him to keep his clothes on." Both of us flushed harder, and I shook up and down. Apparently, Orland was bristling with laughter inside. He carried me into the room and gently closed the door.
"Still remember what...Dialg...Alyss dropped?"
"Who's Alyss? I don't know anyone called Alyss...you mean Dialga? Strange, he wore a pair of pants that looked like my gauntlets now."
"Yes. There's a reason he's called Alyss. He was the one who saved the world the last time, before you. He'd wanted to stay in this form in order to protect the world."
"And what's this book? Alyss called it a grimoire." I nudged it closer with my muzzle. "Anything special in it?"
Orland's jaw dropped in horror. "That's a book that you shouldn't see!" He grabbed it from the floor. "It's how we know everything about you...arrgh!" I nipped Orland's hand, making him drop the thick book on the floor. I parted the cover with my tongue and started reading it.
*Spoilers for Final Fantasy Tactics Assault 2*
"Hey! This is a story of my life! Every little point chronicled in such detail!" I stared at Orland. "So that's how you know so much about me! I bet Alyss and the lucario know about this too, am I right!" All I felt was disbelief inside me.
"Yes. But you're not the only one." He raised his hands, and several rime-bound books fell from the sky. "See, this is mine, and this is Alyss's." Suddenly, those three books glowed with an unnatural glow. My book's pages flipped of their own accord, to a new blank page. Words literally imprinted themselves into the book of their own accord.
"What the! It's recording the fight with Dialga! How?"
"Do you think I know? It's a magic force that lucario had been studying. A thousand years, and he hasn't had a breakthrough as of yet." Orland sighed. "Also, just in case you're wondering, he has a book too. Except he keeps his very well." A blinding beam of light appeared, and a humanoid figure appeared.
*End of spoilers*
"Orland! What's wrong! I sense that the library's been ran...sacked. Alyss showed him the book...I just know it!" Sensing his displeasure, I whispered into Orland's ear.
"Is he by any chance older than you?" It was just a hunch.
"Yes..." Orland whispered back. "By about a hundred years...or so."
"Never talk about an old man's age! Orland!" The lucario was blushing. He grabbed Orland by his neck. "I could crush you here right now. I'm that powerful!"
"Why...so...serious? You know you failed your task! I did both my job and your job for you! Chill out!" Orland was obviously annoyed. "Besides, he will know about this sooner or later!"
"I'd rather it be later! After all this is over! And he is in the Order!" The lucario smacked his forehead. "Ai...I let out another secret." Orland laughed.
"What is the Order?" I asked Orland. Orland whistled, and gently tripped the lucario on his way out. "If you're really that curious, go find out yourself. Go check his paw carefully." Obliging, I sated my innate curiosity by lifting his paw. At first, nothing special caught my eye. Suddenly, a little glint caught my eye. 6 crystals were embedded in his paw.
"Happy now? I take my leave." The lucario prepared to teleport away.
"Wait! Where are you going?" He was leaving so soon?
"I have something else to do, in another part of time. By the way, someone will come to see you later on. special, he is." Lucario was dissipating, when a shadowy hand stabbed him.
"Wrong. Darkrai is here!" Darkrai had an insane smile on his face. The lucario slid limply off his hand, reforming.
"We...fight...now...then, we...can't...finish this...the irony!" The lucario spat out blood. Still writhing, he passed out, smiling on the floor.
"Now that he's gone, you must accede to my request. I want power. Grant it to me. Or I will rend it from you." Darkrai clenched a shadowy fist.
"Never!" The two of us shouted in unison. I used the last burst of Dialga's power to change myself back into a human, blades and all. "Pry it from my cold, dead body."
"Who are you to use Dialga's power? You learnt well from Dialga. Pity I can do that too!" Darkrai materialized 2 blue, crystalline greatswords in his hands. "Let's..." He struck at Orland, who nimbly parried.
"Begin!" Darkrai's mouth contorted into a crooked smile.
I raised my swords, ready to devastate. Orland, nodding, went over to help the mortally wounded lucario.
Swinging my swords in broad circles, I fenced with the shadowy figure, dispersing shadows everywhere. I would fight if I had to.
