The Whore's Power
-------------------------------------------
Me, Aroma, Brimstone, Charm, and Aurora were all standing to attention as Typhoon stood in front of us about to give us a briefing as to our training regiment. Alexis had left somewhere to go pick up the use of somebody they called the Mankey Workers to come do some extra work on their home, I caught her leaving with a very large load of peeled chestnuts strapped to her back, but I didn't bother to press the issue.
"Alright now kids. Before we begin, I'm going to tell you a secret normally held only by very powerful pokemon. It's how team Poke Whores has become as powerful as they have." he said, this easily caught our attention as we all perked up.
"You might have noticed that pokemon in their team who are normally quite weak have acquired massive levels of power upon joining, and how they possess techniques which ordinarily could not be learned through training their species." Typhoon began to explain, pointing to a crate beside him which he had carried out of the house prior to this set up.
"The answer is they are using very powerful items known as Vitamins and Technical Machines!" He called while prying open the box to reveal a large collection of CD's and pill bottles inside. "Vitamins instantly boost your physical attributes upon taking them. Overdosing on these pills can cause an ordinarily weak pokemon to become near god-like in a matter of seconds. Poke Whores owns their own personal storage of vitamins and supplies them to their troops like military rations." said Typhoon as he pulled out the bottles. Each was marked with Calcium, Protein, Iron, and Zinc, Carbos, PP Up, PP Max, HP Up, and Rare Candy.
"But even with all that power increase, Pokemon who rush through them tend to have very little control over their power. It can backfire as they aren't skilled enough to control it. Over the course of your training, you will be fed a slow and steady portion of these vitamins so you can get used to their power. This should supply a sure edge against your competition." Said Typhoon as he began to list off what each vitamin did.
Calcium= increases the special attack power of the pokemon who ingests it. Also makes their bones stronger.
Protein= raises the normal attack power of the pokemon who ingests it, also strengthens their muscular structure.
Iron= raises the normal defense power of the pokemon who ingests it, also serves to reinforce their muscular structure
Zinc= raises the special defense power of the pokemon who ingests it, also serves to reinforce their muscular structure.
Carbos= increases the speed of the pokemon who ingests it, also serves to supply extra energy to the pokemon's body
PP Up= increases the maximum number of times a Pokemon can perform a specific move in their technique list by 1/5 of it's base limit. Only 3 PP Ups can be use per move.
PP Max= has the same effect has 3 PP Ups.
Rare Candy= instantaneously raises the pokemon's level by 1 when eaten. One of the most sought after vitamins of them all, hence where it got the name "rare". But this candy has a glaring flaw which few pokemon tend to notice.
"What kind of flaw is that, Father?" asked Aurora, "If they can instantly increase our levels, shouldn't we just be taking those instead?" she proceeded.
"No!" shouted Typhoon, causing us to jump back a bit. "Rare Candy only proceeds to raise your level, but it actually leaves your attributes at the same points they were at before eating it. If you eat a Rare Candy, you'll certainly meet your evolutionary requirements and technique requirements sooner than expected, but your power for that level will be severely reduced." he explained, "As far as I know, only the higher ranking members of team Poke Whores are smart enough to realize this, so you will be able to catch them completely off guard when they overestimate their powers."
We all cheered a little at this, it would definitely help to have the element of surprise on our hands as Typhoon now moved onto explaining the data disks.
"And these are TM's." he said, "Technical Machines enable the pokemon who use them to learn techniques which ordinarily could not be possessed by them. Most TM's are used for techniques which a Pokemon naturally learns in order to teach them the move earlier, but some techniques can never be learned without the use of a TM. We're going to give you these special techniques so you can get used to their power. You may only use 2 each however, these moves are extremely hard to get a hold of, especially since Poke Whores began buying out every shop that sells them." he explained. We began to approach and select the TM's we wanted. Each disk had a number engraved into them as well as the name of the technique it possessed.
I chose two disks labeled Blizzard and Brick Break. I thought that an ice type ability would come in handy for slowing down our enemies, while a fighting type ability powerful enough to smash through bricks would put a damper on their heightened defenses of the pokemon we would be battling.
Brimstone choose two techniques labeled Substitute and Attract. We were all surprised as to why she picked defensive type moves when she was supposed to be our primary fighter. But she told us that her pride as a fire type had blinded her when she got thrashed earlier, and that some defensive type moves wouldn't be a bad insurance policy for future battles.
Aroma on the other hand, was completely opposite. Rather than sticking with her supportive skills, she went straight into choosing offensive abilities by choosing Toxic and Giga Drain. She thought that a poison ability would be a tremendous help, while the power to drain the life energy from her opponent to heal herself would also be handy in emergencies.
Charm declined the offer for any TM's, stating that she already had used such machines from her time as a dungeon team and had grown quite used to them, but that she would settle for accepting the vitamins as part of her training.
Aurora made a similar decision, not even used to her newly acquired psychic form, she decided she would sit back and watch her current abilities develop.
And so began our training, and boy were we in for a surprise! Typhoon began to lead us around to the back of the run down house where a forest was up ahead. A big sign saying "Danger, Poke Pal's training area. Diamond Rank or higher teams only!"
"Each of you will be spending no less than two full hours in this training course a day, taking every Saturday to rest and be fed your vitamin supplies for the next week. If you can successfully make it through this forest, your training will be complete." said Typhoon, "Just make it to the center and face the opponent you meet there, only once you defeat the opponent will you be truly ready to face Lust." he added.
And with that, he sent us on our way into the forest, what kind of horrendously powerful training we would encounter, we didn't know. But no sooner had we each stepped one foot into the forest, then the training began! We heard a loud whizzing sound as something was flying through the air. We looked around in confusion as we heard a faint thunk near our feet and looked down to see a small yellow seedling embedded in the ground.
"It's a blast seed!" shouted Brimstone as the seed exploded, sending us sprawling throughout the area as we dove for cover. As the explosion finished, we heard several more rapid whizzing sounds coming for our direction.
"Everybody scatter!" I shouted as we took off in various directions, trying to avoid the explosions going on around us, the entrance to the training was starting to light up like a Christmas tree as explosions leveled the area!
"Ah!" shouted Aroma as she was struck full force in the face by a seed, but instead of exploding, it burst into a strange green vapor which she reflexively inhaled and then fell unconscious on the spot. It was a sleep seed, and as she passed out, she was teleported out of the forest in a flash of light, leaving the rest of us to continue fending for ourselves.
"Help me!" cried Aurora as she tried to outrun another trap but stepped on a well placed mine which exploded into some strange green ooze, coating her body and sticking her to the ground, another blast seed flew at her and made a direct hit, causing her to teleport out of the forest as the explosion knocked her out cold.
"We're getting slaughtered in here!" I shouted as I dove for the ground just as three silver spikes flew overhead, nailing themselves to a tree just behind me. I watched as Brimstone was the next one to go, she was assaulted by a hail stream of silver spikes, sending her crashing to the ground unconscious with several spikes sticking out of her arms and back, she teleported away as well.
By this time, I noticed Charm was putting up a far better fight than any of us, having originally been a ruby rank team member, she was far more used to training than our puny little Bronze Rank team was. She was dodging the projectiles with relative ease, but even she was finding it difficult to maintain such defenses for long, I could tell her stamina was wearing thin.
"Crap!" I said as I turned to see another seed flying as it landed right in my mouth, exploding on contact. I felt like I had just bitten through a jaw breaker without sucking it first, my mouth was rearing from the pain as I fell back, clutching my jaws and noticed as another seed was flying straight at me, this one exploded into similar green mist and I passed out just as I watched Charm be brought down by an exploding mine trap.
I awoke later to the sound of heavy pounding and banging, my jaw was still sore, but I could tell I had been given treatment to numb the pain and heal the injuries, I looked around to see the rest of my team were in equally bad shape, Brimstone had bandages covering about 10% of her body as Aurora's once beautiful fur was now mangy with singe marks and strange sticky fluid from the earlier trap. Aroma was still groggy from being knocked out and looked half exhausted, while Charm's fur had been singed off, leaving her naked as she embarrassedly covered herself with a garb of loose wrapped bandages covering her torso to hide her private parts.
"What happened?" I asked as I sat up, expecting to be allowed to relax after that. I was startled as Typhoon picked me up from behind and set me back on my feet before turning me to face the house again, a group of Mankey were tirelessly working away on fixing up the house.
"You got slaughtered like a bunch of children before even making it 10 feet into the forest. You've got about an hour and 45 minutes left for today's training, so you're going back in!" he said with a laugh as he began to pick us all up and hurl us one by one back into the forest, not even giving us time to protest.
"Don't worry, fur and scales grow back!" he called as we were once again bombarded with traps. I could only hope that this training didn't kill us before Poke Whores had a chance to do so...
