Missions, Ninjas, and Plot Twists!

Author's Note: Sorry that it took so long to post this chapter, but I was having a very difficult time trying to come up with a direction in which to take the story while typing it. Now that I have a setting, it shouldn't be too difficult to come up with future chapters!

Derek's POV

"We have to what?" I asked as Aroma and Brimstone stood on either side of me while we stood in front of the Raichu who was handing us our next mission paper. The job was simple, very simple! So simple, in fact, that it barely qualified as an actual mission and more like an errand!

"I told you when you first signed up that Woodland Meadow is so small time that barely anybody cares about it." said the Raichu casually as we looked over the papers. We had a total of three missions to perform in our newly conquered territory.

Mission 1: Item Delivery
Info: Treecko is a hermit living in Woodland Meadow, recorded as being the only one of his kind within the woods. He wants a Dungeon Team to deliver three grass gummies to him which should help with his slowly increasing insanity. Reward shall be 50 Poke for each Grass Gummi

"Gummies are special candy for us Pokemon, simply eating one will make your intelligence skyrocket!" said Aroma as she held the paper to the floor with one paw, being that she couldn't stand up to hold it, "ooh, three grass gummies is so tempting! I can just imagine what I might learn from them!" she added.

Mission 2: Ammunition Gathering
Info: Attention Dungeon Team, my Spearow clan is constantly being assaulted by wild pokemon due to living so close to the wilderness. We want you to gather any rocks you can find in the Woodland Meadow and bring them to us back at the Dungeon Team Association. These should keep the wilds away from us for a while. We'll pay you 5 Poke for each rock you bring us!

"I think some Gravler Rocks might do the trick, they're usually pretty good as non lethal weaponry against wild pokemon." said Brimstone. Unlike Aroma, she could stand on her hind legs and was holding the paper in front of her outstretched due to her rather long nose.

"What's with this Poke, they're claiming to give us?" I asked as I noticed the third mission.

Mission 3: Babysitting
Info: My little Squirtle is so lonely when I go out to swim in the deep sea, won't some kind dungeon team please spend some time with him playing in the Woodland Meadow? I should be back by sunset! I'll pay you 50 Poke as a reward!

"Poke is the currency we use, it looks like what humans refer to as gold coins, but we call it Poke!" said Aroma with a smile. I nodded in understanding and then we each took the papers and decided to split the work between us. Since it was all work for the same area, we thought that dividing the team into different sectors would be a good idea.

"Oh and by the way!" said the Raichu as we were about to head out the exit of the base, "Don't forget that now you own Woodland Meadow. That means you can start recruiting wild pokemon into your team from that region!" he said with a smile as Aroma and Brimstone's eyes lit up with excitement. "The wilds in that area are Ratata, Pidgey, and Ekans. Anything else is either considered a traveler, or off limits." he added, causing them to slightly lose their excitement at the mark of how few we could choose from recruiting.

After a few hours, we had arrived in the forest and were all split up to perform our duties. The forest wasn't too big, we were all within at most five minutes walk of each other, and the Squirtle boy wasn't too difficult to look after as I took him to a river we had passed by when dealing with Darts earlier. Although there was one time where he thought it would be a good idea to use bubble on any wild pokemon passing by, and I had to react quickly to fight them off!

By the end of the day, we all met back up as the Association Base. Forest was smiling wide and cheerful as she said that in addition to the money, the Treecko had allowed her to have one of the green gummies as a bonus. She said she could already feel the intelligence flowing through her mind.

Brimstone looked much worse, she had several band aids and bruises from helping fight off the wild pokemon as she had gathered the Gravler Rocks. Her injuries weren't too severe, but she did seem angry by them. Although she did have a generously sized bag of Poke to show off how many rocks she had collected.

I was tired from having taken care of the Squirtle, but otherwise fine and it's mother rewarded me with a generous portion of Poke. By the time we had all regrouped, we had gathered nearly 230 Poke! Apparently Gravler Rocks were easy to come by, thanks to Brimstone's efforts.

Meanwhile....

"Just as I thought, this isn't even worth investigating..." said Mandragora as flopped down on the grass next to the river. He had spent the whole day chasing after Aroma just to watch her give some candy to some hermit Treecko. It had been an utter waste of his time and efforts. He heard a splash and looked over just in time to see his partner, Swamp burst from the river and land gracefully beside him like a ninja.

Six hours of watching him baby-sit a turtle, not very important work for me either..." said Swamp as he crossed his arms and lazily sat down, letting his feet soak in the river he had just jumped out of. Both pokemon simply grumbled to themselves over their waste of effort until they heard furious stomping and looked in surprise to see Phoenix trudging up to them with several bandages across his body.

"Oh I got something to report!" barked the angry fire bird as it held up several sheets of paper on a clip board. "I just spent six hours trying to hide while fighting off wild pokemon. The Cyndaquil is a pretty good fighter, for a first stage Pokemon." said Phoenix, tossing the clip board to Mandragora who caught it with his vines and began to read over the notes.

"It seems that the little fire mouse is their best fighter, if we can take her out, the other two should be easy prey." said Swamp casually as he didn't even bother looking at the chart.

That's how their squad was set up. Mandragora was the leader of the squad, using his combination of grass and poison moves to set up traps and ambushes. Swamp was the careful tactician and advisor due to his combination of water and ground type moves while Phoenix was the brute strength of the group thanks to his combination of fire and fighting moves. All three of them being multiple elementals made their squad rather formidable.

"Heh, maybe once we take care of her, we can get that blowjob we demanded..." said Phoenix while plopping down on a tree as Swamp whacked him with one of his large paws, causing the fire bird to yelp and clutch his head.

"Idiot, we may be perverts, but we're still a dungeon team. We don't rape people, we take sex as payment for jobs!" exclaimed the water/ground pokemon as if shocked at the thought of molesting the young fire mouse.

"Swamp's right." said Mandragora as he set the clipboard down, "I think not raping and molesting the public is probably the only reason the entire world hasn't decided to storm our walls and kick us out. As long as we obey the laws of society, we're accepted even if they hate us." he added.

"Not to mention the founders of our team, they can defeat even legendaries in battle, so it's possibly due to fear that stops them." said Swamp as they began to activate their team badges to recall back to the Dungeon Team Association as they had no more jobs to spy upon.

Back with team Sea Forest Fire, Derek's point of view...

I watched as Aroma and Brimstone poured over a new mission report on the large straw bed. Whatever they were looking at, it was obviously important because neither of them could be bothered to tear themselves away from it. Finally, they began to speak loud enough for me to hear.

"Are you sure it's real? We shouldn't try moving in too soon." said Aroma as her stumpy tail wiggled in excitement. "If we manage to get our hands on it, we could definitely show those three who's boss!" she added.

"I don't know, I wouldn't want to risk igniting a war with the Poke Whores just yet, but maybe we can sneak in under their noses." said Brimstone as her back flared with fire. Suddenly, the two of them looked up from their papers and turned to me.

"Derek, what do you think?" they asked in unison. I shrugged as I hadn't gotten a chance to look at the mission, the two of them had jumped straight to the bed the moment they read the title.

"What's going on? You two are acting so secretive, I don't even know what you're talking about." I replied, causing the two of them to rush over to me and hold the paper up. On the mission, showed a small section of the world map, a territory not too far from the one we currently controlled, but was dominated by Poke Whores. Next to the section of the map was a drawing of a large green crystal which had small lines drawn to indicate it might be glowing.

"An evolution shrine!" Said Brimstone while shaking the paper in front of me, "If we can just reach this crystal, we can dramatically improve our powers instantly!" she added. I blinked in surprise at hearing this. The thought of being able to evolve into a more powerful pokemon hadn't occurred to me until just now.

"There are several shrines located all around the world, but they're extremely well hidden or guarded. This is probably the closest one we know about." said Aroma.

"I'm not even sure I can evolve yet, I just became a Pokemon the other day." I replied, looking at my sharp, yet meek claws. Sure I had helped take down a Nidorino, but I hardly considered that to be enough to reach evolutionary stage.

"Don't worry, we're not exactly going there to claim the territory, only to find out if it's true or not." said Brimstone, "If it is true, we can begin building up our power until we're strong enough to go there and evolve, and if it's just a fake, then we'll forget about the whole ordeal." she explained. I couldn't find any valid points to argue with that plan, except for how the area belonged to three members of the Poke Whores team.

"Alright fine, but if anything goes wrong, I'm placing the full blame on you two!" I warned them, causing the two girls to giggle as we began to discus our infiltration strategy.
