Story Notes:
I'm just slapping this together for someone, so don't hate me if it's horrible. I'll add categories and other stuff as the story goes along. Only the first chapter is up.
Chapter 1
"Shit! I thought I took out the alarm!" An alarm blared throughout the museum. "Smooth move, Kail. You didn't think of two alarms!"
At that monet, two guards came through the entrance to the jewel room. "It's her! It's Kail, the Cat!"
"Meow! And get it stuck!" She jumped and fury swiped the two guards. She landed, and the guards fell. Oh yeah, she was good.
She ran as fast as her legs would carry her, but 3 more guards showed up with guard dogs.
"Me-yikes! Now, I really hate doggies!" She got on all fours and booked it down the hall, faster than any human could do on two legs. The perks of being half-pokemon, half-human. She was out the door before anyone could catch her, but there were at least 20 other guards waiting, with Houndours and Houndooms, waiting to catch her.
"Kail! You're surrounded! Drop the diamonds, and put your hands in the air!" The chief of police said.
It's times like these that she was glad to have an ace in the hole. She glowed white for a minute, and then gave off a brilliant flash of light. The guards were momentarily stunned, and when they looked back, she was gone.
There were scattered "She dissapeared" "She's rumored to be part-pokemon." "It's only a myth." from the police officers.
She was scaling the rooftops with delicate ease. She watched the cops carefully, thinking tha they might get smart, and shine a light. With some luck, they didn't. "Meowth! I've gotta find a place to stay for the night. Lay low from the cops." She scaled the buildings and looked into apartment buildings. She soon found an abandoned apartment. She picked her way into the apartment, and entered. She closed and locked the door behind her, and proceeded to empty her rucksack. She used it for everything. Her clothes, her hats, her sleeping things, everything. With this rucksack, she could pass for human. She went to the kitchen sink and turned on the faucet, but no water dripped. She furiously banged on the faucet, but nothing came out.
"There's s-some w-water in the bathtub i-if you want it."
Kail froze. She turned around and saw a very scared looking boy, 12, maybe 13. He looked at her with his blu-ish green eyes. The hair on his head no longer than her 3" claws at full height. His clothes looked pretty raggedy, like he'd been on the run. At first, Kail's first instinct was to run, but then she saw the fear in his eyes, and she decided to stay. 'As long as he's afraid of me, he won't be a problem.' She walked to the bathroom where there was water in the sink and tub. It looked pretty clean. She drank some from the tub, as she might need the sink water for something else. It tasted clean, and pure. "Me-yum! Where did this water come from?" She asked the boy.
"I-I got it f-from t-the s-s-store." He said.
"So, you have money?" She inquired.
"N-no. I-I don't."
"So, you're a thief?"
The boy took a while before he answered. "I don't l-like to s-s-steal, b-but I n-needed things." He said.
Kail looked around the apartment, and found subtle, but obvious signs of inhabitation. A sleeping bag, some clothes scattered around, and some toothpaste and a tooth brush. These things were unnoticed by Kail as she searched for an empty apartment, so he must be good at hiding his tracks. "So, tell me. How long have you been on the run?" She asked as she entered the living room.
"F-For about t-two y-years. M-my mom w-was a d-drug addict, a-and my d-d-dad was a s-sex o-offender. He w-would c-come home d-drunk a-and have his way with m-my mom, then, f-for laughs, h-he w-w-would h-have h-his w-way w-w-with me..." his voice trailed off, and as he remembered the horrible time, his stuttering got worse.
Kail didn't know what caused it, but she felt sorry for the boy. It was probably the human in her, but she didn't mind for some strange reason. She went over to the boy and put a comforting paw on his shoulder. "Me-Yikes! How did you live with that so long?"
But the boy wouldn't talk anymore. She decided to continue with her bedtime routine, and got her sleeping bag and clothes for tomorrow out of her bag. She laid out the sleeping bag, and placed her clothes next to where her head would go. She berated herself for not grabbing a pillow from the store. She looked at where her head would go with disgust, when the boy decided to pipe up. "Y-you can s-share my p-pillow i-if y-you want."
"Meowth? You would do that?"
"S-sure! I'm R-Rein, by the way. W-what's y-your n-name?"
For a minute, she considered giving him her thief name,, but he seemed trusting enough to handle her real name. "It's Taiyala."
"T-that's a p-pretty name."
"I got it from my mom. She was human, and my father was a Pokemon. Now, I'm half and half. Anyway, she came from a country far off, and it means 'Star's Light.' It's al I have to remember he by." She grabbed her sleeping bag and brought it next to Rein's bag. She was surprised by the size of the pillow. It was as long as she was tall! She stretched it out from one sleeping bag to the next. Either end was on one of the sleeping bags, and it looked as if she was gonna sleep soundly tonight. She clambored into her sleeping bag and, careful not to zip her tail, zipped it shut and decided she needed some sleep. "I'm gonna go to bed."
"Good n-night, Taiyala."
"Mm-hmm." She had already fallen asleep. As she lay there, Rein walked out on the balcony and began singing a celtic song his mother always sang to him to get him to sleep before she got hooked on drugs. It always helped him sleep. When he finished te song, he clambored into his own sleeping bag and before going to sleep stroked Taiyala's head. It was soft, and it was silky smooth. He went to bed, and didn't do anything till morning.Chapter End Notes:Well, what do you think? Let me know
