Chapter 4

Matt took some soap, and began rubbing his shin clean of the white, sticky liquid. He could not believe that Nidoran would go to such lengths to have an orgasm. He needed to get cleaned up right now, or else he might be late for Jeremy's house. As he was washing, he debated on whether or not to tell Jeremy about this little "incident". He would probably understand. After-all, he was the one that showed him all this stuff. Matt stepped out of the shower, once again, drying himself off hastily. He threw on the same shirt, a new pair of pants, and grabbed his gear.

Making sure he had Nidoran secured in his Poke Ball, he stuck it onto his belt, and started out the door. He flipped open his PokeNav, then found the message he had saved. He read the directions, memorized them, and put the PokeNav away. It would take approximately 20 minutes to reach his house. This trip meant traveling through the forest for most of the time. Matt wondered if letting Nidoran out to walk along with him was a smart idea. Matt thought he couldn't be THAT horny, after what just happened, so out Nidoran came. In that familiar popping sound, and a flash of blinding white light, Nidoran appeared, as if out of thin air.

"Nido-ran!" he called happily as he started running around, and examining his surroundings. He sniffed some trees, ate some berries, and then returned to Matt's side like an obedient dog. They continued walking, making great time, and enjoying the scenery. Nidoran looked around and, obviously taking notice of something, ran off to investigate. Watching Nidoran run through the bushes made Matt laugh a little. Thinking it was nothing more than a simple Wurmple, and leaving it at that, he continued walking, waiting for Nidoran's return.

Matt started thinking about what it would be like at Jeremy's house. It would have to be pretty secluded if it was all the way out here. Maybe it was some sort of farm? Only time would tell. Speaking of time, he would be arriving shortly. Matt started looking for a glimpse of the estate, when his PokeNav sounded off. Matt reached into his pocket, flipped it open, and read the message.

"Look up."

Confused, Matt reread the message. It was unsigned, so Matt had no idea who exactly sent the message. Matt, finally deciding to do what the message had suggested, stopped, and looked straight up. He was met with bright, translucent red eyes and a sloppy lick on the face. Matt gave a yelp of surprise, and fell onto his back.

Just above him, perched in the overhanging tree branches, was Flygon, with Jeremy sitting on his back. Jeremy, who was doubled over with laughter, finally managed to say "Nicely done, Flygon!". Flygon, who recognized this as praise, gave Jeremy a lick as well, cooing gleefully, and waving his stubby arms around.

Flygon gave a quick flutter, and landed on the ground gracefully. Matt was amazed. Flygon and Jeremy and been so perfectly coordinated that they snuck right up to him! Jeremy hopped off of his green companion, and walked over to Matt to help him up.

"How did you do that?" Matt asked in wonderment, wiping the Flygon spittle off of his cheek. Jeremy simply shrugged.

"I dunno..." he said with a small hint in his voice. "We came from our house, just up over the hill. We thought you shouldn't have to walk the rest of the way."

"Can Flygon carry both of us?" Matt asked, uncertain on whether or not Flygon was strong enough.

"Of course! He's stronger than he looks! I know that from first-hand experience. "

Matt was about to ask what exactly he meant by that, when he noticed something wasn't quite right. Something was wrong.

"Matt? Is something wrong?" Jeremy asked once he saw Matt space out.

Matt was lost in thought, unsure of what was out of place. Jeremy continued to ponder him with questions, wondering if he was OK. But Matt blocked them out, not resting until he knew what was so peculiar. Then he knew. It was like someone hit a switch, turning on a lightbulb in his brain.

It was silent. Absolutely, completely, totally silent. Eerily silent.

Matt placed a hand over Jeremy's mouth, silencing him as well. He whispered into his ear. "Listen!" is all he had to say, to make Jeremy stop protesting to his sudden gag, and to quiet. Both boy's mouths were hung open in amazement. The Tailows had ceased to sing, along with the Pidgeys, Spearows, and Murkrows. Small forest ground Pokemon, like Pikachu, Bulbasaur, and Chikorita, had stopped rustling bushes. It was too quiet.

Flygon got the idea, and stopped making sound as well. Matt and Jeremy looked at each other wondering what was going on. Then they heard a small pop, echoing off the hill, down into the forest. Flygon's sensitive hearing helped him determine where it was coming from. He cocked his head back and forth, his dual antennae picking it up. After about 5 seconds of tweaking, he slowly turned his head with a look of dread in his eyes. Matt was still thinking about what it could have been, when Jeremy's eyes suddenly became as large as dinner plates.

"RUN!" Jeremy screamed, as he grabbed Matt's hand and started sprinting away, with Flygon pulling up the rear. Hearts pounding, they ran wildly for a few more meters, before Jeremy stopped Matt, with one finger over his lips. He carefully mouthed the word "Watch", while pointing over to where they had been standing.

3 seconds later, a large, unknown object came slamming down, enveloping the area they had been only moments ago. Matt jumped, stifling a scream. It was a net, made out of a heavy, reinforced metal wire. It had weights all around the edges, to make sure any possible catches remained caught. 2 more seconds passed, when the net started sparking, and jumping around violently. Matt's eyes were glued, watching the terrifying event unfold. After a while, the net finally stopped, a trail of black smoke curling up into the air, scorching the unfortunate grass underneath. Horrified, Matt reflected on how lucky they were just now.

The boys looked at each other again, with looks of disbelief. Matt mouthed the words "Thank you", while patting Jeremy on the back, a little scared. Jeremy grabbed him again, dragging him into some nearby shrubs. He looked at Flygon, and gave him 3, crisp hand signals - a fist, four fingers held up, and then a thumb pointing behind him. Whatever these meant, Flygon seemed to understand, because he nodded, and flew off without a sound.

Before Matt could ask what that meant, 4 men made the scene. Matt could tell they were armed as well, as there were butt ends of hand guns sticking out of holsters on the side of their pants. These men appeared to be professionals, and as they walked towards the net, one of them started cursing and swearing, discovering the net contained nothing.

"Again! Nothing! Someone needs to re-calibrate that damned cannon, because we aren't catching nothing no-more!" He yelled furiously.

"Sorry Boss! We must have miscalculated the coordinates!" One of the accomplices apologized.

"... We have 4 days to return to headquarters. We need something to bring back. Let's get that cannon reset, and we'll try again later.", the "Boss" said, a clear tone of irritability present in his voice.

Matt started to understand what was happening. Those men were the ones that shot that net at them, out of some sort of cannon? It was still unclear. Matt turned to face Jeremy, to see him listening intently as well. The men folded the net up, and walked back the way they came, into the heavy trees and forest. Matt counted to 20, then turned to Jeremy, millions of questions begging to be asked at a single time.

"Who were they?" Matt asked, finally choosing a question to start off with.

"Poachers." Jeremy simply said. "They have been occupying the area outside of here for several months now. I didn't think they would move in this direction. I guess I was wrong."

Matt didn't understand why people didn't just buy some Poke balls, and catch them the normal way, instead of tossing electrified nets on them, and hurting them. It was cruel, mean, and it didn't make any sense.

Matt realized Jeremy was looking straight up into the cloudy sky, like he was looking for something. Matt looked up as well, wondering what exactly he was looking for. Then, from behind a cloud, a glimpse of green could be seen, hovering, and zipping around. Jeremy started swinging his arms, and stopped when the green dot started getting larger. Leaves and small twigs jumping off of the ground, Flygon landed on the ground without a sound, happy to see that both of them were Ok. He licked both of them on the cheek, grinning.

Jeremy hopped onto his back, inviting Matt on as well. Matt gladly reached for the outstretched hand, until something hit him. Not literally, of course. Mentally, however, something hit him.

Nidoran wasn't with him.

Matt immediately panicked, turning away, burying his face into his hands. He kept asking himself, what kind of trainer he was? What trainer didn't remember his own Pokemon? Jeremy hopped off of Flygon, and walked over to Matt.

"Matt? What's wrong?"

"Nidoran! It's Nidoran! He left a little while ago, and still hasn't come back! I don't know how I could have possibly forgotten him!" Matt cried, fighting back tears.

"Well... Let's go and find him!" Jeremy said, unsure of what the problem was.

"For all we know, he probably got captured by those men! He might be out there, hurt, or lost! Or worse! Dead!"

Jeremy grabbed hold of Matt, and looked him in the eye. "Don't worry about it! Nidoran can look after himself, I'm sure of it! Remember that he was wild at some point!"

Considering this, Matt took a deep breath, and tried not to worry. "Let's go find him."

Jeremy smiled, and they began walking back the way Matt came, with Flygon in tow.
