Chapter 11
Ch. 11
With all that we put out the fire and headed into the tent. I had a thought and I pulled out Jenavee's pokeball and held it out in front of her.
"If you want to Jenavee you can either sleep with me or you can sleep inside of your ball." I turned my hand open with her ball in it.
"That is alright, but I think I would like to sleep outside of my ball at least to see what it is like sleeping out here in the woods with you." I nodded and I put her ball away on my belt. I untied my sleeping bag and rolled it out. I pulled out my pillow and slipped out of my clothes and looked at Jenavee. She was staring at me with wide eyes.
"Is their something wrong Jenavee?"
"Um, well, where will I sleep tonight?" I slipped into the sleeping bag and opened it a little wider and motioned her forward.
"I wouldn't dream of you sleeping out in the cold. So if you are ok with it, you can sleep in here with me." She just looked at me with wide eyes.
"Is it really alright that I can sleep with you?"
"Well I offered so of course it's alright. Now get in here and lets get some sleep." She smiled and with quick tip toe steps she ran over to me and jumped into the sleeping bag with me. So I scooted into the bag and looked over to see Jenavee with her head on the pillow facing me. I gave her a smile and scooted down, pulled the zipper up, closing the sleeping bag with the two of us in it.
"May you have pleasant dreams Jenavee."
"As well as you Donovin. Good night." I lowered my head and kissed her on her forehead before laying my head next to her on the pillow and draping my right arm over her.
I awoke some time in the middle of the night to the sound of something whimpering. I slowly opened my eyes and saw that Jenavee was right next to my face. I slowly kissed her forehead again and slowly got out of the sleeping bag. I had to admit, getting out of a sleeping bag without waking the person sharing it with you is quite a challenge. As quietly as I could I slipped into a pair of pants and shoes then went outside. Once outside the tent I could hear the whimpering coming from somewhere off in the distance.
The sound was coming from the town, so I stuck my head back into the tent and saw that Jenavee was still sleeping. I didn't want to have her worry so I took some sticks from outside and put them into an arrow that pointed towards the town. After I grabbed my shirt and my sword I started to head towards the town. Along the way I pulled my shirt on and strapped my sword to my hip. It didn't take me long until I reached the town.
I stopped at the edge of the town and when I heard the whimpering, it sounded like it was coming from a few streets down. I looked around and the streets were totally empty of life and the only light that could be seen was from a single off white street lamp a little ways down the street. So following the sound I quickly made my way towards the sound while keeping in the shadows. After a few streets I stopped to the entrance to an alleyway.
"You worthless bitch! How could you lose to such a weakling. I practically handed you that victory and you still messed it up." Just then I heard a yelp and then something flew out of an ally and land in the middle of the street. I quickly ran over to where I saw whatever it was land. Their was something curled up in the fetal position and clutching at its stomach. I couldn't really see what this thing was but I placed my left hand on the thing and the other on the hilt of my blade. So if need be I could protect whatever this thing was.
"Go and die. That's all you are good for now." I heard some sort of snapping sound, then pieces of a pokeball flew out of the ally and landed in-between me and the ally. The items turned out to be the top and bottom half of a Poke-ball. So I guess whatever this thing is, it's a Pokemon. With that I heard the sound of turning gravel and steps that led away down the alley. I looked down and I saw that whatever this thing was it was very small and shaking like a leaf.
"Easy their little one. You don't have anything to fear any more. I will take good care of you." The thing slowly stop shaking. I lightly rubbed the thing and realized that whatever this thing was it had soft short fur. Man I really wish I could see what type of Pokemon this was, but I couldn't since I had left my pokedex back in the tent with the rest of my gear.
Then I felt something wet under my hand and I lifted it up into the dim light and saw that it was covered in some kind of liquid. Did this thing just lick my hand? Then my eyes adjusted to the little light a little more and I realized that the liquid that I felt had a sort of reddish tint to it. Wait a minute if it was a liquid and it had a red color to it could only be one thing. BLOOD.
"I am so sorry little one. If I had known that you were hurt I would have gotten you fixed up sooner." I slowly picked up the little thing and realized that it was just about the size of a small dog. The thing struggled a little when I picked it up but after I had pulled it into a tight hug the thing stopped struggling. "Just relax little one. I am going to get you fixed up and back on your feet in no-time." The thing looked up at me and nodded. It lowered it's head to rest on my arm then closed it's eyes.
Like my feet had their own set of wings I quickly ran back to my tent. I arrived a little later and saw Jenavee standing next to the tent with a look of worry on her face as she looked left then right with her hands clasped to her chest. I guess she had woken up and started to worry when I wasn't there.
"I was wondering where you went off to. It seemed that you were out picking up a new friend." I nodded then took a knee so she could see what I had in my arms. She leaned forward looking closely at what I was carrying. She gasped then took a step or two back. "What are you doing with an injured Pokemon?"
"I woke up to the sounds of some kind of whimpering." I quickly explained about the sound, the trainer, and such. "So I picked it up and took him here so I could see to its wounds." So I removed my shirt and after placing it on the ground I set the Pokemon on top of it. Jenavee nodded and turned around and headed back into the tent, then returned with my first aid kit and a flashlight. I took the first aid kit and opened it and Jenavee turned on the flashlight then aimed it on the Pokemon.
"Um Donovin do you know what type of Pokemon it is?"
"No. Why?" After taking a quick glance at her I looked down at the Pokemon. The Pokemon that was in the light was laying on its side. Just as I had thought. It was some sort of dog but then again it wasn't. This thing was a little different. I noticed that this dog was a little bigger than the average pup, it had blue and black fur all over it's body, its hips seemed to bulge out like they were double jointed and it looked like it had two sets of ears, one set on the top of its head and the other behind its eyes. I also noticed that it seemed to have some sort of gold band around it's neck, probably for identification. Whatever this thing was, it was no dog that I'd ever seen before.
"Jenavee could you go inside the tent and find my pokedex for me." She nodded and went back into the tent as I turned my attention back to this Pokemon.
"Well whatever you are, your hurt and that is what needs to be attended to." So I turned back to the first aid kit and started to fix up this Pokemon. A few moments later I had the bleeding stopped and started working on the bandages when Jenavee came out with my pokedex.
"I am sorry, it took me a few minutes to find it. Well it would seem you were able to patch up that thing. Well here it is." I gave her a look of what did she mean by that. She just shrugged and I flipped upon the pokedex and hit the scanner button.
"Riolu the fighting type Pokemon. The aura that emanates from its body intensifies to alert others if it is afraid or sad." I closed the pokedex and put it away into my back pocket. I lightly reached down and rubbed the little Riolu's head. The Riolu smiled up at me and slowly opened its eyes.
"Well hello Riolu, are you feeling any better?" The Riolu nodded and I patted its head. It gave a small bark when I did this. At first I didn't know what to make of this bark but when I looked into its eyes and saw that it had no ill intent towards me, I started to scratch it behind its upper ears and it leaned into my scratching. "Well I guess the first thing we should do Jenavee is get this Riolu to a Pokemon center and get it healed by a proper doctor."
"You do mean her right?" She gave me a stern look and my eyes opened a little wider.
"You mean its a girl." She nodded. "Well then I guess that we should get HER to a Pokemon center and get HER fixed up by a proper doctor." So in the middle of the night I quickly broke down camp with Jenavee's help and after we were packed up I shouldered my pack and placed Jenavee on my shoulder and picked up the Riolu and held her in my arms. I held her close to my chest as she seemed to enjoy it there since she snuggled into my chest a little. With everything packed up and ready, we all headed back to the Pokemon center.Chapter End Notes:Disclaimer: All publicly recognizable characters, settings, etc. are the property of their respective owners.
