Chapter 2
Ch. 2
As I was turning back towards the tree I turned my head to look at the trainer and said.
"Don't worry I will give your pokeballs to the nearest Pokemon center." With that I tossed his belt of pokeballs over my shoulder and started back to the tree where I had left the injured Ralts. It took me a little while to return to the tree but eventually I found it. Once there I climbed up the trunk and into the tree. Once I reached the branch where I had left the injured Ralts I could see that it was breathing a little easier. Seeing that I let out a sigh of relief.
It looked like the Ralts was going to make it. Once I got next to the Ralts I knelt down and lightly put the back of my palm against the Ralts forehead to check for a fever. As it turned out it did have one. So I slowly picked up the Ralts and pulled it into a close hug as I jumped to the ground and started looking around. 'Ok, now I have to find somewhere to get this Ralts healed.' Then an small angelic voice spoke in the back of my mind saying that I needed to head towards the setting sun.
I looked around then I felt something stir in my arms and looked down to see the Ralts move around. I said.
"Is that you that just spoke to me little one?" The Ralts nodded, and I smiled down at it and said.
"Ok then West it is then." With that I hugged the Ralts a little closer to my chest and started running. It took me about 15 minutes of constant running until I reached the edge of the woods and the path descended. I took a quick glance at the Ralts to see how it was doing and it was starting to sweat. Then the voice spoke into my mind again and said to look for a building with a giant P on the top of it. So I nodded and started running again. Since I was on top of a hill looking down upon the small city I could see all the buildings, including the one in the center with the giant P on the top. With that I ran to the Pokemon center. After running through the town I arrived at the Pokemon center and quickly headed through the double door that I hoped was it's front doors.
Behind a crescent shaped desk sat a nurse that had pink hair and a white gown on. I quickly ran up to her panting and said.
"Please nurse, this Ralts desperately needs your help." The nurse didn't say a word to me, but quickly called into her microphone for a small gurney. A second later a large, fat, pink, creature came out of a set of double doors pushing a rolling gurney. I took a step back as the pink creature headed strait for me, just stopping a few steps away from me and said.
"Chansey."
I didn't move for a few seconds but then the nurse came around her desk and nodded to me. So I carefully placed the Ralts on the gurney. Before the big creature took the Ralts away I placed my hand on the Ralts forehead and said.
"Don't worry Ralts, I'll be right here waiting until you get out."
With that, the Chansey turned the gurney around and pushed it back through the double doors. The nurse turned and followed the Chansey through the double doors. Once they were both gone I started look around. As it turned out this building looked a lot like an emergency waiting room. So I walked over to a set of chairs near the double doors and sat down. As I waited I noticed that there was a red light above the double doors with a white syringe in the middle of it.
While I was waiting I couldn't stop looking up at the syringe sign. I guess I waited for about fifteen minutes until I got up and looked through the window in one of the double doors. Just a little way down the hallway I could see through a window, and through that window I could see the Ralts hooked up to several machines and an air mask over it's mouth. So I turned around and sat back down. I couldn't believe it. I was in the world of Pokemon, but the only thing that kept running through my mind was how in the name of the almighty did I end up here?
Then my mind struck onto a string of thoughts. I looked down at my hands and thought that this was a dream come true. I was actually in the Pokemon world, which meant that if I wanted to enjoy this dream to its fullest I needed to act and think like a new trainer. So for the next several minutes I thought up a story that I would hope would fool even the most psychic of Pokemon and people. So for the next several minutes I ran over the story of my fake past again and again. Finally the light over the double doors went out and the nurse came out.
"Well It was a little touch and go there for a while, but it seems that your Ralts will make a full recovery."
"Well I would love to say that the Ralts is mine, but I am not that Pokemon's owner."
The nurse just looked at me for a while and I nodded.
"You see, I was the person who rescued that Ralts from this trainer who seemed to be beating that little guy..." The nurse held up her hand as to stop me from talking.
"I am sorry sir but the Ralts that you brought in isn't a male, its female."
I just stared at her for a while, then I continued.
"Her. So I stepped in and took matters into my own hands. Once I had stopped his Mightyena from attacking her, I taught that trainer the consequences of doing that." I pulled off the belt with his pokeballs on it from my back and handed it to her. "If you could give this to the police I would appreciate it."
She just stared at me and asked.
"So let me get this strait. You beet up a fellow trainer and stole his pokeballs and Pokemon?"
"No I beet him up so he wouldn't send another Pokemon to try and attack me."
Her eyes went wide when I told her this but she nodded and said.
"Well I came out to tell that the Ralts that you brought in is going to be fine, but she will need at least a day of rest before she should be released."
So I thanked her and asked where I could stay and find some work. She gave a questioning look and said.
"Well you can help me here in the Pokemon center to earn your keep."
So I happily accepted and followed the nurse into the back to help out with her duties. Though I did help her out with many of her duties, I would steal myself away to look in on the Ralts now and again. After a few hours of cleaning up the center and restocking the supplies in several of the rooms the nurse informed me the Ralts was starting to wake up. So I quickly ran over to the room where the Ralts was recovering and saw that it was true.
I looked back at the nurse and she nodded. So I slowly pushed open the door to the room and walked inside. The small Ralts looked like it was sleeping until I had sat down in a chair that was next to the bed. She slowly opened her green eyes and turned to look at me and smiled.
"Well there little one, you gave me quite a scare there."
"I am sorry about that, I didn't mean to cause you to worry." I smiled and said.
"That is quite alright, wait a minute you can understand me?"
"Well of course I can understand you. Many of us psychic Pokemon can understand and speak to you humans by using our psychic powers."
I should have known. Though I didn't know how far their psychic powers went.
"Well I am glad that you are feeling better. The nurse tells me that you will be able to leave in a few days. So why don't you lye down again and get some rest." So I stood up and gave her a smile and started to leave.
"Please wait."
So I stopped and turned around to face her again and looked at her.
"Yes?"
"Aren't you going to capture me, like that other human?"
"I would never do that to you. What that other person did was sick and wrong and he has paid for what he has done to you."
"What do you mean he paid for what he did?" Within her voice I could detect a hint of fear.
"You don't kneed to worry, I relieved him of his pokeballs and handed them over to the police. So whatever happens to him at this point, it's up to the police."
She smiled and nodded. Then she put her head back down on the pillow.
"Then may I ask you something?"
"Sure."
I sat back down in the chair and waited for her to ask her question.
"Why did you save me? You could have just kept on walking and ignored my cries for help."
I stood up and said.
"What are you kidding me? Why in the name of Mew would I do such a selfish thing as to ignore a cry for help?"
This took her back a ways as she seemed to cringe back into her bed.
"Oh, I am sorry that I yelled at you. When I saw that trainer hurting you like that, I couldn't just stand there and let that happen. So I took matter into my own hands and stopped him, as well as his Mightyena."
"Wait a minute, you mean to say that you took on that Mightyena all by yourself? How?"
I smiled and said.
"You aren't the only one with some fighting skill. But that is another story. Now why don't you get some sleep and I will see you in the morning." So I walked over to her and pulled the covers up to her neck and gave her a smile and started to leave.
"Please wait. Would you stay until I fall asleep."
So I nodded and sat back down in the chair and watched her until she fell asleep. Just as she fell asleep I did the same in the hard chair. My last thoughts were, 'man this is turning out to be one heck of an adventure and man I was going to be sore from sleeping in this chair in the morning'.
I awoke the next morning a little warmer than I would have thought. I smiled and snuggled a little deeper into the warmth. Then something shifted in my lap. When I opened my eyes I didn't see the Ralts in the bed, which started to get me worried until I tried to get up. I noticed that there was something in my lap.
So I looked down and saw the small Ralts laying with her head on my chest. I smiled and lightly stroked her hair. She smiled and snuggled a little deeper into my chest and said.
"Well good morning."
"What's the matter there little one? That bed not comfortable enough for you?"
She slowly raised her head to look at me and asked.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
"Do you have any Pokemon yourself?"
"No, I just set out for a small journey a little while ago and from where I come from there are no Pokemon."
"How can that be? We are all over the world."
I just smiled and said.
"Well I guess that if you are well enough to argue, then I guess that you are well enough to get up."
So I slowly picked her up like I would a baby and stood.
"Are you hungry?" She nodded and I took her down to the nurse. I found her at her usual desk and slowly walked up to her. When I was a few feet away from the desk I could see that she was looking at a magazine but I couldn't see what it was about. So I stepped a little louder as to not scare her if she were to look up and suddenly see me.
She closed her magazine and looked up. I said.
"I wish to thank you nurse Joy for all your help." She smiled and said.
"Well it would seem that the Ralts that you brought in is doing a lot better. I was wondering where you had gotten off to, but when I went to look in on the Ralts I could see the both of you fast asleep."
The Ralts happily nodded and I said.
"Yes she is doing better but I would like to ask if we might get a something to eat?"
The nurse giggled and nodded and led us into a large room that had several tables in it. I set the Ralts down at a table then sat down next to her. Within a few moments nurse Joy brought in a plate of eggs and toast for me and a small plate of Pokemon chow for her. So we happily ate our food and once we finished I took our plate on over to the sink and washed our plates then placed them on what looked like a drying rack to dry. Once I was done I walked back to the Ralts and asked.
"So now that we are fully rested and fed we can get out of here." She stood up and held her arms open like she wanted a hug so I picked her up and placed her on my right shoulder. With her on my right shoulder we headed back to the entrance. Once there I thanked the nurse for all her help and Ralts waved at her from my shoulder. She smiled and we walked out. When we were a good distance away from the Pokemon Center I started heading towards the forest.
A little ways into the forest the Ralts asked.
"So where are we going?"
"Only a little farther then I am going to let you get back to your friends and family."
"Wait a moment. You are going to let me go. Aren't you going to capture me?"
"Now why should I do such a selfish thing ? I have just started out on my journey and though I would welcome your company I must do what is right."
"Never before have I met a human that has put a Pokemon before their own wants and needs. Well then I have a little request." A small blush appeared on her cheeks.
"Well if it is within my power I will try and make it happen." She smiled and said.
"I don't really have anywhere else that I need to be so I was wondering if I could possibly. I I I would like to join you on your journey." The last part came out in a hurry but I smiled and slowly reached up and placed my right hand on her cheek and nodded.
"Now how could I say no to you." She happily started bouncing up and down with glee. "Well I guess the only thing that I need to do now is find out where I can be registered as a Pokemon trainer."
"Wait a minute, you are not even a trainer?"
"Well no. Like I said before, I have just recently left my home to find my way in the world. And since I now have you by my side I guess that decision has been made for me. I'm going to be a Pokemon trainer."
So I returned back to the town and started asking around for where I could register to become a Pokemon trainer. After asking around for an hour a nice old man pointed me to a large building the edge of town and said to ask for a professor Trent. So I walked on over to the building that the old man had pointed me to and found that there was a large line of people ranging from what looked like 10 to 15 years of age. I walked on up to a young kid who looked to be around 10 and that was at the end of the line and asked.
"What's with the line, little man?" The kid turned and replied.
"Well mister this is the line for kids that are ready to start their Pokemon journey, but there seems to be some sort of mix up." I nodded. I looked up and could see that there was a pretty big line.
"Well then I guess I will go right on up to this guys place and ask what the problem seems to be and come back and tell you."
"Really mister? That would be really nice of you. Wait a minute, are you here to register yourself as a trainer as well?"
"Well ya, where else can I go and register?" The kid just looked a little happy, so I waved to him as I headed up the hill that led to this guys home. As I headed up to the lab several of the other younger kids gave me a look of anger mixed with awe. Since on-top of my shoulder was my newest companion and one that many trainers would love to get their hands on. Once I got up to the top of the hill there was a man in a white lab coat trying to turn other kids away saying.
"Look I am sorry but at this time we don't have any way of getting you started on your journey. The professor doesn't have any starter Pokemon at this time So when he is able to get some he will send out notices." So I walked on up to him and he said.
"I am sorry sir, but like I just told these kids just now, we can't give you a starter Pokemon at this time.."
"Well, I don't really need a starter since I have my little friend here." I nodded to the Ralts sitting on my shoulder and she waved to the man.
"Well now that's different. Please come with me." He turned around and using a key he pulled out of his lab coat, he unlocked the door and led me into the building.Chapter End Notes:Disclaimer: All publicly recognizable characters, settings, etc. are the property of their respective owners.
