Chapter 33

Journey to Another World 3
Ch. 3

Though he didn't really shout. It was actually his voice echoing off the walls that seemed to travel on forever. Either side of the walkway was lined with what looked like glass enclosures that were filled with lush and plentiful vegetation in the back of the enclosure. But in the front of the thing there seemed to be a pile of moss that probably acted like a makeshift bed for the Pokemon.

"As you can see, I take a great pride in my enclosures." As I walked up to the glass and took a closer look into the first enclosure. There didn't seem to be any Pokemon in this one, but the overall look of the thing did impress me. "Though this enclosure is empty at the moment, it will soon house a Nidoqueen and a Nidoking." And just as he had said, two doors that I hadn't previously seen opened up on either side of the enclosure.

From the right came in the Nidoking. He as a massive brute that looked like an smaller version of a T-Rex, had purple skin with a silver looking stomach, and spikes nearly all over it's body. Looking to the left I could see the Nidoqueen making her entrance. She looked almost exactly like the king, only she was blue in color, with what looked like two sliver plates on her upper chest, and no spikes.

Turning to the man I gave him a questioning look. "I know this might sound like a silly question but can't they see us." As I pointed to the two large Pokemon who were now staring to cuddle up to each other.

"Of course not." He tapped on the glass as he looked at me. "This is one way glass. That way, I can monitor if things are going alright in the enclosure. So that way the Pokemon will believe that they have total privacy, but I'll be able to step in if things are getting a little out of hand." As if on cue the Nidoking let out a mighty roar drawing our attention back to the enclosure. "Damn it, not again." Just then he stepped over to the side of the glass wall and hit a button.

Looking into the enclosure I could see that the Nidoking had forced the Nidoqueen to the floor with one of his massive paws and lifting the tail of the Nidoqueen with the other. The Queen was obviously not enjoying it's treatment and was struggling against the Kings obvious show of dominance over it. As if saying that the Queen should feel grateful that it should receive this blessing form the King.

Then a haze of some kind started to descend from somewhere in the ceiling. Once the haze had started to reach the two Pokemon, something weird start to take effect. At first the powder didn't seem to be doing anything, but then I could see the King's eyes start to droop, then he fell to the ground unconscious.

"And if things get out of hand, I just use a controlled amount of sleep powder and the occupants will simply pass out." He turned away from the enclosure and motioned for us to follow him again. "This way please." As we continued to go along the long corridor each of the enclosures we passed had a different environment. Most were like the first, but others had deserts, rocky mountains, water or islands, and the most interesting was ice enclosure since it reminded me the most of the Canadian Rockies in the winter.

As we seemed to be nearing the end of the corridor I noticed that the enclosures took on a grassy plain feel again. I stopped at the last enclosure that seemed to be in here and saw something that seemed to take my breath away. Sitting in on it's haunches was a shiny Ninetails. The silver like fox sat in the middle of the field with all it's blue tipped tails waving behind it like a set of peacock feathers. It seemed like there was a fan below it's tails since the tails seemed to have a life of their own as they waved back and forth.

"Ah, I see that you've found my beauty. It took me quite a bit of finagling and bartering with a certain trainer to get my hands on this rare beast." He placed a hand on the glass and rubbed it. As if on cue as well, the Ninetails quickly leapt to it's feet and took on a fighting stance, lowered it's head, and started to growl. It was easy to see that something had disturbed the Pokemon greatly. 'But what could it be?' I thought. 'This glass is only one way. Could it be that this Pokemon could tell what's beyond the glass?' Just as if on cue again, the Pokemon quickly leapt forward and slammed it's shoulder into the glass making all three of us jump back. Then repeated when he got close to the glass again.

"Damn bitch! You've always been a handful." Quickly reaching over he was about to hit the button of the sleep powder again when the Ninetails slowly backed away from the glass, still growling with it's head lowered. I looked from the Pokemon to him and saw him smirk. "I don't know how you know that I'm always out here, but you always know when your about to get a dose of sleep powder." His smirk turned into an evil grin.

He turned back to us. "I'm sorry about that. Ever since the trainer that left that girl here, she's never come to terms with her situation here." He looked back to the glass. "And I would almost swear that she has some kind of psychic abilities. Since she'll do that every time I come close to the glass of her enclosure." He lowered his head and shook it. "She's even refused to take a mate. No matter what or who I send in there." He turned and motioned for us to follow him again.

But just as the two of us were about to follow him I felt a pang of sorrow for the Ninetails and walked up to the glass and placed my hand on it. Looking into the glass I could see the girl was still in a fighting stance but it seemed to calm down quite a bit as I stood there. Then to shock me even more, it calmed down entirely and walked up to the glass, as if almost in a drunken state. Once she was right in front of the glass she proceeded to lick the glass where my hand was placed against it. Then began to croon as she proceeded to rub against the glass, like a cat would against your leg.

"This way please sir." I heard the man call from down a ways. So giving the glass a quick rub I began to follow the man, only to hear a whine come from behind me as I left the Ninetails behind.

As I caught up to him he continued to give me a lecture on his breeding enclosures. Obviously very proud of his work over the years. He told me about the massive solar panels and wind turbines that powered this place, about how he had come by all these different Pokemon over the years, etc. "And finally we come to your Lucario's enclosure." Looking through the glass, I could see that like the Ninetails, this enclosure was based like an open grassy plain. "It took a bit of work, but after some fine negotiating with some other trainers, I was able to get my hands on a male Lucario."

Walking over to the same panel as the one with the sleep powder, he flipped a different switch and a door opened up on the left side of the field. At first nothing happened or came out, but after a few moments the head of a Lucario began to emerge out of the door. With another few moments the Lucario had fully entered the room and was now looking around.

"And this is the Lucario that your Lucario will sate it's heat with." As if saying that this was like her prize for winning some kind of game show.

Looking down at Rena, I could see that she was feeling very uncomfortable about the situation and was shivering against my arm. Or was it her heat kicking up at seeing another Lucario or Lucario male? Either way I pulled her off my arm hand brought her around to my front.

"You don't need to be nervous Rena. This Lucario will be able to help you get over your heat and make you feel much better." To which she looked at the Lucario then back to me, only to shake her head. Taking a deep sigh I shook my head and led her through the door that the man had opened for us. "I'm sorry Rena, but this is for your own good." Once I had pushed her into the room she quickly turned and latched onto my arm again, shaking her head up at me.

Kneeling down so that I was looking up at her, I took both her paws in my hands and looked up at her. "Rena. You need to understand that this Lucario will help you get through your pain. This is something that I can't help you with. Only this Lucario can help you." I let go of her hands and brought her into a tight hug as I rested her head on my left shoulder. "I just wish that there was some other way to help you." I whispered into her ear, then kissed her on her cheek. So letting go of her, I stood up and walked out of the room and the man slowly closed the door.

Just as the door closed I heard something hit the glass. I turned around and saw Rena plastering herself against the door. She seemed to be trying to say something as the tears started to build in her eyes. The look in her eyes would tear at any persons heart.

"I'm...s...sorry." Turing away from those heart ache eyes I quickly ran down the hall. 'It's all for the better. It's going to make her better.' I repeated to myself over and over again. As this time it was tears in my eyes that fell to the floor.

Back at the enclosure Rena's paws slowly slid down the glass, and the tears started to freely flow. "But...I. It's not the heat Donovin. I LOVE YOU!"
