Chapter 36
Journey to Another World 3
Ch. 6
"Well it's about time you showed up." The breeder said as he awaited for me at the entrance to the center tapping his foot in impatience. The boy had changed into some regular clothes. He was wearing a pair of black pants, with a red shirt that had the outline of a Pokeball design in black on the front, then some kind of silver lined black hat that he wore backwards. "I was beginning to wonder if you were going to hold up your end of the bargain." He held up a watch that was somewhat bigger than and average one in our world, due to how bulky it was.
"I can understand your impatience but you need to understand that I'm doing this out the kindness of my heart." To which caused him to stop tapping his foot and drop his arm that had the watch. "I could just as easily not bother telling you where your Pokemon are, and be on my merry way. Without so much as a glance back over my shoulder."
This caused the boy to stop his impatient attitude right then and there. "But you said..."
"I know what I said. It's just that you need to take other peoples situations into mind." It was often a time when I would be thought of as a lazy person, when I wasn't. "For instance, I was out getting to know my new friend Kit."
A questioning look appeared on his face. "Kit? Who's that?" As he did a small impression of the thinking man, with his fist under his chin. "Oh wait a minute...You mean that Ninetails that followed you out of my lab." To which I smirked.
"Your ex lab right. And ya that's right. I just named her and she was gracious enough to allow me to catch her." As I pulled her ball off my belt and showed it to him.
"Well she did seem quite taken with you." He said as he looked at the ball. "Though I have no idea why."
"Now that your calmed down a bit, I think it's time to return your Pokemon to you." To which his eyes lit up and he quickly turned and rushed into the center. I shook my head and slowly followed after him 'He needs to slow down and enjoy things. Otherwise he's going to rush through his life as well as his training career without any good memories with his Pokemon.'
I found him sitting in front a set of what looked like pay phones with a screen imbedded in the top, and a Pokeball that had been split in two with a small gap between the two and wires attached to the both of them. He picked up the phone that was sitting on top of the device and turned to me.
"Come on already. Tell me what town you dropped my Pokemon off at." He said as he drummed his fingers on the devices key pad.
"Dang your impatient." I told him as I walked over and sat down on the next barstool next to his. "I don't really recall the town where I dropped your Pokemon off at, but I do seem to recall that it was somewhere to the West of where we had our little skirmish." To which he looked up to the ceiling lost in thought.
"To the West of where we what?" He turned to me and looked with a confused expression on his face.
"Where we fought, Mr. impatient."
"Oh right." Just then he turned and looked at the screen. "And what was the name of that stupid town again..." He though for a moment. "Oh right. It was Sandgem town." So using the key pad on the thing he punched in a set of numbers and...
"Please be patient while the other party is reached..." The screen said while it showed a phone with a line that had a bubble going from one end to the other that was off the screen.
Then the screen turned on and a nurse Joy was there on the other end of the line with a headset on. "Thank you for calling Sandgem town Pokemon center. This is nurse Joy speaking. How might I be of assistance..." She said in a telemarketer tone.
"Hi nurse Joy. My name is Robby and I would like you to transfer some Pokemon from your center to here."
The nurse nodded and started to look off the screen at probably another computer. After a few minutes she looked back at the screen, "I'm not seeing a name like that in our database. Are you sure that you left some Pokemon at this center."
Robby looked over at me with a pissed off look, and I could just see tell what was coming. "Now before you do something that you might regret Rob-by. You need to remember that I didn't know your name when I dropped off your Pokemon at that center." So I gave him a small shove and he got out of the chair. To which I took and picked up the phone. "Hello nurse Joy. I would like to transfer some Pokemon that I left there with you."
She nodded, "And what's your name?"
"I didn't leave the Pokemon there under a name." She gave me a strange look. "I was the young man that was attacked by a Pokemon and gave you some balls to hold on to."
Her eyes lit up. "Wait a minute. Your telling me that you want those Pokemon returned to...!"
"Ya that's right." I looked over at the kid sitting next to me and gave him a thumbs up. "I've gotten the chance to talk to him and have decided that a man needs to have a second chance if he's to accomplish great things. Because we often misstep on the first try." Looking back to the nurse I could see that she had a sweet smile on her face.
"If the person who's attacked can forgive the attacker for the wrongs, then I guess it's ok." She stood up. "It's going to take me a minute or two to find them in the back. So I'll be right back." We waited for about ten or twenty minutes before she took her seat again. "Well it's been a while, but I'm back with the balls, and am ready to transfer them to where you are. So if you could put the young man back on the phone then we can get him his Pokemon back."
The whole process didn't take more than fifteen minutes, as each ball materialized with a flash of lightning between the two split balls. "I can't believe that I've got my Pokemon back. I've got to go outside and reacquaint myself with my Pokemon." So taking his balls I watched him run outside and release all his Pokemon. Once they were all out of their balls the proceeded to tackle the boy to the ground and started to snuggle with him or lick him.
He had of course a Mighyena, as well as a Flygon, and to my surprise a Lapras. Now if you can imagine all three trying to push the other away, and get in a snuggle at their long separated trainer, you'd be laughing too.
I watched this for a while but then my heart began to sink as I recalled the reason why I'd gone to see the boy in the first place. Unclipping the ball and looking down at Rena's ball. 'Now that that breeder is no longer a breeder, I need to figure out a way to help Rena through her heat.'
Eventually a hand landed on my shoulder. "A penny for your thoughts." Robby said as he patted me on the shoulder and sat down next to me in the same chair that I'd pushed him out of before.
I didn't say anything to him for a while. "I was just worried about my Lucario." I looked up from the ball to meet his gaze. "I don't suppose that you know of any other breeders in the area?"
The boy looked up to the ceiling and put a finger on his chin. "Let me think..." He thought for a few minutes. "Sorry but I just don't know of any. Since I'm the one that practically everyone around these parts brings there Pokemon too when their in trouble, like your Lucario is." He looked back at me. "Mostly it was Team Galactic that kept all the other breeders away."
Which peaked my interest. He went on to say that when an un-expecting trainer would come around and bring in a rare Pokemon to him to hopefully breed, he would contact Team Galactic and they would take that Pokemon away. And to make sure that the trainers would come only to him for that service, they would often go out and remove any other breeders that were planning to set up shop somewhere nearby.
----------------------------------
Later that evening I sat on a bed in a new room at the Pokemon center and relayed what the boy had told me to Jenavee, as well as the events of what transpired down in his lab.
"So what your saying is that there is no hope for Rena. None at all." She said in a hurtful tone. It was obvious that she was mad at me for not helping her with her heat when we were at the breeders. "But seeing as to what you have told me about happened down there, I guess I can understand why you did not want her to go through with it." She sat down next to me and rubbed my back.
Being a Gardevoir, she could pick up on my feelings. And at that moment I was hurting with the knowledge of how much suffering Rena was in, at that moment. Now that there was no other Pokemon out there that I could trust Rena too. My only option would be to get some wild male Pokemon and hope for the best.
"I'm not happy about the situation either Jenavee. But what choice do we really have?" I looked over to her, to which she visibly flinched as she saw the tears build up in my red eyes. "It's either do this, or she will have to suffer through her heat until it passes. And Mew only knows what that's going to do to her."
The two of us just sat there on the end of the bed for quite a while, not talking or anything. Then all of a sudden we were brought back to reality by the sound of Jenavee's stomach growling. She placed her right hand behind her head and laughed. "I guess it has been a while since the last time I ate. How about I go downstairs and get the three of us something to eat, while you...get yourself cleaned up." She stood up and slowly walked towards the door, but stopped before she stepped through and looked over her shoulder at me.
"Though while I am gone, I think it would be best if you went and took a shower." She said as she reached up and pinched where I thought her nose was. (Can you spot a Gardevoir's nose in any regular picture? Didn't think so.) Which got me to smirk and nod to her as she turned and closed the door after her.
After digging through my cloths I picked out my old Renaissance cloths and laughed. 'I haven't worn these things in quite a while. I think I'll wear these once I get out of the shower.' Once that was settled I pulled off Rena's and Jenavee's balls and placed them on the night stand, I got undressed while tossing my dirty cloths over my shoulder. Then headed into the bathroom. Not knowing or for that matter, caring at that moment where they landed.
While I waited for the shower to warm up, I walked over to the hanging mirror over the sink and looked at my reflection. The face that stared back at me was a long greasy haired, scary red eyed, unshaven, mess. I was going to have to find a hair cut place soon and get myself cleaned up. By that time the edges of the mirror had begun to fog up and I turned to enter the shower stall.
The glass was fully fogged up now and when I opened the door to the shower, a large amount of steam billowed out. 'I don't remember turning the shower on that hot. Or was it really that cold in here?' Reaching into the shower I tried to feel around for the shower knob to turn the shower down, only to feel something else. 'Did I put a washcloth in there?'
Looking over to the towel rack I could still see that I hadn't, since there wasn't any on there to begin with. Just then something grabbed my wrist and yanked me into the foggy shower stall, and the door to the stall closed after me.
