Chapter 41

Journey to Another World 3
Ch. 11

Rena fell to one knee and was panting quite heavily. The battle between her and the Mightyena had greatly taken it's toll. Much of her body was covered in bruises, scrapes, puncture marks from bite attacks, and such. Though that was not to say that the Mightyena was fairing any better. As it too was on it's last legs, so to speak.

Both looked to be about ready to drop to the floor, in complete exhaustion. 'Rena, would you stop this already. You've done enough.' I thought out to her. Even through our mental link that I was using to coach her through the battle, we still were not enough to best his high level Mightyena.

"N...no. Not." Pant pant. She winced then fell to her other knee. "Not yet. I...I can still fight." She said as she tried to stand. Only to fall to one knee.

"You see, that's enough." I said out loud. "Your exhausted, you can't even stand, and if you were to continue you'd only get hurt more." I waved to the man on the other side of the field. He gave me a quick nod and pulled out his ball for his Mightyena-Fenrear. I walked onto the field and picked her up again like I was carrying her over a threshold.

"Wait...what are you doing." She pounded on my chest and struggle in my arms. "Put me down. I can still fight." To which she pounded on my chest a little harder and wiggled more.

"I'm sure that you could." I winced as one of her punches hit a little hard. "But, you need to realize that your nearly exhausted. You fought wonderfully out there, and I have to say that you even surprised me that you were able to hold your own against such a high level Pokemon."

She looked innocently into my eyes. "Really?" She asked me as she drew out the word. "Did I really do a good job?"

To which I couldn't help but smirk. "Of course you did." I replied as I set her down on a large patch of grass a little farther away from the battle field. "If the two of you had been a little closer in level, I know that you would've wiped the floor with him." Which caused her to grab onto my neck before I could stand up, and gave me a secretive peck on the cheek. I couldn't help but blush at the act.

"Thanks. Now go call out my sister and whoop him good." She whispered into my ear then released me.

"You bet. And while were doing that, you can relax here and enjoy the show." I told her as I clenched my fist, then quickly returned to the trainers square. Where Jenavee was awaiting her turn patiently. I looked onto the field and could see that the Mightyena had been recalled and he was tapping his foot, awaiting my return to the field.

'You know I saw that from here right?' She said in a rhetorical fashion. Then was about to float onto the field when I held her back. "What's the big idea? I thought it was my turn to go out there and take on our next opponent." But I didn't answer her right away. 'Hay, what has gotten into you.' She said to me, only to shut up when she saw how intently I was watching our opponent.

The man across the field was just smiling as he held out his next ball. 'He's up to something. I can just feel it.' And sure enough, he threw out his ball and out erupted his Flygon. The desert dragon took a few flying circles around the battle field then hovered across the field and awaited it's opponent.

"I knew that if I sent out my Lapras that you'd make quick work out of it with your Gardevoir's electric attacks. So I decided to make this battle a little interesting."

'Shit. How'd he know that Jenavee knew some electric attacks?' I thought for a quick second, but didn't have a third as Jenavee took the field.

"It does not matter what type of Pokemon that you throw against me and my master." She said mentally to the five of us. "Because we will not loose." She looked over her shoulder at me and smiled. 'Right Donovin.' She said privately to me, as she winked at me.

'Thanks Jenavee.' "That's right. Now it's time to really cut loose and show you what we can do."

"We'll see. Dusty use Sandstorm." And with that, things got interesting. The dragon swooped low to the field and quickly start to kick up a bunch of loose dirt and soil with it's feet. Which was blown into the storm by it's wings that were flapping at the same time, which made it swirl around the area. The sheer sound of the swirling junk pile was so loud I new that I wouldn't be able to shout my ideas to Jenavee.

'Jenavee! Close your eyes and get low.' I sent to her over the link. Just as she did, there was a rush of wind as I was pretty sure that that dragon had just tried to knock her down with it's wings. 'Must have just used Steel Wing attack on her.' I thought to myself.

'That was close.' She said mentally to me. 'But how am I supposed to fight like this?' She asked me.

'Simple. Instead of using your eyes to find out where your opponent is, use your psychic abilities to find it.'

'Brilliant. I knew there was a reason why I liked having you as my coach in battles. So, what is next?'

'Watch out. It is coming back around for another pass!' Rena shouted out in my mind. All of a sudden the whole world lost all it's color and took on this mystifying bluish color. With both Jenavee and the Flygon's outlines in a deeper blue than everything else.

I didn't have time to give Jenavee a command as the change in vision took me by surprise. Allowing the Flygon to score with a Dragon Claw attack, which scored across her lower stomach.

"Youch! Donovin what is going on? I need you to tell me what I need to do!"

"RENA!" I shouted. "Stay out of this." And just like that, my vision returned to normal. "Jenavee. Use Double Team a few times to confuse the Flygon." And just like that things were in the clear for the moment, and I was able to concentrate on the battle again.

'What happened Donovin? You were about to tell me something, but you stopped right before you said anything. Did something just happen out there?'

'I'll tell you later Jenavee. Right now, we need to finish off that Flygon before your wounds get filled with to much of this junk.'

'Right. How do you think we should handle this? That Sandstorm is really making it hard for me to keep up the Double Team for that much longer.' She said in a bit of a strained voice.

"Got it. Jenavee, you know how you defeated that upper level Blazakin when you were a Kirlia?"

'Wha...Oh. Right. I understand. This over sized bug is going to be in a world of hurt in a moment.' And just like that, there was a large thump that was felt through the ground. Not so much an earthquake as that would cause the ground to shake, this was more of a throw you up off your feet sort of thump. Or like a single wave that went through the ground. This repeated several times until Jenavee came out of the storm, brushed off the remnants of the soil off herself, then stood beside me. With all the dirt that was on her, it kind of reminded me of when Rena was still a Riolu and had blasted that boulder apart.

"Wait a minute. What's going on here Jenavee? Why are you coming out of there?"

'To put it simply, the battles over.' As if there was a massive explosion of air in the middle of the field, the whole sand storm disappeared. Leaving a knocked out Flygon lying in one of many different sized craters scattered around the battle field. 'That dragon just would not stay down." She gave a huff. "So I had to repeat the process many times over, as you can plainly see.' I slowly looked over the field and just the sheer size and depth of some of those craters made me shiver.

'Definitely don't want to get on her bad side.' As some of the smoke was still drifting up from the holes.

'And do not forget it.' She said as she placed a hand on my shoulder. 'And here comes the overreaction.'

"DUSTY! Oh Mew! What has the over juiced psychic Pokemon done to you?" Robby said as he ran over from his trainers square to the knocked out Flygon. Once he was standing over his Pokemon, he fell to his knees and placed it's head on his lap. Then looked up at Jenavee with a dagger look in his eyes.

"Is it not my fault that he kept on doing the same thing over and over again. Only to result in me using the same move over and over again. You really need to come up with a better battle strategy than that."

"What does she mean by that!?" He looked at me and asked, with the same look in his eyes. "That move my Flygon used has worked countless times against other Pokemon."

I walked over to him and his Flygon and knelt down to place my hand on it's wing, then looked up at him. "Your Flygon, 'Dusty' doesn't look all that bad. So don't get all upset that that move didn't work on us."

"WHAT MOVE DID SHE USE!" He nearly shouted right into my ear. Then looked down at the passed out dragon. "What move or moves did she use that were so powerful, that they beat Dusty?" He said in an almost whisper as he stroked the Flygon's head.

"It wasn't really a move per-say. More like a redirection of force." He looked up at me, and I could see the frustration in his eyes.

"And what's that supposed to mean!"

I took a sigh and dropped my head, as Jenavee came over and placed a hand on my shoulder. 'It would seem that somebody else does not understand the fighting style that you taught me. Do you want me to tell it to him?"

I placed a hand on hers and shook my head. 'I think if you were to do that right now, he might loose it and sick his Lapras on us right now.' "Look." I said to him as he stopped staring at Jenavee, then looked at me. "It's quite simple. If your opponent is either stronger, faster, or smarter. Just use that against them. In this case, since Jenavee didn't have a direct line of sight to use her moves against Dusty here, she allowed him to use that wing attack over and over again. Once she'd gotten used to how he used that move against her, she simply stepped out of the way, used her psychic force to grab him, then using his own speed, she threw him into the ground. As you can see by the sheer numbers of the holes around here, it took quite a while for Dusty to pass out." 'Talk about not learning your lesson the first time.'

He looked back and forth between me and his Flygon a few times until he finally nodded. "Your Gardevoir used his flying ability against him." A deep sigh, then he looked up at me with a smile. "Well I guess that that truly makes us rivals now doesn't it?" To which I couldn't help but smirk and laugh a little.

Jenavee took a step forward, so that she was in front of me and knelt down as well. "I must say that your Flygon, 'Dusty' here, is quite strong. With a little more training, I think he will be a very good opponent one day." Then stood up, only to be caught in a hug from behind by me and a quick kiss to the cheek. She smiled and placed her hands over mine. "After all, that Sandstorm Attack was a great move to use." She said as I rocked her back and forth. "Just make sure not to use the same move in succession. Try and use it in new ways." Then she did something I wasn't expecting. She started to grind her hips back into mine.

Once we had gotten all of that out of our systems, the five of us headed back into the Pokemon Center so that the two of us could check in our Pokemon. Of course, Rena went into the back with the nurse to have her wounds looked into. Though Jenavee totally refused to be separated from me, which nearly set Rena off, but she knew that she needed to go back with the nurse to have her wounds treated. So while Rena went with nurse Joy, Jenavee stuck her tongue out and clung to me all the tighter.

'Oh great! Another power play by Jenavee.' I was about to tell her off when the nurse returned with a smile.

"I have to say that your Lucario was in a pretty bad shape."

"So what does that mean?" I asked her in a concerned tone.

"It means that your Lucario is going to be spending the night with us. I would like to ask for her ball so that the healing process will take less time." Nodding to her, I unclipped her ball and handed it to her. She gave me a quick bow then retreated to the back once again.

Turning to Jenavee I gave her a quick smile, "Well it looks like it's just going to be the two of us tonight."

To which she didn't say a word, but gently rubbed her hand up and down my arm, then gave me another quick peck on the cheek. 'I wouldn't have it any other way.'
