Chapter 5
Ch. 5
"What could the problem be? I thought that the police were here to take you off to your new job?"
"I don't think that is the real reason that they are here. Is it?" I gave her a long stair and she finally nodded. Fresh tears started and she seemed to be on the brink of wailing in tears.
"I am so sorry. I didn't want this to happen but I had no choice."
"What do you mean, you had no choice?" She looked me strait in the eye and said.
"You see if any trainer comes in here with a fair amount of skill or has a rare Pokemon then I am to alert the local authorities."
"Why?" I had to wait a little while because this time she did break down in tears.
"I have sent so many Pokemon and trainers to this group to be recruited to this organization that it just sickens me to know what this organization does."
"Wait a minute. Are you telling me that you are like a spotter for this group?"
"Spotter, stealer, you name it. When I saw you I new that you were just going to be another person that I would have to call in. But once I got to know you I regretted the call. Can you ever forgive me?" I thought back to all the kids waiting in line to get their starters. Thinking that this organization would eventually just snatch up these kids and train them to do who knows what.
She eventually stopped crying and looked back into my eyes. Looking for some kind of answer.
"Well since you told me the truth I believe that I could forgive you. Only if you do something for me."
"Anything."
"I need to find some way of convincing these guys that I don't have what it takes to become one of their new members."
"That's easy. All I have to do is tell them the truth. You only have a small weak Pokemon and your only skills are in the healing arts. If they don't believe me then when they challenge you all you have to do is lose." Just then the door busted in and five men in black shirts and matching bowler hats came charging in.
"Well it looks like the little play nurse spilled the beans. Now listen here you brat you are going to come with us and your not going to give us any fuss. Alright!." The alright was a little drawn out but I got the hint. If I didn't go with them right then and there their I was going to have a fight on my hands. I picked up Jenavee only to set her down upon the table then stood.
As I turned around I saw that these men had pokeballs in their hands. I guess if I didn't comply then I would be facing five different Pokemon. Well I wasn't going to just stand their and take it so I leaned forward and with a quick lunge and flick of my wrist, all five men fell to the ground. I stood up and re-sheathed my sword.
"Oh my dear god. You killed them."
"I did no such thing. I simply hit them with the back of my blade. Now do you have something to tie them up with?" After we had tied them up and stuffed into a few lockers did I carefully walked out the door. It didn't take me that long until I had rendered all the fake police officers that were in the lobby unconscious. I was about to finish off the rest of them without even breaking a sweat. I guess seeing a man come at you with a sword does tend to make you freeze up. I finished with the last of the guys when a voice spoke up.
"Donovin HELP!" It was Jenavee. I turned quickly and ran back the way I had come. When I got there I saw Jenny with her hands around Jenavee's neck. As I entered the room Jenny looked over her shoulder and smiled.
"If you value this Pokemon's life then you will surrender and come with us." I smirked and looked at her.
"You know the last time someone gave me that option I removed their head from their shoulders. So if you value your life I recommend that you remove your hands from her neck and run." I had my sword held in a way that if I attacked I would only strike with the blunt end, but since she didn't do that I twisted my wrist and I readied myself to attack with death in mind.
Slowly Jenny removed her hands from around Jenavee's neck.
"Jenavee are you ok?"
"Yes now that you are here." Jenny was backing away from the table that she was strangling Jenavee. I stepped aside and she quickly darted out the door yelling as she went.
"This isn't over. Not by a long shot." Her voice trailed after her as she uttered a few choice curses and then she was gone. I heard some sort of choking sound and turned to see Jenavee clutching at her throat. I quickly ran over to her and saw that her face had gone pail and she fell. I caught her just before she fell off the table. She continued to choke as I realized that Jenny had probably crushed her wind pipe.
I lay her down on the table and she stopped breathing. At once my thinking changed and I remembered all my years in scouting and I hopped that CPR would work for Pokemon the way it did for humans. After a few minutes of giving her CPR she started to breath on her own. I took a sigh of relief and sat down in the chair. That's when my foot connected with something. I looked down and froze in horror.
The nurse was there with her head twisted in what could only be described as a neck snapping position. I turned away and I could feel like I was going to be sick.
"Donovin." I looked up and I saw that Jenavee was sitting up with tear filled eyes. I was surprised when she jumped off the table and into my chest where I caught her. I cradled her in my arms until her crying slowed, then finally stopped.
"Where were you?"
"I'm so sorry Jenavee. I was busy dealing with all the other guys that came in with Jenny. I didn't even think of Jenny. What happened?"
"After you left, we started tying up all the guys. Then that lady came in and with speed I did not think a human could move, she crossed the room and snapped Joy's neck. Then she said to me 'I am going to take my time with you'. Then she came over to me and started to choke me. That is when you came in and stopped her."
I held her close and tears started to flow in my eyes. I had almost lost her. I vowed right then and there I would never let her out of my sight again.
"I don't think that it is safe to stay here any more." Jenavee nodded and after a quick prayer for Joy and fixed her so that she looked like she was sleeping peacefully. I placed a blanket over her body and we started to look around for some supplies. After rummaging around for a few minutes we found enough supplies to last us a few days. I stuffed the supplies into a backpack that was inside one of the lockers and picked up Jenavee and headed out.
I didn't go far outside when I felt and heard the sound of several people coming in this direction. So I held onto Jenavee's legs and made a dash for the trees.Chapter End Notes:Disclaimer: All publicly recognizable characters, settings, etc. are the property of their respective owners.
